1.0 Company Background
MTL Construction Sdn. Bhd. is a construction company set up in year 2017 by 3
members who are Calvin Wong Kim Ming, Chiang Lin Chew and Ong Chia Hong that who
are experienced in construction industry for over 10 years. MTL Construction Sdn. Bhd. is a
construction company that we start up with RM1 million as capital.
MTL Construction Sdn. Bhd. is a construction company expertise in industrialized
building system. It was founded upon the passion to deliver our clients’ aspiration on their
project. As a company specialize industrialized building system, MTL’s brand and reputation
are built on our delivery, expertise in IBS. With our expertise and experience we are able to
tailor fully-integrated and cost-effective solutions for our clients, delivering effective design
and build services.
MTL Construction Sdn. Bhd. has a total number 20 full time staffs in offices and over
120 employees on the site. Driven by our vision of Striving for Excellence in areas of our
expertise and powered by a brunch of experienced and dynamic team, MTL soars even higher
in the years to come.

A vision statement defines the optimal desired future state the mental picture of
what an organization wants to achieve over and provides guidance and
inspiration as to what an organization is focused on achieving in five, ten, or
more years.

Vision is the ultimate goal of an organization. We continue a commitment to
excellence by striving for quality in every project regardless of size, budget or
timeline. As we aim to be one of the top construction company in Malaysia, our
services will expand to provide the best services to our clients.
3.0 MISSION STATEMENT
Mission statements are statements that defines plans and directions to achieve
the vision. Mission statement may consist of one or more statements. A good
mission statement provides answer to reasons behind the existence of a
company and what the company wants to achieve in a shorter period of time as
compared to a vision. It is a statement that expresses how an organization
achieve the vision, which is the ultimate goal of the organization.

As a start to our development plan for the company, MTL Construction Sdn.
Bhd. wishes to hire 3 different management trainees into the company.
1) Accountant
Responsibilities:-
1. Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and
analyzing account information.
2. Handle financial transactions within the company by entering account

3. Summarizing current financial status.
4. Suggests ways to reduce cost, increasing company revenue and profit.
5. Preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.
6. Suggesting company policies regarding the company’s accounts.
7. Maintaining financial security of the company.
8. Prepares payments by verifying documentation, and requesting
disbursements.
Requirement:-
1. Must have a qualification of diploma/degree in account/finance
management or higher.
2. Have at least 2-3 years working experiences in relevant field.
3. Able to use Microsoft software or any other useful accounting software.
4. Able to speak English, Chinese and Malay fluently.
2) Site Supervisor
Responsibilities:-
1. Supervise and monitor the employees working on site.
2. Manages subcontractors bylocating, evaluating, and selecting
subcontractors
3. Fully capable of meeting construction budget by monitoring project
expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions;
providing non-project annual operating and capital budget information.
4. Supervise the progress of the site according to the schedule.
5. Meets operational standards by contributing construction information to
strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity,
quality, and customer-service standards;resolving problems on site.

6. Able to suggest improvements to the construction management systems.
7. Accomplishes construction project results by defining project purpose
and scope;calculating resources required; establishing standards and
protocols.
Requirement:-
1. Must have a qualification of diploma in building/ degree in construction
management or higher.
2. At least have 2-4 years working experiences in relevant industry field.
3. Experienced in Structural and building M&E works.
4. Capable of reading architectural drawings
5. Able to distribute manpower and resources wisely.
6. Good leadership and communication skills and can work independently.
7. Able to speak English, Chinese and Malay fluently.
3) Project Engineer
Responsibilities:-
1. Develop project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans;
conferring with management.
2. Deciding on project responsibilities by identifying project phases and
elements.
3. Determines project specifications by studying productdesign, customer
requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies;
preparing costestimates.
4. Confirms productperformance by designing and conducting tests.
5. Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications;
calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements.
6. Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and
schedule changes.

7. Prepares project status reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing
information and trends.
Requirement:-
1. Must have a qualification of diploma/ degree or higher in project
management or civil/mechanical engineering.
2. At least have 3-5 years working experiences in relevant industry field.

4. Familiar in the manufacturing methods and procedures.
5. Good documentation and design skills.
6. Good leadership and communication skills and can work independently.
7. Able to speak English, Chinese and Malay fluently.
2.0 INTERVIEW ACTIVITIES
Practical Tasks
This assessment will test how the candidates will make critical decision in a
group when given a task to solve. The task may or may not be related to the job
description. As a group, each member will work together to figure out a solution
to the task given. It involves each member participating in the discussionby
contributing to their own opinions. This activity is to determine each member’s
ability to communicate and work as a team. Furthermore, this assessmentalso
assesses creative potential of the interviewees.
Case Studies
In this group interview task, each group would receive a brief based on a
scenario which the interviewees would face as an employee for the company.

The brief will outline certain problems for the interviewees to solve as a team.
This activity discerns the analytic, creativity and problem-solving skills of the
members. As such, it can also assess their attention to details and time
management skills. Furthermore, it reviews the confidence of the candidates to
be able to defend and justify their respective answers.
Face to face interview
Face to face interviews are oldest and most reliable way of collecting data on
the interviewees. It allows an interviewer to directly communicate with the
respondent in accordancewith the prepared questionnaire. This enables
interviewer to acquire factual information, attitude, preferences and other
information during the conversation with the respondent.

Purpose:To have a rough impression on the personbeing interviewed.

Purpose:To determine an individual’s maturity level and ability to render

III. RESPONSIBILITY
Purpose:To determine an applicant’s willingness to acceptresponsibility and to
be accountable for his or her actions that they have taken.

IV. RELATIONSHIPS
Purpose:To determine whether the applicant has the mean of working with
other people.

3.0 DevelopmentPlan

A performance-based employee development plan uses the annual

performance appraisal of an employee to review their previous
accomplishments, capabilities in order to establish goals for the next
upcoming year. These goals can be company related such as increasing
productivity, or personal goals that are designed to improve an employee’s
skills or education. An example would be, when a department manager
instructs their employee to complete an education classes based on their
skill within the next 6 months. As a result, that goal can improve the
employee’s skills to prepare him or her for future roles within the company.
Another way to constructa goal from the performance-based employee
development plan is to build upon the skills the employee already has to
challenge him to improve for the next step in his career.
Task 3
1.0 Definition of Information Management and Information
Technology
Information, in today’s world, consists of both electronic and physical
information. Information management (IM) is the collection and management of
information from one or more sources and the distribution of that information to
one or more audiences where an organization has control over the structure,
processing and delivery of information. On the other hand, Information
technology is defined as a set of methodologies, tools and processes that are
associated with equipment that are meant to collect, process and present
information.
2.0Cloud Computing
Definition:-
Cloud computing or simply known as “The Cloud” is a type of computing that
relies on sharing computer resources instead of traditionally having local servers
or personal devices to handle delivering on-demand computing resources. The
cloud is comprised of different services such as servers, storage and application
that are delivered to an individual or an organization’s computer via the
internet.
Benefits to the company

The benefits of cloud computing to our company are that it greatly increases the
efficiency and speed of collaboration within the company. This is because we
can now instantly share any ongoing projects that multiple people collaborating
on thus increasing the employee’s productivity drastically. An example would
be if there were ongoing overseas project, our employee’s station in the other
country could upload the ongoing progress of the project of to the cloud so that
the relevant employee’s working on it could quickly be updated. As a result,
this could reduce the amount of time needed to complete the project and also
provide our employees with a more flexible work practice as an employee can
also continue their projects at home or anywhere else. Another reason is that it
could help reduce the need of an in-house server to store all the company’s data.
This can help us reduce the costof maintaining a server or even eliminating the
need of a server as all the data would be stored in the cloud. By paying a small
monthly subscription fee to a cloud storage service we can eliminate the costof
maintaining a server for the company. By using cloud storage, we can also
guarantee the safety of our data as there is little to no chance of the cloud
system shutting down or breaking down and losing all of our data.
3.0Building Information Modelling (BIM)
There are a variety of information and information management systems in the
market and we had chosen Building Information Modeling (BIM) as our
primary information management system. Building Information Modeling
(BIM) is an intelligent 5D model - based process that gives architecture,
engineering, and construction (AEC) professionals the insight and tools to more
efficiently plan, design, construct, and manage buildings and infrastructure.
BIM is information modelling and information management in a team
environment, all the team members should be working to the same standards as
one another. BIM is a technology that everyone can understand a building
through the use of a digital model which draws on a range of data assembled
collaboratively, before during and after construction. BIM technology supports
architects throughout the design process.It gains more insight earlier in the
process to optimize designs for clients’ requirements.The reason why our
company chooseto use BIM on our organization because it helps to
improve the understanding of building operation and to make adaptations,
renovations, additions and alterations to the building faster and less costthan

through traditional processes.By using BIM in our organization, it creates
efficiencies and it helps to reduce the need for regathering and reformatting
information. This may help to increase in the speed and accuracy of transmitted
information, reduction of costs associated with a lack of interoperability,
automation of checking and analysis and unprecedented supportof operation
and maintenance activities and also making changes in the field. This result that
we get to become more proficient, the opportunities to improve productivity are
more pronounced. Productivity gain is one of the major advantages of using
BIM, it will gain through its ability to minimize project, foster communication
and coordination, identify errors early, reduce costand also improve quality of
work. BIM give a collaborative working platform which is what Modern
Method of Construction (MMC) hinges upon. This all has conceivably wide-
achieving suggestions for the reception of offsite advancements. The outline can
be finalized more comprehensively and prior, decreasing and eliminating the
requirement for sudden changes amid development. At the point when this
