2. Evaluation Overview
This evaluation form is designed to assist you in the evaluation of your projects.
When using this form it is good practice to:
• Use appropriate terminology.
• Stay concise and focus on key points.
• Evaluate and analyse your statements.
• Focus on judgements about work rather than telling a story of how it was made.
Please find the grading matrix here to help you assess you are working at the right level.

3. Project Overview
In this section you will outline the aim of the project/task and give an
overview of the activates you undertook to complete it.
4. What was the theme of your project and
what attracted you to it?
The theme of my project was Social media and the negative impacts it can have on athletes, celebrities and
people in general. I was attracted to this theme because after seeing the awful and disgusting actions that
some fans produced after the final of Euro 2020 and how 3 England players received awful racist abuse across
their social media platforms and social media general. I was liked the idea of this theme because mental health
is becoming an ever growing part of society and more is been done to provide those people who suffer from
mental health.
Another attraction to this topic is that social media does really dominate the world nowadays and now things
are becoming more and more based on technology and that is why I wanted to use this topic because it meant
it was more related to those who could possibly read my fanzine.
5. What research did you undertake and how
did it help develop your project?
The research I undertook was mainly researching celebrities and athletes and finding stories about them
stepping out about mental health experiences during the early rising of their career or during the current on
going covid 19 pandemic and how these experiences they didn’t want to speak out on straight away to prevent
a media backlash which could have led to these issues becoming a more repeated thing and meaning they
would end up slowly becoming taken off by an on going battle with what ever type of mental health they
began struggling with during that point in their life.
I feel this helped me develop my project because it gave me more depth and understanding into the topic i had
picked and what I wanted to use in my fanzine.
I also had to research into the help lines for mental health because I wanted to understand what is done to
provide the people who need help the help they need to help them slowly fight their battle and come out of it
strongly and maybe end up a more improved person.
6. How did you develop and improve your ideas
throughout the project?
As I began to research and develop my understanding of certain elements of my work more ideas began
coming into my mind and this made me look at my original plan and keep making the adjustments to the plan
for the better.
I feel the research I conducted made idea development easier because it wasn’t just helping idea development
it was also helping mind development meaning as I learnt more myself it was giving me more ideas and more
detail that could be used to improve the ideas I already had or be pieces into making one big development and
changing my idea fully.
The main developments came from the idea of what can I do to make this better it wasn’t lets change this up it
was lets find my original idea and really put work and effort into developing this point or idea and really
pushing it so I get the most content out if and really make sure I am putting lots of detail in there to really show
what I am trying to show.
7. What was the outcome of the project/task?
The outcome of the project was to create a descriptive and detailed fanzine which would not only
be a good read and give people some a bit lighter than a magazine but also to create a product that
with the use of research and idea development was really pushed to a new level and it just created
something I was proud of but also something that others would enjoy also.
8. Personal Response
This section will explore your thoughts and feelings about the
experience. This will help gain a understand of how your personal
feelings may have impacted the final outcome.
9. How did you feel about the project before
you started?
Before the project started I was very nervous and I didn’t really know how things would go because
having such a long period of time away from doing anything that was like what I was about to set on
creating did worry me that I wouldn’t be able to readjust and settle back into everything like I had
last year as time had progressed.
My main worry was when it would be time to create the actual fanzine because I really had
switched off over summer and I had been focusing on getting a job so I had really just switched so
and going back into production was really worrying me that when the time came to begin this I’d
have just forgotten everything and I would end up getting frustrated and upset and end up just
creating a giant mess which just wouldn’t be graded.
I felt the research and planning stages of the project would be okay because I feel those are easier
to pick back up after time away from this type of work so that did relax the nerves knowing before I
even got to production I’d have time to slowly ease back into things and how things work on the
type of project.
10. How did you feel when the project was
completed and why?
When the project was completed I felt extremely relieved and proud of myself. I felt this way
because this been the first major project since summer it was stressful because you go from doing
basically nothing apart from your job to then been back at college 3 days a week working really hard
to show you have skills and talent.
After last year’s FMP I didn’t feel like I had done enough and felt I had left way too much on the
table and that is again how I feel a little bit I feel there is still more to be unlocked so I can really
drive my projects to the next level. I feel my research and planning go well but once it comes to the
actual production stage I start to struggle and lose my way so I want to make sure I cut this out and
give myself a clear straight forward production schedule that I stick to and follow all the way
through.
I did also feel proud because I feel like I did come across issues and challenges during this project
from losing my way to been ill and missing time I feel I really made sure I did my best to kepp on
track and do my best for our first project back.
11. Evaluating the project
In the previous sections, you have been commenting upon the project development. The
evaluation may include some similar information but it will also include critical comment.
An evaluation must include information about the good and bad points of the project and it
is important to be honest. Finally, you should make a judgment about the effectiveness of
the success of the project
12. What were the good points about the project/task and what did you
learn from them? [try and think of at least 3, more if possible]
I feel like my research was a good point. The research I had to conduct and needed for this project was
unlike any research I have done before because normally I pick topics I already have good knowledge and
just need fact checks but this project really allowed me to see a new side of the research element and as I
went about researching I was also learning it for myself so each and every step was a learning curve to
the path of success.
Another good point was my own photography from past holidays but mainly my recent trips down to
London for the NFL London games. I was lucky enough to get to go watch both games and I knew that I
had used the very few images from my 2019 visit on my FMP last year so felt this year I could get some
more meaning I could use my own work in the project now this didn’t go the way I once planned because
I used a different ides but then did add in my own images to try bring my work up to a new level.
My planning at stages was very strong because I really made sure I made a plan and did my best to stick
to it. The FMP last year I felt I lacked a strong plan and I really lost my way and ended up spending too
much time on one element and ending up then rushing and stressing over the rest of the work. However
I felt this time I turned a corner and really made sure I hit the nail on the head this time.
13. What were the negative points about the
experience, and what could you have done to
improve them?
I feel like my main negatives came with my production schedule and how I let myself slip behind and
ending up getting in bits of trouble with tutors and at home because I was leaving myself so much to
do in such little time meaning I HAD to improve and fast to make sure I focused and got this all done
in time for the deadline because you don’t want everyone moving on and you been stuck behind
leaving yourself more catching up to do since you slipped behind the first time.
I feel like if I had made things easier for myself this wouldn’t have happened because I strongly think
this is the same thing that I let happen with my FMP and I feel like that really did cost me and I feel I
have again allowed it to happen and again it has cost me so for every project coming and for the
future I must create a strong schedule that is easy to understand and one I can really hit a day by
day requirement.
14. How would you rate the final piece? [think along the lines of
poor, satisfactory, good or excellent...justify your rating]
Due to all the issues of falling behind I really can’t say anything more than poor to be brutally
honest with myself. I feel behind and this meant everything became a drastic rush to complete
things and this is never a recipe for success.
I don’t feel like I am been harsh on myself either poor is stop on and I NEED to improve because this
is unacceptable and all it does is create stress and struggle and you end up over working and with
work that is not good quality meaning a bad grade and then you feel down but I can’t feel down
about my grade because I caused the mess of a situation I found myself in during this project.
15. What is your opinion of your final piece? What
elements do you think are successful and why?
My opinion is my final piece is good in parts but poor in others meaning overall for me it just is not
the best I can do and it does hurt because I know I’m better than that and have the ability to create
top level but I always seem to lose my way and end falling behind and stressing and getting in
bother with tutors at college, family and it just creates issues that really don’t need to surface and
that all comes down to how I plan and space my time out and how I need to work on this certain
piece this day and so on.
I don’t really think any of my work is a success I feel like looking bad I could have done so much but I
allowed myself to slip behind and it has cost me big time and I now need to make sure I don’t let
this happen again otherwise I will be in serious trouble every time.
16. How did you design appeal to your target
audience?
I feel my design did appeal to my target audience meaning I did actually achieve some success
there.
I kept my design simple so it would create an easy to read format and I wanted to make sure the
designs were clever and keeping the theme were and making sure I didn’t just let things be basic
and a let down and show no skills.
17. Analysis
In this section, you will focus on the details of the project and make
sense of what happened in the project. You should demonstrate how
your decisions informed the project development and the success of the
outcome.
18. In what ways was the overall project a
success?
I feel like the build up to production was strong so I gave myself the best chance for success and that
is always a success if you set yourself up for success. I feel the whole process despite the final
product not been as good I hoped was as a whole a success because it has showed me what I need
to learn for the next projects and I know what I must do in order to learn and focus.
I feel even though it hasn’t turned out how I hoped I am still feeling a success in myself for how I did
everything I could to catch up and focus up and understand what I must do in order to become the
better version of myself with work.
19. What elements did not go well and why?
Production schedule is the main issue because I didn’t create a strong enough one and this then
created a major problem and it has massively cost me and I feel I let myself down and this then
made the whole production come down because I ended up getting lost among everything losing
time I needed to be using for different parts of my production and this just created a big mess and
ended up meaning I had to rush in order to keep up.
20. What meaning and messages did you want to
convey and were you successful?
I had two main messages I wanted to convey during this project
1. Discrimination is never okay in any format
2. If your ever struggling with mental health speak up and don’t hide away and struggle more
I feel like the discrimination message I really got across in my work and my interview I feel helped
push this over to top.
The mental health message I feel was more 50-50 because I feel at point the message was strong
and clear but then other it was lost among different details and the rest of the work.
21. What would you do differently in the future
and why?
The future is always now going to be making sure I create a strong production schedule that day by
day I can follow perfectly and no matter what happens during that certain day I stick to the plan I
have made myself meaning I wont fall behind and it may end up leaving me extra time at the end of
production to improve everything and really push in order to create a mega piece of work and will
finally show I do have the skills and I do have the drive to improve my work.
22. Action Plan
This section will identify what you would do differently in the future and
identify ways you could develop.
23. If you were making a similar project in the
future, what would you do differently?
I do would everything differently but I would keep the topics the same. I feel I could have maybe looked into
the help given out when people speak up about mental health, how this help is provided, maybe got some
more examples, maybe have done my interview with someone who had struggled with mental health and had
seek help at a stage during their life.
Maybe have gone into more detail when it came to the sports themselves because I feel I left them rather
blank and it left holes in the final product which easily could have been sorted and taken to a new level.
