п¬Ѓnancial legislation to stabilize both п¬Ѓnancial markets and energy prices. This

This article addresses the question whether, in light of the potential implications for
energy markets, the proposed changes to п¬Ѓnancial legislation will have the effects
the European Commission desires. L. Nijman / Energy Policy 47 (2012) 468 477
469 This question derives its relevance from three aspects. First, the academic
literature has generally focussed on the appropriate regulatory design for specific
markets, for instance in relation to the liberalization of European energy markets or
the stability of п¬Ѓnancial markets. As also noted by Diaz Rainey et al. (2011), little
research has been done regarding cross market effects of п¬Ѓnancial regulation on
energy markets. Now that the line between the traditional п¬Ѓnancial and energy
markets has become blurred, the link between the two deserves more attention.
Second, it may prove useful not just to point out which aspects of energy trading may
come under п¬Ѓnancial regulation, but to take the analysis one step further and
examine how participants in the energy markets are likely to react to the incentives
this new legislation offers them. The success of regulation hinges on how market
participants adapt their behaviour to it, not just the substance of the legislation itself.
Third, to the extent that these proposals are motivated by electoral calls for a strong
response to п¬Ѓnancial instability and

Heroism, Magic and Retribution in Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit
A fantasy is an imaginary world where all things imaginable can be brought to life.
J.R.R Tolkien portrayed fantasy through his use of skilled craftsmanship and a vivid
imagination, which was presented in each piece of literature he wrote. In Tolkien s
two stories The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings we see the theme of fantasy brought
to life through three essential elements, heroism, magic and retribution. Heroism is
shown through the character s courage and bravery in situations where conflict
arises and this enables them to be seen in a new light. Magic is a form of
extraordinary power seemingly through a supernatural force; it is used in a
combination of combat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a child this character encountered Smaug for the first time while fleeing the
ruination of their city; now even though Bard was overcome with the fear that
every mortal has when they are near one of these tremendous beasts, he was
determined to stand his ground due to the love he had for their small town. He was
able to accomplish this impossible task because a small thrush perched on his
shoulder and told him of the one weak spot of the dragon, the hollow of its left
breast. Bard then inflicted death upon the terrible Smaug with his last arrow and was
nearly killed himself by the tremendous weight of the beast in the process, but he
jumped out of the way and into the water just in the nick of time. With a shriek that
deafened man, felled trees and split stone, Smaug shot spouting into the air, turned
over and crashed down from high in ruin. (229)
A character that displays the traits of heroism is one who overcomes the odds
through the use of unique and valuable qualities; this remains just as true in The
Lord of the Rings as it does in The Hobbit. One truly heroic act occurred when
Gandalf the Great, determined to defend the fellowship took on a Balrog, this huge,
bat like source of evil stood on the bridge to freedom and did battle with the poor
mage. Gandalf, stricken with fear caused the bridge to collapse and with it fell the
Balrog. However, with one last effort
The United States Marine Corps Osprey Scandal

From: Christopher Hackett

Subject: The U.S.M.C. Osprey scandal The United States Marine Corps Osprey
scandal took place from July, 2000 to January 2001. It resulted in the falsification of
Osprey readiness reports and the prosecution of several Marine Corps officers
(Rubel, 2009). The scandal originates with the United States Marine Corps intent to
increase production of the Osprey helicopter. The Marines found this type of
aircraft to be ideal due to its unique abilities and wished to push for full
development. In order to reach their goal, the Marines had to prove the Osprey was
a reliable vehicle worth the extra funding to increase production. A requirement set
forth to prove this was to have at least 80% readiness of the entire fleet of Ospreys
at all times. (Flaherty Ricks, A Troubled Osprey Wounds the Corps; Pressures to
Build a New Plane Led To Deception and Deadly Shortcuts , 2001).
This requirement may sound realistic for any aircraft, but not for the Osprey. The
Osprey had a history with three crashes that resulted in deaths of twenty six Marines
and four civilians up until the time of the scandal (Flaherty Ricks, Osprey Probe
Reaches Pentagon s Top Ranks , 2001). Maj. Gen. Dennis T. Krupp s command
included the only Osprey Squadron in the Marines at the time. Krupp stressed the
importance of meeting that 80% to Col. James Schleining, who commanded Lt. Col.

I Want To Have Censorship In Schools
I don t approve the fact that libraries want to do censorship. Library s should a range
of books that people can choose from, if someone doesn t want to read a certain
book they have every right not to pick it up and read it.
When I go to the library I usually don t know what I want to read, so having this
variety of books really helps me out. With there being so much you never have to
read the same book once and there are so many genres that you can read from. That
means there is a book for everyone to read from and can like. Having the ability to
read what you want to read is your right and the schools shouldn t be able to take that
away from them.
When people want censorship I can see where people come from. In elementary
school I can

Defying Convention, By Joseph Heller
Defying convention, Joseph Heller in Catch 22 dehumanizes the soldier and
introduces the reader to the decay of a grim world structured by bureaucracies.
With the amalgamation of incoherent chronology and scattered symbols throughout
the novel, he presents his ideas in an absurd manner. His sullen irony mirrors that
of society. Rendering mankind s abilities moot, Heller dismantles language and its
significance. The very substance of his work the mindless symbols, dark satire,
and deconstruction of language defies the established methods of writing.
Through a novel approach in representing war, Heller eclipses the standard war
novel and by doing so depicts the absurdity of military bureaucracy. The soldier in
white represents the perfect soldier and thus the quintessential absurd character. In
the first chapter of the novel, the reader is introduced to a soldier, wrapped
endlessly in bandages, lying limply on a hospital bed. The name of this soldier is
never revealed to the reader, as well as any other attributes. Heller writes, sewn into
the bandages over the insides of both elbows were zippered lips through which he
was fed clear fluid from a clear jar (19). This clarity associated with his person the
white bandages, clear fluid, and clear jar do not represent the oft mentioned purity of
man, but rather the void that accompanies becoming a pawn of bureaucracy. This
soldier in white is but a mere pawn to the bureaucracy that is the military he is easily
Life Coaches Research Paper
Entrepreneur and life coaches are an important part of many people s lives. They are
skilled at teaching people the skills to make better choices and attain new goals in
their financial and personal lives.
Coaches boost the confidence of even the most respected Fortune 500 CEOs.
Hollywood success stories acknowledge how they have learned from the experience
of having a life coach. However, even coaches can learn from their own experiences.
Self Coaching Can Work
Even life coaches stress to others in the profession, the art of self teaching. While
everyday people may not be experienced enough to successfully coach themselves,
life coaches appreciate the concept. Self talk can be equally as defeatist in nature.
This is one important aspect
Jacob Riis How The Other Half Lives
Demetrios Zioulis Book Report 11 4 15 When it was published in 1890, the novel
How the Other Half Lives by Jacob Riis astonished the middle and upper class
Americans. Riis revealed to the world the horrific living conditions of New York
City s tenement housing. He did this by the use of graphic photographs (that he
himself took) and detailed written descriptions which are all first hand accounts, as
he was a witness to whatever he wrote. After reading the novel one might question
how are the poor subjected to such harsh living conditions and also how the
environment affects them. Riis reveals the hardships each ethnic group faces as he
investigates each tenement to draw out some kind of solution. In doing so, many of
his fears and prejudices are revealed as well. The main focus of Riis... Show more

Their dark and filthy habits were a direct representation of the tenements in which
they lived in. The main social spot for the tenants was the saloon, fortunately for
them saloons were located on the first floor of most tenements. The toilet room
was usually used by multiple different families and was highly unkempt. Hygiene
was almost inexistent. Riis addresses that the poor development of personalities
and behaviors is highly attributed to the poor environment. An individual s future
was shaped ultimately by environmental factors. (pg. 6) The so called American
myth of going from rags to riches was nearly impossible to achieve living in these
slums. How can someone rise up in the social structure when at the time it was
considered a miracle to live pass the age of five? The city s overall death rate was
26.47, however the death rate for children under the age of five living in tenements
is 139.83. Most of the young criminals in the lower East Side of NYC were bred
out of the tenements, therefore if one did live past the age of five, this was the most

Quantum Population Based Meta Heuristic
In physics gravitation is the tendency of agent with object to accelerate towards
each other. In the Newtonian law each object attracts every other object by a
gravitational force. Gravitational search algorithm is one of the newest stochastic
population based meta heuristic that has been inspired by newtanion laws of gravity
and motion. The algorithm is consisted of collection of searcher agents that interact
with each other through the gravity force. The agents are deliberated as objects and
their execution is measured by their masses. The gravity force induces a global
motion where all objects proceed towards other objects with heavier masses. The
slow motion of heavier masses guarantees the victimization step of the algorithm and
corresponds to good solutions. The masses are actually obeying the law of gravity as
shown in Equation (3.1) and the law of motion in Equation (3.2).
F = G (M1M2 / R2) (3.1) a = F/M (2) (3.2)
Based on Equation (3.1), F represents the magnitude of the gravitational force, G is
gravitational constant, M1 and M2 are the mass of the first and second objects and R
is the distance between the two objects. Equation (3.1) shows that in the Newton law
of gravity, the gravitational force between two objects is
The Intrigue of the Book of Danie
Book of Daniel The Book of Daniel is one of the most intriguing books found in the
Bible. To know God s plan for the future it is necessary that you understand the
book of Daniel. Daniel can be divided into two segments of six chapters each.
Chapters 1 6 are made up primarily of a historical narrative that explains how Daniel
came to be in King Nebuchadnezzar s royal court and his rise to power. Chapters 7
12 are of an apocalyptic genre in which Daniel receives visions concerning the future
and the kingdom of God. The book of Danielimplies that Daniel was its author in a
few key passages, such as 10:2 and 12:4. JesusChrist also attributed to this indication
via the quote Daniel the Prophet in Matthew 24:14. In questioning of the original
date for the composition of the book, two views prevail: 1) The book was written
in the 2nd century BC in Judea or 2) It was written in the 6th century BC in
Babylon by a Jewish exile name Daniel. The book sets its own historical timetable
of composition around 535 BC through such references as Nebuchadnezzar,
Belshazzar, and Cyrus (Hindson Towns, 2013). The key theme throughout the book
of Daniel is the reassurance of God sovereignty over the kingdoms of men (Daniel
4:17, KJV). The purpose of this book was to of encourage faithful living among God
s people by demonstrating His faithfulness and giving hope to those exiled from
Jerusalem. God blesses those who put their faith in him in spite of danger or
difficulty. According to
Mental Health In The Film My Friend Dahmer And The
Fire...
Mental health is a heavy topic of conversation in general. People still struggle with
grasping a real understanding of what mental health is and how it effects a person
in their daily life. Due to the already limited understanding of mental health, it is
often glamorized or portrayed in an over exaggerated manner with heavy influence
on the close ups and different kinds of camera angles in order to express the insanity
of a particular character or characters. The films My Friend Dahmer and The Fire
Within, a French film directed by Louis Malle, introduce characters with mental
illnesses in different eras of Hollywood media. The two films utilize cinematography
and narrative to express the mental health issues impeding the two protagonists....

While movies, newspapers, magazines, television shows, books, radio programs,
and advertisements have all been vehicles for communicating the experience
of...mental illness it usually [tends] to be a misrepresentation of the experience
(Corrigan 201). This has a major negative impact on people suffering from mental
illnesses because they feel sentiments of societal scorn and discrimination which
ultimately leads to diminished self esteem, fear of pursuing one s goals, and loss
of social opportunities (Corrigan 201). There seems to be a revival in the world of
movies and television of depicting forms of exploring the minds of serial killers
which started in the 60s with the creation of the Horror film genre. There is almost
a strange fascination amongst audiences to know more about the minds of
murderers and those who are too sick to see the wrong they are doing. Films
depicting mental health have a great impact on the lives of those suffering from
mental illness and also the perceptions of those who do not suffer from mental
illness. The mostly negative stigma surrounding those who suffer from mental
disorders gives them a bad reputation that impacts most aspects of their lives. My
Friend Dahmer explores the beginnings of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer s mental
sickness and how, though he tries to suppress his tendencies, he
The Importance Of Being An Informed Psychologists
Opportunities to thrive have being one of the reason why people migrate to different
countries. With such migration come culture, diversity, teaching and learning that
allow individuals to interact and exchange different ideas. When there is an increase
in population certain organizations emerge in order to comply the needs of certain
groups. That is why in the psychological field, psychologists need to be part of
organizations in order to learn and inform themselves of emerging changes regarding
a group of people. The American Psychological Association of Multicultural
Psychology created a guideline that will allow psychologist to learn how to behave
with certain ethnic groups and will prevent them to have any cultural bias against
them. In this paper I will be analyzing the importance of being an informed
psychologists and the issues that being part of an organization might bring. It is
important for psychologist to learned about changes within the cultural norms of
certain groups that will allowed them to access valuable information in order to
support organizational policy.
Being in a cultural environment allows a person to drawn information from different
sources. However, it is not as simple as talking to a culturally diverse person once. For
instance, psychologist cannot argue that interviewing a person from different
backgrounds culturally orients them. To be culturally oriented includes research,
practices and education towards that ethnic group. Guideline 6 from

How Did The Glorious Revolution Lead To The Bloodless...
The Glorious Revolution is considered to be the bloodless revolution even though
one ruler was displaced by another in what most consider to be a war. What led to
the revolution would change history and the political structure of England and
forever place Catholic out of limits. Religious conflicts and political struggles led to
the Glorious Revolutionand the downfall of the absolute Monarchy in England.
Oliver Cromwell died in 1658; he was not a monarch of England but instead was
named Lord Protector by parliament after he defeated Charles I. Upon is death is
son Richard assumed his role, but could not live up to his father s name. In 1660,
Charles II was asked to return to England and reclaim his throne, monarchy rule was
restored to England.
The return of Charles II to England is known as the Restoration; some wanted
Charles to have absolute power while others wanted to restrict that power.
Eventually, Charles submitted to the demands of Parliament, in which he would
retain his rule by Divine Right and receive an annual income, but he would lose the
power of Royal Proclamation, which allowed him to pass laws without the consent
of Parliament. His return also caused many to call for reform of religion. Avid
Anglicans who advocated returning to the old ways of the church and Prayer Book;
with no toleration for those who refused to conform. There were also Separatists

Patricia Era Bath Research Paper
Patricia Era Bath, one of the most amazing inventors, doctors, and educators of our
time, was born on November 4, 1972 in Harlem, New York. Gladys Bath, her
mother, worked as a housewife and a domestic worker, saving her salary for her
children s education. Her father, Rupert Bather set the family tone for firsts. He was
the first black motorman for the subway system in New York City. Patricia was
encouraged to pursue academic interests and exposed to the value of exploring
different cultures. Her interest in science and medicine was first sparked when her
motherbought her first chemistry set. Bath worked tirelessly for many years to
become as educated as possible, and she succeeded. She was one of very few
students in attendance at a National Science Foundation sponsored cancer research
workshop at the young age of only 16. Dr. Robert Bernard, the head of the
program, thought her work was so remarkable that he incorporated her discoveries
in a scientific report at a conference. Bath managed to graduate high school in only

Film Analysis Of Twilight
Twilight is a movie that is about the myths of the vampires and true love. The
director of Twilight movie is Catherine Hardwicke and it is written by Stephenie
Meyer and produced by Wyck Godfrey and Mark Morgan. Twilight is the story of a
teenage girl named Bella Swan ( Kristen Stewart), who falls in love with the vampire
Edward Cullen(Robert Pattinson). Bella does not has any idea that her life will
change too much, when she moves from Arizona to Washington state. During her
high school, she met Edward who is a handsome and mysterious vampire. Edward
s eyes directly touch Bella s soul and heart and falls in love with him. Edward
belongs to the Cullen family (a vampire family) who does not drink blood of humans
and animals. But whenever Bella comes in front of Edward he has different feelings
for her. The Twilightis an unforgettable movie that takes attention of its audiences
with its distinctive thrills, character s acting, music, special effects and while
watching Twilight I had an amazing experience. One of the most effective aspect in
Twilight is the selection of characters. In Twilight, Kristen Stewartplays the role of
Bella Swan and Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen. Their performance in the
movie is unforgettable. Kristen plays a role of a teenage girl, who falls in love
with a vampire even she knows that a relationship with a vampire can be dangerous
for her and her father. She is an excellent actress, and can play any kind of role
flawlessly. Robert Pattinson,

Men and Women in British Literature Essay
The portrayal of men and women has varied in different stories throughout history.
Many portray women as beautiful, deceptive, manipulative, and smart, while men
are portrayed as being strong, masculine, and easily tricked. In many of the works
covered in the course Major British Writers to 1800, men are advised to refrain from
acting lustful, believed that it would harm their overall ability to succeed in whatever
the characters aimed to do. An example of this is seen in Sir Gawain and the Green
Knightwhen Gawain is deceived by Lady Bertilak in an effort to prove that Sir
Gawain is imperfect. The depictions of men and women are very similar in
Fantomina by Eliza Haywood, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, and Phyllis and

While Sir Gawain was nearly beheaded as was Aristotle in their stories, the result of
the deception by Fantomina was an unplanned pregnancy. I feel that Haywood
shows morality in this result because, unlike other works, the man is not punished
for being deceived, with the only real trouble of Beauplaisir being that he knows of
the existence of his child, which is an internal punishment for his actions. Beauplaisir
being unpunished and having his name remain untarnished while Fantomina was
sent to a monastery with her child is an example of how Haywood remained
consistent with the portrayal of other works in regards to male and female portrayal
while also distinguishing herself and her work from other works. The portrayal of
women in Milton s Paradise Lost is very different from the other works. While
women are often seen as being deceitful, devious, and smart, the depiction of Eve
is different as she is seen as being dumber and more inferior to Adam in all areas
besides beauty. This portrayal of Eve assisted in the progression of Paradise Lost
as Eve ate the forbidden apple after being persuaded by Satan to eat the apple. While
the incident caused Adam to also disobey God, it created a bond between Adam and
Eve that was greater than before the incident when they were considered pure. The
bond between Adam and Eve that is improved through the learning of new emotions,
trying new things, and the
Eve s Apology In Defense Of Women By Salve Deus Rex
Juadeorum
In Eve s Apology in Defense of Women, an excerpt from Salve Deus Rex
Juadeorum, Aemilia Lanyer uses biblical illusions such as the story of Eve eating the
forbidden fruit, as well as satirical diction to convey a message of unjust attitudes
toward the female gender. These attitudes express an imbalanced judgement of
women in religious settings, a notion that would continue to be used not only when
alluding to religion, but also in other everyday life events. Lanyer, however, uses this
satirical language to argue that Eveis only to blame as much as the malecharacters in
the story, Adam and Satan. Since being written in 1611, Salve Deus Rex Juadeorum
has interested readers of all kinds due to its incredible use of feminist diction in
several different poems and paragraphs, all of which are written by a young female
author, Aemilia Lanyer. According to Subjectivity and Women s Poetry in Early
Modern England by Lynette McGrath, Lanyer was trying to sway aristocratic
dedicatees into a benevolent membership in a women s community by poetically
invoking the attractive and idealized discourses of maternity, religion and women s
nurturing love for each other (page 211). In Eve s Apology in Defense of Women
the reader can recognize this heavy use of religious context to persuade her audience
to grasp this idea of building a women s community via the unjust treatment reserved
in the very first book of Genesis. The first line of the poem, which reads Now
Pontius Pilate is to
The Importance Of Drama In Educational Drama
Research on dramatization activity may not always positively reported. In a non
classroom setting, Milburn and McGrail (1992) , conducted an experimental study to
find whether a dramatic presentations of news stories on TV influence the audiences
ability and accuracy in receiving news. They found that the exposure to the
dramatized news stories significantly decreased participants ability to recall the
information from the stories and reduced the complexity of the news. The term of
dramaor dramatization in this context of study is used in negative sense . That is,
dramatization is used in reference to the ways TV stations exaggerate the presentation
of the news for political or rating benefits. Unlike Milburn and McGrail s study, this
study will take the stance of drama or dramatization activity as an intervention
strategy in education that aims to foster students learning.
In 1934, John Dewey called for the urgency of involving creative expression and
exploration in U. S educational curriculum. Gallagher, et.al. (2017) noted that in
and after that period of time, literature in the United States started to emphasize the
insertion of dramatic play or play based improvisation as a key technique to situate
students to express themselves creatively and develop language and thinking skills,
as well as for teachers to see the child s real self Gallagher, et.al., ( 2017) .

The Issue Of North Korea
The majority of the people who live in the United States and elsewhere around the
world, have no idea the extent of freedom we have in comparison to some. Living in
North America, where freedom runs through the veins of our constitution, it is hard
to imagine a world more restrictive than our own. Things that we take for granted,
such as access to the internet, are not available under the same circumstances in
North Koreaas they are here. North Korea is the number one most censored country
on the planet, and their strict limitations placed on Internet usage accounts for most
of that ranking, is commonly referred to as a media monopoly and a mosquito net,
because of the intense control over the information that goes in and out of the country.
The current leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, with the help of the former
leaders, have completely re programmed the Internet as we know it in order to
make it virtually impossible for their citizens to gain outside information. The
country is filled with propaganda, even in places where it s citizens least expect it.
For example, something as subtle as the font size of Kim Jong Un s name is
different. Anytime Kim Jong Un s name is mentioned online, the font of his name is
slightly bigger than all of the text around it. Similarly, instead of a computer screen
reading the year 2012 it reads the year 101 which represents the number of years
since the birth of Kim Jong Il Sung, the country s former leader. The government is
Positive Effects Of Marawi War
Effect of Marawi War in Philippine economy
Marawi was also known as the Philippine s premiere Islamic City . It is the largest
city of Lanao del Sur. It is all its capital on the island of Mindanao in the
Philippines. It was founded by Dansalan group in 1639 by the Spaniards led by
Francisco Atienza, their true reasons of going to Marawi is to conquer the entire
Lake Lanao area. Recently the battle in Marawi started on May 23, 2017 they called
themselves a Maute Group and the CNN Philippines had estimated that the militants
have about 500 men. After that Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte came out and
declared Martial Law in the area.
We all know that Marawi war made all things in the Philippines conflicted, if not all
but some of them are not in a right condition. It has the impact on the business; some
of the investors changed their mind in investing into their company because of
Marawi crisis. According to Mindanao Business Chair Vicente T. Lao, the ongoing
fighting in Marawin City between the government soldiers and the Maute Group that
has already spanned more than a month will affect the investors confidence on on

Biography Of Julius Robert Oppenheimer, An Artist And...
Julius Robert Oppenheimer was born April 22, 1904 to Ella Friedman, an artist
and Julius Oppenheimer, a wealthy German textile merchant in New York City,
New York. As a child Robert was interested in geology and was said to have even
contacted locally famous geologist to discuss the rock formations he observed in
Central Park. At the age of 17 Oppenheimer began attending Harvard, a prestigious
and well known private University. He graduated Harvard with a major in Chemistry
in May of 1925. Later that year he enrolled at Cambridge University in England to
study physics thus beginning his atomic research in the Cavendish Laboratory under
J.J. Thomson.
Then at the age of 22 he was invited to team up with Max Born at Gottingen
University in Germany. There he developed the Born Oppenheimer Method. This
method was an important addition to the Quantum Molecular Theory. Quantum
theory is the origin of modern physics that explains the behavior and nature of
matter and energy on the atomic and subatomic plane. He left Gottingen in 1927
with his PhD and a mark in the world of Quantum theory and Theoretical physics.
A year later Robert began as an associate professor at Berkley while having a joint
appointment at the California Institute of Technology, commuting between the two
for the next 13 years. While at Berkley Oppenheimer was the first to write papers of
the astronomical examination of collapsed stars, a phenomenon we know now as

Christine Castel Biography
Christine took up writing so she could support her family. Her father, Tommaso Di
Benvenuto di Pizzano, was an astrologer to Charles the Fifth, the king at the time.
He was respected greatly by Charles the Fifth. Christine was married at fifteen to
Etienne du Castel. This was arranged, but they loved each other anyways. Etienne
was a scholar, a nobleman, and the Duke of Guyenne. He was part of the French
court, and supported Christine completely on her writing interests. Etienne and
Christine had three children together, including Jean de Castel, who was born in
1384 and lived for eighty eight years. That is the only known child. One fateful day,
Charles the fifth died, and Christine s father lost his job. Not long after, Tommaso
got sick and finally died. Just a few months later, Christine s husband, Etienne, got
the bubonic plague and died. Christine was so devastated she wished she could just
die. The thing was, Christine had to take care of her familyor else they would starve to

The first works Christine started to write were poems. Poems make up most of her
writing. Usually those poems were about Christine s long lost love, Etienne, but
that was before she realized how badly women were being treated. Remember, these
were the Middle Ages; women weren t even able to work back then. Women also
(usually) had no form of education. Women were even considered their husband s
property. Christine started to criticize women s lack of rights in her works. She
believed strongly in gender equality and that women were strong, heroic, and brave.
Other than gender equality and love poems, she also wrote biographies and
autobiographies. This includes a biography about Charles the Fifth, which was very
flattering and pleasing, and her autobiography, which talks about her thoughts on
women. This was written to cease the continued debate about women. Christine was
the original advocate for women s
Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief Analysis
Percy Jackson: The Lightning Theme
Intro: Rick Riordan s fantasy novels, The Lightning Thief, and The Sea of
Monsters , take place in a mythological world where the main character Percy
Jackson is thrown into a new life of danger and adventure. In a world where the
greek gods are real, and so are their many children, a person may feel like they do
not belong. But for a person to truly find out where they belong, they must first find
out who they really are as a person.
Body I: Rick Riordan uses a special type of author s craft in the beginning of this
story to help grab the reader s attention and get them thinking about how the book
connects to them. On the first page of the book, Rick uses 2nd person and suspense
to help convey Percy s personality, and his views of the new world of greek
mythology he was thrown into. In this world, gods have children with mortals, and
they are called Half Bloods , half god, half mortal. In the first paragraph of the
book, Percy seems to not love how dangerous and deadly his new life is, saying I
didn t want to be a half blood and Don t say I didn t warn you (Riordan 1). Rick
Riordan uses this method to grab the reader s attention in the beginning of the
story, and keep the reader guessing on what will happen next. Also, Riordan uses
2nd person as a way to relate the theme of the story to the reader on a personal level,
telling the reader Believe what ever lie your mom or dad told you about your birth,

The Russian Mafia
The Russian Mafia, also known as Bratva (Brotherhood) is a collection of various
organized crime groups that originated during the former Soviet Union era. It is
made up of underworld leadership in which engages in providing illegal goods and
services that range anywhere from drugs and weapons smuggling to gambling and
human trafficking. As in the U.S, there is no universally accepted definition of
organized crimein Russia. However, the Bratva shares many basic characteristics with
other well known criminal organizations such as the Italian Mafia. Therefore, the
definition that has been commonly used in the U.S will be fitting for the Bratva as
well. The FBI defines organized crimeas, any group having some manner of a
formalized structure and whose primary objective is to obtain money through illegal
activities (FBI). The Bratva falls under this definition with one of its many groups,
the Vory v Zakone , which translates to Thieves in law . They are bound by a code
of honor in which states that one is not to make a living on anything other than
thievery, complete submission to the laws of criminal life, including obligations to
support the criminal ideal and refusal to participate in all political activities (Omics).
Give a history of it s formation, growth, and key events (prosecutions etc.)
Criminal organizations existed long before the economic disaster and fall of the
Soviet Union in the 1990 s which resulted in a break through for organized crime.

Cocaine Addiction (H1)
An Ongoing Addiction Threat in America (H2)
Cocaine use has declined in recent years, most likely due to the surge in opiate use,

Even though the use of cocaine has recently declined, it s certainly not gone. In fact,

Social Justice is Vital in Relationship to Social Policy
Social justice is extremely important particularly in relation to social policy, social
work practice and community development as it seeks to alleviate oppression and
relates to the suitable distribution of resources and services (Cheyne, O Brien,
Belgrave, 2008). This form of justice is recognized as distributive justice as it is
concerned with the fair distribution of all resources that are required for well being
and it seeks to ensure all people have equal opportunity and enjoyment of all of these
resources (Cheyne, O Brien, Belgrave, 2008). Whereas, retributive justice, is
associated with recompense and retaliation, and is constructed on rectification when
laws are broken or when harm occurs (Cheyne, O Brien, Belgrave, 2008).
Furthermore, it encompasses the ideologies of equality, citizenship, assuring freedom,
meeting essential needs, risk and rights for all groups and individuals (O Brien, 2009).
Human rights is another associated relationship between social work practice and
community development. Issues of human rights arise when human well being is
threatened in some form (Connolly, 2009). According to Amnesty International
(2013):
Human rights are basic rights and freedoms that all people are entitled to regardless
of nationality, sex, national or ethnic origin, race, religion, language, or other status.
Human rights include civil and political rights, such as the right to life, liberty and
freedom of expression; and social, cultural and economic
The Thought Fox Figurative Language
Figurative language is by no means just ornamental, but an important part of guiding
cognitive construal. (Dancygier, 2014 p196) Attention to figurative language when
analysing a text is critical as making judgement on a text can be undetermined
when taking in the literal sense, perhaps the text when taken literally means
nothing or has a shallow and uninteresting meaning but when figurative language is
taken into consideration a deeper new meaning can be taken from the text. The
aim of figurative language first and foremost is to force the reader to imagine what
it is the writer is trying to express and to explain the concept in an interesting way.
This language is not supposed to be taken literally and through comparisons to
another concept, a deeper undertone is revealed to the reader. Two of the poems in
which make use of figurative language are Mary s Song by Sylvia Plath and Ted

How it is diagnosed
Genetic testing can be used to check blood for the genetic abnormalities known to
cause PWS.
Any suspected diagnosis of PWS is usually made by a physician based on clinical
symptoms.
The preferred method of testing is a methylation analysis, which detects 99% of cases.
A FISH (fluorescent in situ hybridization) test will identify those patients with PWS
due to a deletion, but it will not identify those who have PWS by UPD (uniparental
disomy) or an imprinting error.
PWS can be detected before birth if the mother undergoes amniocentesis testing or
chorionic villus sampling but this testing is only recommended if the mother or
father is known to have a chromosome rearrangement, or if they already have a child
with PWS.
Incidence in the population
Approximately one out of every 15,000 births.
Males and females equally effected as are all races and ethnicities.
Most common genetic cause of life threatening childhood obesity.

Apathy and Addiction in Neuromancer
In the postmodern world of William Gibson s Neuromancer, nature is dead, and the
world is run by the logic of the corporate machine. Confronted by a reality that is
stark, barren, and metallic, and the hopelessness that this reality engenders, the
postmodern protagonist, like Case, often immerses himself or herself in an alternate
form of reality that is offered in the form of addiction (to virtual reality or drugs, for

When this escape from reality is denied him, Case feels more fully the limitations

as a trap: Case fell into the prison of his own flesh. (6) Denied the escape of the
matrix, the escape for which he lives, Case turns to drugs in an attempt to create a

Case ensconces himself in a distorted protective reality, a portable bombshelter built

intent on his own self destruction. When the matrix as an avenue of escape becomes

Adult Learning Reflection
It is humbling to begin a course, thinking that having just finished an educational
leadership program there won t be many moments of new learning only to find that
there is always new learning opportunity available. Isn t that the most important
takeaway from a course focused on adult learning. Oftentimes the parallel process
between what frustrates us the most and what we experience is hard to perceive
when we are living it. Valla (2000) posits one assumption of adult learningis that a
learning a change to oneself as a result of new knowledgeand skills, not simply the
acquisition of that knowledge or those skills. In studying how adults learn: what
motivates them, what needs are and what methodology is most engaging, I have
been able to improve my professional practice. My beliefs, attitudes, and practices
related to evidence based learning and teaching not only have become more refined,
but humbled. As I now realize that in honoring adult learners, just I as wish to be
honored I am better able to open myself to their needs the way I so easily am able
with students and in turn honor my own learning needs.
Elements of Evidenced Based Learning and Teaching It was through this ten week
study of the efficacy of research based instructional strategies to meet the unique
needs of adults that as a learner, I moved from frustration with the resistance of
teachers to professional development to a deeper understanding of developmentally
appropriate responses of adults,

out if the Mote s were going to have a boy or a girl. Kelsey handed Jake a football
field with M Ms. If the M Ms were blue, they would be having a boy. Should the M

Documentum, Inc.
Documentum, a Silicon Valley startup, is the first to market with an enterprise scale
document management solution built from standard relational database technologies
in combination with object oriented methodologies. The software enables people to
collaboratively create, manage, deliver, and archive the content that drives business
operations. The Company is at the crossroads of marketing strategies.
Jeff Miller, the new CEO of Documentation, is faced with the question whether to
undertake an innovative, but unproven, market selection process presented by
Geoffrey Moore, a well known Silicon Valley marketing pundit.
Boeing (aerospace market) and Syntex (pharmaceutical market) were the ... Show

By listening to the customer,
Documentum is able to do the best kind of field research by talking with prospects
in a focused manner, which places them ahead of the competition in the end. Miller
and Moore believe it is key to give people products that exactly meet their needs, as
opposed to products that function all right, but do not precisely meet their needs. In
other words, it s not important to have a great product. The company just needs a
good product. They also understand that people will often pay more for products that
exactly meet their needs.
Geoffrey Moore s method of selecting the target market by harvesting application
proposals from the entire Documentum organization is cumbersome and lacks focus
on the company s core functions. Moore s method would require the company to start
all over in a new industry before they secure their target vertical market. Also, the
company is burning through one million cash per quarter with four million starting
cash. Documentum should focus on their area of expertise to slow the rapid cash
drain before venturing into uncharted waters with a whole set of unknown issues. To
jump the chasm Documentum needs to stay in the same market until the market is
conquered. Repeatable business is important if the company is to be attractive to
pragmatists (early majority). Therefore, I would
Bible Contradictions
The Bible contradicts itself in more ways than one. One contradiction in the New
Testament is the view on gender and gender roles. When the New Testament was
written, men were believed to be stronger, smarter, and more powerful. However,
multiple New Testament writers argue that belief.
Genesis 1:27 29 states that God created mankind in his image and that they would
have power over all plants and animals. Meaning that men and women were created
at the same time from the same thing and have the same, equal power. Galatians 3:28
says that there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.
This verse states that everyone that believes in Christ is equal. Ephesians 5:31 33
uses an analogy of a wife being the church body and a husband being the head of
the church. Just like how the head of the church and the church body are one, a
husband and a wife are equal and become one unified person. 1 Timothy 2:1, 3, and
4 announce that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made
for everyone, ... 3This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4who
desires everyone to be saved. Paul is saying that God desires all people to be saved
not just men ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Colossians 3 4:1 and Ephesians 5:22 24 both demonstrate that a wife is to be
subject to her husband, however they give different reasons. The Colossians verse
says that a wife should submit to her husband because it pleases the Lord. The
verses in Ephesians states that a wife must submit to her husband, just like how the
church body submits to the head of its church. In 1 Timothy 2:9 15, the verses do
not come out and say that women are inferior to men, but it does infer it. It gives
women strict rules and guidelines to follow while the men have none. It also
directly contradicts 1 Timothy 2:1, 3, and 4 by saying that a woman can only be
saved if she gives birth and remains faithful, holy, and

Rhetorical Reading Essay(Revision)
Since they started pouring the concrete for the dam Lake Powell has been a center
of controversy. From nature preservationists to ancient ruins advocates the subject
has been heated and intense. On the other hand, those who support Lake Powell are
just as avid and active in their defense of the reservoir. One of the former, Edward
Abbey, sets forth his plea, hoping it does not fall upon deaf ears.
Abbey attempts in his article to help the reader visualize Glen Canyon before it was
dammed up. He uses a lot of pathos to help the reader feel the beauty of the previous
Glen Canyon and the ugliness of the present. His article seems to be ... Show more

These effects are perfectly normal when working with a reservoir and as he points
out are not permanent. Sodden garbage strewn about, dead trees, sunken boats, the
skeletons of long forgotten, decomposing water skiers; (147) These are all
attempts to bring the reservoir in a negative light but these do not come from the
reservoir but from careless patrons and the inevitable accidents. If the number of
people who visited Lake Powell visited the former Glen Canyon area, the garbage
and deaths and other negative aspects would be at the same ratio because some
humans are simply careless and draining a reservoir is not going to change that.
Often times Abbey tries to appeal to our emotions through connotation and
metaphors by creating a picture perfect image of what Glen Canyons used to be like
with its varied flora and fauna and beautiful landscape. Unfortunately this attempt is
flawed because anyone who has ever been to Lake Powell or seen pictures knows
that it is equally as beautiful as and maybe even more so than the common river and
surrounding landscape scene.
Abbey employs a great use of sentence structure and connotations when refuting the
claim that Lake Powell is the most beautiful reservoir in the world. Certainly it has a
photogenic backdrop of buttes and mesas, projecting above the expansive surface of
stagnant waters where the speedboats, houseboats and cabin cruisers play. But

HKU984 ALI FARHOOMAND WAL MART IN CHINA (2012) Introduction
Summer was making its picture perfect debut in New South Wales that day in
October 2011, but Mr Greg Foran hardly noticed. Newly hired away from his role
as head of Australia s leading supermarket chain, Woolworth s Supermarket
Division, he was set to work as a senior vice president at Wal Mart International, the
fastest growing division of the world s largest retailer, Wal Mart Corporation.
However, what exactly he would be doing was still open to discussion. It was not
until the sudden and somewhat mysterious departure of Mr Ed Chan, the president of
Wal Mart China, that Foran s new role suddenly emerged. That Australian summer,
far from the approaching winter back in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was a marked improvement in China s economy. To further increase and
attract foreign investment, the Chinese government increased its numbers of
experimental, special economic zoned cities in which foreigners could operate a
business. There were, however, restrictions set forward by the government. One
restriction in 1996 was that all foreign businesses would have to be in a joint
venture or other type of cooperative agreement with at least one Chinese partner,
with that Chinese partner getting a stake greater than 51%. In August 1995, Wal
Mart, the great American retail chain and Middle America success story, arrived in
China, establishing a joint venture with Shenzhen International Fiduciary
Investment Co, Ltd, China. In the following year, 1996, Wal Mart opened its first
supercentre and a Sam s Club, its members only big box store, in the special
economic zone of Shenzhen, in the southernmost Guangdong Province. However,
it took the Chinese government s removal of further trade restrictions for foreign
retailers in 2004 for Wal Mart to kick start its expansion plans. Three years later, in
2007, Wal Mart acquired a 35% stake in Trust Mart, a Taiwanese owned chain of
retail supercentres operating in the Middle Kingdom. By 5 August 2010, Wal Mart
s presence in China grew to 189 units in 101 Chinese cities, with the creation of over
50,000 local jobs. By early 2012, Wal Mart nearly doubled its
Comparing Sonny s Blues And The Fire Next Time
James Baldwin s works, both Sonny s Blues and The Fire Next Time, weave the
themes of black identity, family , and religion more elegantly than I have ever
witnessed by any other writer. When reading The Fire Next Time readers witness the
disharmony and miscommunication that wedges itself between a father and son.
Baldwin, a teenager at the time, acts as many teenagers do, hoping to find various
ways to spite his father first by joining a church and becoming saved, but not his
father s church; then by insulting his father s beliefs and rules by inviting a non
christian into the familyhome, although he already anticipates his father s reaction to
such an act; and finally by joining the pulpit, although he is not a true believer.

A developed country is a state that has a highly cultivated economy and advanced

England is accounted as a developed nation on the grounds that the expectation for
everyday life is great, it has a liberal society and it is mechanically mindful.
Contrasted with an underdeveloped nation like Pakistan where the expectation for
everyday life is low. Nourishment, electricity and water are rare, and where a few
laws could without much of stretch abuse fundamental human rights.

This article addresses the question whether, in light of the potential implications for energy markets, the proposed changes to financial legislation will have the effects the European Commission desires. L. Nijman / Energy Policy 47 (2012) 468 477 469 This question derives its relevance from three aspects. First, the academic literature has generally focussed on the appropriate regulatory design for specific markets, for instance in relation to the liberalization of European energy markets or the stability of financial markets. As also noted by Diaz Rainey et al. (2011), little research has been done regarding cross market effects of financial regulation on energy markets. Now that the line between the traditional financial and energy markets has become blurred, the link between the two deserves more attention. Second, it may prove useful not just to point out which aspects of energy trading may come under financial regulation, but to take the analysis one step further and examine how participants in the energy markets are likely to react to the incentives this new legislation offers them. The success of regulation hinges on how market participants adapt their behaviour to it, not just the substance of the legislation itself. Third, to the extent that these proposals are motivated by electoral calls for a strong response to financial instability and

Heroism, Magic and Retribution in Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit A fantasy is an imaginary world where all things imaginable can be brought to life. J.R.R Tolkien portrayed fantasy through his use of skilled craftsmanship and a vivid imagination, which was presented in each piece of literature he wrote. In Tolkien s two stories The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings we see the theme of fantasy brought to life through three essential elements, heroism, magic and retribution. Heroism is shown through the character s courage and bravery in situations where conflict arises and this enables them to be seen in a new light. As a child this character encountered Smaug for the first time while fleeing the ruination of their city; now even though Bard was overcome with the fear that every mortal has when they are near one of these tremendous beasts, he was determined to stand his ground due to the love he had for their small town. He was able to accomplish this impossible task because a small thrush perched on his shoulder and told him of the one weak spot of the dragon, the hollow of its left breast. Bard then inflicted death upon the terrible Smaug with his last arrow and was nearly killed himself by the tremendous weight of the beast in the process, but he jumped out of the way and into the water just in the nick of time. With a shriek that deafened man, felled trees and split stone, Smaug shot spouting into the air, turned over and crashed down from high in ruin. One truly heroic act occurred when Gandalf the Great, determined to defend the fellowship took on a Balrog, this huge, bat like source of evil stood on the bridge to freedom and did battle with the poor mage. Gandalf, stricken with fear caused the bridge to collapse and with it fell the Balrog. However, with one last effort

Osprey scandal The United States Marine Corps Osprey scandal took place from July, 2000 to January 2001. It resulted in the falsification of Osprey readiness reports and the prosecution of several Marine Corps officers (Rubel, 2009). The scandal originates with the United States Marine Corps intent to increase production of the Osprey helicopter. The Marines found this type of aircraft to be ideal due to its unique abilities and wished to push for full development. In order to reach their goal, the Marines had to prove the Osprey was a reliable vehicle worth the extra funding to increase production. A requirement set forth to prove this was to have at least 80% readiness of the entire fleet of Ospreys at all times. (Flaherty Ricks, A Troubled Osprey Wounds the Corps; Pressures to Build a New Plane Led To Deception and Deadly Shortcuts , 2001). This requirement may sound realistic for any aircraft, but not for the Osprey. The Osprey had a history with three crashes that resulted in deaths of twenty six Marines and four civilians up until the time of the scandal (Flaherty Ricks, Osprey Probe Reaches Pentagon s Top Ranks , 2001). Maj. Gen. Dennis T. Krupp s command included the only Osprey Squadron in the Marines at the time. Krupp stressed the importance of meeting that 80% to Col. James Schleining, who commanded Lt. Col. With the amalgamation of incoherent chronology and scattered symbols throughout the novel, he presents his ideas in an absurd manner. His sullen irony mirrors that of society. Rendering mankind s abilities moot, Heller dismantles language and its significance. The very substance of his work the mindless symbols, dark satire, and deconstruction of language defies the established methods of writing. Through a novel approach in representing war, Heller eclipses the standard war novel and by doing so depicts the absurdity of military bureaucracy. The soldier in white represents the perfect soldier and thus the quintessential absurd character. In the first chapter of the novel, the reader is introduced to a soldier, wrapped endlessly in bandages, lying limply on a hospital bed. The name of this soldier is never revealed to the reader, as well as any other attributes. Heller writes, sewn into the bandages over the insides of both elbows were zippered lips through which he was fed clear fluid from a clear jar (19). This clarity associated with his person the white bandages, clear fluid, and clear jar do not represent the oft mentioned purity of man, but rather the void that accompanies becoming a pawn of bureaucracy. He did this by the use of graphic photographs (that he himself took) and detailed written descriptions which are all first hand accounts, as he was a witness to whatever he wrote. After reading the novel one might question how are the poor subjected to such harsh living conditions and also how the environment affects them. In the Newtonian law each object attracts every other object by a gravitational force. Gravitational search algorithm is one of the newest stochastic population based meta heuristic that has been inspired by newtanion laws of gravity and motion. The algorithm is consisted of collection of searcher agents that interact with each other through the gravity force. The agents are deliberated as objects and their execution is measured by their masses. The gravity force induces a global motion where all objects proceed towards other objects with heavier masses. The slow motion of heavier masses guarantees the victimization step of the algorithm and corresponds to good solutions. To know God s plan for the future it is necessary that you understand the book of Daniel. Daniel can be divided into two segments of six chapters each. Chapters 1 6 are made up primarily of a historical narrative that explains how Daniel came to be in King Nebuchadnezzar s royal court and his rise to power. Chapters 7 12 are of an apocalyptic genre in which Daniel receives visions concerning the future and the kingdom of God. The book of Danielimplies that Daniel was its author in a few key passages, such as 10:2 and 12:4. JesusChrist also attributed to this indication via the quote Daniel the Prophet in Matthew 24:14. In questioning of the original date for the composition of the book, two views prevail: 1) The book was written in the 2nd century BC in Judea or 2) It was written in the 6th century BC in Babylon by a Jewish exile name Daniel. The book sets its own historical timetable of composition around 535 BC through such references as Nebuchadnezzar, Belshazzar, and Cyrus (Hindson Towns, 2013). The key theme throughout the book of Daniel is the reassurance of God sovereignty over the kingdoms of men (Daniel 4:17, KJV). The purpose of this book was to of encourage faithful living among God s people by demonstrating His faithfulness and giving hope to those exiled from Jerusalem. God blesses those who put their faith in him in spite of danger or difficulty. According to

  • 20. Men and Women in British Literature Essay The portrayal of men and women has varied in different stories throughout history. Many portray women as beautiful, deceptive, manipulative, and smart, while men are portrayed as being strong, masculine, and easily tricked. In many of the works covered in the course Major British Writers to 1800, men are advised to refrain from acting lustful, believed that it would harm their overall ability to succeed in whatever the characters aimed to do. An example of this is seen in Sir Gawain and the Green Knightwhen Gawain is deceived by Lady Bertilak in an effort to prove that Sir Gawain is imperfect. The depictions of men and women are very similar in Fantomina by Eliza Haywood, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, and Phyllis and Aristotle. .... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Sir Gawain was nearly beheaded as was Aristotle in their stories, the result of the deception by Fantomina was an unplanned pregnancy. I feel that Haywood shows morality in this result because, unlike other works, the man is not punished for being deceived, with the only real trouble of Beauplaisir being that he knows of the existence of his child, which is an internal punishment for his actions. Beauplaisir being unpunished and having his name remain untarnished while Fantomina was sent to a monastery with her child is an example of how Haywood remained consistent with the portrayal of other works in regards to male and female portrayal while also distinguishing herself and her work from other works. The portrayal of women in Milton s Paradise Lost is very different from the other works. While women are often seen as being deceitful, devious, and smart, the depiction of Eve is different as she is seen as being dumber and more inferior to Adam in all areas besides beauty. This portrayal of Eve assisted in the progression of Paradise Lost as Eve ate the forbidden apple after being persuaded by Satan to eat the apple. While the incident caused Adam to also disobey God, it created a bond between Adam and Eve that was greater than before the incident when they were considered pure. The bond between Adam and Eve that is improved through the learning of new emotions, trying new things, and the

Eve s Apology In Defense Of Women By Salve Deus Rex Juadeorum In Eve s Apology in Defense of Women, an excerpt from Salve Deus Rex Juadeorum, Aemilia Lanyer uses biblical illusions such as the story of Eve eating the forbidden fruit, as well as satirical diction to convey a message of unjust attitudes toward the female gender. These attitudes express an imbalanced judgement of women in religious settings, a notion that would continue to be used not only when alluding to religion, but also in other everyday life events. Lanyer, however, uses this satirical language to argue that Eveis only to blame as much as the malecharacters in the story, Adam and Satan. Since being written in 1611, Salve Deus Rex Juadeorum has interested readers of all kinds due to its incredible use of feminist diction in several different poems and paragraphs, all of which are written by a young female author, Aemilia Lanyer. According to Subjectivity and Women s Poetry in Early Modern England by Lynette McGrath, Lanyer was trying to sway aristocratic dedicatees into a benevolent membership in a women s community by poetically invoking the attractive and idealized discourses of maternity, religion and women s nurturing love for each other (page 211). In Eve s Apology in Defense of Women the reader can recognize this heavy use of religious context to persuade her audience to grasp this idea of building a women s community via the unjust treatment reserved in the very first book of Genesis. They found that the exposure to the dramatized news stories significantly decreased participants ability to recall the information from the stories and reduced the complexity of the news. The term of dramaor dramatization in this context of study is used in negative sense . That is, dramatization is used in reference to the ways TV stations exaggerate the presentation of the news for political or rating benefits. Unlike Milburn and McGrail s study, this study will take the stance of drama or dramatization activity as an intervention strategy in education that aims to foster students learning. In 1934, John Dewey called for the urgency of involving creative expression and exploration in U. S educational curriculum. Gallagher, et.al. (2017) noted that in and after that period of time, literature in the United States started to emphasize the insertion of dramatic play or play based improvisation as a key technique to situate students to express themselves creatively and develop language and thinking skills, as well as for teachers to see the child s real self Gallagher, et.al., ( 2017) . Living in North America, where freedom runs through the veins of our constitution, it is hard to imagine a world more restrictive than our own. Things that we take for granted, such as access to the internet, are not available under the same circumstances in North Koreaas they are here. North Korea is the number one most censored country on the planet, and their strict limitations placed on Internet usage accounts for most of that ranking, is commonly referred to as a media monopoly and a mosquito net, because of the intense control over the information that goes in and out of the country. The current leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, with the help of the former leaders, have completely re programmed the Internet as we know it in order to make it virtually impossible for their citizens to gain outside information. The country is filled with propaganda, even in places where it s citizens least expect it. For example, something as subtle as the font size of Kim Jong Un s name is different. Anytime Kim Jong Un s name is mentioned online, the font of his name is slightly bigger than all of the text around it. Similarly, instead of a computer screen reading the year 2012 it reads the year 101 which represents the number of years since the birth of Kim Jong Il Sung, the country s former leader. In a world where the greek gods are real, and so are their many children, a person may feel like they do not belong. But for a person to truly find out where they belong, they must first find out who they really are as a person. Body I: Rick Riordan uses a special type of author s craft in the beginning of this story to help grab the reader s attention and get them thinking about how the book connects to them. On the first page of the book, Rick uses 2nd person and suspense to help convey Percy s personality, and his views of the new world of greek mythology he was thrown into. In this world, gods have children with mortals, and they are called Half Bloods , half god, half mortal. In the first paragraph of the book, Percy seems to not love how dangerous and deadly his new life is, saying I didn t want to be a half blood and Don t say I didn t warn you (Riordan 1). Social Justice is Vital in Relationship to Social Policy Social justice is extremely important particularly in relation to social policy, social work practice and community development as it seeks to alleviate oppression and relates to the suitable distribution of resources and services (Cheyne, O Brien, Belgrave, 2008). This form of justice is recognized as distributive justice as it is concerned with the fair distribution of all resources that are required for well being and it seeks to ensure all people have equal opportunity and enjoyment of all of these resources (Cheyne, O Brien, Belgrave, 2008). Whereas, retributive justice, is associated with recompense and retaliation, and is constructed on rectification when laws are broken or when harm occurs (Cheyne, O Brien, Belgrave, 2008). Furthermore, it encompasses the ideologies of equality, citizenship, assuring freedom, meeting essential needs, risk and rights for all groups and individuals (O Brien, 2009). Human rights is another associated relationship between social work practice and community development. Issues of human rights arise when human well being is threatened in some form (Connolly, 2009). One of the former, Edward Abbey, sets forth his plea, hoping it does not fall upon deaf ears. Abbey attempts in his article to help the reader visualize Glen Canyon before it was dammed up. He uses a lot of pathos to help the reader feel the beauty of the previous Glen Canyon and the ugliness of the present. His article seems to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These effects are perfectly normal when working with a reservoir and as he points out are not permanent. Sodden garbage strewn about, dead trees, sunken boats, the skeletons of long forgotten, decomposing water skiers; (147) These are all attempts to bring the reservoir in a negative light but these do not come from the reservoir but from careless patrons and the inevitable accidents. If the number of people who visited Lake Powell visited the former Glen Canyon area, the garbage and deaths and other negative aspects would be at the same ratio because some humans are simply careless and draining a reservoir is not going to change that. Often times Abbey tries to appeal to our emotions through connotation and metaphors by creating a picture perfect image of what Glen Canyons used to be like with its varied flora and fauna and beautiful landscape. Unfortunately this attempt is flawed because anyone who has ever been to Lake Powell or seen pictures knows that it is equally as beautiful as and maybe even more so than the common river and surrounding landscape scene. Abbey employs a great use of sentence structure and connotations when refuting the claim that Lake Powell is the most beautiful reservoir in the world. Certainly it has a photogenic backdrop of buttes and mesas, projecting above the expansive surface of stagnant waters where the speedboats, houseboats and cabin cruisers play. But

Walmart China HKU984 ALI FARHOOMAND WAL MART IN CHINA (2012) Introduction Summer was making its picture perfect debut in New South Wales that day in October 2011, but Mr Greg Foran hardly noticed. Newly hired away from his role as head of Australia s leading supermarket chain, Woolworth s Supermarket Division, he was set to work as a senior vice president at Wal Mart International, the fastest growing division of the world s largest retailer, Wal Mart Corporation. However, what exactly he would be doing was still open to discussion. It was not until the sudden and somewhat mysterious departure of Mr Ed Chan, the president of Wal Mart China, that Foran s new role suddenly emerged. That Australian summer, far from the approaching winter back in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There was a marked improvement in China s economy. To further increase and attract foreign investment, the Chinese government increased its numbers of experimental, special economic zoned cities in which foreigners could operate a business. There were, however, restrictions set forward by the government. One restriction in 1996 was that all foreign businesses would have to be in a joint venture or other type of cooperative agreement with at least one Chinese partner, with that Chinese partner getting a stake greater than 51%. In August 1995, Wal Mart, the great American retail chain and Middle America success story, arrived in China, establishing a joint venture with Shenzhen International Fiduciary Investment Co, Ltd, China. In the following year, 1996, Wal Mart opened its first supercentre and a Sam s Club, its members only big box store, in the special economic zone of Shenzhen, in the southernmost Guangdong Province. However, it took the Chinese government s removal of further trade restrictions for foreign retailers in 2004 for Wal Mart to kick start its expansion plans. Three years later, in 2007, Wal Mart acquired a 35% stake in Trust Mart, a Taiwanese owned chain of retail supercentres operating in the Middle Kingdom. By 5 August 2010, Wal Mart s presence in China grew to 189 units in 101 Chinese cities, with the creation of over 50,000 local jobs. By early 2012, Wal Mart nearly doubled its

Comparing Sonny s Blues And The Fire Next Time James Baldwin s works, both Sonny s Blues and The Fire Next Time, weave the themes of black identity, family , and religion more elegantly than I have ever witnessed by any other writer. When reading The Fire Next Time readers witness the disharmony and miscommunication that wedges itself between a father and son. Baldwin, a teenager at the time, acts as many teenagers do, hoping to find various ways to spite his father first by joining a church and becoming saved, but not his father s church; then by insulting his father s beliefs and rules by inviting a non christian into the familyhome, although he already anticipates his father s reaction to such an act; and finally by joining the pulpit, although he is not a true believer.
