Instruction:
The student will identify the picture and think what
group of communities it is. The given picture will have a
certain province that will represent each picture.
8. THE COMMUNITIES IN LUZON
•The islands of Luzon is home to the cultural communities of
Ivatan, Ifugao, Bontoc, Kalinga, and Gaddang.
•Each community has it’s own cultural and tradition that date
back in history for hundred years.
•Cultural community is unique.
•The attires, accessories, ornaments, houses, potteries and
sculptures, dances, and songs of the people reveal expressions of
their unique communities.
9. IVATAN
•Northernmost islands of the
Philippines in the province
of Batanes.
•Known to live off the gifts
of their lands and seas.
•Ivatans weave fishing nets
called sagap.
•Ivatans are known to live a
very peaceful and simple
way of life.
11. IFUGAO
•People in the Province of Ifugao in
the Cordillera Mountain Ranges of
Central Luzon.
•“Ipugo”- (From the hill) hence they
are called in habitants of the known
earth.
•Name associated with the popular
man-made Banaue Rice Terraces
(hailed as a UNESCO World
Heritage.
13. BONTOC
•Hail from the provinces of Ifugao, Benguet, Kalinga Apayao,
and Mountain Province CAR.
•Traditionally headhunters using dog to trap pigs into pits,
snare birds and cats, and hunt wild carabaos.
•Use nets and traps in fishing.
•Irrigate agricultural lands for farming.
15. KALINGA
• Kalinga cultural communities are
found in the Cordillera Reion in
North Luzon.
• Kalinga main sources of Livelihood
are their rice fields and farms.
• Engaged in agriculture.
• Weapons of the Kalingas carry tattoo
designs painted in the shields.
• Some Kalinga people (expert
mambabato) tattoo artist.
17. GADDANG
•Mostly found in
Central Isabela, Nueva
Vizcaya, Quirino, and
Cagayan.
•Engaged in meaningful
event that bind the
Cauayeno’s.
•Farming and hunting
and fishing.
