LSC FOOTBALL
Eight games are on the schedule this week including one Lone Star Conference contest and seven non-
conference games. Western New Mexico and Eastern New Mexico will open LSC play in Portales, NM.
	 Midwestern State, Texas A&M-Kingsville and UT Permian Basin started the season with wins in non-
conference action last week.
	 LSC football teams are 3-6 overall this season. The squads are 1-2 combined versus the Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Great Lakes Valley Conference and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference
teams, which are also in NCAA Super Regional Four.
LSC FOOTBALL ON ESPN3
A pair of Lone Star Conference football games are part of the 2016 Division II Football Showcase schedule and
will be broadcast on ESPN3 and WatchESPN.
	 UT Permian Basin will host West Texas A&M on September 17 in the Falcon’s first LSC football game in the
program’s initial season. The league opener for both teams will kickoff at 7 p.m. from Ratliff Stadium.
	 For a second straight season, A&M-Commerce will host a national broadcast on October 8 as the Lions wel-
come Midwestern State. The game starts at 7 p.m.
	 NCAA Division II announced 18 of the 22 regular-season football games that will be carried on ESPN3, Wat-
chESPN and American Sports Network, after the division entered a three-year agreement in 2015 to deliver
Division II athletics events. By comparison, only seven games were televised in each of the 2013 and 2014
seasons.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Myles Carr, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, SR, QB, Arcadia, Calif., Arcadia
Carr surpassed the 300-yard mark in the 2016 season opener, completing 23 of his 28 passes for 313 yards and
three scores... Carr, who began the game 8-of-8, found Jordan Thomas twice and Chris Cooper late in the game
to seal the win... he has thrown three or more TDs four times in his Javelina career and the win led the Hogs to
their first season opening victory since 2012.
DEFENSIVE
Josh Wydermyer, Midwestern State University, SO, S, Pflugerville, Texas, Hendricks HS
Wydermyer made a career-high eight tackles in his first collegiate start leading Midwestern State to a 31-19
win over Truman State Saturday night at Stokes Stadium in Kirksville, Mo. The sophomore from Pflugerville
spearheaded a defensive effort that limited the Bulldogs to 255 yards of total offense and just 85 in the second
half.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Bailey Giffen, UT Permian Basin, FR, PR/KR, Bryan, Texas, Rudder HS
Giffen was perfect in his first college game, connecting on a pair of 27 and 30 yard field goals and all three of
his extra point attempts. The freshman punted five times with two downed inside the 20 and a long punt of
57 yards.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
	 Bubba Tandy, Tarleton State University, started off his senior campaign by going for 91 yards on five
receptions, including a 51-yard catch in the middle of Tarleton’s first-quarter scoring drive that saw the Texans
take a 3-0 lead against the No. 9-ranked team in NCAA Division I FCS, McNeese State. Tandy averaged 18.2 yards
per catch on the night.
	 Kamal Cass, Eastern New Mexico University, picked up right where he left off last season, and posted the
eighth 100-yard game of his career. He carried the ball 24 times in the Greyhounds’ season opener at Southwest
Baptist and finished with two touchdowns and a Lone Star Conference-high 149 yards.
Brandon Infiesto, UT Permian Basin, Infiesto led the Falcons with 102 yards on 16 carries in a 27-6 victory over
Sul Ross. The freshman running back averaged 6.4 yards per carry and score the team’s first ever touchdown
on a one yard score.
	 Devon Paye, West Texas A&M University, paced the Buffs with 62 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries in
the season opener at Azusa Pacific. Paye scored his fifth career rushing touchdown for the Buffs in the game
and sixth overall score.
	 Statron Jones, Midwestern State University, caught a career-best nine passes for 120 yards in a 31-19 season
opening win over Truman State Saturday night at Stokes Stadium in Kirksville. It was his fourth career 100-yard
receiving performance as he moved into seventh place on MSU’s career receiving yardage list with 1,372. Jones
also leaped into ninth on the school’s all-time receptions list with 96.
	 Andrew Hernandez, Oklahoma Panhandle State, put in a great performance against last year’s FCS
semifinalists, Sam Houston State. Hernandez scored one touchdown in each half including a 69-yard reception
in the final minute of the first half that pulled the Aggies within seven point of the No. 2 team in the nation. On
the Aggies’ second drive of the fourth quarter, Hernandez caught a pass from the backup QB for a 35-yard TD
on the opening play of the series. He accounted for one-third of the Aggies’ total offensive yards (366) in the

	 Daelin Young, West Texas A&M University, paced
the Buffs with 10 total tackles, including nine solo
stops and three tackles for loss for seven yards and
a pass breakup in the season opener at Azusa Pacific.
Young helped lead the Buffs to holding APU to just
242 yards of total offense and just 68 passing yards.
The ten total tackles and nine solo stops are career-
highs for him in a game.
	 Cody Burtscher, Tarleton State University, the LSC’s
leading tackles returner from a year ago, picked right
up where he left off as the senior linebacker made 10
tackles against FCS No. 9 McNeese State in Saturday’s
season opener. Of his 10 stops, Burtscher made seven
tackles solo, one for a loss, and recorded two sacks
for two yards of loss.
	 Steven Stewart, Western New Mexico, did all he
could to help keep the Mustangs in the game against
San Diego. He paced the team with nine tackles, with
six coming solo and also added a tackle for loss.
	 Andraque Jones, UT Permian Basin, saved a Sul
Ross touchdown on the Lobos second drive of the
game, picking off a seven yard pass in the end zone.
He ranked fourth on the team with 6 solo tackles and
a pair of assists and had one sack for 17 yards.
	 Braedon Robinson, Texas A&M University -
Kingsville, after moving to flex linebacker in the
offseason, was a one-man wrecking crew in the 2016
season opener at UIW, tallying 4.0 tackles for losses
and 2.0 sacks... Robinson collected seven total tackles
in the 31-22 victory.
	 Desmond Blue, Eastern New Mexico University,
made seven tackles in the Greyhounds’ season
opener, along with a sack.
	 Tyler Vargas, Western New Mexico, was busy in his
first collegiate game, as the redshirt freshman punted
eight times for 302 yards, averaging 37.8 yards per
attempt. He had a long of 46, two land inside the 20
and three that resulted in a fair catch. He added one
kickoff that went the distance at 65 yards.
	 Dillon Scherer, Texas A&M University - Kingsville,
took the field for the first time in the second quarter
in his collegiate debut... the freshman signed with
a 41-yard punt that was downed at the UIW-7, the
first of two punts pinned inside the opponents 20...
Scherer nearly had a third in the fourth as Texas
A&M-Kingsville won the season opener 31-22.
	 Casey Eyman, Angelo State University, was a huge
factor for the Rams averaging 40.8 yards per punt
over nine punts including a long of 52-yards. The
junior pinned McKendree inside the 20 six times with
zero touchbacks. Three of his punts were downed
inside the 5-yard line with one resulting in a safety
on the next possession. The Long Beach native also
kicked a 25-yard field goal for ASU.
	 John Cummings, West Texas A&M University,
in his second career start and first since 2014, had
two outstanding punts for the Buffs for an average
of 52.0 yards and 104 total yards with a career-best
60-yarder landing inside the 20. The 60-yard boot got
the Buffs out of deep in their own territory. The two
punts marked his fourth and fifth career punts at WT.
D’Maujeric Tucker, Eastern New Mexico University,
D’Maujeric Tucker turned in a strong performance
for Eastern on special teams in the season opener.
He returned three kickoffs for a total of 74 yards,
which included 19 and 28-yard returns in the opening
quarter. Tucker also turned in the second best
rushing performance in the LSC, with 147 yards and
a touchdown, to finish with a LSC-leading 221 all-
purpose yards.
	 Taylor Massey, Tarleton State University, made
his collegiate debut as the primary kick returner in
Tarleton’s season opener against FCS No. 9 McNeese
State, The true freshman from Cisco returned five
kicks for 92 yards on the night for an average of 18.4
yards per return. His longest return went for 27 yards
against the Cowboys.

Eastern New Mexico	
Kamal Cass and D’Maujeric Tucker’s performance
highlighted opening week for Eastern New Mexico.
The duo combined for three touchdowns and had
the two top rushing-yardage totals in the league.
Southwest Baptist took an early 12-point lead, but
ENMU closed within two scores on a number of
occasions. Wyatt Strand ran for 70 yards, while Aaron
Johnson had 89 receiving yards. Brad Hardin paced
the Hounds with 12 tackles, while Desmond Blue
registered a sack. This week, ENMU will host Western
New Mexico University in the Lone Star Conference
opener for both teams. The event will be highlighted
by the Grand Opening of Al Whitehead Field at
Greyhound Stadium. The contest also will be the first
meeting between Eastern New Mexico and WNMU
since the 2005 season finale.
Midwestern State	
No. 14 Midwestern State won its third consecutive
season opener 31-19 over Truman State Saturday
night at Stokes Stadium in Kirksville, Mo... The
Mustangs are now 14-2 in season openers dating back
to the 2001 season... Midwestern improved to 4-1 all
time against opponents from the Great Lakes Valley
Conference with the lone loss coming to Indianapolis
in the opening round of the 2012 playoffs.. The
Mustangs improved to 20-1 against Division II non-
conference opponents during the regular season in
the Bill Maskill era extending the winning streak to 19
since falling at Nebraska-Omaha on Sept. 14, 2002...
MSU is now 38-3 in games played prior to Oct. 1 since
the start of the 2006 season... Midwestern State
overcame a deficit for the seventh consecutive dating
back to last season as Truman State held leads of 3-0
and 13-7. The Mustangs are 5-2 in those games...
Senior quarterback Quade Coward completed 24-
of-38 passes for a career-high 295 yards connecting
with 11 different receivers... It was Coward’s second
game with at least 200 passing yards in his career
and the most passing yards for an MSU quarterback
since Jake Glover went for 303 yards on 12-of-22
passing against Eastern New Mexico on Sept. 20,
2014... Senior wideout Statron Jones snared a career-
best nine catches for 120 yards to lead the receiving
corps... It was Jones’ fourth game with at least 100

Sophomore running back Vincent Johnson scored a

Oklahoma Panhandle State	
The Aggies fell 21-59 in their season-opener to the
No. 2-ranked Division I team in the nation, Sam
Houston State. Panhandle’s offense put up an
admirable performance scoring 14 points in the first
quarter on a 69-yard pass completion (S. Truelove
to A. Hernandez) and a 90-yard kickoff return (D.
Williams). Hernandez added another TD in the
second half with a 35-yard reception off the hands
of freshman QB D.J. Scott. SHSU’s defense contained
the Panhandle running game allowing their opponent
just 55 yards rushing, while the Aggies gave up 279
yards rushing and four touchdowns to the Bearkats.
The Aggies converted twice on fourth down and went
5 of 18 on third down conversions compared to Sam
Houston who we 7 of 16 on third down and 2 of 4
on fourth down conversions. Panhandle’s defense
had the game’s only interception (J. Wright) and were
credited with five pass breakups. The Aggies suffered
one sack by the Bearkat defense. Panhandle State will
travel to Arkansas this week to take on UA-Pine Bluff
of the SWAC; UAPB is another Division I matchup for
the Aggies prior to starting LSC play.
Tarleton State	
Tarleton stood toe-to-toe with the No. 9-ranked
team in NCAA Division I FCS for the first quarter
but offensive struggles ultimately hurt the Texans
in a 33-3 loss to McNeese State. The Texans will get
back to facing Division II competition this week when
Tarleton hosts Southwest Baptist on Saturday at 7
p.m. in the home opener at Memorial Stadium.
Texas A&M-Commerce	
The Texas A&M-Commerce Lions rolled to a 62-0
exhibition win over the University of Faith Glory
Eagles at Memorial Stadium on Thursday… A&M-
Commerce entered the week ranked No. 9 in the
AFCA poll and No. 18 in the D2Football.com poll…
The Lions scored on every drive of the opening
half… Running back Tristan Slaughter scored three
touchdowns… Quarterback Jared Cate completed
two touchdown passes… Kicker Kristov Martinez
made 7-of-7 PATs and field goals of 32 and 37 yards…
The Lions will take on Delta State (1-0) in Cleveland,
Miss., at 6 p.m. Saturday… This will be the seventh all-
time meeting between the Lions and the Statesmen,
with the series tied 3-3… A&M-Commerce won by
eight points in 2013 and Delta State won by seven
points in 2015.
Texas A&M-Kingsville	
The Javelinas upset Division I program Incarnate
Word in their season opener, 31-22, earning their
first win in an opening game since 2012... Myles Carr
went 23-of-28 with 313 yards and three touchdowns,
two to Jordan Thomas, who finished with 79 yards,
and one to converted tight end Chris Cooper... Luis
Lopez powered into the end zone once and Greg Pitre
collected 88 total yards on the ground... The team
proved to be clutch, converting on 7-of-13 third-down
opportunities and combined with a great defense
that tallied 5.0 sacks, 11.0 tackles for a loss and
two forced fumbles and special teams, highlighted
by punter’s Dillon Scherer’s sensational debut that
featured two punts pinned inside the 20-yard line.
UT Permian Basin	
UT Permian Basin 27, Sul Ross 6

The West Texas A&M Buffs dropped a 28-10 decision
in its season-opener at Azusa Pacific last Thursday...
WT fell to 46-59 all-time in season-openers and have
lost their last three season-openers and seven of
eight with the lone win coming in 2013 at Western
State...The loss snapped a four-game winning streak
dating back to last season and entered tied for third in
NCAA Division II in current winning streaks...WT has
lost three consecutive openers on Thursdays...APU
leads the all-time series 2-1 and will return to Canyon
next season for the season-opener to complete
the series...It was a game of missed chances as WT
out-gained APU 273-242 in total yards and 233-68
in passing yards, but three turnovers and a safety
proved costly leading to six points off the three
miscues...WT committed just four penalties for 43
yards in the game and trailed in time of possession
32:37 to 27:23...Despite that, WT was 6 of 15 on third
down, but was 2 of 4 on fourth and struggled in the
red zone going just 1 of 3...Junior Daelin Young paced

Xavier Ayers extended his reception in a game streak
to 15 straight dating back to the 2014 season. He
has caught at least four passes or more in 13 straight
games…Zachary Andrew-Worline continues to be
the model of consistency along the offensive line as
he made his 23rd straight start against San Diego…
Dominic Barry kept his tackling streak alive to 22
straight games, as ever since his sophomore season,
he has had at least one tackle in a contest…Alfonso
Wilson continued his start streak in the secondary,
having started each of the past two seasons and has
made 26 starts during his career including the San
Diego game…

    LSC FOOTBALL Eight gamesare on the schedule this week including one Lone Star Conference contest and seven non- conference games. Western New Mexico and Eastern New Mexico will open LSC play in Portales, NM. Midwestern State, Texas A&M-Kingsville and UT Permian Basin started the season with wins in non- conference action last week. LSC football teams are 3-6 overall this season. The squads are 1-2 combined versus the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Great Lakes Valley Conference and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams, which are also in NCAA Super Regional Four. LSC FOOTBALL ON ESPN3 A pair of Lone Star Conference football games are part of the 2016 Division II Football Showcase schedule and will be broadcast on ESPN3 and WatchESPN. UT Permian Basin will host West Texas A&M on September 17 in the Falcon’s first LSC football game in the program’s initial season. The league opener for both teams will kickoff at 7 p.m. from Ratliff Stadium. For a second straight season, A&M-Commerce will host a national broadcast on October 8 as the Lions wel- come Midwestern State. The game starts at 7 p.m. NCAA Division II announced 18 of the 22 regular-season football games that will be carried on ESPN3, Wat- chESPN and American Sports Network, after the division entered a three-year agreement in 2015 to deliver Division II athletics events. By comparison, only seven games were televised in each of the 2013 and 2014 seasons. PLAYERS OF THE WEEK OFFENSIVE Myles Carr, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, SR, QB, Arcadia, Calif., Arcadia Carr surpassed the 300-yard mark in the 2016 season opener, completing 23 of his 28 passes for 313 yards and three scores... Carr, who began the game 8-of-8, found Jordan Thomas twice and Chris Cooper late in the game to seal the win... he has thrown three or more TDs four times in his Javelina career and the win led the Hogs to their first season opening victory since 2012. DEFENSIVE Josh Wydermyer, Midwestern State University, SO, S, Pflugerville, Texas, Hendricks HS Wydermyer made a career-high eight tackles in his first collegiate start leading Midwestern State to a 31-19 win over Truman State Saturday night at Stokes Stadium in Kirksville, Mo. The sophomore from Pflugerville spearheaded a defensive effort that limited the Bulldogs to 255 yards of total offense and just 85 in the second half. SPECIAL TEAMS Bailey Giffen, UT Permian Basin, FR, PR/KR, Bryan, Texas, Rudder HS Giffen was perfect in his first college game, connecting on a pair of 27 and 30 yard field goals and all three of his extra point attempts. The freshman punted five times with two downed inside the 20 and a long punt of 57 yards. OTHER TOP PERFORMERS Bubba Tandy, Tarleton State University, started off his senior campaign by going for 91 yards on five receptions, including a 51-yard catch in the middle of Tarleton’s first-quarter scoring drive that saw the Texans take a 3-0 lead against the No. 9-ranked team in NCAA Division I FCS, McNeese State. Tandy averaged 18.2 yards per catch on the night. Kamal Cass, Eastern New Mexico University, picked up right where he left off last season, and posted the eighth 100-yard game of his career. He carried the ball 24 times in the Greyhounds’ season opener at Southwest Baptist and finished with two touchdowns and a Lone Star Conference-high 149 yards. Brandon Infiesto, UT Permian Basin, Infiesto led the Falcons with 102 yards on 16 carries in a 27-6 victory over Sul Ross. The freshman running back averaged 6.4 yards per carry and score the team’s first ever touchdown on a one yard score. Devon Paye, West Texas A&M University, paced the Buffs with 62 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries in the season opener at Azusa Pacific. Paye scored his fifth career rushing touchdown for the Buffs in the game and sixth overall score. Statron Jones, Midwestern State University, caught a career-best nine passes for 120 yards in a 31-19 season opening win over Truman State Saturday night at Stokes Stadium in Kirksville. It was his fourth career 100-yard receiving performance as he moved into seventh place on MSU’s career receiving yardage list with 1,372. Jones also leaped into ninth on the school’s all-time receptions list with 96. Andrew Hernandez, Oklahoma Panhandle State, put in a great performance against last year’s FCS semifinalists, Sam Houston State. Hernandez scored one touchdown in each half including a 69-yard reception in the final minute of the first half that pulled the Aggies within seven point of the No. 2 team in the nation. On the Aggies’ second drive of the fourth quarter, Hernandez caught a pass from the backup QB for a 35-yard TD on the opening play of the series.     LONE STAR CONFERENCEFOOTBALL WEEKLY RELEASE 2 game. Daelin Young, West Texas A&M University, paced the Buffs with 10 total tackles, including nine solo stops and three tackles for loss for seven yards and a pass breakup in the season opener at Azusa Pacific. Young helped lead the Buffs to holding APU to just 242 yards of total offense and just 68 passing yards. The ten total tackles and nine solo stops are career- highs for him in a game. Cody Burtscher, Tarleton State University, the LSC’s leading tackles returner from a year ago, picked right up where he left off as the senior linebacker made 10 tackles against FCS No. 9 McNeese State in Saturday’s season opener. Of his 10 stops, Burtscher made seven tackles solo, one for a loss, and recorded two sacks for two yards of loss. Steven Stewart, Western New Mexico, did all he could to help keep the Mustangs in the game against San Diego. He paced the team with nine tackles, with six coming solo and also added a tackle for loss. Andraque Jones, UT Permian Basin, saved a Sul Ross touchdown on the Lobos second drive of the game, picking off a seven yard pass in the end zone. He ranked fourth on the team with 6 solo tackles and a pair of assists and had one sack for 17 yards. Braedon Robinson, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, after moving to flex linebacker in the offseason, was a one-man wrecking crew in the 2016 season opener at UIW, tallying 4.0 tackles for losses and 2.0 sacks... Robinson collected seven total tackles in the 31-22 victory. Desmond Blue, Eastern New Mexico University, made seven tackles in the Greyhounds’ season opener, along with a sack. Tyler Vargas, Western New Mexico, was busy in his first collegiate game, as the redshirt freshman punted eight times for 302 yards, averaging 37.8 yards per attempt. He had a long of 46, two land inside the 20 and three that resulted in a fair catch. He added one kickoff that went the distance at 65 yards. Dillon Scherer, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, took the field for the first time in the second quarter in his collegiate debut... the freshman signed with a 41-yard punt that was downed at the UIW-7, the first of two punts pinned inside the opponents 20... Scherer nearly had a third in the fourth as Texas A&M-Kingsville won the season opener 31-22. Casey Eyman, Angelo State University, was a huge factor for the Rams averaging 40.8 yards per punt over nine punts including a long of 52-yards. The junior pinned McKendree inside the 20 six times with zero touchbacks. Three of his punts were downed inside the 5-yard line with one resulting in a safety on the next possession. The Long Beach native also kicked a 25-yard field goal for ASU. John Cummings, West Texas A&M University, in his second career start and first since 2014, had two outstanding punts for the Buffs for an average of 52.0 yards and 104 total yards with a career-best 60-yarder landing inside the 20. The 60-yard boot got the Buffs out of deep in their own territory. The two punts marked his fourth and fifth career punts at WT. D’Maujeric Tucker, Eastern New Mexico University, D’Maujeric Tucker turned in a strong performance for Eastern on special teams in the season opener. He returned three kickoffs for a total of 74 yards, which included 19 and 28-yard returns in the opening quarter. Tucker also turned in the second best rushing performance in the LSC, with 147 yards and a touchdown, to finish with a LSC-leading 221 all- purpose yards. Taylor Massey, Tarleton State University, made his collegiate debut as the primary kick returner in Tarleton’s season opener against FCS No. 9 McNeese State, The true freshman from Cisco returned five kicks for 92 yards on the night for an average of 18.4 yards per return. His longest return went for 27 yards against the Cowboys. The duo combined for three touchdowns and had the two top rushing-yardage totals in the league. Southwest Baptist took an early 12-point lead, but ENMU closed within two scores on a number of occasions. Wyatt Strand ran for 70 yards, while Aaron Johnson had 89 receiving yards. Brad Hardin paced the Hounds with 12 tackles, while Desmond Blue registered a sack. This week, ENMU will host Western New Mexico University in the Lone Star Conference opener for both teams. The event will be highlighted by the Grand Opening of Al Whitehead Field at Greyhound Stadium. The contest also will be the first meeting between Eastern New Mexico and WNMU since the 2005 season finale. Midwestern State No. 14 Midwestern State won its third consecutive season opener 31-19 over Truman State Saturday night at Stokes Stadium in Kirksville, Mo... The Mustangs are now 14-2 in season openers dating back to the 2001 season... Midwestern improved to 4-1 all time against opponents from the Great Lakes Valley Conference with the lone loss coming to Indianapolis in the opening round of the 2012 playoffs.. The Mustangs improved to 20-1 against Division II non- conference opponents during the regular season in the Bill Maskill era extending the winning streak to 19 since falling at Nebraska-Omaha on Sept. 14, 2002... MSU is now 38-3 in games played prior to Oct. 1 since the start of the 2006 season... Midwestern State overcame a deficit for the seventh consecutive dating back to last season as Truman State held leads of 3-0 and 13-7. The Mustangs are 5-2 in those games... Senior quarterback Quade Coward completed 24- of-38 passes for a career-high 295 yards connecting with 11 different receivers...     LONE STAR CONFERENCEFOOTBALL WEEKLY RELEASE 3 Oklahoma Panhandle State The Aggies fell 21-59 in their season-opener to the No. 2-ranked Division I team in the nation, Sam Houston State. Panhandle’s offense put up an admirable performance scoring 14 points in the first quarter on a 69-yard pass completion (S. Truelove to A. Hernandez) and a 90-yard kickoff return (D. Williams). Hernandez added another TD in the second half with a 35-yard reception off the hands of freshman QB D.J. Scott. SHSU’s defense contained the Panhandle running game allowing their opponent just 55 yards rushing, while the Aggies gave up 279 yards rushing and four touchdowns to the Bearkats. The Aggies converted twice on fourth down and went 5 of 18 on third down conversions compared to Sam Houston who we 7 of 16 on third down and 2 of 4 on fourth down conversions. Panhandle’s defense had the game’s only interception (J. Wright) and were credited with five pass breakups. The Aggies suffered one sack by the Bearkat defense. Panhandle State will travel to Arkansas this week to take on UA-Pine Bluff of the SWAC; UAPB is another Division I matchup for the Aggies prior to starting LSC play. Tarleton State Tarleton stood toe-to-toe with the No. 9-ranked team in NCAA Division I FCS for the first quarter but offensive struggles ultimately hurt the Texans in a 33-3 loss to McNeese State. The Texans will get back to facing Division II competition this week when Tarleton hosts Southwest Baptist on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the home opener at Memorial Stadium. Texas A&M-Commerce The Texas A&M-Commerce Lions rolled to a 62-0 exhibition win over the University of Faith Glory Eagles at Memorial Stadium on Thursday… A&M- Commerce entered the week ranked No. 9 in the AFCA poll and No. 18 in the D2Football.com poll… The Lions scored on every drive of the opening half… Running back Tristan Slaughter scored three touchdowns… Quarterback Jared Cate completed two touchdown passes… Kicker Kristov Martinez made 7-of-7 PATs and field goals of 32 and 37 yards… The Lions will take on Delta State (1-0) in Cleveland, Miss., at 6 p.m. Saturday… This will be the seventh all- time meeting between the Lions and the Statesmen, with the series tied 3-3… A&M-Commerce won by eight points in 2013 and Delta State won by seven points in 2015. He has caught at least four passes or more in 13 straight games…Zachary Andrew-Worline continues to be the model of consistency along the offensive line as he made his 23rd straight start against San Diego… Dominic Barry kept his tackling streak alive to 22 straight games, as ever since his sophomore season, he has had at least one tackle in a contest…Alfonso Wilson continued his start streak in the secondary, having started each of the past two seasons and has made 26 starts during his career including the San Diego game…
