Harvey Mason And The Canopus Drums
Harvey Mason is probably the most recorded and most influential drummer /percussionist in this
genre. proclaims Nathan East, member of fOURPLAY, prominent Jazz, R B, and Rock artist. Mr.
Mason was born February 22nd, 1947 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He is international known as a
drummer. Harvey Mason can play the Canopus Drums, Sabian cymbals, Remo drumheads, DW
pedals, Vic Firth drumsticks, and Roc N Soc drum thrones. To add to that astonishing list, he even has
his own signature drumstick and Vic Firth Harvey Mason Chameleon signature drumstick. In past
years, he used various instruments such as Gretsch Drums, Premier drums, Rogers Drums, Tana
Drums, Zildjian Cymbals, Toca percussion and Gibraltar Hardware. I do not know what those are but
Harvey Mason had to be a great musician to master all those instruments.
Since a young age Harvey Mason never had a problem picking up beats. He remembers lying in bed at
night, locking into the rolling groove of his mother s washing machine, fluffing his pillow into a ball
and playing along to it with his fingers. Harvey started taking formal drum lessons at age 7, playing in
school groups eventually purchasing his first drum set at 16 years old. He played so amazingly well
that Atlantic City s Wonder Gardens Club proprietor, Sonny McCall, got a unique permit just so the
teenaged Mason could play there without any trouble. Harvey proceeded with his musical training first
at the Berklee School of Music, then on full grant to the

Descriptive Essay On Monument Valley Discovery
A trip to visit Monument Valley took me through the mystifying canyons and desert flats of Utah
consecrated by the indigenous Navajo people for their natural beauty. I did not realize that my journey
on a winding road through the sovereign Navajo Nation would have such a profound effect on me
when I first arrived at Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. Amidst the towering auburn stones and
fine sands, the Valley began to perform a ballad of whispering winds and endless sky. This
performance detailed the relationship between man and nature in Monument Valley and even the
largest lens cannot capture the landscape. I began to interpret Monument Valley (see appendix A) and
its importance to me as an example of true nature that I encountered early in my childhood in movies.
It was naive to believe that my childhood recollections of grayscale Western films did it justice, so I
set out on a journey to discover the landscape in person. While my original memories will endure, the
enchanting effects of the Valley of the Rocks on my soul is only relivable amidst the great stones of
the Colorado Plateau.
Revered across the world for its unique physical features, the Colorado Plateau (see appendix B) has
become synonymous with natural wonder. I took up the task of visiting the expansive area in August
of 2017 to as an odyssey of discovery, and immediately noticed the uniqueness of the landscape. Upon
arrival, it became clear that the Navajo cared for their natural spaces in a meticulous

Analysis Of Dear Gentrification, I Was Here Before You
Even if you woke up with the skin of Lupita, looking like you just bathed yourself in a tub of coconut
oil and the sweat of Jesus. Suddenly, your neighborhood is cleaner, the police come faster, and your
garbage doesn t sit too long outside (Agbaje, 2017). This is quote is from the author and the article,
Dear Gentrification, I was Here Before You, by Soré Agbaje: discussing the issues of gentrification
within her community. Gentrification is the act of putting in buildings and companies normally used
by the middle class but is generally seen as luxuries to the lower class community. There are many

There are several attended audiences for this specific picture. The one audience is the businessmen
that are putting up the signs; they see the kind of community it is, and they see where their businesses
are about to be operating at. They probably feel positive about this action because they probably feel
as if they are improving the economy of this specific area. The workers for the businessmen are the
next people this sign is attended for, they can see what they re taking down and what they about to be
constructing to improve the surrounding area. They probably do not display any type of emotion
because this is their job to take down, and reconstruct new buildings all the time. The workers will
probably do not think about how these luxury condos will affect the nearby families. However, on the
side note they are probably okay with doing this job because it is helping them support their own
families. The locals are another audience that is attended for this picture, they will be able to connect
with this because they will know what s going on in their community. This action is going to affect the
rest of their lives and it will make them think about if they need to find a new home out of the
community or try to stay and keep up with newly growing economy. This can affect their lives
because they might not have the resources to move so then if the surrounding property taxes,
mortgage, and other housing costs go up

Sammy in Updike s A P Essay
The main character in John Updike s short story A P is Sammy. The story s first person context gives
the reader a unique insight toward the main character s own feelings and choices, as well as the
reasons for the choices. The reader is allowed to closely observe Sammy s observations and first
impressions of the three girls who come to the grocery store on a summer afternoon in the early 1960s.
In order to understand this short story, one must first recognize the social climate of the era, the age of
the main character, and the temptation this individual faces. Sammy is a product of his generation. In
the 1960s the social climate was changing. The new ideas of the youth were taking over the traditions
of their parents. Music and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This seems almost ridiculous as far as today s standards, where in the grocery store, people wear
garments that vary from business suits to skimpy pajamas and bedroom slippers wandering the
produce section. One has to wonder what Sammy would do if he worked in a grocery store today! The
other side of the culture of the time is the rebellious attitude that Sammy has toward his boss. So I say
I quit to Lengel quick enough for them to hear, hoping they ll stop and watch me, their unsuspected
hero (81). He quits because the manager has embarrassed the girls. He throws caution to the wind and
walks away from his job, but remembering his manners, politely leaves his bow tie and apron behind.
He wants to throw off all his responsibilities and follow these girls wherever they are going, and
instead of listening to the good reasoning of his manager, he does as he pleases. Some of this
rebellious attitude can certainly be chalked up to age. Sammy is a teenage boy who is confronted with
three nearly unclothed girls on a hot day in the summer. Instead of being outside having fun, he s stuck
inside working at a menial job. These girls are a carrot dangling on a stick, just out of his reach. He
decides to take matters into his own hands and cut the string holding the carrot, even though the girls
are gone by the time he gets outside. It is characteristic of teenagers to do as they

Electronic Health Care Case Study
The implementation of new information technology systems into existing organizations is not a new
concept as the possible process improvements for a business can be fairly obvious when compared to
more traditional non computer based processes. One sector, which for the most part is transitioning
into using information systems in an attempt to improve processes, is the health sector. This report
observes and analyses multiple real life cases of health care providers from the United States who
have decided to upgrade from traditional paper based patient charts to computer based Electronic
Health Records (EHR). It should be noted that all of the case studies observed in this report were
created by the Centre for Aging Services Technologies who describe themselves as being focused on
development, evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies in the medical sector. The Centre for
Aging Services Technologies is an international group made up of 400 technology companies research
universities and government representatives. The United States government describes Electronic
Health Records as being digital versions of a patients paper chart (Healthit.gov, 2014). Electronic
health records typically include information on patients including the patient s medical history,
medications the patient takes, treatment plans, immunization dates, allergies, radiology images and
test results. With this being said it would first seem that EHR s are simple data collection and storage

Negative Campaigning Toward A Tipping Point
Negative Campaigning Toward a Tipping Point
Opposition research is a key part in modern campaigns, however the increase in negative campaigning
coupled with advancements in research techniques will create a more hostile election cycle. Negative
campaigning has been a method that helped control those with a lot of outside factors affecting them
prior to being elected. The right campaign ad with fact checked information is an amazing asset to a
campaign team. Media has progressed to a point where they demand live, off the cuff news twenty
four seven from the campaign trail. This makes it hard for the well calculated responses the political
community is used to less desirable. The right conditions have been meet to allow for an anomaly to
take advantage of negative campaigning and using more media desirable taglines to gain popularity.
This popularity comes at a cost however; the cost is damaging the success of getting the public to be
more involved in politics. Many organizations, politically affiliated and otherwise, have been created
for the purpose of getting the public to vote on election day. These organizations strive to ensure the
average person understands how important it is to vote for yourself and the community. Unfortunately,
negatively campaigning has been shown to disillusion the public and demotivate them to get involved
in the political process. With the general public getting less involved, the opportunity for the more
devoted and the more extreme to gain

Anne Carson s Lessons
Anne Carson is a very intelligent and well rounded writer. When I first read Anne Carson s Short Talks
, I was seriously confused. At first, I thought she was an abstract writer that wrote just to write. But
then I took a second look at her work and realized there was much more to it than just crazy jumbled
ideas. Short Talks is a mixture of many elements. It has argumentation, facts, personal opinions, and
an unconventional way of writing.
As I was rereading the Short Talks , I noticed names, facts, and a lesson to go along with each Short
Talk. This persuaded me to do some research so the stories would start to make more sense. After ...

Elektra took this very hard, so she and her brother Orestes plotted revenge against her mother and step
father. Elektra s father had been against things like this, but Elektra became so bitter she began to
commit many crimes. So this short talk helps us decide between what is major and minor in our life.
This helps to keep from overreacting over the small things in life.
Another lesson comes from the short talk On Reading. This takes the reader back to their childhood.
No, not everyone enjoys reading, but it is also great for you. In this short talk I got the imagery that
this little girl was on a road trip with her parents, her father does not enjoy reading but she does. So
while on the way to their destination, she reads Madame Bovary. While reading she takes a moment to
look around at the sights passing through the window. This just gets the reader to truly think and
assess the way they perceive the way they view reading. Having someone who enjoys reading, and
someone who finds no pleasure in reading is what makes the world go round. Not everyone
appreciates, or finds interest in the same things, but do not discourage anyone if you have no interest
in it.
If I were to write some short talks I could use an Anne Carson like writing style, or writing that flows
eloquently. I would try to help the reader to understand what is being said, but to also think about what
is before them. I would include an introduction in my short talks

What Is Socrates Claim That The Unexamined Life Is Not...
I have long been intrigued by the claim, attributed to Socrates, that the unexamined life is not worth
living . For a start, there is the absolute and uncompromising tone of the language, not worth living .
Why not set the bar lower and simply claim that an examined life is better than the alternative or that
it s useful to think about things before acting? Perhaps the quotation was framed with a fair measure
of rhetorical flourish. On the other hand, what if the words were meant to be taken at face value? What
could lead a person to say that a certain type of life is not worth living? I do not (and cannot) know
precisely what the historical Socrates had mind. After all, he is glimpsed but darkly through myriad
competing lenses tinged by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This understanding is, unsurprisingly, unoriginal a bog standard , this worldly form of humanism.
Despite this, I still find it useful to discuss. Although it seems rather obvious, I think that the key to
understanding Socrates claim is to recognise it as being addressed to those who participate in human
Being (that form of Being that is distinctive to humans). For Socrates (as for many others then and
since) human Being is marked by the capacity to transcend instinct and desire and to make conscious,
ethical choices. This is not to deny that instinct and desire have the power to shape human behaviour
(at least as powerfully as they do in the case of other forms of being ant, cow, fish, etc.). However,
while I think it highly unlikely that any lion would not kill an antelope out of concern for the children
of its prey, I know that many human beings can and do act against the urgings of instinct and desire
simply because they think that to act would be wrong. There need be no restraining hand, no accusing
witness. Rather, a simple belief that some act is wrong will regulate behavior even if

Visible Minority And Immigrant Racism
Visible Minority and Immigrant Racism in the Canadian Work Environment
In the ideal world, every person is treated equally in the workplace whether it be hiring, promotion,
assignments or termination. However in reality, racial discrimination and harassment remain pervasive
in the workplace, with 1 in 4 visible minority workers who reported that they had experienced racial
harassment or discrimination in the workplace [3]. In this essay, I will be discussing the social history
of racism in the workplace, the nature of racism in the labour force, motives and factors, immigration
policies, temporary programs and exploitation of employment, the de skilling of individuals and non
recognition of foreign credentials, the social history of racism in the workplace, racism in the
sociological conflict theory paradigm, and finally, policy recommendations to aimed to eliminate and
decrease racism in the work environment. In the Canadian work environment, racism exists as a
complex and multidimensional inequality for visible minorities and immigrants, and can be examined
socially, economically and politically using the sociological Marxist conflict theory paradigm.

Chaucer s Corrupt Church
Life since the fourteenth century has changed tremendously in almost every aspect; perhaps one of the
best changes took place in the Church. In Geoffrey Chaucer s day, the Church was extremely corrupt.
Most clergy members were not as holy and sinless as they should have been or let on to be. Although
Chaucer did not blatantly state his feelings about the corrupt Church, which was too powerful at the
time to criticize directly, one can clearly see his position by reading the General Prologue of one of his
now famous books, The Canterbury Tales. Chaucer s disgust with the corrupt clergy, which happened
to be most of them, is especially evident in the way he describes three of his characters: the monk, the
friar, and the pardoner.
Chaucer s monk, a supposed man of God, admits otherwise. In the code of monks written by St.
Benedict, hunting is considered the act of a sinful man because it was believed that while hunting, a
man could not have thoughts of divine things because he is consumed by the hunt. Even knowing this,
the monk in the General Prologue admits that he enjoys hunting and even goes as far as saying he
lives for it. Monks were supposed to do nothing but study and pray. The monk had a lust for ... Show

He carried a bag full of holy relics, which he charged people to see. Doing this, he made large
amounts of money which he did not donate to the Church as he should have, but kept it for himself.
One can understand the depth of his greed by reading Chaucer s statement, He was the best at singing
the offertory song because he knew he had to sing loudly and happily if he wanted people to donate
their money. From this quote, the reader can infer that the pardoner did not have a single concern for
the well being of the church, only for the well being of his wallet. The pardoner was corrupt in one of

Pros And Cons Of The Poliovirus And Vaccine
Hi Antoinette, great post with a lot of detailed information. During my research of the poliovirus and

the FDA ever. Although this resulted in a nightmare and many children and adults were affected with
many different forms of paralysis and some even lost their life as a result, there was still some good
that came from the poliovirus vaccine.

Terry V Johnson Case
The issue in the present case is whether Officer Simon had reasonable suspicion to justify pulling the
defendant over? Stops by the police are referred to as a Terry stop. Terry v. Ohio. Thus, police may
make a brief investigatory stop if they have reasonable suspicion that criminal activity may be afoot.
See Terry v. Ohio. See also State v. Montel.
The stop by Officer Simson was not justified because he had no reasonable suspicion to pull over the
defendant. Reasonable suspicion, if received from an anonymous caller or informant, must be
corroborated with an investigation or independent observation by the police officer. State v Montel.
Here, Officer Simson, after receiving a call from an anonymous source, went directly to the
convenience store to look for the defendant. Upon not finding him there, he drove around until he
spotted the Red Jeep Cherokee, which the tipster identified the potential defendant driving and at that
point pulled him over. In State v. Sneed, the police stopped a defendant who made a stop at a house ...

Core Competencies Of Virgin Atlantic
In July 2017, news headlines hit the airwaves and the internet regarding Sir Richard Branson giving
up control of the 33 years old airline, Virgin Atlantic (Bkaskara, 2017). Apparently, the air carrier
industry has experienced increased competitiveness. Low cost rivals are putting pressure on traditional
transatlantic carriers, which has made Virgin Atlantic, once a trailblazing carrier, to struggle. In 2012,
Delta Air Lines came to the rescue of the carrier in a joint venture, taking up 49 percent of the
company (Stothard, 2017). Even so, in the July 2017 alliance, Branson, according to Stothard (2017)
gave up his control as a part of a wide ranging disturbance of the airline carrier industry that will see
Delta Air Lines, Air France KLM, and China Eastern intensify their alliances. The aim of the airline is
to embrace the human spirit and let it fly (Virgin Atlantic, 2016). Its main focus has been on services
such as safety and security, for its 5.4 million customers flown in 2016 (Virgin Atlantic, 2016). To
enhance its efficiency, Virgin Atlantic has implemented various strategic management practices to

Social Realism By Chua Mia Tee
Chua Mia Tee is one of Singapore s leading realist painter, often known for his oil paintings, which
portray Singapore s culture. Having grown up during Singapore s tumultuous years, his early paintings
reflect nationalistic concerns that occupied Singapore during our early years. More specifically, his
artist style has been called Social Realism, a school of art that responds to the industrial revolution and
urbanisation, focusing more on working class realities. Many of Singapore s social realists blended
anti colonial sentiment, nationalist aspirations and socialist concerns in various proportions in their
work.

this context refers to the collective Malayan states and Singapore. Despite being under colonial rule

Framing Effect In Frankenstein
Framing effect is the concept in psychology that the way information is presented influences how the
audience feels about the information and can affect the judgments the audience makes about the
information (July 2011. Web. 17 May 2016. .) First we have Walton talking to his sister. Then we have
Victor telling Walton the story. In middle of the story we have the monster telling his part of the story
to Victor, and then Victor telling the monster s story to Walton. Discussing the framing and how it
contributes to the ghost story contributes to the theme that Mary Shelley was going for in the novel.
To begin with, the three main characters that are involved with the framing of the story are Victor
Frankenstein, Robert Walton, and The Monster. Victor was the creator of the monster. He tried playing
God,but it backfired. Throughout the framing he speaks of his story to Walton, making you visualize
as if you were there. I do not know that the relation of my disasters will be useful to you; yet, when I

Their independence will be not only in finding their way around but also in knowing where to locate
things and who people are. Now many people argue they re in middle school, and they re older now,
meaning we have to be independent anyway. But even though we are older, that doesn t mean we
always know where things are or we always know what to do. That s like saying a newborn can
survive without caretaker. It s as simple as this; newborns know very little about the world and how it
works as to new students knowing very little about new schools and how they work. So regardless of
maturity or age, people need to be dependent before they can be independent, and the ambassador
program is a good form of that temporary dependence.
Another benefit of the ambassador program would be that it would allow new students to become
comfortable and gain a form of confidence. It s important for new student/staff to be comfortable
because if they weren t think of how difficult it would be for them to focus not only in class but just in
general. And when students become comfortable and confident enough, that s when they will be able
to focus on things like work. But it s often thought that being comfortable shouldn t prioritize over
classes and what matters is getting work done. But what most don t realize is that it s virtually
impossible for people like us to focus on work if we feel out of place in our everyday environment.
But this program would allow

A Brief Note On The Modern College Tuition
The Modern College Tuition Yale University is among the most prestigious in the country; a union of
Ivy League schools upheld by nothing but their name and age. Though these schools like Yale are
famously known as an expensive path for an equal education, they receive a surprising number of
applicants. While there are several options for avoiding a crippling college expense, the price of a
school like Yale is beyond steep. Like any business, you want to generate as much revenue as possible
compared to your expenses, so while the cost of a college degree can be expensive, it clearly has a
demand comparable to that of its price (Heakal). Tuition alone is an obstacle, but when the expenses
are all totaled together, you can certainly see the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Room costs $8,200 and board costs $6,400, totaling to $14,600. It shall be considered that this steep
price is for use of the housing facilities located Yale s campus; quite a convenient location to live
when you must walk to multiple auditoriums daily.
When combined, these expenses total to $65,725 every year at Yale University. This means that even
if your required education fit into four years, it would already cost $262,900 ( Estimated Cost ).
Without the benefits of financial aid, Yale acknowledges the heavy responsibility of the parents to
provide the money necessary to pay for the education: Yale believes that both parents have a
responsibility to contribute toward their child s college education, even if they are divorced or
separated ( Parent Contribution ). As this is stated directly on Yale s website, it very accurately reflects
how it expects the students to be dependent upon their family in order to receive an education at their
school. In modern society, it is fully inappropriate for it to be the responsibility of the parents to
provide a fixed proportion of their income for their child to go to a prestigious school that takes a
certain level of brilliance to attend. Education has become more of a business than a liberty in the past
couple of decades, and as seen by the evidence provided, it has merely encouraged dependence on
someone else a state anyone in business tries to avoid. Fortunately, there are several ways one

Jimmy Darden Biography
In February, Cleveland County Lifestyle publisher Jimmy Darden made a personal commitment to
getting physically fit. To begin his journey, Darden chose Orangetheory Fitness located in Moore.
Unfortunately, after only a few sessions, Darden suffered from what he refers to as a freak knee injury
and was sidelined while recovering from surgery to repair a torn meniscus. On Saint Patrick s Day,
rather than quaffing down green beer, Darden returned to the studio. When I returned just two weeks
after surgery, the coaches were awesome, they constantly checked up on me and gave me modified
exercises. In Jimmy s case, said OTF coach Kyle Dake, we started off with a slow progression. Jimmy
had a torn meniscus, and once he was cleared, we made sure to stay away from any movements that
put too much pressure on that knee. For cardio, we kept the incline down or put him on the bike or
strider. When we worked with weights, we stayed away from later movements such as lunges, and
when we did squats, we used the TRX straps for stabilization until he was able to do body weight
squats, and eventually added weight. I see a lot of previous shoulder injuries and back injuries, and
members are always able to get a great workout in with the options we are able to provide. Likewise,

Glass Ceiling In The Workplace
The glass ceiling is the metaphorical representation of the difficulties minorities, and women face
when attempting to move to higher levels of the organization hierarchy (Berry Franks, 2010; Johns,
2013). Though commonly used to refer to the invisible and implied limits put on women, the other
minorities whose upward mobility is restricted by the glass ceiling are discriminated on the basis of
race, age, or sexual orientation (Johns, 2013). The glass ceiling also includes the life issues that the
minorities such as women have to balance with their work as they seek to advance in the workplace.

Thomas J. Jackson played a very important roll in the civil war. As a general for the confederate side
he served in many famous battles and was very well known. In November of 1859, Jackson was one
of the Virginia Military Institute officers to accompany the contingent of cadets to Harpers Ferry,
Virginia. At the execution of John Brown, who was an abolitionist, they stood guard. In 1861 Jackson
was in charge of the cadets who were ordered to Richmond. There they were going to serve as
drillmasters for new army recruits. 6 days later, Colonel Jackson was ordered to take command at
Harpers Ferry, where he soon comprised the famous stonewall Brigade. That July, he was promoted to
Brigadier General.
At the first battle of Bull Run, Jackson s small group of troops were facing overwhelming odds but
they formed a strong line and held their ground. At the sight of this, General Barnard Bee said, There
is Jackson s line over there standing like a stonewall. After this statement Thomas Jackson was given
the nickname Stonewall .
In October 1861 Colonel Jackson was promoted to Major General. He served in the seven day battles,
and displayed ineffective leadership, which stood in stark contrast to the brilliance of

Gender Stereotypes In Halloween
Halloween is a popular time of year, where plenty of people dress up and having taste or poise is
optional. However, to many, Halloween may seem harmless and innocent, but as we age and the
growth of sex appeal increases, the amount of innocence decreases. Even though Halloween may be
simply fun and games, the gender lens and Freud s psychoanalysis lens assists in helping the reader
truly see now nauseating Halloween has become To begin, the gender lens can expose many different
perspectives to Halloween, especially when it comes to the exploitation and sexual stereotypes of
women and men, more specifically through the marketing of costumes. For instance, Scott Gilmore
states Jim from accounting with the nervous tic and therapeutic shoes always wanted to be a member
of the SWAT team. He leaves the costume shop with a tactical vest, a holster and enough swagger to
break down a door. Julia from the Jamba Juice? She gets Sultry SWAT , which is just knee high boots,
fishnet stockings, a micro mini and a halter top that helpfully explains SWAT. To any feminist,
Halloween is always quite aggravating, since women are always over sexualized yet men are deemed
as masculine as possible. Why does Halloween continue to define and market women s costumes as
slutty ? The author of the article may be male, but he persists to recognize the fact that women are
pressured to exploit themselves on Halloween. Society continues to follow the old stereotype of
women, especially young

The Constitutional Basis Of Personal Jurisdiction
Jurisdiction Personal jurisdiction refers to the ability of a court to exercise its power over a particular
defendant or item of property. Personal jurisdiction may be categorized as in personam, in rem, or
quasi in rem. The primary restraints on a court s power to exercise personal jurisdiction are found in
the United States Constitution, state statutes, and case law. The Constitutional basis for personal
jurisdiction comes from the due process clause of the 14th Amendment. The statutory basis comes
from most states adopting what is called a long arm statute that states the limits of personal
jurisdiction that a state has over the defendant. Most long arm statutes, including CA, state that their
personal jurisdiction may be exercised up to the limits of the constitution. There are two types of
personal jurisdiction: specific jurisdiction and general jurisdiction. A court will have specific
jurisdiction when the activities that gave rise to the case happened in the forum state and general
jurisdiction occurs when the activities that gave rise were unrelated to the forum state. Specific
jurisdiction is easier to find than general jurisdiction. Pennoyer v. Neff, 95 U.S. 714 (1878) established
four ways to attain general jurisdiction: 1) the defendant s presence in the forum state, including
corporations, 2) if the defendant is a domicile of the forum state, 3) if the defendant consented to
being sued in the forum state, and 4) Quasi in Rem (the suit of the thing), where

Piaget s Theory Of Cognitive Ability
Welcome to the exciting and adventurous camp of Cognitive Ability, where we challenge and cherish
the precious minds of babies and teens through our fun activities of psychology through Piaget s
theory of cognitive ability. Piaget s theory of cognitive ability was designed to distinguish the age at
which a child s cognitive ability was developed through the stages in which he classified as
sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational and formal operational (Lutz Huitt, 2004). The goal
of the camp is to define how children learn, remember, pay attention, and problem solve through each
child s development pace by a series of educational activities for all to enjoy. The sensorimotor stage
activities will consist primarily of age s birth to about two years. The child will be given a choice of
toys to play with such as stuffed animals, building blocks or a rattle. Each toy will either produce a
sound. During the main activity, one of the instructors will give the child the rattle to play with by first
showing the rattle to the baby and then shaking the rattle. As the baby looks at the rattle they will be
startled or surprised by the sound and wonder why and where it came from. The instructor will then
give the rattler to the baby and then they will shake it. The baby will gradually understand they are
causing the sound, therefore motor skills and sensory perceptions are established. In the sensorimotor
stage, infants will realize that their actions through sense and

Sex Offenders In Australia Essay
The rate of registered sexual offenders in Australia and internationally has been frequently increasing
over time. Within Victoria, as of December 2011, 4165 offenders had been registered and it is
estimated that by the year 2020, there will be 10,000 registrations by then (Victorian Law Reform
Commission, 2012). Within Australia today there are only a few states which have an established
registry such as Western Australia and The Northern Territory. Other states within Australia such as
New South Wales have indicated that they have been working to establish a registry. Having a sex
offender registry is extremely crucial and beneficial to people in the community as it enables them to
feel protected and constantly informed of the whereabouts of sex offenders within their community.
Community s response to official Sex Offender registers In December 2012 the Western Australian
Legislative Assembly passed the Community Protection Amendment Bill. This bill introduced an
online sex offender register open to the community. The website posts the names and photographs of

Energy Self Sufficiency in Building through Photovoltaic Cells ABSTRACT Solar energy is a way to

solar energy to become more widespread. Due to the possibility of a shortage of fossil fuels in the near

To cause a current to flow through the cells and create an electrical current, the semiconductor
incorporates a p n junction, which is when p type silicon is placed next to n type silicon. The electrons
will then flow towards the positive side of the solar cells instead of in random directions (see figure 1).
These semiconductors are usually made out of silicon, which, when in different forms can have
efficiency from 16% to 32%. The efficiency of a photovoltaic cell is measured by the ratio of the
amount of solar energy it converts to electrical energy to the total amount of solar energy that hits the

kinetic energy of electron. However, if the photon does not have enough energy, the electron is unable
to escape and remains in the material. Bell Labs first put these cells to use in

While the radio station had officially been granted a licence from the Ministry of Information and
Culture in Kabul, Ismail Khan s power base in the west was very strong, and the central government
had very little power to enforce its policies in Herat. As a result, during the process of setting up the
radio station, there was much concern when Ismail Khan chose not to offer any written guarantee that
the operation would receive his sanction.
He was, however, an advocate of women s education. By describing the women s radio station as a
tool for women s instruction and culture, and inviting the Canadian ambassador to Afghanistan to the
radio station s launch, Radio Sahar was able to receive Ismail Khan s last minute support. Radio Sahar

The women usually had very little time to prepare the shows; they would use the time available to

2 of the 25 warehouses containing the asbestos reside in states that do not have laws in place requiring
the special handling and disposal of the asbestos when the building is demolished or otherwise
significantly renovated. However, LOI does have a legally binding contract to sell the warehouses in
six months to a third party. The purchase/sales contract contains a standard provision allowing the
buyer to require LOI to remove the asbestos prior to the date of the sale. LOI has previously sold
warehouses to this same third party based on purchase/sales contracts containing similar provisions
related to the removal of asbestos. In each of those transactions, the third party has never enforced the

LOI to remove the asbestos from the warehouses. Based on this prior experience with the third party,
LOI believes that there is a 90% probability that the third party will not enforce the provision in the
current purchase/sales contract requiring LOI to remove the asbestos. Because it is not probable that
LOI will be required to remove the asbestos, no asset retirement obligation needs to be recognized. At
worst, there is not sufficient information (based on ASC 410 2025 10) to determine the fair value of

Kehliy (2009) suggests children have four basics needs; the need for love and security, new
experiences, praise and recognition and responsibility. Children have the potential to develop to their
full capacity with these needs met. Maslov in his hierarchy of needs highlighted that children need
their basic needs met before they can develop onto the next stage. He proposed five key levels;
physiology, safety, belongingness, esteem and self actualisation. Each level needs to be fulfilled to
process to the next. With this in mind Maslov s theory suggests that children and adults cannot reach
their full potential unless there needs are met. This theory is strongly represented within the social
services sector and within the care sector (Green, 2009). Smidt (2006) highlighted that the way in
which childhood is perceived changes overtime; adults construct an image of what childhood should
be. The images of childhood and the way children are perceived are influenced by economics, politics,
religion and class. This is evident within theorists differing views of children and their theories and
helps us to understand why these differ. Smidt (2006) suggested all areas of development are strongly
interrelated thus a delay in language development, for example, can hinder the child s social or
emotional development. For children to understand emotions they need to discuss their feelings, so
require the social interaction and language to discuss this.

Marx s Theory On Class Conflict And Society Essay
Since the french and industrial revolution in 18 century, the world had come to a new era: capitalist
society. Capitalism represents a big step forward in human productive abilities compared with
previous forms of society. Along with the social development, there was a new group of people who
was called the sociologist who analyze and try to understand how this society works. Marx was one of
them and his ideas were influential. His theory mostly emphasis on class conflict and the society from
economic aspects. This essay will first analyze Marx s theory in detail. Then I will explain how
economy and social conflict related to Marx s theory along with the role of these factors in the
capitalist society.
Marx defined social class as the class which sets the scene and moves things forward. He sometimes
talked about there are only two classes: Bourgeoisie and proletariat, the class in itself and the class for
itself, sometimes talked about there are many numbers of classes such as capitalist, working class and
landowner. There is no simple unambiguous, and universally accepted body of Marxist doctrine. As
Bob Jessop said, the thoughts of Marx in his life time were various and far ranging. In general, Marx
refers bourgeoisies as capitalists and they are major class in that period leading into industrialization.
And he thinks the petty bourgeoisie as middle classes who cannot see themselves as part of class, only
as individual. The last one, the proletariat, was described by

  • 2. Harvey Mason And The Canopus Drums Harvey Mason is probably the most recorded and most influential drummer /percussionist in this genre. proclaims Nathan East, member of fOURPLAY, prominent Jazz, R B, and Rock artist. Mr. Mason was born February 22nd, 1947 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He is international known as a drummer. Harvey Mason can play the Canopus Drums, Sabian cymbals, Remo drumheads, DW pedals, Vic Firth drumsticks, and Roc N Soc drum thrones. To add to that astonishing list, he even has his own signature drumstick and Vic Firth Harvey Mason Chameleon signature drumstick. In past years, he used various instruments such as Gretsch Drums, Premier drums, Rogers Drums, Tana Drums, Zildjian Cymbals, Toca percussion and Gibraltar Hardware. I do not know what those are but Harvey Mason had to be a great musician to master all those instruments. Since a young age Harvey Mason never had a problem picking up beats. He remembers lying in bed at night, locking into the rolling groove of his mother s washing machine, fluffing his pillow into a ball and playing along to it with his fingers. Harvey started taking formal drum lessons at age 7, playing in school groups eventually purchasing his first drum set at 16 years old. He played so amazingly well that Atlantic City s Wonder Gardens Club proprietor, Sonny McCall, got a unique permit just so the teenaged Mason could play there without any trouble. Harvey proceeded with his musical training first at the Berklee School of Music, then on full grant to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Descriptive Essay On Monument Valley Discovery A trip to visit Monument Valley took me through the mystifying canyons and desert flats of Utah consecrated by the indigenous Navajo people for their natural beauty. I did not realize that my journey on a winding road through the sovereign Navajo Nation would have such a profound effect on me when I first arrived at Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. Amidst the towering auburn stones and fine sands, the Valley began to perform a ballad of whispering winds and endless sky. This performance detailed the relationship between man and nature in Monument Valley and even the largest lens cannot capture the landscape. I began to interpret Monument Valley (see appendix A) and its importance to me as an example of true nature that I encountered early in my childhood in movies. It was naive to believe that my childhood recollections of grayscale Western films did it justice, so I set out on a journey to discover the landscape in person. While my original memories will endure, the enchanting effects of the Valley of the Rocks on my soul is only relivable amidst the great stones of the Colorado Plateau. Revered across the world for its unique physical features, the Colorado Plateau (see appendix B) has become synonymous with natural wonder. I took up the task of visiting the expansive area in August of 2017 to as an odyssey of discovery, and immediately noticed the uniqueness of the landscape. Upon arrival, it became clear that the Navajo cared for their natural spaces in a meticulous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of Dear Gentrification, I Was Here Before You Even if you woke up with the skin of Lupita, looking like you just bathed yourself in a tub of coconut oil and the sweat of Jesus. Suddenly, your neighborhood is cleaner, the police come faster, and your garbage doesn t sit too long outside (Agbaje, 2017). This is quote is from the author and the article, Dear Gentrification, I was Here Before You, by Soré Agbaje: discussing the issues of gentrification within her community. Gentrification is the act of putting in buildings and companies normally used by the middle class but is generally seen as luxuries to the lower class community. There are many ways to look at this image by Brittany Hutson and those aspects include; looking at the image and the meaning behind it, the audience meant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are several attended audiences for this specific picture. The one audience is the businessmen that are putting up the signs; they see the kind of community it is, and they see where their businesses are about to be operating at. They probably feel positive about this action because they probably feel as if they are improving the economy of this specific area. The workers for the businessmen are the next people this sign is attended for, they can see what they re taking down and what they about to be constructing to improve the surrounding area. They probably do not display any type of emotion because this is their job to take down, and reconstruct new buildings all the time. The workers will probably do not think about how these luxury condos will affect the nearby families. However, on the side note they are probably okay with doing this job because it is helping them support their own families. The locals are another audience that is attended for this picture, they will be able to connect with this because they will know what s going on in their community. This action is going to affect the rest of their lives and it will make them think about if they need to find a new home out of the community or try to stay and keep up with newly growing economy. This can affect their lives because they might not have the resources to move so then if the surrounding property taxes, mortgage, and other housing costs go up ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Sammy in Updike s A P Essay The main character in John Updike s short story A P is Sammy. The story s first person context gives the reader a unique insight toward the main character s own feelings and choices, as well as the reasons for the choices. The reader is allowed to closely observe Sammy s observations and first impressions of the three girls who come to the grocery store on a summer afternoon in the early 1960s. In order to understand this short story, one must first recognize the social climate of the era, the age of the main character, and the temptation this individual faces. Sammy is a product of his generation. In the 1960s the social climate was changing. The new ideas of the youth were taking over the traditions of their parents. Music and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This seems almost ridiculous as far as today s standards, where in the grocery store, people wear garments that vary from business suits to skimpy pajamas and bedroom slippers wandering the produce section. One has to wonder what Sammy would do if he worked in a grocery store today! The other side of the culture of the time is the rebellious attitude that Sammy has toward his boss. So I say I quit to Lengel quick enough for them to hear, hoping they ll stop and watch me, their unsuspected hero (81). He quits because the manager has embarrassed the girls. He throws caution to the wind and walks away from his job, but remembering his manners, politely leaves his bow tie and apron behind. He wants to throw off all his responsibilities and follow these girls wherever they are going, and instead of listening to the good reasoning of his manager, he does as he pleases. Some of this rebellious attitude can certainly be chalked up to age. Sammy is a teenage boy who is confronted with three nearly unclothed girls on a hot day in the summer. Instead of being outside having fun, he s stuck inside working at a menial job. These girls are a carrot dangling on a stick, just out of his reach. He decides to take matters into his own hands and cut the string holding the carrot, even though the girls are gone by the time he gets outside. It is characteristic of teenagers to do as they ... • 6. Electronic Health Care Case Study The implementation of new information technology systems into existing organizations is not a new concept as the possible process improvements for a business can be fairly obvious when compared to more traditional non computer based processes. One sector, which for the most part is transitioning into using information systems in an attempt to improve processes, is the health sector. This report observes and analyses multiple real life cases of health care providers from the United States who have decided to upgrade from traditional paper based patient charts to computer based Electronic Health Records (EHR). It should be noted that all of the case studies observed in this report were created by the Centre for Aging Services Technologies who describe themselves as being focused on development, evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies in the medical sector. The Centre for Aging Services Technologies is an international group made up of 400 technology companies research universities and government representatives. The United States government describes Electronic Health Records as being digital versions of a patients paper chart (Healthit.gov, 2014). Electronic health records typically include information on patients including the patient s medical history, medications the patient takes, treatment plans, immunization dates, allergies, radiology images and test results. With this being said it would first seem that EHR s are simple data collection and storage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Negative Campaigning Toward A Tipping Point Negative Campaigning Toward a Tipping Point Opposition research is a key part in modern campaigns, however the increase in negative campaigning coupled with advancements in research techniques will create a more hostile election cycle. Negative campaigning has been a method that helped control those with a lot of outside factors affecting them prior to being elected. The right campaign ad with fact checked information is an amazing asset to a campaign team. Media has progressed to a point where they demand live, off the cuff news twenty four seven from the campaign trail. This makes it hard for the well calculated responses the political community is used to less desirable. The right conditions have been meet to allow for an anomaly to take advantage of negative campaigning and using more media desirable taglines to gain popularity. This popularity comes at a cost however; the cost is damaging the success of getting the public to be more involved in politics. Many organizations, politically affiliated and otherwise, have been created for the purpose of getting the public to vote on election day. These organizations strive to ensure the average person understands how important it is to vote for yourself and the community. Unfortunately, negatively campaigning has been shown to disillusion the public and demotivate them to get involved in the political process. With the general public getting less involved, the opportunity for the more devoted and the more extreme to gain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Anne Carson Essay Kiersten Baxley Professor Shirokova English 1102 12 September 2012 Anne Carson s Lessons Anne Carson is a very intelligent and well rounded writer. When I first read Anne Carson s Short Talks , I was seriously confused. At first, I thought she was an abstract writer that wrote just to write. But then I took a second look at her work and realized there was much more to it than just crazy jumbled ideas. Short Talks is a mixture of many elements. It has argumentation, facts, personal opinions, and an unconventional way of writing. As I was rereading the Short Talks , I noticed names, facts, and a lesson to go along with each Short Talk. Elektra took this very hard, so she and her brother Orestes plotted revenge against her mother and step father. Elektra s father had been against things like this, but Elektra became so bitter she began to commit many crimes. So this short talk helps us decide between what is major and minor in our life. This helps to keep from overreacting over the small things in life. Another lesson comes from the short talk On Reading. This takes the reader back to their childhood. No, not everyone enjoys reading, but it is also great for you. In this short talk I got the imagery that this little girl was on a road trip with her parents, her father does not enjoy reading but she does. So while on the way to their destination, she reads Madame Bovary. While reading she takes a moment to look around at the sights passing through the window. This just gets the reader to truly think and assess the way they perceive the way they view reading. Having someone who enjoys reading, and someone who finds no pleasure in reading is what makes the world go round. Not everyone appreciates, or finds interest in the same things, but do not discourage anyone if you have no interest in it. If I were to write some short talks I could use an Anne Carson like writing style, or writing that flows eloquently. I would try to help the reader to understand what is being said, but to also think about what is before them. I would include an introduction in my short talks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. What Is Socrates Claim That The Unexamined Life Is Not... I have long been intrigued by the claim, attributed to Socrates, that the unexamined life is not worth living . For a start, there is the absolute and uncompromising tone of the language, not worth living . Why not set the bar lower and simply claim that an examined life is better than the alternative or that it s useful to think about things before acting? Perhaps the quotation was framed with a fair measure of rhetorical flourish. On the other hand, what if the words were meant to be taken at face value? What could lead a person to say that a certain type of life is not worth living? I do not (and cannot) know precisely what the historical Socrates had mind. This understanding is, unsurprisingly, unoriginal a bog standard , this worldly form of humanism. Despite this, I still find it useful to discuss. Although it seems rather obvious, I think that the key to understanding Socrates claim is to recognise it as being addressed to those who participate in human Being (that form of Being that is distinctive to humans). For Socrates (as for many others then and since) human Being is marked by the capacity to transcend instinct and desire and to make conscious, ethical choices. This is not to deny that instinct and desire have the power to shape human behaviour (at least as powerfully as they do in the case of other forms of being ant, cow, fish, etc.). However, while I think it highly unlikely that any lion would not kill an antelope out of concern for the children of its prey, I know that many human beings can and do act against the urgings of instinct and desire simply because they think that to act would be wrong. There need be no restraining hand, no accusing witness. Rather, a simple belief that some act is wrong will regulate behavior even if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Chaucer s Corrupt Church Life since the fourteenth century has changed tremendously in almost every aspect; perhaps one of the best changes took place in the Church. In Geoffrey Chaucer s day, the Church was extremely corrupt. Most clergy members were not as holy and sinless as they should have been or let on to be. Although Chaucer did not blatantly state his feelings about the corrupt Church, which was too powerful at the time to criticize directly, one can clearly see his position by reading the General Prologue of one of his now famous books, The Canterbury Tales. Chaucer s disgust with the corrupt clergy, which happened to be most of them, is especially evident in the way he describes three of his characters: the monk, the friar, and the pardoner. Chaucer s monk, a supposed man of God, admits otherwise. In the code of monks written by St. Benedict, hunting is considered the act of a sinful man because it was believed that while hunting, a man could not have thoughts of divine things because he is consumed by the hunt. Even knowing this, the monk in the General Prologue admits that he enjoys hunting and even goes as far as saying he lives for it. Monks were supposed to do nothing but study and pray. Now many people argue they re in middle school, and they re older now, meaning we have to be independent anyway. It s as simple as this; newborns know very little about the world and how it works as to new students knowing very little about new schools and how they work. So regardless of maturity or age, people need to be dependent before they can be independent, and the ambassador program is a good form of that temporary dependence. Another benefit of the ambassador program would be that it would allow new students to become comfortable and gain a form of confidence. It s important for new student/staff to be comfortable because if they weren t think of how difficult it would be for them to focus not only in class but just in general. Like any business, you want to generate as much revenue as possible compared to your expenses, so while the cost of a college degree can be expensive, it clearly has a demand comparable to that of its price (Heakal). As this is stated directly on Yale s website, it very accurately reflects how it expects the students to be dependent upon their family in order to receive an education at their school. • 29. The Constitutional Basis Of Personal Jurisdiction Jurisdiction Personal jurisdiction refers to the ability of a court to exercise its power over a particular defendant or item of property. Personal jurisdiction may be categorized as in personam, in rem, or quasi in rem. The primary restraints on a court s power to exercise personal jurisdiction are found in the United States Constitution, state statutes, and case law. The Constitutional basis for personal jurisdiction comes from the due process clause of the 14th Amendment. The statutory basis comes from most states adopting what is called a long arm statute that states the limits of personal jurisdiction that a state has over the defendant. Most long arm statutes, including CA, state that their personal jurisdiction may be exercised up to the limits of the constitution. There are two types of personal jurisdiction: specific jurisdiction and general jurisdiction. A court will have specific jurisdiction when the activities that gave rise to the case happened in the forum state and general jurisdiction occurs when the activities that gave rise were unrelated to the forum state. Specific jurisdiction is easier to find than general jurisdiction. Pennoyer v. Neff, 95 U.S. 714 (1878) established four ways to attain general jurisdiction: 1) the defendant s presence in the forum state, including corporations, 2) if the defendant is a domicile of the forum state, 3) if the defendant consented to being sued in the forum state, and 4) Quasi in Rem (the suit of the thing), where ... • 30. Piaget s Theory Of Cognitive Ability Welcome to the exciting and adventurous camp of Cognitive Ability, where we challenge and cherish the precious minds of babies and teens through our fun activities of psychology through Piaget s theory of cognitive ability. Piaget s theory of cognitive ability was designed to distinguish the age at which a child s cognitive ability was developed through the stages in which he classified as sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational and formal operational (Lutz Huitt, 2004). The goal of the camp is to define how children learn, remember, pay attention, and problem solve through each child s development pace by a series of educational activities for all to enjoy. The sensorimotor stage activities will consist primarily of age s birth to about two years. The child will be given a choice of toys to play with such as stuffed animals, building blocks or a rattle. Each toy will either produce a sound. During the main activity, one of the instructors will give the child the rattle to play with by first showing the rattle to the baby and then shaking the rattle. As the baby looks at the rattle they will be startled or surprised by the sound and wonder why and where it came from. The instructor will then give the rattler to the baby and then they will shake it. The baby will gradually understand they are causing the sound, therefore motor skills and sensory perceptions are established. In the sensorimotor stage, infants will realize that their actions through sense and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Within Victoria, as of December 2011, 4165 offenders had been registered and it is estimated that by the year 2020, there will be 10,000 registrations by then (Victorian Law Reform Commission, 2012). Within Australia today there are only a few states which have an established registry such as Western Australia and The Northern Territory. Other states within Australia such as New South Wales have indicated that they have been working to establish a registry. Having a sex offender registry is extremely crucial and beneficial to people in the community as it enables them to feel protected and constantly informed of the whereabouts of sex offenders within their community. Community s response to official Sex Offender registers In December 2012 the Western Australian Legislative Assembly passed the Community Protection Amendment Bill. Energy Self Sufficiency in Building through Photovoltaic Cells ABSTRACT Solar energy is a way to acquire self sufficiency of many residential buildings. The different forms of solar cells made from different materials and in different ways are able to increase the efficiency of the solar cells and allow solar energy to become more widespread. Due to the possibility of a shortage of fossil fuels in the near future, solar power can serve as an integral component in solving the energy crisis through developing energy self sufficient buildings. However, after researching many already published materials, the possibility of allowing the world s buildings to become self sufficient is not possible unless other solar cells become ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To cause a current to flow through the cells and create an electrical current, the semiconductor incorporates a p n junction, which is when p type silicon is placed next to n type silicon. The electrons will then flow towards the positive side of the solar cells instead of in random directions (see figure 1). These semiconductors are usually made out of silicon, which, when in different forms can have efficiency from 16% to 32%. The efficiency of a photovoltaic cell is measured by the ratio of the amount of solar energy it converts to electrical energy to the total amount of solar energy that hits the cell (Department of Energy 2004). Figure 1: The Photovoltaic Effect, Converting Light Energy to Electrical Energy Source: Walker 2004 Photovoltaic Cells 4 The idea of photovoltaic cells is based on Albert Einstein s photoelectric effect. The photoelectric effect describes the effect of certain energies of light on different materials. Photons are able to dislodge electrons from the material when the energy of the photons exceeds the energy needed to dislodge an electron from the material plus the kinetic energy of electron. However, if the photon does not have enough energy, the electron is unable to escape and remains in the material. Bell Labs first put these cells to use in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It follows four Afghan women journalists struggles in balancing the demands of a highly conservative culture on the one hand, and the objectives of their Canadian journalism trainers on the other. Kamal explains that Media development takes on many different forms in different areas of the world. Rather than being a force for sustaining difference, the media is deliberately employed by media development organisations as a vehicle for challenging unequal gender relations. Women s rights and social justice are promoted in media content, and women s participation is often a precondition for funding for media projects. She ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the radio station had officially been granted a licence from the Ministry of Information and Culture in Kabul, Ismail Khan s power base in the west was very strong, and the central government had very little power to enforce its policies in Herat. As a result, during the process of setting up the radio station, there was much concern when Ismail Khan chose not to offer any written guarantee that the operation would receive his sanction. He was, however, an advocate of women s education. By describing the women s radio station as a tool for women s instruction and culture, and inviting the Canadian ambassador to Afghanistan to the radio station s launch, Radio Sahar was able to receive Ismail Khan s last minute support. Radio Sahar was launched in October 2003. The women usually had very little time to prepare the shows; they would use the time available to them during the playing of songs or pre packaged programmes to plan for the next day (and on all too frequent bad days, for the next half hour) of radio broadcasts. The designated host would pre script introductions to shows when she could, and practise excerpts of poetry to declaim on the air, while the designated helpers would call and invite guests to lecture, or participate in occasional roundtables. Kehliy (2009) suggests children have four basics needs; the need for love and security, new experiences, praise and recognition and responsibility. Children have the potential to develop to their full capacity with these needs met. Maslov in his hierarchy of needs highlighted that children need their basic needs met before they can develop onto the next stage. He proposed five key levels; physiology, safety, belongingness, esteem and self actualisation. Each level needs to be fulfilled to process to the next. With this in mind Maslov s theory suggests that children and adults cannot reach their full potential unless there needs are met. This theory is strongly represented within the social services sector and within the care sector (Green, 2009). Smidt (2006) highlighted that the way in which childhood is perceived changes overtime; adults construct an image of what childhood should be. The images of childhood and the way children are perceived are influenced by economics, politics, religion and class. This is evident within theorists differing views of children and their theories and helps us to understand why these differ. Smidt (2006) suggested all areas of development are strongly interrelated thus a delay in language development, for example, can hinder the child s social or emotional development. For children to understand emotions they need to discuss their feelings, so require the social interaction and language to discuss this. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Marx s Theory On Class Conflict And Society Essay Since the french and industrial revolution in 18 century, the world had come to a new era: capitalist society. Capitalism represents a big step forward in human productive abilities compared with previous forms of society. Along with the social development, there was a new group of people who was called the sociologist who analyze and try to understand how this society works. Marx was one of them and his ideas were influential. His theory mostly emphasis on class conflict and the society from economic aspects. This essay will first analyze Marx s theory in detail. Then I will explain how economy and social conflict related to Marx s theory along with the role of these factors in the capitalist society. Marx defined social class as the class which sets the scene and moves things forward. He sometimes talked about there are only two classes: Bourgeoisie and proletariat, the class in itself and the class for itself, sometimes talked about there are many numbers of classes such as capitalist, working class and landowner. There is no simple unambiguous, and universally accepted body of Marxist doctrine. As Bob Jessop said, the thoughts of Marx in his life time were various and far ranging. In general, Marx refers bourgeoisies as capitalists and they are major class in that period leading into industrialization. And he thinks the petty bourgeoisie as middle classes who cannot see themselves as part of class, only as individual. The last one, the proletariat, was described by ...
