The student created a series of photographs for a music magazine. Their goal was to portray images in a futuristic, colorful style rather than natural images. However, some photos like image 4 did not fit the music theme. Technically, the ISO could have been higher to brighten blurry shots from long shutter speeds without a tripod. Editing in Photoshop increased contrast and brightness too much, making the images appear over-edited. Feedback found the editing weakened the futuristic goal. Varied angles and heights captured the subjects professionally, but focus on post-processing is needed to better achieve artistic intentions.

6. Theme or focus of image & reasons for choice
The overall theme of my images is to show a very strange and colourful image. I
wanted to bring across the parts of images that people miss and don’t take into
consideration. An example of this would be the image above this shows my friend
and a guitar this is fo a music magazine and the way the edit is very blue and bright
shows a futuristic and colourful side. The reason I went for this theme is so that people
may be attracted to the futuristic part instead of the extremely natural images your
used to seeing. The focus of the image above is the face and guitar as its for a music
magazine. The 5th
image is a quirky image with a view to make it iconic. I feel the
theme of my images came through quite strong however in some images seem to
lose the focus of the theme such as in image 4 the image is very different and dosent
have much to do with music and this is not what my theme is.

7. Techniques Used
In my images the ISO was ok however it could have been higher as my images were
very bright. I feel like the shutter speed was on for too long as some off my Images are
very blurry. I did ad a blur effect however the original image was blurry as I didn’t
focus the camera properly. When taking my images I used a tripod a so my images
weren’t extremely blurry and my images would look more professional. In my images I
used the rule of thirds so that the main focus point was the part of the persons faces
which I wanted the viewers to see. Also when taking my images I went to different
heights so that my images were not just from a worms eye view and then the images
show off the people in a better light.
Strengths & suggested improvements
In my images I thought that a strength was the way my images show off the people
and guitar from different angles and heights. The reason I thought this was because
off the way that some of my images looked. I used survey monkey to get feedback
on my images and people said that the different heights of my images show off there
faces well very well. One of my questions was do you feel that my images are edited
correctly? However this turned out to be one of my weaknesses. During the editing
stage I changed the images quite allot because I tried to go for a futuristic approach.
However I feel that this didn’t come through in my images because 70% of people
thought that my images were over edited. Another strength to my images was that
my images were extremely varied as they showed off a wide range of angles and
positions which made my images look professional.
Editing details
When editing my images I loaded them into Photoshop 1 by 1. I then continued to
change the contrast and brightness of the image to make the image look more
appealing. My intension was to go for a futuristic look so that the faces looks more
interesting. However it came out wrong because I over edited them and they ended
up looking really bad. I added a colour effect around the edges because then the
area that I want people to see stands out more.
