We were tasked with creating a practice student magazine project to gain experience for an upcoming music project. Through research of existing student magazines, we found that many focused on stereotypes or used images that did not appeal to both male and female readers. To create a magazine that was different, the author conducted focus groups of fellow students to get input on content. Photoshop was used to layout and design the magazine, but challenges arose from the author's lack of experience with the software. Feedback was solicited to improve photo editing skills and produce a higher quality final product for the target audience.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

How to Make a Field invisible in Odoo 17Celine George
It is possible to hide or invisible some fields in odoo. Commonly using “invisible” attribute in the field definition to invisible the fields. This slide will show how to make a field invisible in odoo 17.
1. Preliminary Project Evaluation
We were set the task to create a student magazine as our practice project to give us as idea of what to expect for the music project. We first started looking at student magazines as it fits perfectly with age group we are targeting. Within the magazines we started to point out the psychographics and the demographics to give us idea to what to include within the magazines we were creating. Also to find out how it speaks to the preferred readers and gets the message across. During our research we have realised that most of the student magazines include lots of stereotypes about teenagers. Such stereotypes as magazines covered with bright colours such as pink, yellow, where as the preferred readers would mainly be female. Where as some of the male magazines were filled with male gaze photos which attracted them to pick it up. Within the research we figured out that most of the magazines we looked at are mainly for main streams, the types of teenagers that are following the world and don’t really care about their education but about the latest materials. But to create my own magazine I wanted it to be different and to include what I thought and wanted but it was difficult to do that because otherwise I was not listening to my audience. To get the audiences opinions, I burrowed a digital camera from the school and kindly approached fellow students asking them if they mind being part of my audience focus group. Within the recording I wasn’t able to get balance opinions from both sex, which in the end I should focus on the majority which had similar answers.
To create my student magazine I first used PowerPoint to sketch how I would like to see it turn out, to also play with and see how many ways I can make it appealing to my audience as well as giving them what they want. After that I used my friends Iphone5 to take images that I would like to include with my magazine, such as my front cover photo and my main story line photo. I did this to give the audience a taste of what they should expect.
I used a desktop publishing software to edit my photos and format my magazine, this was Photoshop. The first time I used Photoshop I found it difficult as it was something I haven’t used before, which meant I had to learn to use the new tools and software effectively. This affected my magazine because my completed product was not to the standard of someone who is familiar with the software. An advantage of using his software was that I could create a professional magazine that matched my layout design. I overcame my difficulties by asking for help and by watching YouTube videos that explained how to use Photoshop.
2. Preliminary Project Evaluation
We started off opening Photoshop and uploading a photo.
I then wanted to get the cut the photo away from the background so I used the quick select tool to select the part of the image I wanted to keep and then used the inverse to select and delete the background. This was the edit I did to get rid of the background so that I could layer my photos to create a professional look.
When creating my music magazine I would like to advance my photo shop skills as I would like to produce more professional work. I would also like to use DSLR’s as I would my images to be a high standard quality which would improve the professional look of my magazine. Furthermore I would like to improve my front cover and contents page as I don’t feel that I added enough information or made my magazine specifically for my target Audience.
I think my finished product was not to the standard I had hoped as I was new to using Photoshop and was not familiar with the software so I didn’t know how to use the advanced tools. Other than that I think I completed the task with an open mind so that my target audience would enjoy it and I think it was good.
