Looking back at my
 preliminary task
Since creating my
preliminary task I feel like I
have massively improved on
 many skills while creating
       my full product.
Photoshop
Within my full product I used many tool Photoshop
had to offer. I created a much more professional
looking magazine, with the common conventions of
a typical music magazine. I also spent more time
perfecting the images and editing them so they look
more interesting and professional. Also for my
images I planned and used a DSLR camera to get
the best results. Whereas with my preliminary task I
did not plan and used a simple digital camera,
which does not give the best results. I also created
and wrote the right type of text to appear in my
music magazine.
Planning and research
With my preliminary task there wasn’t much
research involved. Also, I did not plan what my
school magazine would look like. My preliminary
task does not look professional enough to be a real
magazine and looks like it could be achieved in a
simple software program like Microsoft publisher for
example, this is due to not having much practice in
Photoshop and not broadening my skills. From this
I have learnt that in order to create a successful
and attractive product it needs to be planned and
researched.
The audience
For my preliminary task I did not research into the
type of people who enjoy and are interested in
school magazines. Therefore, I was not able to
address the audience in the way they wanted to be
addressed, or relate to them. However, I had learnt
to do so when it came to my full product and
therefore created a questionnaire for my intended
target audience to fill out, this way I knew how to
address them. I was also able to see the kind of
things they are interested in, therefore I would have
been able to add extras to my magazine without
taking a risk.
