The Lushai people are also known as Mizos and are a tribe under the Kuki-Chin group. They originally migrated from India's Tripura and Lushai Hills to the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh. Currently around 525 Lushai people live in the Rangamati and Bandarban districts. They have their own language called Lushai or Dolne. The Lushai traditionally practiced animism and jhum cultivation but now most are Christian and grow crops like rice, vegetables and maize. They have a rich cultural tradition including colorful clothing, bamboo dances, and festivals.
