This document discusses lip prints (cheiloscopy) which can be used for human identification similar to fingerprints. Lip prints are unique to each individual and remain stable over time. They can be visible, persistent, or latent depending on the method of collection. Various classification systems exist based on groove patterns. Lip prints can be collected and analyzed through both manual and digital methods. While trauma, surgery or other factors may impact lip prints, the technique outlined of using lipstick and tape collection has potential for obtaining definable prints. Lip prints thus provide valuable forensic evidence for human identification.
