REAL TIME SUBTITLING:
fast-writing techniques used
to produce real-time subtitles
of live TV programs
but also real-time court and
parliamentary reports,
and real-time transcripts
of conferences or classes.

RESPEAKING: a respeaker listens
to speakers and simultaneously repeats,
reformulates or translates what they say
to a microphone connected
to an ASR software,
which automatically recognises
the respeaker’s voice
and turns it into written words.

VELOTYPE: a Dutch invention
modernized in 2009. By pressing
several keys simultaneously,
complete syllables and words
can be made, instead of typing
character by character.
The keyboard can be used in
more than 30 different languages.

Overview • Co-funded by ERASMUS+ Programme of the EU (2018-2021). • GOAL: training materials for real-time intralingual subtitlers. • FOCUS: – curricula to meet labour market and societal needs, – open education in the digital era, – social inclusion. • CONTEXTS: education, culture, assemblies, TV, workplace. • METHODS: face-to-face, online and relay.
  • 7. 2. Overview REAL TIME SUBTITLING: fast-writing techniques used to produce real-time subtitles of live TV programs but also real-time court and parliamentary reports, and real-time transcripts of conferences or classes.
  • 8. 2. Overview RESPEAKING: a respeaker listens to speakers and simultaneously repeats, reformulates or translates what they say to a microphone connected to an ASR software, which automatically recognises the respeaker’s voice and turns it into written words.
  • 9. 2. Overview VELOTYPE: a Dutch invention modernized in 2009. By pressing several keys simultaneously, complete syllables and words can be made, instead of typing character by character. The keyboard can be used in more than 30 different languages.
