GOLFERS OF THE WEEK
MEN’S
Blake Hartford, Texas A&M University-Commerce, SO, Spring, Texas, Klein Collins HS
Hartford led the Lions to the championship at the WNMU Fall Intercollegiate with an 8-under par 208 to place fourth in
the event. His scores of 70-68-70 included one eagle and 16 birdies. He has been under par in five of his six rounds as a
Lion. The Lions have recorded the two best 54-hole scores in school history in their two events so far this season.
WOMEN’S
Kamryn Cummings, Angelo State University, JR, San Angelo, Central
Cummings earned her first-ever collegiate win on Tuesday at the West Texas A&M Invitational. The junior started the
second day of the tournament in third place after a 73, but shot a five-under 67 in the second round to finish the
tournament in first. The single-round score is the lowest of her collegiate career, breaking a previous low of 68 her
freshman year. The 67 on day two gave Cummings a total score of 140, which was four under par and four strokes better
than the two players tied for second. The San Angelo native led the tournament field with 10 birdies and made par on 21
holes overall.

Michael Hodson, West Texas A&M University, SO, Amarillo, Texas, Home School, Michael Hodson fired a 3-over 219
score to finish tied for 28th leading the Buffs at the WNMU Fall Intercollegiate. Hodson carded rounds of 72, 71 and 76
for the Buffs who finished 15th as a team this week.
Jelina Fernando, West Texas A&M University, SO, Haywards Heath, England, Central Sussex, Jelina Fernando fired a final
round 70 to go along with a 74 for a 144 score and finished tied for second at the West Texas A&M Fall Invitational.
Fernando's 2-under 70 helped lead WT to the team title and a school-record 285 second round as the Lady Buffs won
the tournament by a combined 23 strokes. It was Fernando's best finish of the season.

The Lion men earned the championship trophy at the Western New Mexico Fall Intercollegiate on the back of two top-
10 individual performances. The Lions tied with Cal State San Marcos with 54-hole scores of 851. A&M-Commerce was
awarded the championship trophy by virtue of having the lowest drop score in the final round. Blake Hartford placed
fourth in the event with a 208 (-8). He carded a 70 (-2) in the final round with six birdies on the day. He had a total of 16
birdies in the event, as well as an eagle. Lucas McCubbin placed seventh in the tournament with a 209 (-7). Hs shot even
par 72 in Tuesday's round, but rebounded well from a tough front nine with three birdies on the back nine. He had 13
birdies in the tournament. The Lions have shot the two best 54-hole scores in school history in the first two events of
the season. Five of the six rounds the Lions have played have been under par. The Lions have two more events in the fall
portion of the schedule, with the next coming on October 16-17 at the Midwestern State Invitational. A&M-Commerce
hosts The Classic at Firewheel on October 30-31.

The West Texas A&M Lady Buffs put on a record show this week in the West Texas A&M Fall Invitational winning the
tournament by 23 strokes over No. 4 Newman...The field was 12 teams and WT took a four-stroke lead into the final
round and shot a school-record 285 for a school-best 581 36-hole score...Sophomore Jelina Fernando and senior Mattye
Mason tied for second each with a 144, while junior Kaylin Milholland finished fifth with a 145 score...Ueakarn
"Loukyee" Songprasert fired a team-low 69 in the second round as three of the Lady Buffs' second round scores were
under par...The No. 9 Lady Buffs close the fall season at the Cameron Intercollegiate Oct. 16-17 at Fort Sill Golf Club...
The Buffs also competed this week finishing 15th at the WNMU Fall Intercollegiate...WT opened with a disappointing
300 for the first round, but battled back for a 289 for the second round sitting 14th after 36-holes...The Buffs just
couldn't make up any ground on the final day shooting a 299...The Buffs had good opportunities at birdies throughout

Western New Mexico
Senior Ross White and sophomore Pedro De La Vega each posted one-over 73's to help lead the Western New Mexico
University men's golf team up a spot to 12th after the third and final round of the WNMU Intercollegiate took place at
the par 72, 7,139-yard Golf Club of Estrella Course. The Mustangs tallied rounds of 291-295-295 for an 881 to land in
12th. De La Vega and White put together solid rounds to help lead the way, as both ended up with 73's during the final
round. De La Vega tied for 28th with rounds of 75 and 71 around his 73 to post a 219. On Tuesday, he collected birdies
on holes four, 12 and 13. White had scores of 73 and 74 around his final round 73 for a 220 to tie for 36th. White was
consistent with 15 pars and a birdie on hole seven. Freshman Sam Ruston carded rounds of 70-75-77 for a 222 to tie for
40th. He sunk a birdie on hole two and had 13 pars. Freshman Harry O'Callaghan tallied a 225 with rounds of 73-77-75 to
tie for 60th. He had three birdies on holes four, five and 10. Sophomore Gonzalo Pan De Soraluce recovered from a
tough opening round 87, to post scores of 75 and 74 to end up with a 236 to end up in 91st. He had birdies on holes
seven, eight and 18.
