The course enables mechanical engineering students to gain hands-on experience in traditional manufacturing techniques like molding, casting, and welding as well as modern techniques like composites and power tools. It covers topics like metal cutting processes, lathe and milling machine operations, drilling, boring, grinding, jigs and fixtures, and additive manufacturing. The objectives are for students to understand manufacturing tools and processes, calculate machining parameters, and choose appropriate machining methods, work holding, and jigs/fixtures for applications.
