Man is a social animal for several key reasons: 1) Man has to live in society for his existence and welfare, as he feels the need of society in almost all aspects of his life. A completely isolated life is unbearable for man and he cannot develop into a normal individual in isolation. 2) Aristotle said "Man is a social animal. He who lives without society is either a beast or God." Man learns all his social qualities from society itself. 3) Society not only fulfills man's physical needs and determines his social nature, but also determines his personality and guides the development of the human mind. Man cannot exist at all without belonging to some society.
