Plastics are contemporary, synthetic materials. Plastics are oil and gas based, and consumes less than four per cent of our oil and gas reserves. Plastic in fact saves the energy it takes less energy to convert into plastic from raw materials. Throughout their whole life circle one-third less energy needs than making paper bags. Without plastic, whole packaging would take almost double energy by around 160 percent. The better-quality properties of plastics such as sanitized or germ free barrier properties, light weight, and durability contribute appreciably to our health and quality to way of life.

Plastics has been evolving now a days. Our lives has been filled with plastics. Almost all of our things are made of plastics but do you what it is and what it is made of?
One of the most common and widely used plastic is polyethylene or PE with the resin codes 2 and 4. It is mostly used as plastic bags, food wraps, bulletproof vest, pipes and so many more. Here is a little preview of polyethylene and what is its purpose in our daily lives.
What is polyethylene?
Its properties, structure and applications.
Plastic is a general term for synthetic polymers that can be molded into solid objects. The first plastic, Parkesine, was created in 1862 from cellulose. Plastics are made from polymers formed through addition, condensation, or addition polymerization reactions from raw materials like monomers, plasticizers, and fillers. The two main types are thermoplastics, which soften when heated and harden when cooled, and thermoset plastics, which harden permanently after heating. Common plastics include polyethylene, PVC, PVA, and bakelite. Plastics are used widely due to properties like light weight, corrosion resistance, strength, and insulation.

Manufacturing of Recycled Polyester Fiber from used PET BottlesAjjay Kumar Gupta
Manufacturing of Recycled Polyester Fiber from used PET Bottles. Recycling Plastic Bottle into Synthetic Fiber.
Polyester may be a manmade Fibre, synthesized from petrochemical products by a process called polymerization. Polyester springs from crude oil petroleum and may be a non- natural resource. It’s processed through a system called ‘cracking’ which treats the petroleum though intensive heating and cooling, fuel, solvents, pressure and catalysts to interrupt down the molecular structure.
The most common variety of recycled polyester is understood as rPET, which comes from discarded clear plastic bottles rather than raw petrochemicals. Polyester fabric recycling, where the particular polyester yarn is recycled, is a smaller amount common. During this case, polyester scraps and textiles are broken down into Fibre components which will then be spun into the recycled yarns.

Plastic poses serious threats to the environment and human life. It pollutes oceans and beaches, kills animals that ingest it, and takes over 1000 years to decompose. The production of plastic involves toxic chemicals like benzene that can cause cancer. Recycling plastic is also hazardous due to toxic fumes. Individual actions like reducing single-use plastic bag use and recycling bags can help address this problem.
Hi i'am Sean , i study in OUR OWN ENGLISH HIGH SCHOOL .This is a power point on plastics , to help us understand what is a plastic , what are the types of plastic and what harm do they cause to our environment
This was created by fact checking a famous internet chain mail describing the horrors of plastic bags. It appears that most of it was never really linked to any authoritative source. But news papers like the NY times a Boston Globe as fact. It is truely an example of Escience and Ejournalism where research is conducted online and professional standards of fact checking and documentation were abandoned
The demise of single-use plastic bags began at their start, shortly after being invented in the 1950s. The public's disdain for things "plastic" -- especially bags -- is due to shameful and short-term industry "leadership" without care or concern for any long-term and science-based support. This slideshow was delivered in 1998 as a warning to the Plastic Bag Association at its Annual Meeting, when that group was being merged into the Society of the Plastics Industry. The warning was ignored. Today's news tells the results. Written and presented by George Makrauer, president of Comad Group, www.comad.com.
This document describes a field experiment conducted in Delhi, India to test the effectiveness of different policies for reducing plastic bag usage. The researchers tested interventions including providing information about alternatives to plastic bags, a cash-back scheme for using non-plastic bags, and providing bag substitutes. They found that these interventions significantly increased use of reusable bags, reducing plastic bag usage from 80.8% to 57.1% of consumers on average. The study concludes that in developing countries where enforcement of bans may be difficult, a combination of low-cost incentives and information campaigns could be more effective than a blanket ban alone at changing consumer behavior and reducing plastic waste.

Essay Format-Persuasive Essay
Introduction Paragraph with Thesis Statement (Remember, the thesis statement will be the last line in this paragraph.)
What could make this invention any better? It is free for most shoppers, it is convenient for carrying materials, it is lightweight, and it has multiple purposes. These are some benefits of plastic shopping bags. According to Kinnelon Conserves.net, plastic bags are made from crude oil, which is heated and releases ethylene gas, leaving polyethylene as a byproduct (2018). This gel-like material is what makes plastic bags. Ever since its beginnings in the 1960s, plastic shopping bags can be seen in many places: in shopping carts, in trunks of cars, and in kitchens. Katherine Mangu-Ward states, “In 2010, Guinness World Records named plasticbagsthe most ubiquitous consumer item in the world” (2015). But, the problem is that we also see plastic bags floating in oceans and trapped inside aquatic organisms. So, the question becomes, do we ban plastic bags in all fifty states, or do we continue using them in shopping centers?
________________________________________________________________________
(Thesis)_Considering many factors, plastic bags should be banned from stores in all fifty states due to the negative effect they have on the environment when they are produced and after they are produced, along with the fact that many countries and cities have already successfully banned them and reaped the positive environmental benefits of doing so. __
Body Paragraph # 1
Topic Sentence : One reason lawmakers should ban plastic bags in all fifty states, is due to the negative environmental ramifications, when they are produced.
Major Supporting Detail # 1: __Plastic bags are made from an already depleting fossil fuel: oil, which takes thousands of years to form. Oil already has many uses, including being used for gasoline and diesel in vehicles and homes, jet fuel, and for roads and roofs, among many other uses. Eliminating plastic bags will make better use of this limited oil resource.
Evidence/Quote/Paraphrase—“Quotation Sandwich”
_ The Kinnelon Conserves website states that “five trillion plastic bags are produced each year, which accounts for .2% of the earth’s oil consumption each year…it takes 12 million barrels of oil just to make enough plastic bags for America!” That is a lot of wasted oil on a product we usually only use one time for about 15 minutes. Oil is already being used up at an alarming rate for energy, construction, and other types of plastics like for toys and many household items, so we should not waste it on one-use plastic bags, and further negatively affect our environment.
Major Detail # 2: _When we extract oil from our land to make plastic bags, we also release methane into the atmosphere, which traps heat, and increases global warming. So, oil extraction, also induces air pollution. __________________

1. Manufacturing Process of Plastic Bags
The Plastic Bag Manufacturing Process
Various kinds and thicknesses of bags are manufactured by changing the molecular chain in the
polyethylene pellets by heating the pellets to 200 degrees Centigrade. After that pounding polyethylene
pellets until they turn to liquid. In addition, the molten pellets are then derived through an extruding
machine (a device which pulls a material through a shaped die to form a continuous length of product
witha presetcrosssection),where the bagshapes ismade.
The molecular chain of the polythene is divided before being sent through the presses and a different
strength or type of plastic is made each time the molecular chain is divided. Next, softening agents are
added to the plastic and color, and after that the plastic is blown though the extruding tubes to make a
shape. When the plastic has cooled, the long tube of plastic is collapsed, cut into right lengths, sealed on
one side as well as passed on to extra presses, where the handles are cut out and logos or other printed
ads are added.
The science behind the making of plastic bags has made our lives easier, that ease comes at a price. At
present, there are as many plastic bags floating around us as there are on a shops shelves waiting to be
handed out to customers. What should have been a good invention has turned into bane on the earth,
so the bottom line is not sufficient consumers recycle. Today, most companies outsource their bag
making outside of the country for lesser costs, but some till have bag making machines placed on the
premises. Additionally, they are run by bag machine operators, which should go through some heavy
safety training with regard to not get hurt using these machines, as plastic bag making machines are
veryfast-movingaswell as risky toworkwith.
To find plastic bag making machine, you must search online. It does not matter what your needs are,
you can surely find many results were accurately what you need. There are millions of websites that are
selling these machines, and many of them are based in either China or India, so they will ship from one
of those two countries. Plastic bag making machines are very expensive, and the shipping is quite
expensive aswell asbecause of the sheersize of mostof them.
