Lord Of The Flies Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of "Lord of the Flies" can be both challenging and intriguing. On
one hand, the novel by William Golding is a rich source of literary elements, symbolism, and
complex characters that provide ample material for analysis. On the other hand, navigating
through the psychological depths of the characters and unraveling the underlying themes
requires a careful and thoughtful approach.
The intricacies of human nature, power dynamics, and the descent into savagery are themes that
demand a nuanced exploration. Crafting a coherent and compelling argument requires not only a
deep understanding of the novel but also the ability to connect its themes to broader aspects of
human society and behavior.
Furthermore, tackling this essay involves delving into the allegorical nature of the narrative,
deciphering the symbolism behind characters and events, and interpreting the profound messages
that Golding sought to convey. The challenge lies in avoiding oversimplification and clichГ©s
while presenting an original perspective on the text.
Researching and citing relevant sources to support one's arguments adds another layer of
complexity. Engaging with literary criticism and scholarly analyses enhances the depth and
credibility of the essay but demands a keen eye for discerning reliable sources.
Despite the difficulties, the process of writing such an essay can be intellectually rewarding. It
encourages critical thinking, deepens one's appreciation for literature, and hones analytical skills.
However, it is crucial to manage time effectively and approach the task with a clear plan to avoid
getting lost in the intricate web of themes and characters.
In conclusion, crafting a thoughtful and well-structured essay on the topic of "Lord of the Flies"
requires dedication, careful analysis, and a thorough understanding of both the novel and the
broader literary context. The difficulty lies not only in unraveling the complexities of the text but
also in presenting a unique and compelling interpretation. For those seeking assistance or more

How Did Mali And Songhai Affect The West African Trade...
The rulers of Ghana controlled the trade of their kingdom and collected taxes on
salt from the north. From the south of the kingdom came gold that fed the king s
wealth. This gold came from the Senegal and Niger rivers and was in great demand
across the Sahara. Ghana was a sort of meeting place in which the north and the
south traded. From the north came ceramics, glass, oil lamps, and salt, from the south
came kola nuts, palm oil, copper, and gold. Ghana became a wealthy trading empire.
Maliand Songhai were also affected because they neighbored Ghana so they were in
similar circumstances. When they were at war and Mali took over the Ghana gold
mines, they tried to establish salt trades. Several kings later the Songhai took over the
gold mines... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Portuguese had no interest in the cowrie shells that the Kongo had previously
traded with the people around them. The Portuguese wanted gold, but the Kongo had
no gold, so they settled on trading slaves to the Portuguese in return for goods. The
slaves were treated by the Kongo like they were any other person in the world, while
the Portuguese treated them like they were monsters. The Portuguese started trading
something quite new: guns. The Portuguese guns could be used to protect the slaves
from slave raiders, but the only way to get this product was to trade slaves for it.
Eventually, the Kongo king agreed to trade his own enslaved people for the guns.
After a while, the Kongo king started supporting the slave trade because it increased
his own wealth and power.
The Kongo didn t mistreat their slaves. They kept the slaves with their families and
made sure that they could eventually earn their freedom. The Portuguese on the other
hand, treated the slaves so bad that some of them died from being worked so hard.
Slaves died from poor conditions and treatment so often that the Portuguese would
have to obtain more slaves. In order to get their hands on the slaves, the merchants
would do almost anything, even purposely start a war between
The Werewolf
The Werewolf By Angela Carter Fairy Tales tend to start off dark and progress to
have a happy ending or, failing that, to teach a lesson. Angela Carter does an
excellent job of this in her short story The Werewolf . This is her take on Little
Red Riding Hood . This is not the classic spin on the original fairy tale however, in
Angela s take on it we will explore ageism, sexism, and greed. Though the story
casts a once upon a time aura, the lessons learned from it are as modern as the

The practice of calling old women werewolves is an ancient one, but the thought
processes behind it are hardly new. Whether through moving our aging family to

we seem to have little respect for our elders. How often is it, that through saying

Bullet Proof Armor History
History
The first bullet proof armor was invented in 1897 by Korea and the Japan, it was made
of 30 layers of silk, which in that day could stop a black powder bullet it was
nicknamed soft
armor. But then when firearms became more powerful it became useless. So a priest
from
Chicago made it better by weaving 1.6mm steel plate between four layers of silk, he
proved it
was bullet proof by having a man shoot at his chest from 10 paces (25 feet) away
with a 44.

The vest stops the force of the bullet from hitting you and going into you, it will
disperse
the bullets energy across the entire Kevlar panel. If this didn t happen the bullet
would hit you
and cause serious damage to the area you were shot in. So that is the reason they
make the
entire vest in one piece, so it can take that force of energy from the bullet and make
It spread
throughout the vest. (company, 2016)
How effective is it?
Kevlar is what soldiers use today, they can stop some handgun bullets. Such as a 9mm
which has a smaller amount of kinetic energy and a lower velocity, but with a higher
caliber
handgun such as a .44 magnum, it has more weight to the bullet which means a larger
amount
of kinetic energy and a higher velocity, so you would need up to 30 layers of Kevlar.

2015)
How would I improve it?
The improvements I would make would be to make a material that was made of a
strong medal that stops bullets, then I would mix it with a flexible compound to

The Cyclical Argument Of Phaedo
The cyclical argument of the Phaedo imparts the ideology Socrates had in regard to
the immortality of the soul and his views about death, which he was about to face
himself. His most faithful followers are astonished that Socrates is not desolate
about his ill fate. In fact, he is delighted with it as he proclaims that the life of a
philosopher is merely a preparation for death since the mind is most pure when the
stresses of the body is felt least. But even after the body is discarded after death, the
soulwill live on for eternity. After much skepticism and doubt, he begins a discourse
in which he attempts to authenticate the immortality of the soul. In the cyclical
argument or the argument of opposites, he ends up persuading his followers that the
soul is indeed immortal.
The argument begins with the discussion of the opposites, Between each of these
pairs of opposites there are two processes: from the one to the other and then ... Show

He says that the living come from the dead in this way no less than the dead from
the living, and, if that is so, it seems to be a sufficient proof that the souls of the
dead must be somewhere whence they can come back again (72a). Death is the
release of the soul. Socrates conveys that the body is a prison, and that the soul is
imprisoned. The body acts as the source of needs and desires, and the attempt to
satisfy these needs produces disruptive conflicts that interfere with reasoning and
prevent us from attaining knowledge. The soul has the potential to have a total and
real perception of the actual truth itself when not impeded by the body. Socrates
possessed a rationale to embrace death, in that he deduced that freedom from the
corrupting influences of the body would enable him to attain true knowledge. He
holds the conviction that when bodily hindrances are disregarded, we can concentrate
completely upon the
Alexander Hamilton Influence
Alexander Hamilton was born on January 11th, 1757 on the island of Nevis in the
British West Indies. In 1766, Hamilton s father had left St. Croix where he had
moved the family and went back to Saint Kitts, leaving behind his wife and two
sons. From that time a presbyterian clergyman gave Hamilton a basic education. At
the time of his mother s death, he had become an apprentice clerk in a mercantile
establishment, where his proprietor became a benefactor to his education as he
noticed Hamilton s intelligence and ambition. In 1773, Alexander Hamilton had
enrolled at King s College, later to become Columbia College and University, yet
was halted in his studies due to the revolution. As war had broke out, Hamilton had
accepted artillery captaincy and battled in the principal campaigns of 1776 1777 s.

government but many loyalists opposed his ideas saying government should not
hold so much power. Among Hamilton s suggestions were repayments of war debt
and a federal tax proposal. On June 20, 1790 Hamilton and Madison reached an
amicable agreement that the capital would be moved near the Potomac and Madison
would no longer block Congress in an attempt to strengthen a more central
government over individual states rights. In 1795, Hamilton stepped down from his
position as Secretary of Treasurer. However, he had many successes and left

The Factors Affecting The Food And Agriculture Sector
Essay
Introduction In the United States today there are many critical infrastructures that are
depended on and if one of the 16 infrastructures were to be disrupted it could result in
devastating consequences to, not only the American public, but to the world. Each
infrastructure is dependent on one another for the most part and if one is disrupted
the other would be hindered. All the 16 critical infrastructures are vital to the
American society but the Food and Agriculturesector can arguably be ranked among
the most important. The Food and Agricultural (FA) sector is responsible for many
necessities and if it is disrupted in any way, it could have a substantial impact on
America s food source as well as the economy. Furthermore, all governments and
private sectors rely on each other for the FA sector to function without hesitation.
There are many risks and hazards that are being currently addressed in the FA sector
and they are, food contamination and disruption (Accidental or Intentional), disease
and pests, severe weather and cyber security. These threats can greatly harm the
economy and food supply and will be discussed later in this paper. If any sector of
the United Statesthat is responsible for the food supply succumbs to one of the risks,
then it can rapidly cause chaos throughout the states without hesitation. The
consequences can be detrimental to the communities, states and nation if the FA
sector was at all compromised. However, there are certain measures the
What Is The Similarities Between Notorious And North By...
Every good movie has a way of being remembered by. Both movies, Notorious and
North by Northwest, entertain the idea of spies. With the films taking place nearly
thirteen years apart, the secretive atmosphere in Notorious is altered to have a more
thriller like feel in North by Northwest. North by Northwest creates a world of
confusion and disorientation. Devlin has an air of cleverness, while Thornhill in
North by Northwest is lost and confused. Similar to the women counterparts, Alicia
and Eve, the lack of knowledge of the situations remains the same. The carefully and
strategically placed lighting from the ending scene in Notorious to the airport scene
in North by Northwest depict the effect they give off to the audience. Similar to each

Each play an important factor in the story telling. Both movies hold an important
conference scene in the beginning. In Notorious the group of detectives hold a
meeting to discuss the Nazis. The camera starts off with a medium shot with a
slightly high angle focusing on the main man and slowly panning out so the
audience can see who he is talking with. Once all the characters are on screen we
get a full shot, being able to look at their conversation and body language. We then
are sent back to see the whole room. The room is very closed off and tight with
symmetrical objects framing both sides of the room. Then we are pulled back to the
end of the table. This long shot with a slight high angle lets us see what Hitchcock s
view on the whole conversation is. Similar in North by Northwest, the script
writers of the movie hold a meeting as well. The scene starts off in the same way
with the camera s focus on the head of the table, panning out to the whole table. In
this high key lighted scene we are met with numerous over the shoulder shots, as
well as close ups and medium/two shots. Once the camera pans and shows the
whole table, we see two symmetrical lamps lining the back equally once again. The
scene comes to a close when a high angle, almost nearly a birds eye view shot over
the characters. With Hitchcock being the director, he is given the last say in the
script making process and this is his way of

ventured into backward integration strategies in areas where they face problems
with the supply of raw materials. It eradicate the dependence on supplier of raw

nylon tyre cord accounts for nearly 35 per cent of the production costs. Both
Apollo Tyres and its rival company Ceat, are setting up their own captive nylon
cord plants. The entire industry is in the clutches of just three or four tyre cord
producers. And they have raised their prices by 26 per cent last year. We are left
with no option but to set up our own captive unit, said Apollo Chairman Raunaq

use. Expected reduction in production costs: a substantial 15 per cent. Ceat is also
setting up a Rs 150 crore subsidiary nylon tyre cord unit, half of whose production
will be used for captive consumption. Besides the assured supply, There is an added
bonus: no sales tax need be paid on the cord since it is to be used in house. Backward

Examples Of Internal Locus Of Control
Everyone has different ways to control their life, but not everything can be controlled
by you. Some people have separate ways on determining the outcomes of certain
situations by influencing the actions of people and events. One person could depend
and rely on outside influences for their success or they could believe that they control
their own life. I have an internal locus of controlbecause of how independent and
hardworking I am. My everyday life has many examples of my internal locus of
control.
Everyone achieves something in their life, whether it is a good grade or a athletic
award. When I get a good grade in a class I base it off my hard work towards that
grade and how long I studied for the grade. I do not base it on luck
Sara Teasdale Essay
Sara Teasdale lived a lonely life filled with feelings of depression, regardless of her
circumstance. These feelings of loneliness and depression manifest themselves in
her lyric poems through her use of emotional diction and her employment of
simple imagery. Sara Teasdale, born in 1884 in St. Louis, Missouri, grew up to be
an incredibly famous poet. Her father, John Warren Teasdale, provided a middle
class life for his family. Sara s mother, Mary Elizabeth Teasdale, focused on their
family s image. Sara lived a sheltered and spoiled life. As a child she learned in
private schools and taught to believe consider herself fragile and constantly ill. Her
parents fulfilled her need for protection until later in her life when she began... Show

Teasdale uses the image of water again. Illustrating her experiences of love
throughout her life, she says I have loved much and been loved deeply. A summary
of the entire poem, this quote works to show that she experienced much love
throughout her life, however fleeting the love had been. This poem reflects Sarah s
mentality that love should be an experience. Jessie B. Rittenhouse wrote about
Teasdale s collection Love Songs, stating that Teasdale s work seemed effortless.
Rittenhouse believed Teasdale s lyrical style just flowed from her lips. Calling
Teasdale s poems impulsive, Rittenhouse believed these poems to be simply
composed casual responses to the emotional trials in Teasdale s life (Rittenhouse
425). Another critic, Louis Untermeyer, believed Teasdale s Flame and Shadow
Collection to be completely different from her old works. Untermeyer suggested
Teasdale wrote this collection to branch out. While the subject of her poems remained
the same, Teasdale tried something new in regards to style. Untermeyer criticised that
Teasdale limited herself too much in her subject matter, and could have benefited
from making alterations there, as well as in her style.Untermeyer also commented
that Teasdale became more flexible with her new style, refusing to stick to regular
patterns (Untermeyer
Biochemical Test E. Coli
I had discovered that my unknown microbe is Escherichia coli (E. coli). After
performing various biochemical tests E. coli seemed to fit my microbe the best with
only having two misguided biochemical tests that had not fit the data. The tests that
were performed included the MRVP test, catalase test, oxidase test, nitrate test, citrate
slant test, phenylalanine deaminase test, urea test, SIM test, TSI test, and starch test.
These tests helped me discover my microbe along with a few other tests. The first
biochemical test I performed was the MRVP test. This test is known as the Methyl
Red and Vages Proskauer test. It is a broth containing peptone, buffers, and dextrose
or glucose. My microbe was Methyl Red positive and Vages Proskauer negative....

This test is used to see if the microbe can hydrolyzes urea to ammonia and carbon
dioxide. When there is an alkaline environment the color turns to pink. Turning pink
would present a positive result. The SIM test tested negative for sulfur reduction
presenting no sign of the color black, positive for indole production presenting the
color red, and positive for motility. Sulfur reduction is a test used to differentiate
enteric bacteria. The indole production test differentiates Enterobacteriaceae. For
testing a wide variety of organisms the motility test is used. The TSI test stands for
triple sugar iron agar, my results had turned out positive presenting a yellow slant
and yellow butt (acid/acid). The microbe was a lactose fermenter. The test is used
to see the fermentation of lactose, glucose, and sucrose. The last test I had done
was the starch hydrolysis. I had gotten a positive result when the result should have
been negative. A halo may or may not be seen with the presents of iodine. When a
halo is present it is positive, starch is present. When a halo is not present it means
there is an absence of starch. When the media is positive it means that extracellular
enzymes are capable of diffusing into the medium. E. coli is supposed to be starch

CURRENT ENROLLMENT SUCCESS RATES
The three centers (LSC Fairbanks, LSC Greenspoint, LSC Victory) had a total
headcount of 5,764 in fall 2016. The largest majority of the enrollments were face
to face (67%), followed by online (28%), and hybrid (5%). Academic transfer
courses accounted for 97% of the total credit offerings. All three centers suffered a
combined decrease of 8.4% from fall 2014 to fall 2016. There are various factors,
including the shift in the delivery methods, but also in the times and dates of
offerings. An example noted within referenced analysis is the 716% drop in
weekend enrollment at the Greenspoint Center from fall 2011 to fall 2016. See
appendix C for more information.
The centers had an uneven impact upon the overall success rates of the main
campuses. From fall 2014 to fall 2016, the success rates for LSC Greenspoint
students ranged from 5 7 percentage points lower than the main North Harris campus.
LSC Victory Center was higher than the main North Harris campus, but only due to
the early college high school. The ECHS is approximately 1/3 of the enrollment at
the location and recognized as one of the top early college high schools in the state.
However, when excluding the ECHS, the success rates for non ECHS students is
among the lowest of all LSC locations ranging from
Role Of Economics On Political Change
I also used interpolation to impute missing data for many of my independent
variables. Interpolation can reduce the ability of an independent variable to
explain a dependent variable by reducing the movement of the dependent variable
(Allison 2001). Interpolation is comparable to replacing the actual data with a
trend. You don t expect the trend to explain short term movements in the
dependent variable as well as the actual data. Future Research The findings of this
study produce puzzling conclusions. Moving forward, researchers should look at
the role of economics on political change in the South at a more local level. A
mixed methods approach is most appropriate for this future research because it
would allow for interviews with local party leaders to guide the statistical analyses.
Also, most people are citizens of a community and less so citizens of a state, so
those people should be better able to notice the economic change on a community
level instead of a state level. One particular problem with doing research at the
county level is that often data is not available at the county level. Some of these
issues are solved using multilevel modeling, but a statistical fix does not cure the
absence of data. One of the interesting findings of this project concerned the role of
turnout in affecting party strength. There are several ways forward. For example, it is
possible that turnout drove changes outside of the South. This seems unlikely
because the South had such anemic
Violence in Palestine and Israel
Since 1920 about 115,000 people have been killed as a directed effect of the
violence in Palestine and Israel. The One State Solution would only work if both
sides committed to a democracy, separation of state and religion and an end to
violence because without this the states would have the same problems and not have
peace.
Right now democracy in Palestine is at a stand still. With elections that have not
happened since 2006 the system is not working at its full potential. The leader of the
PLO, Mahmoud Abbas, has been in a power for 78 years. Mahmoud Abbas, the
highly unpopular president, term has expired many years ago but will not step down.
In 2006, the Hamas won the elections but were rejected by the West and so the
Fatah stayed in power leading to the spilt of the two party s. Hamas controls the
Gaza Strip and Fatah the rest. In Israel there government is close to that of
democracy. The government has a legislative authority and an executive authority.
The executive authority is headed by the Prime Minster and is elected by the
people for a four year term. The legislative authority is made up of 120 members
that are nation wide elections for a four year term. Israel already has a government
that is set up and is in working conduction. The one state solution would have these
two governments come together as one. It would help Palestine s political party s get
back on the right track. With one state solution the 120 people in the legislative
authority could be
The Relationship Between Media And Bias

2016 The Relationship Between Bias and the Media Since its inception, the media
has been fiercely castigated for the substantial amount of bias it allegedly
encompasses. Popular television media outlets such as CNN or Fox News have
been accused of containing said bias by both sides of the political spectrum, and the
introduction of news websites and programs on the internet have unlocked a door

In their report, Fox News asks If the 2016 presidential election were held today,
how would you vote if the candidates were: Democrat Hillary Clinton, Republican
Donald Trump, (Other), (Wouldn t vote), or (Don t know)? (Fox News Poll,
2016). 44% of the survey s participants answered they would vote for Hillary
Clinton while 38% answered they would vote for Donald Trump, but the actual
survey is not where the bias lies. Shortly after the survey concluded and the results
were in, Fox News started covering what the survey revealed and the headline
showed FOX POLL: TRUMP LEADS WITH INDEPENDENTS (Stevens, 2016).
Fox News had displayed the wrong results from the poll with no substantial
reasoning supporting it. Many critics that have examined this event conclude that
Fox News was perhaps trying to sway their viewers to believe that the Republican
candidate was in the lead so that the momentum would carry towards November.
However, not all Republicans support Trump, so this assumption may not be a valid
reason. Also, the fact that many of the individuals who watch Fox News are
conservatives may hold some meaning behind this fiasco. Perhaps Fox News was
attempting to sway conservatives who were on the fence about voting for the
Republican nominee to rally behind a common candidate against the common
enemy. Either way, Fox News has decided to drop their socialization role, which is
presenting the same information and portraying cultural values to national audiences
(Lenz and Holman, pg. 142), by giving their loyal viewers false information
regarding their own poll. Surprisingly, Fox News has done another poll since that
incident. Their new survey, which was taken on Thursday, September 15th, 2016,
shows that 41% of voters that participated in the new survey stated that they would
vote for Hillary Clinton while 40%
Violation Of Social Norms
At a very early age, children learn about social norms to help them become proper
citizens in society. Examples of some social norms that students learn are: do not
yell in the library, do not speak unless spoken to, do not talk to strangers, and close
the door when you use the restroom. As you grow older, these rules become
unspoken because everyone knows how to act like a proper individual in society.
The textbook definition of a social normis something that is a rule of behavior that
society accepts. (Bicchieri) Since everyone knows these unsaid rules of society, what
would happen when someone decides not to follow these rules? What would people
think and react? In this paper, I discuss my violation of the social normdon t talk to
strangers and discuss what I learned from this experiment.
The social norm that I chose to violate was initiating conversation and talking to
strangers on public transportation. By doing this I deviated from the unspoken rule
which says that you should not talk to strangers and that you should not interact with
others on public transportation because of the possibility of them harming or
assaulting you. From doing this activity, I learned that power dynamics exist in every
situation and that by violating a social norm I, as a young woman, put myself in a
vulnerable position. I chose to make this decision to talk to strangers on public
transport because it seemed relatively safe and within my zone of comfort,
considering
Netherlands vs. United States Essay
When thinking of the Netherlands, or Holland as most people recognize it, what
comes to mind is typically a picture of a blond haired girl wearing wooden shoes
and holding a basket of bread standing in a field of tulips with a windmill turning in
the background, or the idea of standing in a busy city in the red light district
surrounded by bicyclists, drunk teenagers and people selling drugs legally. While
both cliches hold their own truth about the country, much more lies beneath the tulips
and drugs. Because the Netherland s government focuses on the overall well being of
its people, the Netherlandsis a better country to live in than the United States. The

Both constitutions, for example, protect the people s rights very similarly. Just like
in the United States, the Dutch people have been protected with laws of freedom of
religion and freedom of speech ( Background ). Though the similarities, however,
many statistics set the two apart. One might think that because the Netherlands
leniency toward drugs and alcohol is high that it would result in higher crime rates
and lower quality of health, but this assumption is false. Not only do statistics show
that the Netherlands has a lower crime rate, but they also have have longer life
expectations, happiness levels, and overall satisfaction with life compared to the
United States ( Europe: Netherlands ; North America: Untied States ). As for the
crime rates, the Netherlands consistently scores significantly lower than the United
States. In a study covering sixty two countries, the United States ranked twenty
fourth and the Netherlands ranked fifty first. In another survey of sixty five nations
about the number of rape victims, the United States came in ninth and the
Netherlands in twenty second. Studies even compared the United States 2,019,234

The Unification Of Germany And Italy In The 60 s
During the 1850 s and 60 s, both Germany and Italy unified, and disrupted the old
Balance of Power. Both unifications, came to be because of Chancellors, Count
Cavour for Italy, and Otto Von Bismarck for Germany. Both men knew the neede
other countries help, to unite. Italy first went to France, promising them land in
central Italy, if they would help defeat the Austrians. France won two major battles,
but Napoleon III thought the war was becoming too expensive, so he made a secret
peace treaty with Austria. This meant Italy only won one of the territories they
wanted. It wasn t until Garibaldi, that Italy United. He lead a small band of soldiers

Prussia. THe unification of Germany was done by another country Prussia, who

with the help of foreigners. That is how the Unification of Italy and Germany are

of the body. Tissues are a collection of similar cells that group together to carry out a
specific function within the body. There are four different types of tissue found in the
human body which include; epithelial tissue; connective tissue; muscle tissue and
nerve tissue.
The first type of tissue found in the human body is epithelial tissue. These types of
tissue are found covering the whole surface of the body, lining of cavities, hollow
organs and tubes. The cells a very closely packed and are arranged in one ... Show

Transitional epithelium is also composed of several layers but is constructive of pear
shaped cells instead. This type of tissue is stretchy, meaning it can contract and
expand. It is usually found lining the urinary bladder as it allows for stretching as the
bladder fills up.
The second type of tissue found in the body is connective tissue. They lie beneath the
epithelial tissue helping to connect different part of the internal structure, the cells are
more widely separated from each other then in epithelial tissue. The intercellular
substance known as the matrix is found in considerably large amounts. Within the
matrix there are usually fibres which may be a jelly like consistency or dense and
rigid depending on the type, function and positioning of the tissue. Theses fibres form
a supporting system for cells to attach to. The major functions of connective tissue are
to transport materials, give structural support and protection. The types of connective
tissue that will be explained are blood, bone, cartilage, bone, areolar tissue and
adipose tissue.
Blood is made up of straw coloured plasma, the matrix, in which various types of
blood are carried. Plasma is mainly water where substances are carried such as
oxygen and carbon dioxide, nutrients such as glucose and amino acids, salts, enzymes
and hormones. Also there is a combination of important proteins which help with
blood clotting, transport,
Essay on A Program Budgeting System for Horton
University
Horton University is committed to providing affordable, high quality education and
increasing educational attainment through excellence in teaching and service. While
it is always a priority to be fiscally responsible, it is of particular importance during
times of economic downturn. In an effort to provide long term financial stability, it is
necessary to develop and implement a budgetary process that aligns with and
supports the institution s strategic plan. While the Universityis maintaining its stability
with current donors, it is not increasing in large contributions as desired. This is of
particular concern because an increase in state appropriations is unlikely while the

Review of budgets will be on a fiscal year basis.
Horton University serves a diverse population, many of whom rely on outside
financial resources to fund their education. In an effort to provide need based
scholarships to deserving students, the institution will implement a last dollar
scholarship program to students who have demonstrated academic excellence. Those
students who receive enough financial aid to cover all tuition costs will not be
eligible for the scholarship. As a result, the scholarship will afford the opportunity for
more students to attend the institution tuition free rather than further stacking
financial aid awards. As outlined by the Board of Visitors, students must be in state
first generation college students, exceed minimum admissions standards, and not be
able to financially able to afford tuition costs. In order to comply with the latter, the
student s Expected Family Contribution (EFC) must fall within a range that makes
them ineligible for full Pell, but still leaves a gap fee to be paid.
Garnering support for this scholarship program will be essential in implementation
and sustainability. It is proposed that scholarship students get paired with a mentor
whom invests in the student s success. Alumni will be contacted to serve as mentors,
but business and community leaders will also be actively recruited to serve. This is
key in an effort for these leaders to see these students and the college in action, which
Comparison of Mac Vs. PC Essay
Hello I m a Mac, and I m a PC (Wikipedia). Many people who watch television or
online videos might come across the Get a Mac advertisement campaign launched
by Apple Inc. personifying the more youthful Justin Long as the cool, hip Mac
system and the older, more seasoned John Hodgman as the PC. The Get a Mac
commercial series depicts the efficiency and user friendliness of Mac while
comparing it to the problematic PC. Though the commercial series might seem
convincing in favor of the Mac products, the commercial would obviously hide the
flaws of the Macs. The actually masks the fact that PC comes out on top at the end
of the day with great efficiency, the ability to do a diverse range of work, and its user
friendliness. But now... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Let us start with the hardware. Building a computer is not easy because finding
compatible components is important but once the computer is built, analyzing the
key components is pretty simple. Personally, I have a self built PC which runs top
of the line components that is more advanced and affordable than that of an Mac
hardware. In the case of a Mac computer, the hardware is integrated which makes
keeping up with the latest components such as better CPUs, and graphics card
unavailable. Furthermore, in Intel s PC vs. Mac article (Intel makes components
for both Mac and PC), Intel states, Apple s range of product is narrower than that of
PCs even though the Mac system can be robustly outfitted (which means add in
more gadgets such as web cams and microphones )(Intel). Though the Macs already
have web cams and microphones on the system, PC users can surpass these tools and
gadgets with even better high definition cameras and studio quality microphones
with one quick install. Having said that, it is crystal clear that PC computers have
the edge when it comes to computer components because of the PC s ability to
upgrade its hardware consistently to make performance more efficient which is a
necessity that the Mac computers do not provide in the constantly advancing
technological world. In conjunction with computer hardware, the importance of a
user friendly operating system and it s ability to perform an diverse range of tasks is

The Scarlet
The autumn sky gave a brisk cool wind. Scarlet loved this time of year. Going for
many adventures through the local forest, the leaves had already started turning
colors. Beautiful crimson red, citron yellow, and burnt orange leaves could be seen
everywhere. The path itself was covered with leaves which had already fallen. They
would crinkling under her feet with every step she took. Scarlet could hear the birds
chirping in the distance. Animals scurrying around as she mindlessly strolls along.
Her cares seemed elsewhere. Her motherhad asked that, if while she was hunting, if
she could gather some Autumn Firework petals. Appropriately named as its petals
looked firework shooting from the inside. This was a key ingredient for most of...

storm was a big one. The gods must be having an argument she thought as she now
was at a steady run towards home. By chance, (no pun intended)
William had stormed out of the room, out of the manor and into the Fox Run
Forest, which coincidentally, connects to Deer Land Forest at its eastern most
point. He was muttering to himself and kicking the leaves beneath his feet. He
seemed to be lacking attention to the ominous cloud which seemed to be following
him with every step he takes. This was a time when he wished he had a mother,
someone we know could talk to. She had gone to the heavens whilst giving birth to
him. His father was sure to remind him everyday! For some strange reason he felt
the guilt that he knew his father purposely dig into his brain since he could

young man, he only does when he feels he must scold him personally for his

As William was lost in thought, suddenly, a young girl came rolling from a small
hill where William was now standing. Hitting the stunned William and king him to

Cal And Its Effects On The Loss Of His Legs Essay
Cal was a victim to several negligible acts that resulted in the loss of his legs. On
the day in question Cal was a passenger in Abe s car when it was in a collision with
Deb s vehicle. Although he only sustained minor injuries due to the initial impact,
another negligible driver, Ann struck both cars causing Cal more traumatic injuries.
Once Cal was at the hospital he was informed that he required a surgeryto possibly
save his legs, but was never explained the requirements or risks involved if the
surgery was successful. He unknowingly consented to the surgery which was an
unsuccessful, resulting in the loss of use of both of his legs. After the surgery Cal
experienced indescribable amounts of pain and suffering, upon returning to the
doctor it was discovered one of the surgeons had left a metal clamp inside Cal s leg
and sewed him up, which required additional surgery for its removal. Based on these
facts, Cal has many legal rights to recover damages by those liable for his injuries.
The first option is to determine whose negligent driving caused the accident
between Deb and Abe. Although Cal s injuries were minor from the initial crash,
without this action, Ann would have not hit the two cars injuring Cal further and
losing his legs. Since Cal was in the car with Abe and could see his actions, it can
be assumed that Deb was the negligible drive that caused the collision. It would be
recommended that Cal and Abe collaborate to bring a law suit against Deb for
negligible
Research Paper On Nintendo

game race. It will discuss all of Nintendo s innovations to the video gaming industry
as a whole and how without Nintendo, the video game industry would be drastically
different. An example of an event that would have altered the video game industry
without Nintendowould be the Video Game Crash of 1983, where video games were
being reproduced at a rate where all copies couldn t be sold and how all of the
games at the time were essentially the same, repetitive gameplay. Nintendo s

never be forgotten. Other companies, such as Sony and Microsoft, has produced
some very memorable games too, but without Nintendo, they would have never

and is one of the best consoles in history with it s rich library full of classics..
Although the Nintendo Entertainment System was not the first video game
console, it revived the idea of grander videos games and Nintendo is to thank for
that. They have stretched the boundaries of the games far more than anyone
thought was possible. Plus with the Video Game Crash of 1983, Nintendo
basically saved the future of video games. Everything that Nintendo has done has
been inventive, whether it was successful or a failure. The Virtual Boy (INSERT

Disparity Between Passion of the Christ and the Bible Essay
The Passion of the Christ by Mel Gibson, recounts the last twelve hours of the life of
Jesus of Nazareth, portraying his arrest, trial, crucifixion and death. One of the most
anticipated and popular religious movies in modern society, it therefore becomes
susceptible to criticism. Although the film is based upon the stories within the four
gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, there are many exaggerations and non
biblical elements present in the movie. This is not unexpected, since it is a movie, but
the vivid detail of the brutality in the movie as well as the Anti Semitic theme are the
most publicly criticized themes and concepts present in the movie. The Passion

In the scenes of the movie, he is preaching his peace and ideas of independence, but
the high priests and the Jewish people do not show him any mercy or respect. Even
at the voice of the governor Pontius Pilate, who several times mentions that he doesn
t find any guilt or reason to persecute Jesus, the people still wish for his crucifixion.
The movie did not really make sense of the motivation of the Jewish high priests or
the Jewish people, and it was not explained in the gospels either. However, in Mark
15; 10 11, it suggests that Pontius Pilate realized that it was out of jealousy that the
chief priests had handed Jesus over. The chief priests, however, had incited the
crowd to demand that he should release Barabbas for them instead . Therefore,
according to the Bible, the chief priests were envious of Jesus, and that is why
they condemned him to be crucified. It was an act of panic more than anything
else. The people, fearing to be considered outcasts, therefore agreed with whatever
the high priests would say. This still does not explain why the Jewish people were
so quick to have their savior and messiah killed. The movie suggests that they all felt
passionately about this themselves, because all the people in the scenes are
adamantly screaming for his death, but the gospels do not explain it. The appearance
of Satan within several important scenes of the movie is also something that is not
found within the Bible. Satan appears

Summary Of The Unicorn By Dr. Wright

immediately.
You!
Jayna demanded, Let them go evil thing!
She was a little disappointed her voice was back to normal, her goddess voice was
much more intimidating. Her heart thumped so hard with fear that she thought it
would bruise her ribs.
You re the easiest of all, said the black thingin a voice she recognized. It was Dr.

Already Wright s body was being deformed by the being that cohabited it, but when
Jayna pulled out her glowing sword, there was enough of him left that she
recognized him. She shuddered when she realized this would have been her fate if
that thing was still inside of her. The thing extended its hand in her direction and
black tendrils rose up out of the ground and wrapped around the unicorn s legs. Then
Jayna s world faded away and she woke up in another.
Elmer was lost in the dark, he couldn t keep up with Jayna and now Chaos had

and headed back to the others.

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Progeny
Testing
Breeding value of the individual estimated on the basis of the performance of the
progeny is called Progeny Testing. If the heritability (h2) of the trait is high and
the animal is able to express the trait by itself then individual selection is the best
method. But in case of many traits it so happens that the trait is expressed in only
one sex (i.e., sex limited traits), or when the trait is expressed after the death of the
animal (i.e., slaughter traits), then the breeding value (B.V.) of the animal can be
estimated based on the performance of the relatives (dam, sisters and progeny).
Where B.V. is the additive genetic value or breeding worth of the animal or the
value of the individual based on the mean performance of the progeny. The pedigree
selection based on the performance of dam is not a good selection criterion for the
reason of halving process and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Number of progeny to be recorded per sire should be more. Advantages of progeny
testing It can be used for sex limited traits like milk production and slaughter traits
in meat animals which has low heritability. It is also useful to prove whether a sire
is free from any recessive gene or not. If a sire is identified as carrying an
undesirable trait then it should be culled. Progeny testing increases selection
intensity. Its accuracy increases with increase in number of progeny. Constraints and
Limitations Small population size and unplanned mating are two major constraints
of progeny testing. Problem of small population size can be avoided if the sires are
simultaneously tested in different associated herds or even by field progeny testing
programmes. This will help in increasing the accuracy of selection, as more number
of sires will be tested in different herds with more number of progenies. On the other
hand unplanned mating results in generation of wrong data which provides hindrance
in assessing the true genetic merit of an

Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy is more commonly known to humans as Mad
Cow Disease or BSE. BSE originated from scrapie or Endemic Spongiform
Encephalopathy, which is a disease that has affected mostly sheep and goats. BSE is
an illness that attacks the brain and spinal cord of adult cattle due to an infection by a
transmissible agent known as a prion. Once affected by BSE cattle began to develop
strange behavior such as aggression, lack of coordination with the inability to stand
or walk, and abnormal posture; hence the name Mad Cow Disease (1).

Because of what many refer to as the domino effect, 90% of those infected will suffer
a death within one year (4).
Can BSE be Eradicated
A Tough Road Ahead
BSE is an extremely rare disease making it a very tough candidate for eradication.
This is especially true in humans; while still rare, BSE is much more common in
cattle rather than humans. It is also very tough to conduct studies with the rapid
progression of the disease and the short lifespan of those infected. Because the cattle
commonly infected are vastly spread out between multiple countries, this adds yet
another obstacle to overcome when attempting to eradicate BSE in cattle and in
return eradicating vCJD in humans. Even with the obvious and difficult
complications facing the extermination of this disease the government and scientists
have outlined a few ways to slow down the progression and transmittal of BSE (5).
What Can Be Done Steps to Eradication
Despite the incredibly hard process ahead to eradicate BSE and vCJD here are the
steps that have already been put into place to begin the procedure. In July of 1988 a
feed ban was introduced as the key animal health control measure. The feed ban is
thought to prevent the integration of conceivably infectious material into animal feed
for ruminants, and to prevent uninfected cattle from becoming ill. The FDA decided
to strengthen the 1988 rule in 1997 and 2008 by barring the use of high risk cattle
tissues in all animal feed.
Child Labor Laws In The 1920 s
The decade of the 1910 s was one of many changes. Many changes that were
decades in the making were finally fulfilled. These changes came from new
governmental policies, increases in industry, and the rising incomes of Americans.
Many new rights were given to Americans in the 10s, in particular, child labor laws
were changed, and women were given more freedom. In 1910, children under 15
made up 18% of the nation s employment. Many of these jobs were very dangerous,
had long shifts, and very low pay. Congress passed child labor laws in 1916 and
1918 as part of the progressive agenda. However, the Supreme Court declared these
laws unconstitutional.Women could be considered second class citizens in the 10s.

Virtual Colonoscopy Research Paper
Virtual Colonoscopy
Virtual colonoscopy is a procedure that can be used to examine the large intestine
(colon), the rectum, and the small intestine. In this procedure, X rays and computers
(CT scan or MRI) are used to produce images of these body areas. The exam can help
find problems such as tumors, polyps, or diverticulosis.
Virtual colonoscopy provides a way to examine the colon without inserting the
flexible instrument (colonoscope) into the colon as is done in a regular
colonoscopy. However, a virtual colonoscopy does not show as much detail, so
smaller polyps may not be seen during this procedure. Also, your health care

Generally, this is a safe procedure. However, problems can occur and include:
A tear in the lining of the colon from inflating the colon with air during the
procedure. The risk of this is small.
Exposure to radiation (small amount).
BEFORE THE PROCEDURE
Ask your health care provider about changing or stopping your regular medicines.
This is especially important if you are taking diabetes medicines or blood thinners.
You may be prescribed an oral bowel prep. This involves drinking a large amount of
medicated liquid, starting the day before your procedure. The liquid will cause you
to have multiple loose stools until your stool is almost clear or light green. This
cleans out your colon in preparation for the procedure.
Do not eat or drink anything else once you have started the bowel prep, unless your
health care provider tells you it is safe to do so.

Boys learn at a young how to climb and provide for their families. This theme of
nature culture is very prominent in this chapter, because without learning to climb
they would have a lot less food to feed to their families.
Quote: I began to feel my ribs when I touched my sides ... Later in the evening, the

Explanation: The theme nature culture is used in this quote as the author talks about
how hungry he is, and also how a woman gave them corn she had grown. Nature
culture helps us investigate how groups of people interact with the Earth s
biophysical environment and examine how the culture, politics, and economies of
those groups affect their ecological situation and resource use. The author and his

boys. While the boys are fleeing they have no food, but when they find a young boy
who has food, they take his food and eat it themselves. But the mother of the child
takes pity on the boys and gives them each their own ear of corn she has grown. This
is an example of nature culture, because it shows how people are utilizing the Earth
and its resources to survive in tough situations. Also the town that they wandered into
has a farming culture; this is how the people of that town make money by selling
their corn, and how they also live healthy lives from the nutritional value
Asbestos Removing Process
If you have asbestos in your home, you need to have it removed. Asbestos was
used in older building materials and can cause a host of serious health issues; it is
not something you should be exposed to on a daily basis. Here are five questions
that you need to ask when looking for an asbestos company to hire:
1. Where Is Asbestos Most Commonly Found?
Asbestos is most commonly found in the following building materials:
heating ductwork
plumbing
wring
fireplace
crawlspace
basement
textured paint
old drywall and plaster
old roofing and siding
Make sure that the asbestos removal company can provide you detailed information
about where asbestos is found. You can make this question even more specific by
asking where asbestos is commonly found in buildings in your area. A highly
qualified company will be able to tell you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During their inspection, they should collect samples from any locations in your
house where they suspect that asbestos based products may have been used.
After they collect these samples, they will have to test them before they start the
removal process. Find out how long the delay will be between testing and the start of
the removal process. If you are waiting to move in, this will give you a better time
table of when that will happen. If you already live in your home, it will give you a
good idea of when you should vacate your home and find somewhere else to stay for
a few days while the asbestos is being remove.
3. Do You Have Your Own Testing Lab?
Next, you need to find out if they test the materials themselves or if they send them to
an outside lab. If they test the materials themselves, ask to see their certifications and
licensing to do so.
If they send the samples to an outside lab, ask for information about the lab so you
can follow up and make sure that it is legitimate.

Film Analysis Of The Film SinginIn The Rain
Singin in the Rain was a film released in 1952, and is a combination of a musical
and a romantic comedy. The film takes on a portrayal of 1920 s Hollywood culture
that is very easygoing and cheerful. And as is the situation with most films that are
regarded as classics, it originally received very lukewarm reactions upon its initial
release, but as time went on people began to notice and appreciate its candor.
Nowadays it s regarded as the greatest musical filmever made, and one of the best
films ever made period. In this critique I m going to give my thoughts on the
several different aspects and themes of Singin in the Rain, to understand why it is as
highly touted as it is. One of the biggest reasons as to why Singin in the Rain gets as
much praise as it does is because everything about the filmis as equally charming as it
is entertaining. And one of the biggest reasons why its quality is so far above other
musicals is because it s also able to remember that it s a film, and not just a
musical. These days it s very hard to find a musical film with a good screenplay
because the people behind the film put too much of the focus on the songs and the
performances. But Singin in the Rain is able to make sure that not only is the
musical aspect of the film great, but that the film is also able to tell a genuinely
good story. The film s screenplay takes on a story that s clever and endearing, by
showing the complicated and frustrating switch from silent films to talking films,
through the eyes of 3 performers. So in hindsight Singin in the Rain is a musical
about musicals, as well as being a film about films. And that s why Singin in the
Rain is more noteworthy and significant than all other musical films from an artistic
standpoint. Obviously the big talking point when it comes to Singin in the Rain is
the music, that s always been the focal point and the heart of the film s charm. The
actual performances within the film are nothing short of an amazing achievement. A
majority of the dance numbers seen in the film are long and are shot in a complete
single take, which is a bold artistic choice that not only pays off but looks mightily
impressive as well. And although many of the actual songs
Essay Comparison of Batteries
Lead Acid Cell vs. Button Cell Lead acid cells were invented in 1859 by the French
Physicist Gaston Plante, and are the oldest types of rechargeable batteries. These
types of batteries typically weigh at 5kg, but can range from half a kilogram to over
30 kilograms on the consumer market. Though their chemistry means a very low
energy to weight and energy to volume ratio in comparison to other modern batteries,
their ability to supply high surge currents means that the cells maintain a large power
to weight ratio. This makes them highly desirable for use in large appliances such as
motor vehicles, which require the high current provided by this type of battery. In
comparison, Button cells are much smaller than lead acid cells.... Show more content

Common anode materials are zinc or lithium, and there are a range of cathode
materials, including manganese dioxide, silver oxide, and cupric oxide. Of
notable mention is the mercuric oxide button cell, which was banned due to the
toxicity and environmental hazard of mercury. Reaction between silver oxide
(cathode) and zinc (anode): Zn + Ag2O ZnO + 2Ag These batteries are dry
batteries, and are created with the ideal of a long lifetime. As such, they rarely leak
if ever, and boast a steady electricity production over a long period of time. Both
Lead acid cells and button cells rely on chemical reactions for the production of
their energy. However, where a lead acid cell would typically use an anode and
cathode within a liquid or gel medium, button cells use solid anode and cathodes
which react with each other through a separator. This reflects their uses; where the
chemistry of a lead acid battery allows it to produce large amounts of electricity in
surges as needed to start appliances such as motor vehicles, the chemistry of Button
cells allows for a slow and steady release of small amounts of charge. Cost and
Practicality As was reflected upon under the chemistry subtitle, the batteries have
been designed, and retain their designs, to specifically fit their uses. Though the size
of the lead acid batteries does not allow for the powering of small portable devices
such as watches,
My Birthday Experience
Growing up i learned that i needed to mature at a younger age compared to my
peers. I understood that a low income, minority i needed to work hard to achieve
my goals. One experience that shaped my life happened this past year. My family
and I were evicted from our home a couple of days before my birthday and right
before the holiday season. This made me stronger but it also changed something
inside me. I learned that life isn t a game and that i should be grateful for what i
have, because one day I could lose it all.
A couple of days before my birthday my mother asked me Que quieres hacer para tu
cumpleanos? I was thrilled to tell my mom what I had in mind for my birthday.
Enthusiastically I answered I want to invite my friends over, go to the park, and then
come back home for the birthday cake. I remember inviting all my friends over for
my party. I had always been invited to my friends birthday parties but this year I
was hosting my own. My mom knew my favorite football team was the Houston
Texans and she wanted the theme show. Before my birthday she ordered a huge
Houston Texans theme cake, a Texans pinata, and decorations. I knew this day was

The Symptoms Of Cushing s Syndrome
Cushing s Syndrome
Cushing s Disease or Cushing s Syndrome? Aren t they the same thing? What are
they even? Cushing s disease is a medical condition; a disorder of the pituitary gland
causes it to create too much ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone) which in turn leads
to overproduction of cortisol. Cushing s Syndrome is a symptom of Cushing s
disease; as well as of other conditions, whether endogenous (originating from inside
the body) or exogenous (originating from outside the body).
Pathophysiology and Etiology
Cushing s Syndrome is the result of overexposure to cortisol, a hormone normally
secreted by the adrenal cortex in a diurnal rhythm, with an increase in times of stress.
In Cushing s Syndrome, cortisol is secreted constantly with no ... Show more content

Other factors that may increase the risk of Cushing s disease include obesity, type 2
diabetes, poorly controlled blood sugar levels and high blood pressure. While none
of these factors are a direct cause of the condition, they are associated with higher
prevalence of it. (Endocrine Society, 2016) Cushing s syndrome is most common in
patients on high levels of steroid medications to treat chronic inflammatory disorders.
(Williams, L., Hopper, P., 2015)
Diagnostic Testing
Suspicion may initially result from the characteristic cushingoid appearance in
addition to a history of taking steroids. Levels of cortisol can be tested from saliva
or a 24 hour urine collection. Levels of ACTH in the blood are also measured, along
with potassium. Additional tests may be done to locate the cause, such as a tumor.
(Williams, L., Hopper, P., 2015)
Complications
If untreated, Cushing s syndrome may result in bone loss leading to fractures, high
blood pressure, frequent or unusual infections, Type 2 diabetes, and loss of muscle
mass and strength. (Mayo Clinic Staff,
Graduation Speech At Utah Valley University
Ever since I could remember my parents told me that college was key to being
successful in life, if you didn t attend a good college your life was most likely not
going to be a very happy one. This message stay throughout my life , education was
of great importance and college was the key factor of where you ended up in life.
High schoolcounselors, teachers, parents, and mentors all emphasized that the better
the collegeyou attend the more opportunities you ll have. Being a high school senior
and having to think seriously about the future now, I applied for many schools and
landed at Utah Valley University, a great feeder school for Brigham Young University
. I attended Utah Valley University for 1 semester and I really enjoyed many
aspects of going to a university but decided to go back home to orange county and
attend a community college instead, Coastline Community College. I have so far
been enrolled at coastline for about a month and can see the likenesses and the
differences between the university life and the community college life. I can see no
college is alike, and that doesn t mean one college is better than another. It took
transferring to a community college to see that not even a university is better than a
community college.
Utah Valley University and Coastline Community College, weren t the same type of
school but actually had quite a bit of similarities. For instance, both Utah Valley and
Coastline are well known for being great feeder schools to
Nucor s Trends On The Income Statement, Balance Sheet,...
Recommendations Nucor s trends on the income statement, balance sheet, and ratio
measurement show some concern. There are positive and negative issues within the
company. The data from the financial analysis with Nucor addresses this issues
where precise financial goals can counteract concerns in order to enhance the quality
of investment. The LIFO with Nucor controls planning and investments. This limits
Nucor abilities to make the adjustment without investors aiding the decision process.
In addition, Steel products and resources for the steel mill can be bought at a lower
price from competitors with even a lower risk on investment. The low risk does not
guarantee to pay off any more than a high risk investment. However, Nucor is high
risk with high buy in because cash flow is not effective and effectively being
managed. Therefore, I would not recommend buying stocks. Because a drop in sales
and market trends impact Nucor more than their competitors related to huge
operation expense and product cost for manufacturing. Therefore, I would
recommendation wait until market trends drop in sales and cost of production,
transportation, and labor before buying stocks with Nucor. This would maximize
investment by capitalizing on the risk of investment. The leverage risk is maximized
investment by bottlenecking investments until more gains are acquired on the market
from changes in trends. It does appear Nucor is headed in this direction with their

Gall Bladder And Pancreas Research Paper
The pancreas and the gall bladder are two of the most important organs of the
digestive system. Together they help with the digestion process. The pancreas and
the gall bladder work together with different functions, the gallbladder stores bile
that comes from the liver so that it can be used for meals later on and the pancreas
produces pancreatic juice that contains digestive enzymes that help break down
food. In order to maintain the body stable and healthy, we need the help of the
gallbladder and pancreas to function correctly. Which is why, we, as humans should
take care of our organs. ( Tim Taylor, Pancreas and Gall Bladder) The gallbladder, is
located just behind the liver. The liver has bileducts and that is how it is connected to

Perspectives on The sustainable development
Introduction:
Dam and river vally projects have been known as modern piligrim spots This

is the largest water reserviour in western Rajasthan. It is constructed with a thick wall
between two hills of subsidiary arawalian mountainaries and over Jawai river in
sumerpur division in pali district. It is located around 25Вє6 40 northern latitude line

greenery and vegetation which is hardly 12 km away from the present dam.
Objective :
Mrs. F.S. Fergueson, the Chief Engineer in Jodhpur state submitted his report about
the construction of Jawai dam is 1944 Its was considered better to build it as water

Romeo and Juliet
A constant theme of infatuation progressively is displayed throughout Romeo and
Juliet, starting with an innocent desire for true love, and ending in death. Romeo and
Juliet are the main characters that display the obsession through dialogue. The first
sign of infatuation began with Romeo. He claimed, love, whose view is muffled still,
should without eyes, see pathways to his will (Shakespeare 20). Romeo is obsessed
with the idea of love, and is convinced that love controls you. He ends up getting
confused and makes statements about how love is heavy and light , bright and dark ,
hot and cold, (Shakespeare 20). These oxymoronic assertions show that Romeo is
infatuated with the idea of love, even though he hasn t even really... Show more

Although it could be denied that he genuinely cares for her throughout the play,
this soliloquy allows the audience to realize that he truly does care. He spreads
flowers along Juliet s grave and says, Sweet flower, with flowers thy bridal bed I
strew! (Shakespeare 260). Considering that he is alone and performing this
soliloquy, the audience can see that Paris had veritable affection for Juliet. Again
in act 5, Romeo provides a soliloquy that enables him to express his innermost
feelings towards Juliet. Romeo finds Juliet who is presumably dead, and says, O
my love, my wife! Death, that hath sucked the honey of thy breath, Hath had no
power to yet upon they beauty (Shakespeare 268). Although Romeo is with Juliet,
it is still considered a soliloquy because she is dead . This speech lets the audience
know Romeo s deepest feelings before he kills himself, and sets a closure to his part
of the plot.
Romeo, Juliet, and the Friar constantly make rash and hasty decisions that lead to
the tragic ending of the play. One of the first foolish decisions that was made was
by all 3 characters Romeo, Juliet, and the friar when Romeo and Juliet decided to
get married. Romeo discusses how he imagined happiness unfolding once they wed.
Juliet agrees, as well as the friar. The friar, who should be the wisest, approves and
says, ...come, come with me, and we will make short work.... till holy church

Essay On Transgender Army
On July 26th our 45th president of the United States Donald J. Trump continues to
make his daily appearance in the headlines by tweeting out The United States
government will not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any capacity
in the U.S. military . This ban would affect the already estimated 15,000 currently
serving military personnel and any future transgender volunteers. Following this
statement was an uproar of backlash from all corners of the country and to some has
solidified the fact that Trump does not stand with the LGBT community, which he
ran his campaign on. Many feel this announcement is unconstitutional and a
misrepresentation of our country and the progress that has been made. This
information should... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of this, the numbers of actually serving transgender individuals can actually
be higher. These numbers alone should be a justification for the impact the
transgender community can play in any scenario of combat our armed forces might
indulge in, so why get rid of 15,000 troops? It was decided on June 30, 2016, that
transgender Americans would be allowed to serve in our military and that policy
was put into place. Here we are, a little over a year later and this subject is back in
the headlines, with many currently serving and their future now very much up in
the air. President Trump stated that the reason for the ban was because of the high
cost and economic burden transgender individuals created. In reality the price for
healthcare and pay for these soldiers isn t even a drop in the bucket of our military
s current budget. The cost associated with medical care for gender transition would
only increase military health care expenditures by between $2.4 million and $8.4
million each year an increase of between 0.04 and 0.13 percent in comparison, our
military currently spends $84 million on erectile dysfunction pills. Along with these
statistics, it is estimated that only 0.1 percent of transgender service members even
seek treatments that could delay deployment (Joseph). All of this show s that cost
really wasn t the factor behind President Trump s decision and it has to have been for
another reason. Or maybe he just isn t getting the
Speaking the Truth
Speaking the Truth Before my current boss at the University, my boss was Susie.
When I first started working there, Susie and I did not get along very well. She
would do things that I did not think modeled leadership, such as telling her
followers that they could not take off two weeks before start week then she would
take off during that time. As time progressed, she became a better leader and we
began to get along better. However, another team member that originally got along
with her began to miss a lot of work, come in late, leave in the middle of important
jobs that had to be finished, etc. As a result, she began to put a lot of pressure on
this employee about this behavior. The more pressure she put on him the angrier
he got and he began to fight back in a very unethical way. We would go into team
meetings and she would tell us things such as I went home for lunch and was so
tired I did not come back for three hours and laugh saying I do think John even
noticed. John was her boss and he was located in another building, therefore he
was not aware of her comings and goings unless it was pointed out to him. While
we the team did not think this, was appropriate behavior for a leader as a team we
talked about it being wrong, but did not talk about it outside of our circle. However,
the employee that she was putting pressure on to shape up seen this as the perfect
opportunity to retaliate against her and he went one step above her boss and reported
it. As a result,
The Conflict Between Turks And Armenians
Turning off my iPod, I hiked a few more miles up the mountain, the echo of my
racing heartbeat pulsing in my ears. Feeling my sweat, mingled with the drizzling
rain, trickle down my neck, I let out a deep breath and looked down the edge at the
lush greenery. Kicking a tiny rock, I watched it fly off the edge until it got lost
somewhere among the warring bushes.
With the whispered song of the wind lulling me into a state of calm, I was back in
second grade, playing at the park with some friends from school when I witnessed a
group of Armenian boys bullying a half Turkish, half Armenian child, calling him all
sorts of names, including Murderer and dirty Turk. Although my parents never
condoned racism of any kind, I grew up in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Because he s not the one who killed them. Just let him play and leave him alone he s

The four others boys exchanged glances, their feet shuffling as if they were preparing
to leave.
Come on man, let s just go play basketball, the shortest of the group said, leading
their ring leader away.
Once they were gone, I turned to the boy and played with him until his parents
returned from their stroll. ОЅ Growing up, I always feared the month of April. For
the Armenian community, the entire month represented the 1915 massacres of an
estimated 1.5 million Armenians Although the genocide is commemorated on the
24th through worldwide marches and rallies, the entire month is a sobering
experience.
As the end of March would approach, my anxiety would grow. I would stay awake at
nights, disturbed by fearful thoughts of murder and separation from my family.
Armenian news stations constantly featured programs with old photographs of
genocide victims, ranging from images of emaciated children to rows and rows of
human heads piled atop each other beheading Armenian men was one of the most
common forms of massacre. I remember waking up one night, when I was about
four or five, paralyzed in fear because I had seen my dad s, uncle s, and grandfathers
heads lined up next
Summary Of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy
The client had a troubled childhood growing up in Los Angeles California. He grew
up poor, eating out of trash cans, moving from hotel to hotel. After his parent s
divorce, his father abandoned the family for several years. This has caused the client
to feel abandoned and worthless. The Japanese community did not accept John
because I was of mixed race, which also made the client feel worthless and unwanted.
The client did not have many friends in his neighborhood because I was different in
appearance compared to the other kids in the community. The client felt like an
outcast and would keep to himself. In high school, the client reconnected with his
father and moved into his home. The client reported, I would lay in the bed for days,

The client has difficulties with interpersonal skills because of his past negative
experiences growing up. The client tends to perceive other individual s body
language or comments as negative and an attack on the client causing him to get
angry and anxious because of his past experiences in his childhood. When the client is
asked about how he knows the intentions of others, the client states that I can tell.
However, the client cannot give any details that prove it was the individual s true
intentions. For example When I come downstairs, my roommate stairs at me like I
am not supposed to be downstairs. Due to past experiences, the client holds these
faulty beliefs that may not hold true today. The actions of others that the client
perceives as negative brings the client the feelings from childhood of being an
outcast, worthless, hopeless, and unwanted. When these feelings occur, the client self
medicates with cannabis as a coping strategy. The client s faulty thinking causes him
significant harm to his relationships with family, housemates, and church. Rational
Emotive Behavior Therapy will be used to show the client that the event does not
cause his depression, anger, and anxiety but his beliefs about the event causes his
depression, anger, and
Reca Protein Analysis
RecA, derived from Escherichia coli, is a multipurpose protein that plays pivotal
roles in the three essential and correlated biological events of homologous
recombination, regulation of expression to unlinked genes due to DNA damage (also
known as the SOS response), and mutagenesis. Within this gamut of processes in
which RecA aids, the proteinis specifically needed to drive three biochemical actions:
interchanging homologous DNA, processing effector proteins for the SOS induction,
and communicating between mutagenic proteins factors to drive synthesis past DNA
lesions. Homologous recombination, the process in which double stranded DNA split
and recombine between segments by sequence similarity to create new variations of
alleles, is facilitated... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The central domain (residues 34 269), containing eight twisted ОІ sheet strands with
coinciding О± helices, holds DNA and ATP binding sites and is structurally similar
to ATPase domains in DNA and RNA helicases. ATP will bind at the phosphate
binding loops of this domain, found in many proteins involved in ATP binding (7).
Amino acids lysine and threonine live near this P loop and directly interact with
phosphate groups in ATP. Alongside, two disordered loops named L1 and L2 bind
to ssDNA and the duplex DNA. What is important about L1 and L2 is that because
they support one of the essential functions for RecA in DNA binding, they are
highly conserved. Between the О± helix G and L2 boundary lie two glycine residues
that give a greater interaction between the positively charged amine groups of DNA
helix and the negatively charged sugar phosphate backbone in DNA molecules
Observation Report Child Development
What did you learn about this child s development?
I learned that the little boy in the green shirt who I chose seems to be very smart
for his young age. The little boy was very vocal on what he was playing with. He
does really well when talking about the toys he s playing with. He can even name
each toy he is playing with such as the helicopter, the train and the big truck. He
also followed directions accurately when the teacher asked for specific things. I
also liked when he asked the teacher what a certain toy was called like the lifter.
Then he told her that it picks up wood. His motor skills seem to be right on track for
his age. He also answered questions the teacher asked and his answers were right
about the things he was talking about. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Developmental checklists are based off of physical, cognitive, and social
categories. Tracking his physical development would allow me to look at his fine
and gross motor skills, cognitive development would allow me to check his
language development, and his social development I would take a look at his
emotional development along with his development of social skills. I would use this
checklist to evaluate his development and record his results. Using a developmental
checklist would allow me to monitor a child s development. This checklist can be
used to assess the child s progress in learning the objectives and to keep records of
progress and further instructional needs (Wortham, 2012, p.151). Another
performance based assessment I would chose is to use the Developmental Rubric.
Using a developmental rubric has The intention is to abandon mastery of skills at a
particular grade level; rather, the student is assessed on a continuum that shows
developmental progress (Wortham, 2012, p. 178). Using this rubric I could watch the
developmental level for more than just one grade and more than just one
developmental level. It also shows me the levels of competency that are relevant
throughout a child s elementary school

Lord Of The Flies Essays. Lord of the Flies Essay by RENATA LANGUAGE ARTS TPT

  • 1. Lord Of The Flies Essays Writing an essay on the topic of "Lord of the Flies" can be both challenging and intriguing. On one hand, the novel by William Golding is a rich source of literary elements, symbolism, and complex characters that provide ample material for analysis. On the other hand, navigating through the psychological depths of the characters and unraveling the underlying themes requires a careful and thoughtful approach. The intricacies of human nature, power dynamics, and the descent into savagery are themes that demand a nuanced exploration. Crafting a coherent and compelling argument requires not only a deep understanding of the novel but also the ability to connect its themes to broader aspects of human society and behavior. Furthermore, tackling this essay involves delving into the allegorical nature of the narrative, deciphering the symbolism behind characters and events, and interpreting the profound messages that Golding sought to convey. The challenge lies in avoiding oversimplification and clichГ©s while presenting an original perspective on the text. Researching and citing relevant sources to support one's arguments adds another layer of complexity. Engaging with literary criticism and scholarly analyses enhances the depth and credibility of the essay but demands a keen eye for discerning reliable sources. Despite the difficulties, the process of writing such an essay can be intellectually rewarding. It encourages critical thinking, deepens one's appreciation for literature, and hones analytical skills. However, it is crucial to manage time effectively and approach the task with a clear plan to avoid getting lost in the intricate web of themes and characters. In conclusion, crafting a thoughtful and well-structured essay on the topic of "Lord of the Flies" requires dedication, careful analysis, and a thorough understanding of both the novel and the broader literary context. The difficulty lies not only in unraveling the complexities of the text but also in presenting a unique and compelling interpretation. • 2. How Did Mali And Songhai Affect The West African Trade... The rulers of Ghana controlled the trade of their kingdom and collected taxes on salt from the north. From the south of the kingdom came gold that fed the king s wealth. This gold came from the Senegal and Niger rivers and was in great demand across the Sahara. Ghana was a sort of meeting place in which the north and the south traded. From the north came ceramics, glass, oil lamps, and salt, from the south came kola nuts, palm oil, copper, and gold. Ghana became a wealthy trading empire. Maliand Songhai were also affected because they neighbored Ghana so they were in similar circumstances. When they were at war and Mali took over the Ghana gold mines, they tried to establish salt trades. Several kings later the Songhai took over the gold mines... The Portuguese wanted gold, but the Kongo had no gold, so they settled on trading slaves to the Portuguese in return for goods. The slaves were treated by the Kongo like they were any other person in the world, while the Portuguese treated them like they were monsters. The Portuguese started trading something quite new: guns. The Portuguese guns could be used to protect the slaves from slave raiders, but the only way to get this product was to trade slaves for it. Eventually, the Kongo king agreed to trade his own enslaved people for the guns. After a while, the Kongo king started supporting the slave trade because it increased his own wealth and power. The Kongo didn t mistreat their slaves. They kept the slaves with their families and made sure that they could eventually earn their freedom. The Portuguese on the other hand, treated the slaves so bad that some of them died from being worked so hard. Slaves died from poor conditions and treatment so often that the Portuguese would have to obtain more slaves. In order to get their hands on the slaves, the merchants would do almost anything, even purposely start a war between
  • 3. The Werewolf The Werewolf By Angela Carter Fairy Tales tend to start off dark and progress to have a happy ending or, failing that, to teach a lesson. Angela Carter does an excellent job of this in her short story The Werewolf . This is her take on Little Red Riding Hood . This is not the classic spin on the original fairy tale however, in Angela s take on it we will explore ageism, sexism, and greed. Though the story casts a once upon a time aura, the lessons learned from it are as modern as the IPhone you might have in your pocket. Historically we have not changed much, the old days when women were just seen as objects, are not far behind us. Whether through moving our aging family to nursing homes, or leaving them to survive on their own, even in this day and age we seem to have little respect for our elders. How often is it, that through saying someone is growing senile or having symptoms of Alzheimer s, we send them away to die in neglect in some group home? • 4. Bullet Proof Armor History History The first bullet proof armor was invented in 1897 by Korea and the Japan, it was made of 30 layers of silk, which in that day could stop a black powder bullet it was nicknamed soft armor. But then when firearms became more powerful it became useless. So a priest from Chicago made it better by weaving 1.6mm steel plate between four layers of silk, he proved it was bullet proof by having a man shoot at his chest from 10 paces (25 feet) away with a 44. Caliber handgun, when it hit him he said he only felt a tap. So the inventor tried to make a life off of his new vest. So that is the reason they make the entire vest in one piece, so it can take that force of energy from the bullet and make It spread throughout the vest. (company, 2016) How effective is it? • 6. The Cyclical Argument Of Phaedo The cyclical argument of the Phaedo imparts the ideology Socrates had in regard to the immortality of the soul and his views about death, which he was about to face himself. His most faithful followers are astonished that Socrates is not desolate about his ill fate. In fact, he is delighted with it as he proclaims that the life of a philosopher is merely a preparation for death since the mind is most pure when the stresses of the body is felt least. But even after the body is discarded after death, the soulwill live on for eternity. After much skepticism and doubt, he begins a discourse in which he attempts to authenticate the immortality of the soul. In the cyclical argument or the argument of opposites, he ends up persuading his followers that the soul is indeed immortal. The argument begins with the discussion of the opposites, Between each of these pairs of opposites there are two processes: from the one to the other and then ... He says that the living come from the dead in this way no less than the dead from the living, and, if that is so, it seems to be a sufficient proof that the souls of the dead must be somewhere whence they can come back again (72a). Death is the release of the soul. Socrates conveys that the body is a prison, and that the soul is imprisoned. The body acts as the source of needs and desires, and the attempt to satisfy these needs produces disruptive conflicts that interfere with reasoning and prevent us from attaining knowledge. The soul has the potential to have a total and real perception of the actual truth itself when not impeded by the body. Socrates possessed a rationale to embrace death, in that he deduced that freedom from the corrupting influences of the body would enable him to attain true knowledge. He holds the conviction that when bodily hindrances are disregarded, we can concentrate completely upon the

In 1766, Hamilton s father had left St. Croix where he had moved the family and went back to Saint Kitts, leaving behind his wife and two sons. From that time a presbyterian clergyman gave Hamilton a basic education. At the time of his mother s death, he had become an apprentice clerk in a mercantile establishment, where his proprietor became a benefactor to his education as he noticed Hamilton s intelligence and ambition. In 1773, Alexander Hamilton had enrolled at King s College, later to become Columbia College and University, yet was halted in his studies due to the revolution. Hamilton s view was always to strengthen the central government but many loyalists opposed his ideas saying government should not hold so much power. Among Hamilton s suggestions were repayments of war debt and a federal tax proposal. On June 20, 1790 Hamilton and Madison reached an amicable agreement that the capital would be moved near the Potomac and Madison would no longer block Congress in an attempt to strengthen a more central government over individual states rights. In 1795, Hamilton stepped down from his position as Secretary of Treasurer. However, he had many successes and left knowing America was in a stronger economic position and forming a more stronger federal
  • 8. The Factors Affecting The Food And Agriculture Sector Essay Introduction In the United States today there are many critical infrastructures that are depended on and if one of the 16 infrastructures were to be disrupted it could result in devastating consequences to, not only the American public, but to the world. Each infrastructure is dependent on one another for the most part and if one is disrupted the other would be hindered. All the 16 critical infrastructures are vital to the American society but the Food and Agriculturesector can arguably be ranked among the most important. The Food and Agricultural (FA) sector is responsible for many necessities and if it is disrupted in any way, it could have a substantial impact on America s food source as well as the economy. Furthermore, all governments and private sectors rely on each other for the FA sector to function without hesitation. There are many risks and hazards that are being currently addressed in the FA sector and they are, food contamination and disruption (Accidental or Intentional), disease and pests, severe weather and cyber security. These threats can greatly harm the economy and food supply and will be discussed later in this paper. If any sector of the United Statesthat is responsible for the food supply succumbs to one of the risks, then it can rapidly cause chaos throughout the states without hesitation. The consequences can be detrimental to the communities, states and nation if the FA sector was at all compromised. However, there are certain measures the

With the films taking place nearly thirteen years apart, the secretive atmosphere in Notorious is altered to have a more thriller like feel in North by Northwest. North by Northwest creates a world of confusion and disorientation. Devlin has an air of cleverness, while Thornhill in North by Northwest is lost and confused. In Notorious the group of detectives hold a meeting to discuss the Nazis. The camera starts off with a medium shot with a slightly high angle focusing on the main man and slowly panning out so the audience can see who he is talking with. Once all the characters are on screen we get a full shot, being able to look at their conversation and body language. We then are sent back to see the whole room. The room is very closed off and tight with symmetrical objects framing both sides of the room. Then we are pulled back to the end of the table. This long shot with a slight high angle lets us see what Hitchcock s view on the whole conversation is. Similar in North by Northwest, the script writers of the movie hold a meeting as well. The scene starts off in the same way with the camera s focus on the head of the table, panning out to the whole table. In this high key lighted scene we are met with numerous over the shoulder shots, as well as close ups and medium/two shots. Once the camera pans and shows the whole table, we see two symmetrical lamps lining the back equally once again. The scene comes to a close when a high angle, almost nearly a birds eye view shot over the characters. With Hitchcock being the director, he is given the last say in the script making process and this is his way of

Some people have separate ways on determining the outcomes of certain situations by influencing the actions of people and events. One person could depend and rely on outside influences for their success or they could believe that they control their own life. I have an internal locus of controlbecause of how independent and hardworking I am. My everyday life has many examples of my internal locus of control. Everyone achieves something in their life, whether it is a good grade or a athletic award. When I get a good grade in a class I base it off my hard work towards that grade and how long I studied for the grade. I do not base it on luck
  • 12. Sara Teasdale Essay Sara Teasdale lived a lonely life filled with feelings of depression, regardless of her circumstance. These feelings of loneliness and depression manifest themselves in her lyric poems through her use of emotional diction and her employment of simple imagery. Sara Teasdale, born in 1884 in St. Louis, Missouri, grew up to be an incredibly famous poet. Her father, John Warren Teasdale, provided a middle class life for his family. Sara s mother, Mary Elizabeth Teasdale, focused on their family s image. Sara lived a sheltered and spoiled life. A summary of the entire poem, this quote works to show that she experienced much love throughout her life, however fleeting the love had been. This poem reflects Sarah s mentality that love should be an experience. Jessie B. Rittenhouse wrote about Teasdale s collection Love Songs, stating that Teasdale s work seemed effortless. Rittenhouse believed Teasdale s lyrical style just flowed from her lips. Calling Teasdale s poems impulsive, Rittenhouse believed these poems to be simply composed casual responses to the emotional trials in Teasdale s life (Rittenhouse 425). Another critic, Louis Untermeyer, believed Teasdale s Flame and Shadow Collection to be completely different from her old works. Untermeyer suggested Teasdale wrote this collection to branch out. While the subject of her poems remained the same, Teasdale tried something new in regards to style. Untermeyer criticised that Teasdale limited herself too much in her subject matter, and could have benefited from making alterations there, as well as in her style.Untermeyer also commented that Teasdale became more flexible with her new style, refusing to stick to regular patterns (Untermeyer

After performing various biochemical tests E. coli seemed to fit my microbe the best with only having two misguided biochemical tests that had not fit the data. The tests that were performed included the MRVP test, catalase test, oxidase test, nitrate test, citrate slant test, phenylalanine deaminase test, urea test, SIM test, TSI test, and starch test. These tests helped me discover my microbe along with a few other tests. The first biochemical test I performed was the MRVP test. This test is known as the Methyl Red and Vages Proskauer test. It is a broth containing peptone, buffers, and dextrose or glucose. My microbe was Methyl Red positive and Vages Proskauer negative.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This test is used to see if the microbe can hydrolyzes urea to ammonia and carbon dioxide. When there is an alkaline environment the color turns to pink. Turning pink would present a positive result. The SIM test tested negative for sulfur reduction presenting no sign of the color black, positive for indole production presenting the color red, and positive for motility. Sulfur reduction is a test used to differentiate enteric bacteria. The indole production test differentiates Enterobacteriaceae. For testing a wide variety of organisms the motility test is used. The TSI test stands for triple sugar iron agar, my results had turned out positive presenting a yellow slant and yellow butt (acid/acid). The microbe was a lactose fermenter. The test is used to see the fermentation of lactose, glucose, and sucrose. The last test I had done was the starch hydrolysis. I had gotten a positive result when the result should have been negative. A halo may or may not be seen with the presents of iodine. When a halo is present it is positive, starch is present. When a halo is not present it means there is an absence of starch. When the media is positive it means that extracellular enzymes are capable of diffusing into the medium. E. coli is supposed to be starch

All three centers suffered a combined decrease of 8.4% from fall 2014 to fall 2016. There are various factors, including the shift in the delivery methods, but also in the times and dates of offerings. An example noted within referenced analysis is the 716% drop in weekend enrollment at the Greenspoint Center from fall 2011 to fall 2016. See appendix C for more information. The centers had an uneven impact upon the overall success rates of the main campuses. From fall 2014 to fall 2016, the success rates for LSC Greenspoint students ranged from 5 7 percentage points lower than the main North Harris campus. LSC Victory Center was higher than the main North Harris campus, but only due to the early college high school. The ECHS is approximately 1/3 of the enrollment at the location and recognized as one of the top early college high schools in the state. Interpolation can reduce the ability of an independent variable to explain a dependent variable by reducing the movement of the dependent variable (Allison 2001). Interpolation is comparable to replacing the actual data with a trend. You don t expect the trend to explain short term movements in the dependent variable as well as the actual data. Future Research The findings of this study produce puzzling conclusions. Moving forward, researchers should look at the role of economics on political change in the South at a more local level. A mixed methods approach is most appropriate for this future research because it would allow for interviews with local party leaders to guide the statistical analyses. Also, most people are citizens of a community and less so citizens of a state, so those people should be better able to notice the economic change on a community level instead of a state level. One particular problem with doing research at the county level is that often data is not available at the county level. Some of these issues are solved using multilevel modeling, but a statistical fix does not cure the absence of data. One of the interesting findings of this project concerned the role of turnout in affecting party strength. There are several ways forward. For example, it is possible that turnout drove changes outside of the South. This seems unlikely because the South had such anemic

The One State Solution would only work if both sides committed to a democracy, separation of state and religion and an end to violence because without this the states would have the same problems and not have peace. Right now democracy in Palestine is at a stand still. With elections that have not happened since 2006 the system is not working at its full potential. The leader of the PLO, Mahmoud Abbas, has been in a power for 78 years. Mahmoud Abbas, the highly unpopular president, term has expired many years ago but will not step down. In 2006, the Hamas won the elections but were rejected by the West and so the Fatah stayed in power leading to the spilt of the two party s. Hamas controls the Gaza Strip and Fatah the rest. In Israel there government is close to that of democracy. The government has a legislative authority and an executive authority. The executive authority is headed by the Prime Minster and is elected by the people for a four year term. The legislative authority is made up of 120 members that are nation wide elections for a four year term. Israel already has a government that is set up and is in working conduction. The one state solution would have these two governments come together as one. It would help Palestine s political party s get back on the right track. With one state solution the 120 people in the legislative authority could be

The Relationship Between Media And Bias Bryson Cook Professor Daniel Baracskay American Government 1101 9 September 2016 The Relationship Between Bias and the Media Since its inception, the media has been fiercely castigated for the substantial amount of bias it allegedly encompasses. Popular television media outlets such as CNN or Fox News have been accused of containing said bias by both sides of the political spectrum, and the introduction of news websites and programs on the internet have unlocked a door filled with criticism about the political stances that every single article contains. What indications are there that affirms these accusations of impartial information being conveyed to the public? How does one determine what type of bias each news network displays? The purpose... In their report, Fox News asks If the 2016 presidential election were held today, how would you vote if the candidates were: Democrat Hillary Clinton, Republican Donald Trump, (Other), (Wouldn t vote), or (Don t know)? (Fox News Poll, 2016). 44% of the survey s participants answered they would vote for Hillary Clinton while 38% answered they would vote for Donald Trump, but the actual survey is not where the bias lies. Shortly after the survey concluded and the results were in, Fox News started covering what the survey revealed and the headline showed FOX POLL: TRUMP LEADS WITH INDEPENDENTS (Stevens, 2016). Fox News had displayed the wrong results from the poll with no substantial reasoning supporting it. Many critics that have examined this event conclude that Fox News was perhaps trying to sway their viewers to believe that the Republican candidate was in the lead so that the momentum would carry towards November. However, not all Republicans support Trump, so this assumption may not be a valid reason. Also, the fact that many of the individuals who watch Fox News are conservatives may hold some meaning behind this fiasco. Perhaps Fox News was attempting to sway conservatives who were on the fence about voting for the Republican nominee to rally behind a common candidate against the common enemy. Either way, Fox News has decided to drop their socialization role, which is presenting the same information and portraying cultural values to national audiences (Lenz and Holman, pg. 142), by giving their loyal viewers false information regarding their own poll. Surprisingly, Fox News has done another poll since that incident. Their new survey, which was taken on Thursday, September 15th, 2016, shows that 41% of voters that participated in the new survey stated that they would vote for Hillary Clinton while 40%
  • 18. Violation Of Social Norms At a very early age, children learn about social norms to help them become proper citizens in society. Examples of some social norms that students learn are: do not yell in the library, do not speak unless spoken to, do not talk to strangers, and close the door when you use the restroom. As you grow older, these rules become unspoken because everyone knows how to act like a proper individual in society. The textbook definition of a social normis something that is a rule of behavior that society accepts. (Bicchieri) Since everyone knows these unsaid rules of society, what would happen when someone decides not to follow these rules? What would people think and react? In this paper, I discuss my violation of the social normdon t talk to strangers and discuss what I learned from this experiment. The social norm that I chose to violate was initiating conversation and talking to strangers on public transportation. By doing this I deviated from the unspoken rule which says that you should not talk to strangers and that you should not interact with others on public transportation because of the possibility of them harming or assaulting you. From doing this activity, I learned that power dynamics exist in every situation and that by violating a social norm I, as a young woman, put myself in a vulnerable position. I chose to make this decision to talk to strangers on public transport because it seemed relatively safe and within my zone of comfort, considering

While both cliches hold their own truth about the country, much more lies beneath the tulips and drugs. In this assignment I m going to talk about the structure of the main tissues which are found within the body as well as what their role is in the terms of two named organs of the body. Tissues are a collection of similar cells that group together to carry out a specific function within the body. There are four different types of tissue found in the human body which include; epithelial tissue; connective tissue; muscle tissue and nerve tissue. The first type of tissue found in the human body is epithelial tissue. These types of tissue are found covering the whole surface of the body, lining of cavities, hollow organs and tubes. Transitional epithelium is also composed of several layers but is constructive of pear shaped cells instead. This type of tissue is stretchy, meaning it can contract and expand. It is usually found lining the urinary bladder as it allows for stretching as the bladder fills up. The second type of tissue found in the body is connective tissue. They lie beneath the epithelial tissue helping to connect different part of the internal structure, the cells are more widely separated from each other then in epithelial tissue. The intercellular substance known as the matrix is found in considerably large amounts. Within the matrix there are usually fibres which may be a jelly like consistency or dense and rigid depending on the type, function and positioning of the tissue. Theses fibres form a supporting system for cells to attach to. The major functions of connective tissue are to transport materials, give structural support and protection. The types of connective tissue that will be explained are blood, bone, cartilage, bone, areolar tissue and adipose tissue. Blood is made up of straw coloured plasma, the matrix, in which various types of blood are carried. The movie did not really make sense of the motivation of the Jewish high priests or the Jewish people, and it was not explained in the gospels either. However, in Mark 15; 10 11, it suggests that Pontius Pilate realized that it was out of jealousy that the chief priests had handed Jesus over. The chief priests, however, had incited the crowd to demand that he should release Barabbas for them instead . Therefore, according to the Bible, the chief priests were envious of Jesus, and that is why they condemned him to be crucified. It was an act of panic more than anything else. The people, fearing to be considered outcasts, therefore agreed with whatever the high priests would say. This still does not explain why the Jewish people were so quick to have their savior and messiah killed. The movie suggests that they all felt passionately about this themselves, because all the people in the scenes are adamantly screaming for his death, but the gospels do not explain it. The appearance of Satan within several important scenes of the movie is also something that is not found within the Bible. Satan appears

But in case of many traits it so happens that the trait is expressed in only one sex (i.e., sex limited traits), or when the trait is expressed after the death of the animal (i.e., slaughter traits), then the breeding value (B.V.) of the animal can be estimated based on the performance of the relatives (dam, sisters and progeny). Progeny testing increases selection intensity. Its accuracy increases with increase in number of progeny. Constraints and Limitations Small population size and unplanned mating are two major constraints of progeny testing. Problem of small population size can be avoided if the sires are simultaneously tested in different associated herds or even by field progeny testing programmes. This will help in increasing the accuracy of selection, as more number of sires will be tested in different herds with more number of progenies. On the other hand unplanned mating results in generation of wrong data which provides hindrance in assessing the true genetic merit of an

This is especially true in humans; while still rare, BSE is much more common in cattle rather than humans. It is also very tough to conduct studies with the rapid progression of the disease and the short lifespan of those infected. Because the cattle commonly infected are vastly spread out between multiple countries, this adds yet another obstacle to overcome when attempting to eradicate BSE in cattle and in return eradicating vCJD in humans. Even with the obvious and difficult complications facing the extermination of this disease the government and scientists have outlined a few ways to slow down the progression and transmittal of BSE (5). Quote: I began to feel my ribs when I touched my sides ... Later in the evening, the boy s mother gave each of us an ear of corn (Beah 30 31). Explanation: The theme nature culture is used in this quote as the author talks about how hungry he is, and also how a woman gave them corn she had grown. Nature culture helps us investigate how groups of people interact with the Earth s biophysical environment and examine how the culture, politics, and economies of those groups affect their ecological situation and resource use. The author and his friends are currently fleeing from the RUF. The RUF is an army made of young boys. While the boys are fleeing they have no food, but when they find a young boy who has food, they take his food and eat it themselves. But the mother of the child takes pity on the boys and gives them each their own ear of corn she has grown. This is an example of nature culture, because it shows how people are utilizing the Earth and its resources to survive in tough situations. Also the town that they wandered into has a farming culture; this is how the people of that town make money by selling their corn, and how they also live healthy lives from the nutritional value

Asbestos was used in older building materials and can cause a host of serious health issues; it is not something you should be exposed to on a daily basis. Here are five questions that you need to ask when looking for an asbestos company to hire: 1. Where Is Asbestos Most Commonly Found? Asbestos is most commonly found in the following building materials: heating ductwork plumbing wring fireplace crawlspace basement textured paint old drywall and plaster old roofing and siding Make sure that the asbestos removal company can provide you detailed information about where asbestos is found. • 36. Film Analysis Of The Film SinginIn The Rain Singin in the Rain was a film released in 1952, and is a combination of a musical and a romantic comedy. The film takes on a portrayal of 1920 s Hollywood culture that is very easygoing and cheerful. And as is the situation with most films that are regarded as classics, it originally received very lukewarm reactions upon its initial release, but as time went on people began to notice and appreciate its candor. Nowadays it s regarded as the greatest musical filmever made, and one of the best films ever made period. In this critique I m going to give my thoughts on the several different aspects and themes of Singin in the Rain, to understand why it is as highly touted as it is. One of the biggest reasons as to why Singin in the Rain gets as much praise as it does is because everything about the filmis as equally charming as it is entertaining. And one of the biggest reasons why its quality is so far above other musicals is because it s also able to remember that it s a film, and not just a musical. These days it s very hard to find a musical film with a good screenplay because the people behind the film put too much of the focus on the songs and the performances. But Singin in the Rain is able to make sure that not only is the musical aspect of the film great, but that the film is also able to tell a genuinely good story. The film s screenplay takes on a story that s clever and endearing, by showing the complicated and frustrating switch from silent films to talking films, through the eyes of 3 performers. So in hindsight Singin in the Rain is a musical about musicals, as well as being a film about films. And that s why Singin in the Rain is more noteworthy and significant than all other musical films from an artistic standpoint. Obviously the big talking point when it comes to Singin in the Rain is the music, that s always been the focal point and the heart of the film s charm. The actual performances within the film are nothing short of an amazing achievement. A majority of the dance numbers seen in the film are long and are shot in a complete single take, which is a bold artistic choice that not only pays off but looks mightily impressive as well. And although many of the actual songs
  • 37. Essay Comparison of Batteries Lead Acid Cell vs. Button Cell Lead acid cells were invented in 1859 by the French Physicist Gaston Plante, and are the oldest types of rechargeable batteries. These types of batteries typically weigh at 5kg, but can range from half a kilogram to over 30 kilograms on the consumer market. Though their chemistry means a very low energy to weight and energy to volume ratio in comparison to other modern batteries, their ability to supply high surge currents means that the cells maintain a large power to weight ratio. This makes them highly desirable for use in large appliances such as motor vehicles, which require the high current provided by this type of battery. In comparison, Button cells are much smaller than lead acid cells.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Common anode materials are zinc or lithium, and there are a range of cathode materials, including manganese dioxide, silver oxide, and cupric oxide. Of notable mention is the mercuric oxide button cell, which was banned due to the toxicity and environmental hazard of mercury. Reaction between silver oxide (cathode) and zinc (anode): Zn + Ag2O ZnO + 2Ag These batteries are dry batteries, and are created with the ideal of a long lifetime. As such, they rarely leak if ever, and boast a steady electricity production over a long period of time. Both Lead acid cells and button cells rely on chemical reactions for the production of their energy. However, where a lead acid cell would typically use an anode and cathode within a liquid or gel medium, button cells use solid anode and cathodes which react with each other through a separator. This reflects their uses; where the chemistry of a lead acid battery allows it to produce large amounts of electricity in surges as needed to start appliances such as motor vehicles, the chemistry of Button cells allows for a slow and steady release of small amounts of charge. Cost and Practicality As was reflected upon under the chemistry subtitle, the batteries have been designed, and retain their designs, to specifically fit their uses. Though the size of the lead acid batteries does not allow for the powering of small portable devices such as watches,

Here we are, a little over a year later and this subject is back in the headlines, with many currently serving and their future now very much up in the air.
