When I have my teaching degree and license and I have a classroom of my own it will be a fun
and inviting environment. My class room will have a theme each year to make learning a little

reader. The stories share the themes of personal integrity and that all actions have consequences.
However, there are several themes that are unique to each story that can have a diverse effect on

According to a teacher at Louisiana s top public high school, the n word is no longer racist and has
utterly lost its negative connotation due to overuse. His students (and millions of Americans)
seriously beg to differ.
According to the Times Picayune, the Benjamin Franklin High School teacher identified in the
video as Coach Ryan got into a heated exchange with one of his black students about why he is
entitled, as a white man, to use the racial slur. A video of the argument was originally posted on
Twitter but has since been protected.
That s racist as sh*t, the student tells Coach Ryan. Why can you not understand that it s racist for a
white man to say n****r to a black man? It s f***ing racist.
Raw Story reported that the student asks a white classmate if he would ever use the n word and the
classmate affirms that he wouldn t, after which the student opens the question to the entire class.
They agree that they would not say the n word. Coach Ryan then proceeds to dig himself into a
deeper hole while giving his students a disappointing lesson in white denial.

ourselves up through them. Once we finally made it to the top, there was a beautiful cabin with a

refugees worldwide. Also, 3.2 million asylum seekers and 40.8 million internally displaced people
(IDP) are supported by United Nations in 125 countries. These higher numbers comparing to 2014

governments. The shocking number belongs to children who constitute 51 percent of the refugee

were made from various materials, including ivory, bone, clay, and even stone. They represented
humans, as well as animals; they even combined them at times. Most of the sculptures from this
time show a high level of skill. From this time, there were two very influential sculptures, The
Venus of Willendorfand the Venus of Laussel. This paper will discuss both sculptures, in detail, as
well as, compare and contrast them.
The Venus of Willendorf, also known as the Woman of Willendorf, stands 11 cm. high and is
thought to have been carved from 22,000 to 21,000 B.C. It was discovered in 1908 by Josef ... Show
Sculptures in relief are typically more detailed than those in the round. This is because some of
the original material remains and forms the background plane. Like the Willendorf, Laussel also
was sculpted to have over exaggerated breasts, with large breasts and vulva. Unlike the
Willendorf, the Laussel has more detail in the rest of the body. There is still no face, but there is
focus on the arms and legs as well; where with the Willendorf, they weren t even carved into the
figure at all. The Laussel is shown holding a wisent horn, or possibly a cornucopia, in one hand,
which has 13 notches. It is believed that the notches are carved to indicate the number of nights
between the first crescent and full moon, signifying a recognized relationship between a single
menstrual and lunar cycle. It was painted with red ochre, like Willendorf, that was also thought to
represent the blood from child birth. She also has her hand placed on her stomach (or womb).

governmental system, and a developed culture. Both the societies of ancient Athens and Egypt fit
into these parameters. In this essay we will explore social classes, gender relations, social
inequality, and hierarchy as they apply to these societies. Both ancient Athens and Egypt
adhered to a strict hierarchical framework, ranking people as superiors or inferiors. Old
Kingdom Egyptian hierarchy is described as having the king and queen at the top, with priests,
administrators, governors and army commanders coming second, then the commoners who
worked mostly in agriculture, and finally, slaves, who had been captured in war. (Hunt, pg. 22).
According to Esolen, (pg. 35), Egyptian society was structured as such: the Pharaoh came first,
and was believed to be God on earth. Next came the Vizier , who was the pharaohs chief advisor.
Nobles were next in the hierarchy, responsible for making local laws. Priests followed, and were
responsible for performing rituals and ceremonies. Scribes were a very important group, as they
were the only ones who could read or write, so they were the record keepers. A small percentage
of boys from good families were trained for this particular job, starting at the age of five.
Soldiers came next, and were responsible for the defense of the country. Craftsmen were skilled
workers (weavers, tailors, jewelry makers), farmers worked the land, and at the very bottom were
slaves, who were usually prisoners captured in war.
In Periclean Athens, all adult male citizens had political and judicial power, even the poor. The
upper class didn t agree with this, as they believed the poor lacked the education to make political
decisions. Under Pericles, citizens could only be those whose mother and father were Athenian by
