This document discusses trends in library and information science (LIS) research between 2017-2021. It analyzes research types and methodologies based on searches of three LIS databases. The key findings are: 1) LIS research has generally increased from 2017-2020 with a decrease in 2021 likely due to indexing delays; 2) Surveys/questionnaires are the most common research type with over 1,000 articles per year; 3) Observational research saw the greatest increase of 943%; and 4) Citation analysis saw the greatest decrease of 63%.
The Impact of Research Collaboration on Academic Performance: An Empirical An...Maxim Kotsemir

Available at SSRN: https://ssrn.com/abstract=2913517
The aim of this paper is to investigate the impact of external research collaborations on the scientific performance of academic institutions. Data are derived from the international SCOPUS database. We consider the number of citations of publications to evaluate university performance in Russia. To this end, we develop a non-overlapping generations model to evidence the theoretical idea of research externalities between academic institutions. Moreover, we implement different empirical models to test for the effect of external scientific collaborations on the institutional research quality. The results confirm an important positive impact of co-authoring process.
The presentation introduces a paper concerned with the following 3 questions:
1. What are the main topics in the current Knowledge Economics research?
2. What gaps in current research exist and what are promising research avenues for the future?
3. What are the most crucial components in the process of creating knowledge outputs?
The purpose of this paper is to extend the earlier work by Capgemini and the State University of New York at New Paltz on the contributions to the mini-track on Knowledge Economics at the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS). In the present work, they analyze 16 contributions from 2012 to 2016 and based on the analysis, they propose the Six Pillars of Knowledge Economics framework. The proposed framework articulates that six elements are essential to generate knowledge outputs: Innovation Capability, Leadership, Human Capital, Information Technology Resources, Financial Resources, and Innovation Climate.

Supporting Information Management in Selecting Scientific Research Projectsinventionjournals
Â
The information management in KAU (King Abdulaziz University) face a critical problem when selecting the suitable research projects. Most of faculty members in all faculties and research institutes submit scientific research proposals with the hope to be accepted. The management needs to set a scientific approach to help in selecting suitable proposals. TOPSIS (The Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution Method) is a powerful a multi-criteria approach in ranking alternatives with different criteria and selecting the best alternatives. Applying the TOPSIS solved the problem that the Information management faces.

Organizations worldwide are showing increasing interest in knowledge management practices to address the contemporary challenges of today's digital age. Knowledge is becoming a critical core asset to sustain competitive advantage and as a vehicle for continuous improvement and innovation. However, most of the developments in the knowledge management field are driven by international organizations or private commercial companies. Considering the impact of knowledge management practices, government organizations have the potential for significant improvements in performance, transformation, and the development of a more responsive citizen-centric government.
This article has two objectives: The first is to provide an overview of knowledge management and highlight the importance of this field of practice, and the second is to provide a case study of the successful implementation of knowledge management in a federal government organization in the United Arab Emirates. This article outlines the adopted approach and framework and elaborates on each of the implemented components. The presented case study and lessons learned are benchmarks for best practices and contribute to the existing experimental cases. This, in turn, should help organizations and researchers to better understand how public sector government organizations perceive and practicing knowledge management, which should enable them to reflect and propose improvements.

Business Intelligence products and processes have helped public and private organization to identify opportunities and trends that are both internal and external. For years the concepts of Business Intelligence, data mining, âBigâ data, have become an important part of strategic planning and decision making within many successful organizations. Higher education has been expressing the importance of research, statistical analysis, data modeling, and business decisions based on good information. In fact, higher education institutions have created entire academic programs around these topics. While this information is written and reported within professional periodicals and events, the question stands about how higher education is taking advantage of business intelligence as part of their strategic planning and decision making processes.

In the last decade, several Scientific Knowledge Graphs (SKG) were released, representing scientific knowledge in a structured, interlinked, and semantically rich manner. But, what kind of information they describe? How they have been built? What can we do with them? In this lecture, I will first provide an overview of well-known SKGs, like Microsoft Academic Graph, Dimensions, and others. Then, I will present the Academia/Industry DynAmics (AIDA) Knowledge Graph, which describes 21M publications and 8M patents according to i) the research topics drawn from the Computer Science Ontology, ii) the type of the author's affiliations (e.g, academia, industry), and iii) 66 industrial sectors (e.g., automotive, financial, energy, electronics) from the Industrial Sectors Ontology (INDUSO). Finally, I will showcase a number of tools and approaches using such SKGs, supporting researchers, companies, and policymakers in making sense of research dynamics.

AUGUSTA UNIVERSITY
Once the excitement of creating a new journal has waned and publication has begun, a new challenge arises in sustainability. Augusta University first published their undergraduate research journal, Arsenal, through their institutional repository managed by the University Libraries in 2016. The Arsenal (ISSN 2380-5064 online) is a peer-reviewed, open-access interdisciplinary publication that is dedicated to publishing manuscripts resulting from Augusta University undergraduate research. Each paper published in the Arsenal undergoes a peer review process facilitated by the journalâs Student Editorial Review Board and must be approved by an appointed faculty reviewer in the paperâs respective discipline. It is a student-run journal sponsored by the Center for Undergraduate Research & Scholarship (CURS) and published and managed by the University Libraries. The Arsenal serves as a great impetus for developing careers of nascent researchers.
Since the journalâs first publication in 2016, however, several unanticipated factors arose that have influenced continued publication. Some of these factors include changes on the student editorial board, faculty turnover, research agendas for mentoring faculty, and IRB requirements. Librarians from Augusta University will discuss some of the challenges that arose since initial publication and how the library adapted to these challenges. They will also discuss ways the library is bridging gaps to ensure continued publication of the journal, such as increasing marketing and promotion of the Arsenal to faculty and students, as well as developing further relationships with student organizations to ensure the Arsenalâs student-centered focus.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Â
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
⢠The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
⢠The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate âany matterâ at âany timeâ under House Rule X.
⢠The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
