 Castellers de Lleida founded on 16 March in 1995
 When a tower is being built, there are musicians that play the song, "Toc
de Castells." This song has different parts to indicate the different
moments.

 One of the traditional
things in Catalonia is
La Castanyada.
 It’s celebrated the
day before All Saints.
 The chestnut is the
symbol of La
Castanyada.

friends meet and
they eat roosted
chestnuts, sweet
potatoes and
‘’Panellets’’.
 Panellets are small
cakes or cookies in
different shapes,
mostly round, made
mainly of marzipan.
Caga Tió is a Christmas tradition
of Catalonia.
Caga Tió means Trunk Shit.
Its name is because children hits Caga Tió
with a stick and singing a song. And Caga
Tió shits presents.

  • 7. Landmarks: La Seu Vella  “Seu Vella” cathedral  built in 1203 AD  finished in 1286 AD

  • 24. Traditions: Castellers  “Castell”: a human tower.  “colles castelleres” (teams) often succeed in building and dismantling a tower.  Started in 1712 near Tarragona  Ten-story high castles.  Described by number of people in each level and the total number of levels.

Traditions: Castellers de Lleida  Motto of Castellers: strength, balance, courage and common sense.  Castellers de Lleida founded on 16 March in 1995  When a tower is being built, there are musicians that play the song, "Toc de Castells." This song has different parts to indicate the different moments.
  • 26. Traditions: La Castanyada  One of the traditional things in Catalonia is La Castanyada.  It’s celebrated the day before All Saints.  The chestnut is the symbol of La Castanyada.
  • 27. Traditions: La Castanyada  On La Castanyada friends meet and they eat roosted chestnuts, sweet potatoes and ‘’Panellets’’.  Panellets are small cakes or cookies in different shapes, mostly round, made mainly of marzipan.
  • 28. Caga Tió is a Christmas tradition of Catalonia. Caga Tió means Trunk Shit. Its name is because children hits Caga Tió with a stick and singing a song. And Caga Tió shits presents.
  • 29. Traditions: Sant Jordi  A very popular tradition.  Celebrated on the 23rd of April.  It comes from a legend  St George killed a dragon.

  • 31. Traditions: Fira de titelles  The first weekend in May, the Puppet Centre organizes a fair.  The streets are filled with people that want to see the puppets.
