Managing The Population Through Education And Birth...
When the world celebrated the 7 billionth baby s birth in Manila a few years back, we were
stepping in a society with noticeable population explosion. Those overpopulated societies which can
no longer sustain themselves invade the natural environment which belongs to wildlife and over
exploit natural resources for survival. Human beings are supposed to be responsible for the majority
of environmental problems, while overpopulationexacerbates most problems such as pollution,
deforestation, global warming, etc. Thus, to save the world from those environmental crises we
should attach more importance on the people that cause them rather than just reply on developing
technology to fix the problem its own. Managing the populationthrough education and birth
control policy is what we can do with global joint efforts. Reminding the public of our population
problem, providing an option of birth control to families and guiding the public to live
sustainably will slow down the population growth, and hopefully in the long sense reduce world s
population. Most importantly, such declining population which owns greener lifestyle creates a
benign and harmonious relationship with the planet. The UNICEF estimates that an average of
353,000 babies are born each day; this means a baby is born to the world every two seconds.
About 60 years ago, the world s population is less than a half of what it is right now. Therefore, if
the population continue to grow with this rate, the

Cultural Differences And Cultural Diversity
In this study, the data being gathered was analyzed. The data was taken from the survey tests from
81 participants. Since there were a total of 81, 47 were males representing roughly 58% of the
respondents, and the remaining over 40% were female. Those participants were drawn from various
ethnicities that would include Asian, Black American, White Caucasian, and American Indian.
According to Brunner (2005), he confirmed that subjects of any studies that would relate to cultural
differences and cultural diversitywould include those people who belonged to their ethnic origins
(p. 28). Consequently, those participants were equally drawn from different countries in the
world to participate in the study (p. 28). A majority of the respondents could speak English and
Arabic, which represented 74.39% and 75.61% of language proficiency respectively. It revealed
in the study that Korean was the least spoken language among respondents at 1.22%. In fact, the
age range that most participants fell under was between 18 and 24 years followed by 25 30 years,
which was amounting to 48.78% and 39.02% respectively.
Based on the study, when they were asked, which degree they wanted to complete at WMU, they
replied mostly to Bachelor s Degree. That was the choice for most participants representing 56.10%.
On the other hand, 1.22% of the participants did not choose any education programs offered at the
campus and opted for other specific reasons for their purpose in joining the institution.

Chemical Causes And Effects Of Falling In Love
What are the chemical causes and effects of falling in love? There are three phases of love,
which include the following; lust, attraction and attachment. Lust is a phase driven by hormones
where we end up in an experience of pure desire. Attraction is a phase where you are overcome in
new feelings. Attachment is a phase where you grow bonds and feel connected. As stated by
Science Daily, Blood flows to the pleasure center of the brain during the attraction phase, when we
feel an overwhelming attraction towards our partner. This behavior fades during the attachment
phase, when the body develops a tolerance to the pleasure stimulants, and in other words, becoming
accustomed to your partner. Endorphins and hormones vasopressin and oxytocin also submerge
the body at this point, creating an overall sense of felicity and security that are necessities to a
lasting relationship . Although getting struck by Cupid s arrow may very well take your breath
away and make your heart go pitter patter, doctors caution that certain physical responses to love
may work to our disadvantage. According to Joe Masters, a writer and blogger, The initial stages of
lust, physical attraction, eye contact, or anything that makes you intrigued about someone. In this
stage, there is a lot that can happen but we might not feel an immediate attraction to someone, and
eventually develop it over time. Or we might instantly feel a connection to someone, and develop it
from there. What happens in this

John Adams, Jr.
John Adams, Jr. was an American lawyer, author, statesman, and diplomat. He served as the second
President of the United States, the first Vice President, and as a Founding Father was a leader of
American independence from Great Britain. Adams was a political theorist in the Age of
Enlightenment who promoted republicanism and a strong central government. His innovative ideas
were frequently published. He was also a dedicated diarist and correspondent, particularly with his
wife and key advisor Abigail. He collaborated with his cousin, revolutionary leader Samuel Adams,
but he established his own prominence prior to the American Revolution. After the Boston
Massacre, despite severe local anti British sentiment, he provided a successful though unpopular
legal defense of the accused British soldiers, driven by his devotion to the right to counsel and the
of innocence ]]. As a delegate from Massachusetts to the Continental Congress, Adams played a
leading role in persuading Congress to declare independence. He assisted Thomas Jefferson in
drafting the Declaration of Independence in 1776, and was its foremost advocate in the Congress.
As a diplomat in Europe, he helped negotiate the eventual peace treaty with Great Britain, and
acquired vital governmental loans from Amsterdam bankers. Adams was the primary author of the
Massachusetts Constitution in 1780 which influenced American political theory, as did his earlier

Fashion At The Edge, By Gaby Wood
In Caroline Evans book, Fashion at the Edge, she looks at the fashions from all ages but goes most
deeply into the fashion of the 1990 s and the themes that were very apparent in that particular time.
She expands on these themes in chapters throughout her book such as Deathliness, Spectacle,
Horror and Glamour. She relates all these themes back to the influences of the 20th centuryand the
rise of the commodity obsessed culture, modernism and capitalism and the metaphorical death it
brings to our world. This essay will focus on the image of Dolly Mixture that was featured in a
fashion spread in 2000 that was written by Gaby Wood, which is found in the Deathliness
chapter. I will review Evans chapter and her analysis of the themes and idea proposed by Evans
herself and other theorists. I will use these themes and ideas to make my own predictions about the
effects these theories would have on the future of our society and our fashion here in New Zealand.
Evans starts the chapter of with exploring the idea of living dolls. She explains that these living
dolls are actually human beings, mostly women that are becoming or have become objects
through the course of modeling clothes. There are several European designers who have seen this
issue and have played on this idea in the late 1990 s, such designers like Martin Margiela,
Alexander McQueen and Hussein Chalayan. They replaced real life models with dummies, as they
called it, or by using the model to resemble a dummy by

Cleisthenes As An Opportunist
Cleisthenes was the Athenian politician setting the stage of democracy around c.520 BC and to
c.400 BC. An opportunist is defined by Oxford dictionaries as: A person who takes advantage of
opportunities as and when they arise, regardless of planning or principle . For many, this sums up
the rule of Cleisthenesas he took advantage of the anti tyrannical movement and of the power he
was given to improve the position of himself and his Alcmaeonid family. However, this essay will
argue that although Cleisthenes did take advantage of opportunities, he was ultimately very
principled in nature and was actually a reactionist. This is to say that he reacted to problems and
events that occurred and dealt with them the best he could, rather than taking advantage of the
opportunity to better himself, the elite classes or his family.
To many, Cleisthenes was simply an opportunist. One way he can be said to be opportunistic is
during his rise to power. This idea has stemmed from the ancient Greek author Herodotus, and in
parts Aristotle as well. On the whole, these are two ancient authors with semi opposing views, with
Herodotus being a stronger source for stating Cleisthenes was an opportunist. The main reason
most historians believe that Cleisthenes was an opportunist is because of the account from
Herodotus histories. The account is as follows: these two [Isagoras and Cleisthenes] were rivals
for power, and Cleisthenes, who was getting the worst of it, took the people into his

The Supreme Court Ruling On Gay Marriages
Its time for me to share my opinion and perspective regarding the Supreme Court ruling on gay
marriages. Forewarning, this post will be long because I have more than just an opinion to
express, but rather a story to tell which will enlighten anyone who chooses to read this as to what
my true perspective and opinion regarding gaymarriages. (and gay people in general as a Christian)
A few months ago I faced a difficult time in my life. I was homeless and I had nowhere to stay
with my newborn baby. To my dismay, there was no family who would have the ability to take me
in. They had helped me enough in their eyes regarding sheltering me, so I was abruptly kicked out
of my grandmothers house I was staying in and face the option to find shelter in a homeless shelter.
But let me back up a second. A couple weeks before my life made a turn for the worse, I met a
girl on Facebook who was a photographer. We collaborated together on eventually meeting up to
take pictures of my newborn, however, at that time I did not have any money because I was on
maternity leave and not working.
Looking at her beautiful work as a photographer, I knew one day I would have her take pictures of
my baby I just did not know when.
Then suddenly one day she messaged me and offered me free pictures of my newborn in exchange
of being able to build her newborn portfolio.
Thrilled at her offer, I jumped at the opportunity, literally jumping in my car the same day she made
the offer.
I drove to her apartment

Barbara Hulanicki Research Paper
A Decade of Fashion
The changes of colors and style, hand made fabrics and new styles being creating making the 1960
s the year of breaking the fashion rules, Barbara Hulanicki the fashion icon made fashion change
with her new designs. Barbara Hulanicki founder of the very popular store front Biba changed the
fashion game when she created clothing for the young generation that she herself could not wear.
Her aunt was not ok with her wearing certain styles so once she got the chance to choose her own
fashion she went with it. Barbara is the best 1960 s fashion designer because she changed fashion
with her youthful urban designed filled clothing ,and is so inspiring for not holding back her style
,and bringing new things to the table.
In the 1960 s fashion changed, the colors changed, the fabric changed, and the style in clothing

After the war everyone seemed dreary and sad,so she wanted to make brighter colors for
clothing to bring some happiness back. Hulanicki clothing were cute and modern and made for
everyone not just upper class. The clothing that she made was really in style and affordable, so
not just upper class could be wearing these trendy clothes but lower classes were able to afford
this clothing too, which showed that even if you don t have lots of money you are still as good
as rich people. Barbara started losing control of Biba when she sold part of it and eventually closed
the biba empire. When Biba closed in 1976,Barbara decided to work for fiorucci and cacharel
and from 1980 1992 she made a children s wear line called minirock. Once Biba closed her
fashion career did not end there, she ended up making another line of clothing for children. Her
style of clothing did not exclude anyone, she made styles for young girls, kids and even some

The Argument Against Human Experimentation
For the debate, my side was the Opposition, which means that I am against human
experimentation. I think it is wrong because there are people who have died and suffered through
torture. My evidence consists of electroshock therapy on kids, the CIA drugging citizens, and
Japanese research. In the 1960s, Dr. Lauretta Bender began what she believed to be a
revolutionary cure for children with social issues electroshock therapy. Bender s methods included
interviewing and analyzing a sensitive child in front of a large group, then applying a gentle
amount of pressure to the child s head. Supposedly, any child who moved with the pressure was
showing early signs of schizophrenia. Bender was said to be unsympathetic to the children in...

Unit 731 was responsible for some of the most atrocious war crimes in history. Chinese and
Russian subjects men, women, children, infants, the elderly, and pregnant women were subjects
for experiments which included the removing organs from a live body, amputation for the study
of blood loss, disease resistance, and some prisoners had parts of their bodies frozen and thawed.
Humans were also used as living test cases for grenades and flamethrowers. As the Affirmative
would say that human experimentation is good because it has resulted in saving people s lives, and
medical research, but some experiments are just unnecessary! Just because a child might be shy or
have social problems, does not mean that there is any right to electrocute them! Or drugging
innocent citizens or CIA personnel without volunteering to see what effects will happen! And have
it last for 20 years! The Opposition does not agree with human experimentation. I think it is wrong
because there are people who have died and suffered through torture. As the traumatizing evidence
has said, people have been killed, or disfigured through these experiments! Luckily, due to
technology we don t have human experimentation

Cultural Differences and Global Marketing
Cultural differences and global marketingCultural differences and global marketing
The progress of humanity and human beings can be attributed to one important factor and that is
the strong capability of human beings to understand and adapt to cultural differences. Respecting
cultural differences has brought the human beings close together and has tied them in a strong
bond. The conquering of the cultural differences has also introduced us to a new terminology,
global economy, which is a global system of production, distribution and consumption. The world
has become a singular unit because the pace of economic development has accelerated due to an
increase in marketing not only at a local level, but also at a global level. Global ... Show more

The advertising laws and laws of promotional activities differ from country to country. The qualities
of products admissible in one state may differ from what is permissible in some other state. Thus,
the types of promotion are influenced by cultural differences. Apart from the legal factors, cultural
and technical factors also influence the promotional activities. The demographic and geographic
differences in the newspapers and television coverage and the association and link with the Internet
also play an important role in the regulation of the promotion package. Consumer goods cannot opt
for global standardized options, but the industrial products can select the best marketing strategy to
cross the barriers of legal, technical and cultural issues and choose a standardized global option.
The distribution of goods, the fourth global marketing mix factor, is also dependent on the cultural
differences. The distribution of consumer goods is affected by the wholesaling and retailing
systems whereas the distribution of other products is influenced by the transport and logistical
systems. The transport systems, logistical systems, wholesale systems and retail systems differ
across the European countries because of legal issues. The cultural differences in these systems
across the world have a direct impact on the distribution of products. For example, in some
countries a wide range of products can be sold in the retailing outlets while in other

The aim of this review is to introduce graphene as potential material in manufacturing electronic
devices. In this review, graphene properties, structure, forms of formations, productions techniques
are discussed briefly below. The advantages and drawbacks of the applications of graphene based
materials are being addressed briefly in this review. In general, graphene has emerged becoming one
of the most valuable innovation material in various fields in the meantime offers new insights of
new quantum physics that continue to amaze the public.
Forms of graphene
Graphene can exist in many forms such as bilayers, nanostripes, graphite oxides, ligand complex,
fibre or 3D. ( figure 1) Generally speaking, graphene exists as a flat monolayer of the carbon atom
that tightly packed together which form a two dimensional honeycomb lattices. The thin layer
honeycomb shaped graphene can be wrapped up or rolled up into 1D nanotubes or stacked into
3D graphite. ( Geim Novoselov 2012).A different form of graphene has various type of function.
For example, graphene bilayers were applied widely in manufacturing zero gap semiconductor.
Theoretically speaking, by decreasing the thickness of the graphene will lead to decreased melting
point and instability of the structure ( Geim Novoselov 2012). Yan et al. (2011) also demonstrated
that bilayer graphene was more

Analysis Of The Movie Remember The Titans
Movie project
Remember the titans was a movie that was released on September 23, 2000. The movie was
directed by Boaz Yakin. The movie includes famous stars such as Denzel Washington as Coach
Herman Boone, Will Patton as Coach Bill Yoast, and Wood Harris as Julius `Big Ju . The movie
takes place in Alexandria, Virginia. The schools in Alexandria were segregated based on race. It
was in 1971 when the school board forced the people to combine the white schools and the black
schools in to one called T.C. Williams High School. Coach Boon (Denzel Washington) who
came from North Carolina was put as a head coach by the school board which made the former
coach and the white player unhappy because of his skin color. Boone offered Yoast a defensive
coordinator position which he refused first but then was forced to accept the offer when the white
player and their families pledged to boycott the school if he don t participate. Herman was seen as
savior from discrimination and segregation by the African American people. Coach Herman took
the team to a football camp to prepare them for the season. Coach Herman Boone forced the players
to sit and room together because he wanted the black and the white players to learn to respect
each other and embrace their difference. The African Americans and white players were regularly
fighting and arguing for instance captain Gerry Bertier (Ryan Hurst) and Julius Campbell (Wood

Cheaper By Dozen Analysis
The cliche is that students nationwide will settle in and be assigned a What did you do on
summer vacation? essay on their first day back. I have never been asked to write, nor asked
anyone to write, such a letter, but it remains a staple of shows and cartoons. It has been used in
movies and television as a conceit to begin a narration, leading to an extended flashback that
contains the main story. At times, the reader (the teacher) doesn t believe the tale, while other times
he or she is flabbergasted that so much has happened to a young child, during the innocence of
summer.
That innocence is childhood, and it is summer. As adults, we lose it (except for teachers). At
contract time, I wonder if the ire teachers receive AND THEY HAVE SUMMERS OFF!!! is as
much a longing for that childlike innocence of youth as an issue of pay? Probably not.
We are at war with idle. We are a nation of efficiency, our legacy of the industrial revolution. Ford.

What is life? Toil? I hope not. An epic. Again, I hope not; too exhausting for me. So then what?
That s the question for your students. A major league scout will not show up at the Little League
game and offer a contract. So what is life? And how do we achieve our hopes and dreams?
And what do we do with our idle time? Enjoy it?
And, if life is neither Idyll or Epic, why do books and movies and stories portray it as such? What
is the purpose of life? What, you ask, are their favorite stories and why?
Now that s how you start the year; not with a reflection, but with hopes and dreams. Discuss.

African, Medieval Kingdom Of Mali, Questions And Answers
1. Were you surprised by anything you read in the sources on the African, medieval kingdom of
Mali? I was surprised by how big the Mali Empire was, and how many people lived in the land
(roughly size of western Europe, 50 million people). I was also surprised by how rich Mansa Musa
was so rich that 500 slaves could go before him caring golden staffs that were four pounds!
2. As the people of medical West Africadid not generally record information through their own
written language, how do you think historians know so much about Mali? A lot of the information
known about the Mali Empire probably came from foreigners that visited a few of over 400 cities
in the Mali Empire. Since Mansa Musa built large scale projects, like palaces in Timbuktu and
Gao, architectural scholars and enthusiasts most likely visited them, and left detailed records.
Simerly, Musa also promoted education, as he built a university. Because of this, foreigners would
have come to the Mali Empire to study. During their stay, the students would also have written
about the empire. Finally, traders would have also have helped historians learn about the Mali
Empire. By recording what items were traded, and how much of each item was traded, historians
would know about the wealth of Mali. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and fortifies it. With the security the region has, the people start to flourish, and arts, learning and

new farming techniques were discovered and people could start to specialize in jobs other than
farming. Also Venice, Marco Polo s hometown, was established, and also flourished, because of

As the company built societies outside of the company it is a good advantage fort hem, becayse

For Media Markt Leasing means that resources can be used by the business while they are being

Media Markt using Venture Capitalists:
These are professionals that invest a upcoming new business such as Media Markt in which they

nothing to climb to the top of the hierarchy. He s had a taste of power and now, he s ready for
more. Francis Coppola s The Godfather is a film about the importance of family in the midst of
mafia involvement, it s about the relationship between father and son, power, and what it takes to
achieve it. However, what the films reveals is that everyone s view of power is different and that it

Sustainability Or Sustainable Development And...
The essay topic I will be looking into in detail is Sustainability has become central to modern life
and often causes controversy. Choose an artefact that could be defined as sustainable and analyse
it, considering its functional, ethical and aesthetic characteristics . The reason for choosing this
topic is to consider the damaged done to the environment, ecosystem and wildlife to do what we
as the public wants in our daily life. The research will explore new ways of manufacturing,
producing energy and reducing the carbon prints of sourcing out materials as well the recycling
processes of the product. Including the ethical, moral and social aspect of the processes and

The major difference between sustainability and sustainable design is the ability of a designer to
design a product to be classified as a sustainable design and which also complies with the rules that
guide the environmental, economic and social impact of the product.
If we are to deal effectively with the many contemporary issues of environmental degradation and
social inequality of the resources and benefits of society, we are going to have to rethink our
notions of our materialism culture, especially in the economically developed countries. The power
to change the way we design, manufacture our products, recycle and market it falls on the
designers. Potentially, designers can make a significant contribution to this undertake by
developing possible solutions that challenge precedents and demonstrate alternative possibilities.
But to achieve this according to Stuart walker we will need to change design education and design
practice and develop new understandings of product aesthetics and our notions of what can be
called a good design.
Stuart Walker went on to say, depending on whether we like it or not, within the discipline of
industrial or product design industry, there is a major emphasis on product appearance, in both
professional practice and design education, and it is this engrossment that, in many ways, renders
Products aesthetics hollow and superficial.
A designed product that gave the perfect response to this

Compared To The Ten Commandments
The Ten Commandments explains how we should live our lives to return to Heaven. The entire
document explains why God is mad at the people and what they should do to be better. 8Once he
is done stating what the commandments are to Moses, Moses then goes to declare this to the
people and that they should not fear God. The document then goes to say that the people should
not make images or statues of gold and silver. The people should make Him, or God, an altar to
make peace offerings, but it is to be made of whole stone (Joshua 8: 30, 31). The sacrifices of
sheep and oxen are to be the first born and unblemished; natural. On the last verse it is saying
that God said he wanted not stairs to the altar, but more of a ramp so that their nakedness be not
discovered . Maat was a Goddess for justice and truth, for the people of high and low Egypt.
Throughout the beginning of the document it proclaims who Maat is and how she ruled. It shows
what kind of person she was by these rules. She ruled with a heart of peace and kindness, hoping for
innocence and harmony. Maat did have some laws that were repeated, although they had something
to add. Compared to the Ten CommandmentsMaat s laws was more of a society law to a way of life
and how to live. The laws of Maat are for justice and truth and to live in peace.

Is The Meaning Of The Song Romeo And Juliet By Taylor Swift
Romeo and Juliet Love Story by Taylor Swift. In the song Love Story if you actually read the
words you can understand the meaning of the lyrics. It s not just about Taylor s same old
problem with her ex boyfriend, this song was made to be based on this play. Romeo and Juliet is
about 2 paramours fighting for a love so strong. As for the play, if you actually think about what
they re saying the story comes to life. The lyrics We were both young when I first saw you
explains that Romeo and Juliet were actually pretty young when they first saw each other. I
sneak out to the garden to see you, we keep quiet cause we re dead if they knew.. This explains
that in Scene 2 of this Act, act 2. Juliet is on her balcony talking to herself about how amazing
Romeo is, while Romeo sneaks in to see her. They keep quiet because Romeo is a Capulet while
Juliet is a Montague, and if either side found out about them, it would be bad news especially if
Juliet s kinsman found out he was in the Capulets yard. In the song the lyrics go, This love is
difficult, but it s real. explains the many obstacles they had to overcome. While almost everyone

We Found Love is one of the most catchy songs for this play. This song would fit in perfectly at
the beginning of the story in Act 1 Scene 5. Romeo and Juliet fell in love with each other, but
with being a Capulet and being a Montague, they fell in love in a hopeless place which kind of
reflects on or mirrors the lyrics, We found love in a hopeless place. They had to keep their love a
secret since Juliet is a Capulet and Romeo is a Montague. It makes sense because the Montagues
are not friends with the Capulets and want nothing to do with each other. Yellow Diamonds in the
light, we were standing side by side, as your shadow crosses mine, what it takes to come alive.

Cocaine verus Crack Cocaine
Cocaine originated from South America, from coca leaves. Originally, the coca leaves were
chewed by workers to decrease fatigue, improve endurance and have a greater resistance to the
cold. This was to benefit the workers so they could work longer hours and be more productive. In
1855 the active ingredient in cocainewas isolated from the leaves, and in 1880 it was used as a local
anesthetic (Nunes,2006). It was also used in coca cola. In 1855, coca cola was a soda beverage
that contained sixty milligrams of cocaine for every eight ounces of the beverage. The idea
behind this was to give people energy and a sense of well being (Nunes, 2006). By the late 1880s

The third method is intraperitoneal which is in the stomach. Lastly, there is intravenous which is
into the veins. Intravenous injection results in intense affects within 30 seconds of the injection
(Volkow, 2013). This method is thought to be most common when thinking of heavy drug users
because of the fast results. The next route of administration for cocaine is intranasal. This is
where cocaine is snorted or sniffed up the nose. This is the most common way that cocaine is
administered. Intranasal routes require ten to fifteen minutes for the desired effect of cocaine to
begin. The last method is inhalation. This is where cocaine is smoked. The effect of inhaling
cocaine is felt almost immediately; however, the effects do not last more than five to fifteen
minutes (Volkow, 2013). This method is less likely with cocaine since it is the only way for
crack to be administered. Cocaine is readily absorbed after oral and intranasal administration, but
the onset of drug action is slower and the peak effect is takes longer period of time to be reached
than with other routes of administration. Cocaine is processed rapidly with most of its effects

is eliminated through the urine and is detectible up to two to three days after administration. The
route of administration is chosen by the user, and is addictive from whichever route is chosen. They

Washing A Car Analysis
Every Sunday morning until the weather drops below freezing and my parents do not let me

requires a distinctive technique. No matter how tired I am, every Sunday morning I wake up,
brush my teeth, put on my blue sweatpants and red sweatshirt, grab the keys to the car, and head
out into the driveway. Not even the puppy follows me outside; he likes to sleep till eleven o
clock on Sundays. I pull the car out into the driveway and position it just right so that the morning
sun is blocked by the thick leaves and branches of the tall maple, and so I can easily walk around
the back end. I then attach the longest hose I can find in the basement of my house

A leading airline group with effective security systems and culture .
Qantas requires an organisational culture of behaviours that support its security vision, policies
and procedures. With direction from the Board, the airline has embarked on a journey to identify
its current security culture and develop a method to assess and improve the culture going forward.
There is little evidence to suggest that this has been accomplished elsewhere, particularly within
aviation, and the findings will play a key role in Qantas ability to influence regulators. The focus
for this project is on the Australian market and the 65% domestic market share, however there is
evidence to suggest that considerations will also need to be made in the new and growing Asian
markets.
Qantas engaged PwC to assist them with this project. PwC consulted some 332 Qantas employees
including Executives to understand the desired future state for security culture, and a cross section
of Middle Management and the Frontline to establish the current state. Findings from Executive
conversations were largely consistent with what emerged as ideas for change from the Middle
Management and Frontline levels. Overarching themes encompassed the need for greater
engagement including collaboration and a clearer understanding as to how security culture fits into
the broader culture, specifically how security supports safety and is aligned to the brand values and
desired organisational behaviours. PwC also engaged an

Q: Was the decision to attract ultra HNI customers through a separate dedicated branch a good idea?
A: HNI customers have requirement of privacy, personalised services, and exclusive banking
facilities. The following reasons highlight the need for separate dedicated branch:
It was in keeping with SBI s motto of being the Banker to every Indian . An ultra HNI expects best
and instant service, e.g. banking round the clock. SBI could not have provided the same services at
a branch where non HNI customers also had their accounts, as this would alienate them.

Employee Selection:
Employees were selected on the basis of their location, keenness, past track records and their ability
to perform. This ensured deliverable, exclusive and round the clock banking services feasible.
Training of staff in Financial Planning and Advisory services was not necessary as Customers
would listen to their own advisors first and then to the new SBI managers. Yet, specialized training
was provided to the Employees in Negotiation skills, Product knowledge and etiquette.
Q: Assume that SBI had a strong intention to roll out Kohinoor style branches, how should it have
approached piloting the concept? What should be aim of such tests?
A: The aim of Kohinoor special branches is to attract Ultra High Net worth Individuals (UHNIs)
in a sustainable manner catering to their specific needs. This pilot project will enable to develop a
competitive as well as profitable model for future rollout in cities where UHNI population is high.
The Framework calls for positioning the banking products and services based on the customer s
need to privacy, personalised services, exclusive banking facilities and even other features that
went beyond banking. Following are the ways by which SBI could roll out Kohinoor style Branches:

A Look into Germany s Economy
When looking at a map of Europe and asked to identify a country with one of the best economically
sound counties, many people would say Germany. According to the UK German connection
Voyage, Germanyis a republic with a parliamentary democracy and a bicameral system of
government. The Federal Government consists of the Chancellor and his or her ministers who
are drawn from the members of the Bundestag. The ministers usually belong to the parties who
form the ruling coalition. Germany is also said to have the largest national economy in Europe.
Germany s economy is also the fourth largest by nominal GDP in the world (EW World
Economy Team). As stated by the website German Culture, Germany s economy is labeled as a
Social Market Economy otherwise known in German as the soziale Marktwirtschaft. For years
Germany has been seen as one of the leaders of economy in Europe and around the world, but
that doesn t always mean the country is stable. Germany has a long and treacherous history of
being labeled unstable. . From the time Hitler dominated Germany in 1933 to the time of the
Berlin Wall in 1961 Germany has struggled in the past with their own people and their economy.
However, if a person would look at Germany s economy today they would find a very different
picture. According to Make it in Germany, Germany has been a stable democracy for the past

Analysis Of The Movie House
When I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house, I had only
two things on my mind: Paul Newman and a ride home. Everything in my life had been
improving! Darry and I rarely fought, instead of tension, there was a connection. Even though he
never said it, I could tell he felt it too. I was still thinking about Johnny a ton (it had been 7
weeks since he had died), but I had accepted that he wasn t with us physically. I kept him in my
heart, and instead of grieving, I remembered all of our fun times together. Moving on, school
was better than ever. After I turned in my essay, it made its way up to the school board. They sent a
copy home with each kid, so the parents would know what really happened. The truth was
revealed, and I made some good buddies, who didn t care if I was a Greaser, or a Soc, or a middle
man. My grades were back to straight A s and Darry was as proud as can be. I had to quit track, in
order to make time for football. I m was and still am the starting running back on my high school

Codiification And Codification Of English
Codification and Standardization of English
English was one of many languages spoken in Britain for four hundred years before it began to
be called English. It was a language with no special status and without a special strong identity. In
fact, the history of English started with the arrival of Anglo Saxons in Britain in the 400s when
Celtic languages were spoken by the inhabitants of the island. English shows some traces of Celtic,
rising from the merge of dialects brought by the Germanic invaders. And after the Norman conquest
of 1066, English spelling and vocabulary was affected by French and Latin, especially when French
becomes the official language of England. But in the period of renaissance, Shakespeare and the
Elizabeth era, the role of the church, of French and Latin turn down and English becomes the
language of government and science. And when the first official government documents were

Struggling With Sexual Identity
Everyone knows celebrities Ellen DeGeneres, Neil Patrick Harris, Jane Lynch or Queen Latifah.
They are funny are they not? Most people love watching movies and programs that they are in;
however, not many people know they are all homosexual. Yet why do labels only go to non
celebrities? Why are non celebrities treated any differently than famous homosexuals? They are all
the same and deserve the same respect as those who are not homosexual. We are all equal
regardless of our sexual orientation. People should not be labeled as homosexual or heterosexual
because it is a personal issue and should not be used to judge an individual s character, morals, or
integrity.
Social attitudes toward homosexuals have both negative and positive perceptions. Using the
category labels homosexual and heterosexual, researchers found that heterosexual male and female
participants had more negative implicit attitudes toward homosexuals relative to heterosexual
(Breen). Participants have completed an Implicit Association Test (IAT) which is gay men vs.
straight men which is made up of good words and bad words (Breen). In regards to positive
attitudes, many things have changed over time and a rise in positive attitudes toward homosexuals
has grown (Breen). The right of gay men and lesbians to marry, one might believe that, on average,

Uses of Hypnotherapy to treat a medical condition

The purpose of this essay is to describe and explain the uses of hypnotherapy in the treatment of
a medical condition. For this essay I have chosen to look at a chronic life limiting illness called
Motor Neurone Disease. This is a disease that can affect many different aspects of a person s life
and is very aggressive in its symptoms. I have met quite a few people with this condition whilst
working in the Neurophysiology department at the QMC, where all the nerve and muscles studies

around them. I found this research both upsetting and informative.

Progressive muscular atrophy is a much less common form of MND and tends to progress more
slowly than ALS. People with PMA do not experience musclespasms and they can then go onto
develop ALS.
Progressive bulbar palsy is a form of MND that mainly affects the muscles in the throat, tongue and
face that causes difficulties with speech, swallowing, coughing and clearing the throat. PBP can
also affect the expression of emotions and people might laugh or cry for no apparent reason.
Primary lateral sclerosis is a very rare form of MND in which people experience spasticity but do
not experience muscle wasting or fasciculation s.
Unfortunately none of the above can be diagnosed with one specific hospital test and doctors
will usually recommend a series of tests and investigations which can take a long time and can
cause the person worry and upset thereby causing a knock on effect of depression and anxiety,
these tests are very important however to be able to get the correct diagnosis as all the
symptoms described can also be the pre cursor to many other illnesses and to be diagnosed with
this terrible disease in error would be awful. I think the saddest part of the disease is that although
it will affect almost every part of the person s everyday life and will stop them eventually
performing the most simple of tasks such as personal hygiene and eating it does not affect the mind

The Sandwitch Factory
The Sandwich Factory
A) The short story The Sandwich Factory is written by Jason Kennedy and deals with a man s
experiences doing a low paid job at a sandwich factory. It tells the story of how the man needs to
be able to deal with a lot of things about himself and other people, to do the work and concentrate
about it. We get a very good insight into his situation, but it is very much marked by his personal
thoughts about it, and therefore it becomes more or less useless for us to relate to. It is very
obvious that this man doesn t like his job, and we even get the feeling that he doesn t like his life
either.
To begin with the story takes place in the sandwich factory, where he works. He introduces us to
some of the people he works ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The manager, however, seems to think that he knows how everybody thinks, as he believes that the
employees don t like to be shunted around. It is obvious that he hasn t tried it himself. The text
gives an insight into how the managers think, and it can therefore be connected with the narrator s
thoughts in the short story. Picture 2, a still from Modern Times by Charlie Chaplin is a very
interesting picture in this situation, as it represents society s thoughts about the huge mass
productions that suddenly overwhelmed the world. The film makes fun of the massive factory
production that not only made a lot of people unemployed, but also made the world go mad. It can
relate to the short story because of the way it uses irony to deal with a huge problem.
B) The statement: a figure of speech is an expression or comparison that relies not on its literal

Dickens seems to be using it a lot, and the text is actually very much marked by figures of
speeches. As an example there is a comparison between the color of the town and the face of a
savage: [...] it was a town of unnatural red and black like the painted face of a savage. (ll. 2 3) and
as another example we have the comparison between the steam engine and an elephant: [...] the

Family And Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
Family and Medical Leave Act can be costly for employers. When Congress formulated the FMLA
law, what was not forseen was the open door to abuse by irresponsible employees and the detriment
imposed on the healthcare and public service sectors. According to a study by the Employment
Policy foundation, a Washington, D.C. research group, FMLA cost employers over $21 billion
dollars in 2004. This represents the most current statistical information available.
What does FMLA abuse look like from the employers perspective? One study indicates there are
five basic ways that employees are tempted to, and do abuse their FMLA leaves. Employees that
are presumably on leave to take care of their own personal serious heath conditions are doing
some or all of the following: working a second job, running errands/going shopping, engaging in
recreational activities, taking short get away trips, engaging in manual labor activities when
limitations have been claimed. When FMLA is tied to the care of a family member with a serious
illness or injury, the employee has opted not to take care of the family member during a certified

Sam Cooke, A Change is Gonna Come
Heralded by many as the anthem to the Civil Rights Movement, A Change is Gonna Come by
Sam Cooke was and still is one of the most influential songs of all time. The song was originally
released in 1964 on the album Ain t That Good News , but was released again as a single eleven
days after Sam Cooke s untimely death on the 11th of December, 1964.
There is no other social movement so effected by pop culture in the last century than the black
Civil Rights Movement in America during the 1960s. The music at the time had political
motivation and yet it was still enjoyed widely as pop music. Sam Cooke was one of the few
African American artists of his generation to successfully crossover and reach both a white and
black audience. In the midst of the Civil Rights Movement, Cooke was wary to ... Show more

He sings; I go to the movie and I go down town/Somebody keep telling me don t hang around ,
referring, of course, to the incident in the Louisiana. This lyric, while seeming innocuous, spoke
to all of his coloured fans as it was a situation they were all to familiar with. The middle eight,
which reads; Then I go to my brother / And I say, Brother, help me please. / But he winds up
knockin me / Back down on my knees. , is a phrase highlighting the aggression the movement
received from the police force during their marches. The very people meant to protect and serve
ended up being one of the biggest obstacles to overcome during the notorious peace walks.
Despite the air of anguish throughout, it is a song of hope. The famed lyrics; It s been a long, a
long time coming / But I know a change gon come , that appear at the end of every verse, are the
bones on which the whole song is built. Even after Cooke s death, this message remained one of
positivity and aspiration. His epitaph became a crutch for the movement to lean on instead of
another reminder of all they have

Larkspur Middle School Research Paper
Do you remember the pep rallies from sixth grade? Remember how we sixth graders could not
wait until seventh grade to sit on the bleachers instead of the gym floor? Back in 2013, Larkspur
Middle School got rid of pep rallies since it was a safety hazard to have too many people in the
gym at the same time. Instead, they replaced pep rallies with spirit parades, so teams parade
around the school for about fifteen minutes and basically back up the whole school day. I think
the best way to bring school spirit back at Larkspur is to get rid of spirit parades, bring pep
rallies back, and hold them outside. First of all, spirit parades take too long and the hallway gets
crowded quickly. When all the classes were lined up along the lockers, it always got hot so fast.
We had to stand up for about fifteen minutes while being squished together. For example, it took
a while for it to start, and it only lasted for about five minutes. Spirit parades effected teachers,
too. These parades cut into valuable class time. Plus, teachers had to wait for their students who
were in the parade to come back. Spirit parades were probably worst for elective teachers and eight
grade students and teachers. First elective classes like academic support,... Show more content on

The main reason why Larkspur had to get rid of pep rallies was because the gym was too
packed. There were not enough seats in the gym, so sixth graders had to sit on the floor, while
seventh and eighth graders had to sit on the bleachers. The crowdedness of the gym really had
an effect on the departure of leaving the gym. All the classes had to leave one by one through
the maze of all the students. This led to the fire department safety rule of only having a certain
number or people in one place at one time since it is a fire hazard. If a fire were to occur in the
gym, then there would only be about seven exits. These exits would not be easy to access since
the pep rallies were only on one side of the

The Character of Macbeth in William Shakespeare s Play Essay
The Character of Macbeth in William Shakespeare s Play
Macbeth
Macbeth was most likely written in 1606, early in the reign of James I, who had been James VI
of Scotland before he succeeded to the English throne in 1603. James was a patron of Shakespeare
s acting company, and of all the plays Shakespeare wrote under James s reign, Macbeth most
clearly reflects the playwright s close relationship with the sovereign. In focusing on Macbeth, a
figure from Scottish history, Shakespeare paid homage to his king s Scottish lineage. Additionally,
the witches prophecy that Banquo will found a line of kings is a clear nod to James family s claim
to have descended from the historical Banquo. In a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The conventions of a play like Macbeth are very clear, as Shakespeare presents them to the
audience throughout. For example, when Macbeth is on stage on his own he has several
monologues. These can be perceived as the character talking to the audience, as this empowers the
audience, and the reader of the play. When characters are alone on stage they gain a greater
meaning of the art form, and can relate to both the character on stage, and any political or cultural
factor involved within the play. Moments like this in the play are easy for the audience to
understand, Shakespeare clearly lays out the form for the audience throughout the play and this
helps develop the meaning.
Macbeth is a famously violent play. Interestingly, most of the killings take place offstage, but
throughout the play the characters provide the audience with gory descriptions of the carnage,
from the opening scene where the captain describes Macbeth and Banquo wading in blood on
the battlefield, to the endless references to the bloodstained hands of Macbeth and his wife. The
action is bookended by a pair of bloody battles: in the first, Macbeth defeats the invaders; in the
second, he is slain and beheaded by Macduff. In between is a series of murders: Duncan, Duncan
s chamberlains, Banquo, Lady Macduff, and Macduff s son all come to bloody ends. By the end of
the action, blood seems to be everywhere.

Examples Of Voyeurism In Rear Window
AWe re a race of Peeping Toms. People ought to get out of their homes and look at themselves.
What is the film s message about the ethics of voyeurism?
Voyeurism is originally defined as the practice of gaining sexual pleasure from watching others
when they are naked or engaged in sexual activity . However, the term is also used to describe a
general spying on, or having interest in, other people s lives. This kind of voyeurism is the central
theme for Alfred Hitchcock s mystery thriller, Rear Window(1954). The film follows the boredom
induced curiosity of photographer L.B. Jeff Jefferies. Bound to his wheelchair with a broken leg,
he has little to do with his time, and finds himself looking into and involving himself in, the lives of

After the journey ends, we are left to contemplate the morality surrounding voyeurism, and
Hitchcock s own proposal about the nature of the practice.
Voyeurism in its generic form, has long been considered unethical due to its invasive nature.
Most people would agree that spying on others is an invasion of privacy, and would look down
on those peering into other s lives. This viewpoint is expressed in the opening scene of the film
by Jefferies insurance worker, Stella. She makes her entrance stating that The New York state
sentence for a peeping tom is six months in the workhouse... . She goes on to say that his
behaviour has her smelling trouble right here in [his] apartment and mimics his hypothetical court
appearance. Lisa Freemont, Jefferies girlfriend, also comments on the issue, first when Jefferies
tells her of his suspicions of Lars Thorwald; labelling his wild opinions as diseased while
defensively giving alternate reasons for all of Jefferies questions about Thorwald. Including these
women, no character in the film, initially, encourages Jefferies voyeurism. Instead they explicitly
downplay and dismiss it. Both Stella and

IV therapy is used because it is fast acting, works effectively and if there are any side effects then
the treatment can be stopped instantly (Hopkins 1999 p13); (Mallett Dougherty 2000 p822).
During my clinical placements I have witnessed IV therapy being administered to patients who
require prescribed analgesia, antibiotics or anti emetics as well as observing patients reactions to
the treatment. IV therapy can be very effective (Hyde 2002 p42) but it also carries the greatest
risk of any administration route. Amoore Adamson (2003 p45) maintain that the safe
administration of IV therapy requires the nurse to be skilled and knowledgeable in the use of
the equipment, and to prevent any adverse incidents nurses must have up to date knowledge of
the associated risks. As a student nurse I am not considered professionally accountable and I
must work within my level of understanding and competence, under the direct supervision of a
registered nurse (NMC guide for students 2006 p4). Nurses must have the knowledge and skills
for safe and effective practice when working without direct supervision (NMC The Code 2007
p7). The Royal College of Nursing (RCN 2003 p7) states that IV therapy is a central part of a
nurse s professional practice. I realise that as a final year student I am not authorised to give IV
therapy without supervision, so as a newly registered nurse this is an ideal opportunity to learn
about IV therapy. I am using the SMART Framework to

A Brief History of France
Historical Perspective
The history of France can be divided to Gaul and Roman Conquest, the middle ages, modern time
and contemporary era. The oldest traces of human life in what is now France date from
approximately 1.8 million years ago. Between 1500 and 500 B.C. The Guals moved into the
region before it was known as France. Gaul was conquered by Rome in the second century B.C.,
which led to the Gauls adopting the Roman language and culture. France derived its modern name
from Franks a Germanic tribes that overran the country from the east around 5th century. (A Brief
History of France I)
In the 9th century, the Treaty of Verdun divided the Kingdom of Francia to three territories;
Eastern Francia, Middle Francia and Western Francia which was the precursor to modern
France. Before the monarchy was overthrown during the French revolution in 1798, France was
ruled with several noble families and was involved with the hundred years war against England,
Renaissance, reformation and seven years war along with Austria against Prussia and England.
(A Brief History of France.II) About 10 years after the revolution in 1804 Pope Pius VII crowned
Napoleon Bonaparte as emperor of the France. (Table 1) Although he waged several wars and
occupied the most of Europe allied armies conquered Paris and exile Napoleon to the island of
Elba. However, he escaped from the island and tried to get back on power but he defeated at the

The Career I Am Interested In Is Photography. I’Ve Had
The career I am interested in is Photography. I ve had an interest in photography since I was little.
I would run off with the camera or my mom or dad s phone and take pictures of anything and
everything. I may not have been the best at taking pictures but I enjoyed what I did.
The history of photography has roots in remote antiquity with the discovery of the principle of the
camera obscura and the observation that some substances are visibly altered by exposure to light.
As far as is known, nobody thought of bringing these two phenomena together to capture camera
images in permanent form until around 1800. Thomas Wedgwood made the first reliably
documented although unsuccessful attempt. In the mid 1820s, NicГ©phore NiГ©pce succeeded. ...

The Philosophy Of Aristotle s Philosophy
Within each of our existences, we as social creatures desire friendship/social interaction which
comforts us on the confusing journey we call life. I believe that through my interpretation of
Aristotle s philosophy, that we all have friends when seeing the world through Aristotle s
philosophy. Aristotle describes friendshipas being made up of mutual feelings of good intentions
between two individuals. According to him, there are 3 different types of friendships that make
up the base of social interactions. The first out of 3 types of friendships that he talks about is
Utility based friendships. These types of friendships are based on the benefits/trading that the
two individuals can gain from each other. These are most often formed by individuals with
opposite personalities. The decision making process involved in forming these types of
relationships are based on long term benefit, or time to benefit ratio. This type of relationship is
characterized as shallow, weak, and easily dissolved. The most problems occur in this type of
relationship due to the deviation in valuing one another s service. For example, Billy and Bob
are friends/roommates, Billy made a painting as a gift for Bob in exchange for paying his half of
the rent, Bob believes that while being appreciative of the painting, that it is worth less than the
price of the rent he couldn t pay and insists that Bob either starts pulling his own weight or hits the
road to find additional income and a different

Walter Williams Journalism Creed
Walter Williams, the founder of the University of Missouri s Journalism School, believed that
unless journalists were trained as professionals, they would never earn the public s trust. Journalists
needed to be held accountable professionally and personally in order for the profession to endure.
In 1914, Williams wrote the Journalists creed. The creed was an affirmation of the ethics of
journalism. Although the creed still is the clearest definition of the principles, standards, and values
of journalists, the world is changing, and that includes journalism. Thus, the Journalist s creed
needs to be updated.
Walter Williams did a brilliant job of accentuating the principles of journalism as a profession.
According to the Journalists Creed, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

fails to mention other values journalists should have. Our country has experienced social shift
since the creed was originally written, and they should be reflected in the Journalist s Creed. The

In addition, this document will highlight the importance of an effective leadership style, focusing
on the proper use of intelligence assets and the welfare of soldiers in order to accomplish the
mission during war.
The Sioux Treaty of 1868 Violation The BLB was a response to the violation of the Sioux treaty
of 1868. Both, the Sioux tribes and the U.S. Government (USG) signed a treaty in 1868,
guaranteeing the Indians ownership of the Black Hills and hunting rights (Staff, 2009). However,
General Custer led an expedition of miners into the Black Hills that discovered gold in 1874.
According to Corbin (2000), the Black Hills stretch across western South Dakota, northeast
Wyoming and southeast Montana. Indians consider the Black Hills a sacred landscape because it
is the spiritual center of the Sioux nation. The discovery of gold in the Black Hills attracted gold
hunters who crossed into Indian lands, not caring of the significance of the land. According to the
History Channel, this betrayal and breach of the treaty led many Sioux and Cheyenne tribesmen to
leave their reservations and joined Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse (Famous Sioux warrior leaders)
in Montana. By spring of 1876, more than 10,000 Native Americans gathered in a camp along the
Little Bighorn River (UNK, 2009). The USG offered to buy the Black Hills for $6

countries. Consequently, clothing reform, which was advocated by reformers in 1898, was
gradually accepted by the public and took its trend in militarization. As described by Antonia
Finnane, the militarization of public costumes as a notion of enhancing China s military power
infiltrated the nation:
In place of the long robe, male students began to don trousers and jacket,...Straw boaters or military
peaked caps replaced the traditional round cap. School uniforms were often modeled directly on
military uniforms, as was the case in Japan, and commercial suppliers of military uniform touted for
custom among students.
Furthermore, after the revolution, clothing reform took on the trend of simplification, which
stemmed from the idea of militarization. Embroideries and trimmings were replaced by plain shirts,
and bright colors on garments, especially student garbs, and were reduced to black, grey or white. A
new clothing style called Wenmingxinzhuang (civilized new clothes) was popularized among
female students. The plain blue or white shirt with wide sleeves and black skirt became the
standard uniform in many schools throughout the country. Aside from the idea of raiment s
militarization, such simplification echoed 1898 reformers idea that traditional Chinese garments
were overly complex.
Conclusion
From the time it was proposed in the late nineteenth century to its implementation in the twentieth
century, clothing reform was endowed with different meanings and potential

The Book The Outsiders By S. E. Hinton
The book outsiders by S.E Hinton is action packed and breathtaking. The theme leaves off a very
powerful message as well. The author makes me believe that one of the biggest themes would
be, money doesn t make who you are. These are the three quotes that support my decision. My
first quote is when Randy was in the car talking to Ponyboy; Greaser didn t have anything to do
with it. My buddy over there wouldn t of done it. Maybe you would have done the same thing,
maybe a friend of yours wouldn t have. It s the individual ( Hinton 115 ). The reason why I
picked this quote is because, Randy s buddy is a Soc who has a lot of money. When Randy was
saying this he meant that no matter what the social class and how much money someone had they
most likely wouldn t of done it. This means that Ponyboy was really brave and did the right thing
even though he is a greaser. Which is not very common since society has it in people s minds that
greasers are bad and don t do the right thing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

`` The Lesson `` By Tony Cade Bambara
If all your friends jumped off a bridge, would you do it too? Throughout the ages, how many
times have parents bellowed these words? Although the question is dreadfully annoying to most
children, it is designed to make them think about their individuality and the dangers of
conforming. Today, more than ever, with the use of social media, our society is under pressure
to conform. With the creation of Facebook and Twitter, our goals are to be friended, liked,
followed, and accepted. Is our nation in danger of becoming lemmings? According to an entry in
Urban Dictionary written by Aegis Kleais, a lemming is [a] derogatory term used to reference a
person who seemingly does not possess any form of individual thought and instead mindlessly
follows the behaviors and actions of the masses. Fortunately, short stories such as Tony Cade
Bambara s The Lesson (1972) and Langston Hughes Salvation (1940) remind us of both the
positive and negative effects of how an individual deals with group conformityand social pressure.
The Lesson is a story of a close knit group of children from impoverished Harlem, New York who
are taken on a field trip to learn about economic inequality. In Salvation, Hughes recalls his
experience of religion as a young child, particularly an intense religious revival. Through the use of
setting, characterization, and irony, both authors show the importance of standing up for one s self
regardless of social pressure. In each

Filipino Culture In The Philippines
The Filipino Culture

The Filipino Culture
Filipinos are the second largest Asian group in the United States. In the past data has been hard to
obtain about Filipino Americans, primarily because of inconsistences in coding race and ethnicity
in research projects. Demographics of Filipino Americans did not start being properly recorded until
the early twentieth century, when the Filipino Islands became part of the United States territory.
Even with the limited data, they have gathered enough information on the Filipino culture. Filipino
American beliefs differ drastically from that of Americans, such as their culture, health rituals and
religious practices that may make healthcare more difficult (Dela Cruz, 2010).
Studies of the Filipino American health practices show that Filipinos who reside in a rural area are
more knowledgeable in home remedies, super natural ailments, traditional healing techniques,
where those from urban areas rely more on Western Medicine and over the counter drugs. In both
settings, indigenous folk and western medicine is used simultaneously. A popular self medication
among these groups is Chinese hot/cold application system (Pasma), and Chinese oils which
sometimes perceived as a remedy to all ailments such as headaches, dizziness, relaxing, or the
common cold. If home remedies do not work, many seek a local healer who uses treatments which
includes roots and herbs.

  • 3. Managing The Population Through Education And Birth... When the world celebrated the 7 billionth baby s birth in Manila a few years back, we were stepping in a society with noticeable population explosion. Those overpopulated societies which can no longer sustain themselves invade the natural environment which belongs to wildlife and over exploit natural resources for survival. Human beings are supposed to be responsible for the majority of environmental problems, while overpopulationexacerbates most problems such as pollution, deforestation, global warming, etc. Thus, to save the world from those environmental crises we should attach more importance on the people that cause them rather than just reply on developing technology to fix the problem its own. Managing the populationthrough education and birth control policy is what we can do with global joint efforts. Reminding the public of our population problem, providing an option of birth control to families and guiding the public to live sustainably will slow down the population growth, and hopefully in the long sense reduce world s population. Most importantly, such declining population which owns greener lifestyle creates a benign and harmonious relationship with the planet. The UNICEF estimates that an average of 353,000 babies are born each day; this means a baby is born to the world every two seconds. About 60 years ago, the world s population is less than a half of what it is right now. Therefore, if the population continue to grow with this rate, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Cultural Differences And Cultural Diversity In this study, the data being gathered was analyzed. The data was taken from the survey tests from 81 participants. Since there were a total of 81, 47 were males representing roughly 58% of the respondents, and the remaining over 40% were female. Those participants were drawn from various ethnicities that would include Asian, Black American, White Caucasian, and American Indian. According to Brunner (2005), he confirmed that subjects of any studies that would relate to cultural differences and cultural diversitywould include those people who belonged to their ethnic origins (p. 28). Consequently, those participants were equally drawn from different countries in the world to participate in the study (p. 28). A majority of the respondents could speak English and Arabic, which represented 74.39% and 75.61% of language proficiency respectively. It revealed in the study that Korean was the least spoken language among respondents at 1.22%. In fact, the age range that most participants fell under was between 18 and 24 years followed by 25 30 years, which was amounting to 48.78% and 39.02% respectively. Based on the study, when they were asked, which degree they wanted to complete at WMU, they replied mostly to Bachelor s Degree. That was the choice for most participants representing 56.10%. On the other hand, 1.22% of the participants did not choose any education programs offered at the campus and opted for other specific reasons for their purpose in joining the institution. ... • 5. Chemical Causes And Effects Of Falling In Love What are the chemical causes and effects of falling in love? There are three phases of love, which include the following; lust, attraction and attachment. Lust is a phase driven by hormones where we end up in an experience of pure desire. Attraction is a phase where you are overcome in new feelings. Attachment is a phase where you grow bonds and feel connected. As stated by Science Daily, Blood flows to the pleasure center of the brain during the attraction phase, when we feel an overwhelming attraction towards our partner. This behavior fades during the attachment phase, when the body develops a tolerance to the pleasure stimulants, and in other words, becoming accustomed to your partner. Endorphins and hormones vasopressin and oxytocin also submerge the body at this point, creating an overall sense of felicity and security that are necessities to a lasting relationship . Although getting struck by Cupid s arrow may very well take your breath away and make your heart go pitter patter, doctors caution that certain physical responses to love may work to our disadvantage. According to Joe Masters, a writer and blogger, The initial stages of lust, physical attraction, eye contact, or anything that makes you intrigued about someone. In this stage, there is a lot that can happen but we might not feel an immediate attraction to someone, and eventually develop it over time. Or we might instantly feel a connection to someone, and develop it from there. What happens in this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. John Adams, Jr. John Adams, Jr. was an American lawyer, author, statesman, and diplomat. He served as the second President of the United States, the first Vice President, and as a Founding Father was a leader of American independence from Great Britain. Adams was a political theorist in the Age of Enlightenment who promoted republicanism and a strong central government. His innovative ideas were frequently published. He was also a dedicated diarist and correspondent, particularly with his wife and key advisor Abigail. He collaborated with his cousin, revolutionary leader Samuel Adams, but he established his own prominence prior to the American Revolution. After the Boston Massacre, despite severe local anti British sentiment, he provided a successful though unpopular legal defense of the accused British soldiers, driven by his devotion to the right to counsel and the of innocence ]]. As a delegate from Massachusetts to the Continental Congress, Adams played a leading role in persuading Congress to declare independence. He assisted Thomas Jefferson in drafting the Declaration of Independence in 1776, and was its foremost advocate in the Congress. As a diplomat in Europe, he helped negotiate the eventual peace treaty with Great Britain, and acquired vital governmental loans from Amsterdam bankers. Adams was the primary author of the Massachusetts Constitution in 1780 which influenced American political theory, as did his earlier Thoughts on Government. Adams credentials as a ... • 7. Fashion At The Edge, By Gaby Wood In Caroline Evans book, Fashion at the Edge, she looks at the fashions from all ages but goes most deeply into the fashion of the 1990 s and the themes that were very apparent in that particular time. She expands on these themes in chapters throughout her book such as Deathliness, Spectacle, Horror and Glamour. She relates all these themes back to the influences of the 20th centuryand the rise of the commodity obsessed culture, modernism and capitalism and the metaphorical death it brings to our world. This essay will focus on the image of Dolly Mixture that was featured in a fashion spread in 2000 that was written by Gaby Wood, which is found in the Deathliness chapter. I will review Evans chapter and her analysis of the themes and idea proposed by Evans herself and other theorists. I will use these themes and ideas to make my own predictions about the effects these theories would have on the future of our society and our fashion here in New Zealand. Evans starts the chapter of with exploring the idea of living dolls. She explains that these living dolls are actually human beings, mostly women that are becoming or have become objects through the course of modeling clothes. There are several European designers who have seen this issue and have played on this idea in the late 1990 s, such designers like Martin Margiela, Alexander McQueen and Hussein Chalayan. They replaced real life models with dummies, as they called it, or by using the model to resemble a dummy by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Cleisthenes As An Opportunist Cleisthenes was the Athenian politician setting the stage of democracy around c.520 BC and to c.400 BC. An opportunist is defined by Oxford dictionaries as: A person who takes advantage of opportunities as and when they arise, regardless of planning or principle . For many, this sums up the rule of Cleisthenesas he took advantage of the anti tyrannical movement and of the power he was given to improve the position of himself and his Alcmaeonid family. However, this essay will argue that although Cleisthenes did take advantage of opportunities, he was ultimately very principled in nature and was actually a reactionist. This is to say that he reacted to problems and events that occurred and dealt with them the best he could, rather than taking advantage of the opportunity to better himself, the elite classes or his family. To many, Cleisthenes was simply an opportunist. One way he can be said to be opportunistic is during his rise to power. This idea has stemmed from the ancient Greek author Herodotus, and in parts Aristotle as well. On the whole, these are two ancient authors with semi opposing views, with Herodotus being a stronger source for stating Cleisthenes was an opportunist. The main reason most historians believe that Cleisthenes was an opportunist is because of the account from Herodotus histories. The account is as follows: these two [Isagoras and Cleisthenes] were rivals for power, and Cleisthenes, who was getting the worst of it, took the people into his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Supreme Court Ruling On Gay Marriages Its time for me to share my opinion and perspective regarding the Supreme Court ruling on gay marriages. Forewarning, this post will be long because I have more than just an opinion to express, but rather a story to tell which will enlighten anyone who chooses to read this as to what my true perspective and opinion regarding gaymarriages. (and gay people in general as a Christian) A few months ago I faced a difficult time in my life. I was homeless and I had nowhere to stay with my newborn baby. To my dismay, there was no family who would have the ability to take me in. They had helped me enough in their eyes regarding sheltering me, so I was abruptly kicked out of my grandmothers house I was staying in and face the option to find shelter in a homeless shelter. But let me back up a second. A couple weeks before my life made a turn for the worse, I met a girl on Facebook who was a photographer. We collaborated together on eventually meeting up to take pictures of my newborn, however, at that time I did not have any money because I was on maternity leave and not working. Looking at her beautiful work as a photographer, I knew one day I would have her take pictures of my baby I just did not know when. Then suddenly one day she messaged me and offered me free pictures of my newborn in exchange of being able to build her newborn portfolio. Cultural Differences and Global Marketing Cultural differences and global marketingCultural differences and global marketing The progress of humanity and human beings can be attributed to one important factor and that is the strong capability of human beings to understand and adapt to cultural differences. Respecting cultural differences has brought the human beings close together and has tied them in a strong bond. The conquering of the cultural differences has also introduced us to a new terminology, global economy, which is a global system of production, distribution and consumption. The demographic and geographic differences in the newspapers and television coverage and the association and link with the Internet also play an important role in the regulation of the promotion package. Consumer goods cannot opt for global standardized options, but the industrial products can select the best marketing strategy to cross the barriers of legal, technical and cultural issues and choose a standardized global option. The distribution of goods, the fourth global marketing mix factor, is also dependent on the cultural differences. The distribution of consumer goods is affected by the wholesaling and retailing systems whereas the distribution of other products is influenced by the transport and logistical systems. I was also surprised by how rich Mansa Musa was so rich that 500 slaves could go before him caring golden staffs that were four pounds! 2. As the people of medical West Africadid not generally record information through their own written language, how do you think historians know so much about Mali? A lot of the information known about the Mali Empire probably came from foreigners that visited a few of over 400 cities in the Mali Empire. Since Mansa Musa built large scale projects, like palaces in Timbuktu and Gao, architectural scholars and enthusiasts most likely visited them, and left detailed records. Simerly, Musa also promoted education, as he built a university. Because of this, foreigners would have come to the Mali Empire to study. The power to change the way we design, manufacture our products, recycle and market it falls on the designers. Potentially, designers can make a significant contribution to this undertake by developing possible solutions that challenge precedents and demonstrate alternative possibilities. Germany has a long and treacherous history of being labeled unstable. . From the time Hitler dominated Germany in 1933 to the time of the Berlin Wall in 1961 Germany has struggled in the past with their own people and their economy. • 29. Analysis Of The Movie House When I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house, I had only two things on my mind: Paul Newman and a ride home. Everything in my life had been improving! Darry and I rarely fought, instead of tension, there was a connection. Even though he never said it, I could tell he felt it too. I was still thinking about Johnny a ton (it had been 7 weeks since he had died), but I had accepted that he wasn t with us physically. I kept him in my heart, and instead of grieving, I remembered all of our fun times together. Moving on, school was better than ever. After I turned in my essay, it made its way up to the school board. They sent a copy home with each kid, so the parents would know what really happened. The truth was revealed, and I made some good buddies, who didn t care if I was a Greaser, or a Soc, or a middle man. My grades were back to straight A s and Darry was as proud as can be. I had to quit track, in order to make time for football. I m was and still am the starting running back on my high school footballteam, and Darry had just quit one of his jobs, when he got offered the position of head coach. He was still fixing roofs, and coaching football at the same time. Darry was happy, he had found a way to follow his dreams. That was last month. By the end of this week, our lives had changed! Codiification And Codification Of English Codification and Standardization of English English was one of many languages spoken in Britain for four hundred years before it began to be called English. It was a language with no special status and without a special strong identity. In fact, the history of English started with the arrival of Anglo Saxons in Britain in the 400s when Celtic languages were spoken by the inhabitants of the island. English shows some traces of Celtic, rising from the merge of dialects brought by the Germanic invaders. And after the Norman conquest of 1066, English spelling and vocabulary was affected by French and Latin, especially when French becomes the official language of England. Paper On Struggling With Sexual Identity Essay Destiny Collazo Mrs. Bellettiere English 10 21 November 20 Struggling With Sexual Identity Everyone knows celebrities Ellen DeGeneres, Neil Patrick Harris, Jane Lynch or Queen Latifah. They are funny are they not? Most people love watching movies and programs that they are in; however, not many people know they are all homosexual. Yet why do labels only go to non celebrities? Why are non celebrities treated any differently than famous homosexuals? They are all the same and deserve the same respect as those who are not homosexual. We are all equal regardless of our sexual orientation. People should not be labeled as homosexual or heterosexual because it is a personal issue and should not be used to judge an individual s character, morals, or integrity. Social attitudes toward homosexuals have both negative and positive perceptions. Using the category labels homosexual and heterosexual, researchers found that heterosexual male and female participants had more negative implicit attitudes toward homosexuals relative to heterosexual (Breen). Participants have completed an Implicit Association Test (IAT) which is gay men vs. straight men which is made up of good words and bad words (Breen). In regards to positive attitudes, many things have changed over time and a rise in positive attitudes toward homosexuals has grown (Breen). Uses of Hypnotherapy to Treat a Medical Condition Uses of Hypnotherapy to treat a medical condition Introduction The purpose of this essay is to describe and explain the uses of hypnotherapy in the treatment of a medical condition. For this essay I have chosen to look at a chronic life limiting illness called Motor Neurone Disease. This is a disease that can affect many different aspects of a person s life and is very aggressive in its symptoms. I have met quite a few people with this condition whilst working in the Neurophysiology department at the QMC, where all the nerve and muscles studies and EMG s are performed. PBP can also affect the expression of emotions and people might laugh or cry for no apparent reason. Primary lateral sclerosis is a very rare form of MND in which people experience spasticity but do not experience muscle wasting or fasciculation s. It tells the story of how the man needs to be able to deal with a lot of things about himself and other people, to do the work and concentrate about it. We get a very good insight into his situation, but it is very much marked by his personal thoughts about it, and therefore it becomes more or less useless for us to relate to. Picture 2, a still from Modern Times by Charlie Chaplin is a very interesting picture in this situation, as it represents society s thoughts about the huge mass productions that suddenly overwhelmed the world. Remember how we sixth graders could not wait until seventh grade to sit on the bleachers instead of the gym floor? Back in 2013, Larkspur Middle School got rid of pep rallies since it was a safety hazard to have too many people in the gym at the same time. Instead, they replaced pep rallies with spirit parades, so teams parade around the school for about fifteen minutes and basically back up the whole school day. I think the best way to bring school spirit back at Larkspur is to get rid of spirit parades, bring pep rallies back, and hold them outside. First of all, spirit parades take too long and the hallway gets crowded quickly. When all the classes were lined up along the lockers, it always got hot so fast. We had to stand up for about fifteen minutes while being squished together. For example, it took a while for it to start, and it only lasted for about five minutes. Spirit parades effected teachers, too. These parades cut into valuable class time. Plus, teachers had to wait for their students who were in the parade to come back. Spirit parades were probably worst for elective teachers and eight grade students and teachers. First elective classes like academic support,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Character of Macbeth in William Shakespeare s Play Essay The Character of Macbeth in William Shakespeare s Play Macbeth Macbeth was most likely written in 1606, early in the reign of James I, who had been James VI of Scotland before he succeeded to the English throne in 1603. James was a patron of Shakespeare s acting company, and of all the plays Shakespeare wrote under James s reign, Macbeth most clearly reflects the playwright s close relationship with the sovereign. In focusing on Macbeth, a figure from Scottish history, Shakespeare paid homage to his king s Scottish lineage. For example, when Macbeth is on stage on his own he has several monologues. These can be perceived as the character talking to the audience, as this empowers the audience, and the reader of the play. When characters are alone on stage they gain a greater meaning of the art form, and can relate to both the character on stage, and any political or cultural factor involved within the play. Moments like this in the play are easy for the audience to understand, Shakespeare clearly lays out the form for the audience throughout the play and this helps develop the meaning. Interestingly, most of the killings take place offstage, but throughout the play the characters provide the audience with gory descriptions of the carnage, from the opening scene where the captain describes Macbeth and Banquo wading in blood on the battlefield, to the endless references to the bloodstained hands of Macbeth and his wife. The action is bookended by a pair of bloody battles: in the first, Macbeth defeats the invaders; in the second, he is slain and beheaded by Macduff. I believe that through my interpretation of Aristotle s philosophy, that we all have friends when seeing the world through Aristotle s philosophy. Aristotle describes friendshipas being made up of mutual feelings of good intentions between two individuals. According to him, there are 3 different types of friendships that make up the base of social interactions. The first out of 3 types of friendships that he talks about is Utility based friendships. These types of friendships are based on the benefits/trading that the two individuals can gain from each other. These are most often formed by individuals with opposite personalities. The decision making process involved in forming these types of relationships are based on long term benefit, or time to benefit ratio. This type of relationship is characterized as shallow, weak, and easily dissolved. The most problems occur in this type of relationship due to the deviation in valuing one another s service. Although the creed still is the clearest definition of the principles, standards, and values of journalists, the world is changing, and that includes journalism. Thus, the Journalist s creed needs to be updated. Walter Williams did a brilliant job of accentuating the principles of journalism as a profession. According to the Journalists Creed, the ... The emphasis can no loner be on who is a journalist but rather how journalism is performed. Thus, journalists have an even more important task of delivering the truth. Williams believes that journalists should be god fearing, but fails to mention other values journalists should have. Our country has experienced social shift since the creed was originally written, and they should be reflected in the Journalist s Creed. In addition, this document will highlight the importance of an effective leadership style, focusing on the proper use of intelligence assets and the welfare of soldiers in order to accomplish the mission during war. The Sioux Treaty of 1868 Violation The BLB was a response to the violation of the Sioux treaty of 1868. Both, the Sioux tribes and the U.S. Government (USG) signed a treaty in 1868, guaranteeing the Indians ownership of the Black Hills and hunting rights (Staff, 2009). However, General Custer led an expedition of miners into the Black Hills that discovered gold in 1874. According to Corbin (2000), the Black Hills stretch across western South Dakota, northeast Wyoming and southeast Montana. Indians consider the Black Hills a sacred landscape because it is the spiritual center of the Sioux nation. The discovery of gold in the Black Hills attracted gold hunters who crossed into Indian lands, not caring of the significance of the land. According to the History Channel, this betrayal and breach of the treaty led many Sioux and Cheyenne tribesmen to leave their reservations and joined Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse (Famous Sioux warrior leaders) in Montana. By spring of 1876, more than 10,000 Native Americans gathered in a camp along the Little Bighorn River (UNK, 2009). The USG offered to buy the Black Hills for $6 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. The History Of School Uniforms countries. Consequently, clothing reform, which was advocated by reformers in 1898, was gradually accepted by the public and took its trend in militarization. As described by Antonia Finnane, the militarization of public costumes as a notion of enhancing China s military power infiltrated the nation: In place of the long robe, male students began to don trousers and jacket,...Straw boaters or military peaked caps replaced the traditional round cap. School uniforms were often modeled directly on military uniforms, as was the case in Japan, and commercial suppliers of military uniform touted for custom among students. Furthermore, after the revolution, clothing reform took on the trend of simplification, which stemmed from the idea of militarization. Embroideries and trimmings were replaced by plain shirts, and bright colors on garments, especially student garbs, and were reduced to black, grey or white. A new clothing style called Wenmingxinzhuang (civilized new clothes) was popularized among female students. The plain blue or white shirt with wide sleeves and black skirt became the standard uniform in many schools throughout the country. Aside from the idea of raiment s militarization, such simplification echoed 1898 reformers idea that traditional Chinese garments were overly complex. Conclusion From the time it was proposed in the late nineteenth century to its implementation in the twentieth century, clothing reform was endowed with different meanings and potential ... • 51. The Book The Outsiders By S. E. Hinton The book outsiders by S.E Hinton is action packed and breathtaking. The theme leaves off a very powerful message as well. The author makes me believe that one of the biggest themes would be, money doesn t make who you are. These are the three quotes that support my decision. My first quote is when Randy was in the car talking to Ponyboy; Greaser didn t have anything to do with it. My buddy over there wouldn t of done it. Maybe you would have done the same thing, maybe a friend of yours wouldn t have. It s the individual ( Hinton 115 ). The reason why I picked this quote is because, Randy s buddy is a Soc who has a lot of money. When Randy was saying this he meant that no matter what the social class and how much money someone had they most likely wouldn t of done it. This means that Ponyboy was really brave and did the right thing even though he is a greaser. Which is not very common since society has it in people s minds that greasers are bad and don t do the right thing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a quote about what Ponyboy was thinking in his head. No, it wasn t cherry the soc who was helping us, it was cherry the dreamer who watched sunsets and couldn t stand fights. ( Hinton 86 ). This is why I used this quote. At that time Ponyboy wasn t classifying Cherry as a Soc but instead was thinking of her more highly and just a normal person like him. Which is unusual since in their society since Socs were higher class, but the author was trying to make it clear in this sentence that it wasn t the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 53. `` The Lesson `` By Tony Cade Bambara If all your friends jumped off a bridge, would you do it too? Throughout the ages, how many times have parents bellowed these words? Although the question is dreadfully annoying to most children, it is designed to make them think about their individuality and the dangers of conforming. Today, more than ever, with the use of social media, our society is under pressure to conform. With the creation of Facebook and Twitter, our goals are to be friended, liked, followed, and accepted. Is our nation in danger of becoming lemmings? According to an entry in Urban Dictionary written by Aegis Kleais, a lemming is [a] derogatory term used to reference a person who seemingly does not possess any form of individual thought and instead mindlessly follows the behaviors and actions of the masses. Fortunately, short stories such as Tony Cade Bambara s The Lesson (1972) and Langston Hughes Salvation (1940) remind us of both the positive and negative effects of how an individual deals with group conformityand social pressure. The Lesson is a story of a close knit group of children from impoverished Harlem, New York who are taken on a field trip to learn about economic inequality. In Salvation, Hughes recalls his experience of religion as a young child, particularly an intense religious revival. Through the use of setting, characterization, and irony, both authors show the importance of standing up for one s self regardless of social pressure. In each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Filipino Culture In The Philippines The Filipino Culture Carla Cravey, Lindsay Hill, Jeanette Gass Carl Albert State College The Filipino Culture Filipinos are the second largest Asian group in the United States. In the past data has been hard to obtain about Filipino Americans, primarily because of inconsistences in coding race and ethnicity in research projects. Demographics of Filipino Americans did not start being properly recorded until the early twentieth century, when the Filipino Islands became part of the United States territory. Even with the limited data, they have gathered enough information on the Filipino culture. Filipino American beliefs differ drastically from that of Americans, such as their culture, health rituals and religious practices that may make healthcare more difficult (Dela Cruz, 2010). Studies of the Filipino American health practices show that Filipinos who reside in a rural area are more knowledgeable in home remedies, super natural ailments, traditional healing techniques, where those from urban areas rely more on Western Medicine and over the counter drugs. In both settings, indigenous folk and western medicine is used simultaneously. A popular self medication among these groups is Chinese hot/cold application system (Pasma), and Chinese oils which sometimes perceived as a remedy to all ailments such as headaches, dizziness, relaxing, or the common cold. If home remedies do not work, many seek a local healer who uses treatments which includes roots and herbs. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
