Taiz University (TU) has a hundreds of computing resources on different campuses for use in areas from offices work to general access student labs. However, these resources are not used to their full potential. Grid computing is a technology that is capable to unify these resources and utilize them in very significant way. The difficulties of funding a complete grid computing environment and also, the difficulties of grid tools makes teachers and researchers in TU unable to involve in teaching and research in grid computing or in distributed computing. These problems raised up our awareness to mitigate this problem by build a simple environment for Grid computing from resources are available in TU and the built environment we can use it for teaching and research. The objective of this paper is to build, implement and testing a grid computing environment (Globus Toolkit). To achieving this objective we built the hardware and software parts, and configured several basic grid services commands line and web portal. The test result for basic grid services have been indicated that our proposed grid computing model is promising and can use in teaching and research in TU. The paper takes a look at how grid computing is realizing this aim and have created unbelievable opportunities for students, teachers and researchers at TU in addition the result of this paper will make TU a pilot to the other universities in whole Yemen in field of Grid and distributing computing.

This paper provides a review of orchestration distributed systems for IoT smart services in fog computing. The cloud infrastructure alone cannot handle the flow of information with the abundance of data, devices and interactions. Thus, fog computing becomes a new paradigm to overcome the problem. One of the first challenges was to build the orchestration systems to activate the clouds and to execute tasks throughout the whole system that has to be considered to the situation in the large scale of geographical distance, heterogeneity and low latency to support the limitation of cloud computing. Some problems exist for orchestration distributed in fog computing are to fulfil with high reliability and low-delay requirements in the IoT applications system and to form a larger computer network like a fog network, at different geographic sites. This paper reviewed approximately 68 articles on orchestration distributed system for fog computing. The result shows the orchestration distribute system and some of the evaluation criteria for fog computing that have been compared in terms of Borg, Kubernetes, Swarm, Mesos, Aurora, heterogeneity, QoS management, scalability, mobility, federation, and interoperability. The significance of this study is to support the researcher in developing orchestration distributed systems for IoT smart services in fog computing focus on IR4.0 national agenda.

Abstract Smart Grid (SG) is an intelligent electricity network that incorporates advanced information, control and communication technologies to increase the reliability of existing power grid. With advanced communication and information technologies, smart grid deploys complex information management model. This paper presents a cloud service based information management model which opens the issues and benefits from the perspective of both smart grid domain and cloud domain of system model. The overall cost of data management includes storage, computation, upload, download and communication costs which need to be optimized. This paper provides an optimization framework for reducing the overall cost for data management and integration in smart grid model. In this paper, the optimization model focuses on optimizing the size of data items to be stored in the clouds under concern. The types of data items to be stored in the clouds are considered as customer behavior data and Phasor Measurement Units (PMU) data in the smart grid environment. The management model usually comprises of four domains viz., smart grid domain, cloud domain, broker domain and network domain. The present work focuses mainly on smart grid and cloud domain and optimization of cost related to these domains for simplicity of model considered. The proposed model is optimized using various evolutionary optimization techniques such as Genetic Algorithm (GA), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Differential Evolution (DE). The results of various techniques when implemented for proposed model are compared in terms of performance measures and a most suitable technique is identified for cloud based data management. The paper describes in details the use cases of the whole platform embedding Big Data and artificial intelligence (AI) engine predicting network attacks. The platform has been tested by Tree Ensemble algorithm classifying and predicting anomalous server logs of possible attacks. The data logs are collected in Cassandra Big Data System enabling the AI training model. The work has been developed within the framework of a research industry project.

Software Defined Networking, the emerging technology is taking the network sector to a new variant. Due to an exponential growth in the number of user and the amount of information over wires, there arises a great risk with the existing IP Network architecture. Software Defined Networking paves a platform identifying a feasible solution to the problem by virtualization. Software Defined Networking provides a viable path in virtualization and managing the network resources in an “On Demand Manner”. This study is focused on the drawbacks of the existing technology and a fine grained introduction to Software Defined Networking. Further adding to the above topic, this study also passes over the current steps taken in the industrial sector in implementing Software Defined Networking. IoT applications usually rely on cloud computing services to perform data analysis such as filtering, aggregation, classification, pattern detection, and prediction. When applied to specific domains, the IoT needs to deal with unique constraints. Besides the hostile environment such as vibration and electricmagnetic interference, resulting in malfunction, noise, and data loss, industrial plants often have Internet access restricted or unavailable, forcing us to design stand-alone fog and edge computing solutions. In this context, we present STEAM++, a lightweight and extensible framework for real-time data stream processing and decision-making in the network edge, targeting hardware-limited devices, besides proposing a micro-benchmark methodology for assessing embedded IoT applications. In real-case experiments in a semiconductor industry, we processed an entire data flow, from values sensing, processing and analysing data, detecting relevant events, and finally, publishing results to a dashboard. On average, the application consumed less than 500kb RAM and 1.0% of CPU usage, processing up to 239 data packets per second and reducing the output data size to 14% of the input raw data size when notifying events.
