Taking a Look at Ancient Egypt
Africa is located to the south of the Western Europe and it is a very large landmass. It is bordered
in the north by the Mediterranean Sea and on the east by the Red sea and the Indian Ocean and in
the west by the Atlantic Ocean. Africa is known to have many diverse environments, which include
arid areas, semi arid, Tropical rainforests, Savanna, vast swamps and snowcapped mountains in the
south of Africa. The first ever civilization in Africa was in Egyptalong the river Nile. This
civilization later spread to the other parts of Africa. The emergence of civilization in Africa
provided a framework for most of developments in African history. There were different setups
cultural and political aspects when civilization was emerging.
The Egyptian civilization was the earliest and it was one of the catalysts in the development of
civilization in other parts of Africa. The civilization began around 3000 BC. Its civilization is
known to be one of the longest serving civilizations in the world s history. Egypt is located in the
Nile valley of northeast Africa. The life of Ancient Egyptwas centered on the river Nile and the
fertile land around it for the purpose of agriculture and commercial purposes. The river Nile
provided them with the irrigation they needed and control the flow of the water so that the crops
could grow in any weather condition of that area.
The irrigation provided the Ancient Egypt with adequate food. The surplus crops were used for
civilization and it was

Reasons For The Missouri Compromise
In 1820 the Missouri compromise was formed and the reason it was formed was to satisfy both
Missouri and Maine by admitting both to be states, one Free State and one slave state. The
reasoning behind this was to maintain balance in senate. Missouri wanted to be admitted as a
slave state and it would have disrupted the balance in the senate, so that is why they admitted
Maine as a Free State making the senate balanced again. That was not the only part of the
Compromise, the other part is called the 36В° 30В°N line. Referring to the longitude latitude
coordinates for this boundary line. Basically the purpose of this line was to determine whether new
states, in the Louisiana territory bought from the Louisiana Purchase, would be free states or...

California now wanted to be admitted as a free state. Henery Clay also took part in the making
of the compromise to solve this problem. California was admitted as a free state and the other
southwestern territories would decide whether to be free or not through popular sovereignty.
This influenced stronger fugitive slave laws in the south which eventually graduated to any
southerner accusing any black man or woman being a runaway slave. Many Southerners did not
like the idea of the Missouri compromise because it made laws regarding slavery. The south did
not want slavery to be completely abolished because a large part of the South s economy
depended on slaves working on plantations to produce crops and goods. On the other hand, the
north condemned the compromise acquiescing the expansion of slavery. Eventually, the Missouri
Compromise was deemed unconstitutional in the Supreme Court during the Dredd Scott case.
Henery Clay s talent for composing compromises for the north and south helped keep a balance
between slave and Free states. He very well may have postponed the start of the civil war by many
years. Clay s nationalism in many people s eyes was seen as the savior of the union, keeping it
intact for as long as

Are Animal Experiments For Cosmetic Research Necessary And...
Are animal experiments for cosmetic research necessary and can they be justified?
Abstract:
This report investigates animal is cosmetic testing. The introduction outlines the focus of this
report, the history of animal testing and presenting relevant case studies to illustrate the issue. The
discussion provides in depth information about animal testing by presenting two sides of the story.
The conclusion will highlight the main points learned to help decide if animal experiments are,
indeed, necessary.
Methodology:
Searching online became useful for secondary sources. Websites such as BUAV (British Union for
the Abolition of Vivisection), which offered a useful timeline, like the Cruelty Free International
campaign and how these actions contributed to stopping animal testing in the EU. Cruelty Free
International is supported by a number of celebrities including Ricky Gervais and Sir Paul
McCartney. PeTA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) provided information about the
types and alternatives of testing. The website also listed alternatives to animal testing, such as the
Human skin models, which are considered in this report.
News articles by the BBC were very helpful when considering the pros and cons of animal testing.
A blog by The Beauty Brains provided a scientist s opinion. Social networks e.g. Facebook and
YouTube offered access to video campaigns and the public s opinions.
Primary sources were used to experience face to face research, asking

Selfishness In Kenneth Grahame s Literature
To begin, selfishness is one of the most common personality traits shared amongst society, Kenneth
Grahame s literature features the theme of how making rash decisions can lead to dramatic effects
to those around you. As this is still seen today through historical marks such as, the Zimmerman
case which led to social movements across nations. Sadly not every selfish decision made leads to
something greater. Such decisions include WWII and dictators amongst history. Kenneth Grahames
use of personification by having animals represent humans in many of his stories can be
interoperated as an analogy for how making selfish and rash choices, can cause humankind to look
barbaric and primitive, just as animals.
Moreover, The Wind in the Willowsfeatures a Toad, who is one of the more egotistic characters to
be read, as he cares about himself only, while his friends are constantly bailing him out of his
mistakes. This is seen especially towards the end, after toad escapes his punishment from reckless
endangerment through motor vehicles; his friend s mole, rat, and badger are forced to rush into
danger to help toad get his house back from the squatters. After this, toad swears to be better
about his choices, and he finally express s a great gratitude for all the work his friends do to help
him. The story begins on a lonesome mole, who fears he misses out on everything because he is
underground, But Mole stood still a moment, held in thought. As one wakened suddenly from a

Goodman Brown Archetypes
Olivia Kim
AP Literature
Short Fiction Essay
In Nathaniel Hawthorne s 1835 allegorical, short fiction Young Goodman Brown, innocent, young
Puritan of Salem Village, young Goodman Brown willingly leaves his wife and religion Faith and
enters the dark forest, where he experiences a radical encounter that alters his ways of life.
Throughout this short story Young Goodman Brown, Hawthorne reveals man s inherent nature to
stray and sin, due to man s corruption of morality. Human fallibility, even that of the religious,
good, pure man, is inevitable in the world, where sin and darkness reign through the devil s
destructive temptations and accusations. Nathaniel Hawthorne incorporates countless archetypes,
allegories, characterizations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Along with character and color archetypes, Hawthorne also includes situational archetypes to
convey the loss of innocence and the fall of man in Young Goodman Brown. The journey sparked
by curiosity led to the encounter with the devil, which resulted in the fall of man and the battle
between good and evil. Therefore, although young Goodman Brown entered the forest with only
one intention of meeting someone and returning back to Faith, the devil does not easily let go of
him. When Goodman Brown halts and tries to turn back towards Faith, the second traveller
convinces him to continue and they continued to walk onward... This scene depicts the constant
battle between good and evil, where the devil throws temptations and leads man astray from the
good, pure, straight walk with the Lord.
As Goodman Brown is taken deeper into the forest by the second traveller, they encounter a circle
of devil worshippers, from what it seems. Hawthorne uses imagery, epithets, and dialogue to
express the consuming darkness. As Goodman Brown draws nearer toward the crowd, he sees and
hears. Welcome, my children, says the dark figure, to the communion of your race. Ye have found
thus young your nature and your destiny. My children, look behind you! Hawthorne includes
chilling dialogue of the devil and describes the crowd of figures to be recognizable by Goodman
Brown. They turned; and flashing forth, as

Analysis Of The Book Great Expectations
Letter Essay, Great Expectations By Leona Markose One of the books I have recently read is
Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. It introduces the reader a rather unique approach into
the subject of social class. Throughout the book, Pip, the main character is faced with many
challenges that shape him into who he is. We first meet Pip on Christmas eve around the 1800s.
While out in the church graveyard to pray across the graves of his late family, Pip meets an
escaped convict. His eyes wide in fear, he listens as the convict demands that he steal food and a
file for him. Pip, extremely shaken, goes home (where he lives... Show more content on

He regularly visits the Satis House until Miss.Havisham informs him that he is of age to learn a
trade. At the final meeting, Miss.Havisham gives the money for Pip to be bound as an apprentice
blacksmith. So, Joe starts teaching Pip the ways of his trade. One fateful day while they are
away at work, Mrs. Joe is brutally attacked, leaving her unable to speak and a little out of her
mind. Biddy, a bright and lively girl arrives to help with her care and becomes a blessing to the
household . (pg 110) During Pip s apprenticeship to Joe, Mr. Jaggers, a lawyer, approaches him in
the village. He gives surprising news that Pip has expectations from a benefactor. Apparently
this benefactor has arranged money to be left for Pip to learn the true ways of a gentleman. The
benefactor s name is to remain anonymous until that person is ready to speak up. It has been
arranged that Pip must leave for London the following week. Before leaving, Pip assumes that the
only possible person who could be this benefactor is Miss Havisham. He visits her to say goodbye
once and for all. Before leaving he bids Biddy a farewell. In it he says, `If I could only get myself to
fall in love with you, you don t mind my speaking so openly to such an old acquaintance? `Oh
dear, not at all! said Biddy. `Don t mind me. `If I could only get myself to do it, that would be

The Corpse Bride And Edward Scissorhands Analysis
We do not fear the unknown. We fear what we think about the unknown. Is a quote from Teal
Swan. This idea is incorporated into a lot of director s movies, however, Tim Burton, a creator of
many famous movies, would probably have one of the best understandings of this idea. This is
through Burton s constant use of ideas about the unknown in many of his films. Yet, these ideas of
fearing the unknown and curiosity of the unknown are especially prominent in Burton s films such
as The Corpse Bride and Edward Scissorhands. There are a great amount of techniques Burton uses
to convey these ideas of the unknown, but Burton typically uses techniques such as some sort of
misfit protagonist that is different than most people and a judgmental... Show more content on

He then becomes more of an outcast than he already was and now has to face the ridicule of his
society. He then runs away to hide from everyone and is followed by Pegg s daughter, Kim. Kim
ends up making the neighborhood realize that Edward was innocent of stealing and only acted in
self defense when killing Jim. The neighborhood then realized they never should have feared
Edward and then left Edward alone to enjoy doing what he loves. Both of these examples showcase
that these misfit characters taught their own societies to never fear them or the unknown. Burton
also tends to have a judgmental society to showcase further that society wrongly teaches people to
fear the unknown. Such as in Edward Scissorhands, where the neighborhood was always too quick
to judge Edward and automatically assumed the worst in him. This is especially present when the
neighborhood assumed Edward had killed Jim for no reason and then tried to kill Edward
themselves. This shows that the neighborhood harshly judges those who act outside of their
unspoken rules. This also demonstrates that the neighborhood will only believe what they want to
believe. In the end the neighborhood really only thought of Edward as something new that should
bring joy to their lives, but then wrongly taught themselves to fear him. This technique is also
evident in The Corpse Bride when the townspeople is struck by fear when the dead enter their

Advantages Of Top Up Budgeting
QUESTION 1 In developing an annual budget accompanies may choose to adopt either top
down budgeting approach or bottom up budgeting approach. In the finance ministry bottom
down budgeting was a traditional way used in budget formulation. Top down budgeting came in
the 1990s as a motivation to curb the fiscal deficits in which it lead to fiscal crisis in other
countries. Top down budgeting was found that it helps and manages well the fiscal deficit
efficiently unlike bottom up budgeting approach. Countries like Denmark, Korea Sweden,
Australia, Netherlands, and Chile etc actively use top down budgeting because it helps in
getting information for the evaluation of new initiatives and also in reviewing of programs for
monitoring purposes. Sweden adopted top down budgeting approach because of the series of
huge fiscal deficits it used to incur and it came to be that top down budgeting saved them. Top
down budgeting is advantageous since it is done multiyear unlike bottom down budgeting which
is annually. Top down Budgeting saves on time since it has delegated authority to take care of
the budgeting process unlike Bottom down approach which is time consuming. Bottom up
approach ignores economic forecast since it involves ministry by ministry analysis unlike top
down approach which focuses on economic forecast as it is bases more in fiscal analysis. In top
down budgeting there is ownership of proposal whereby the ownership is joint unlike bottom up
approach where the ownership proposal is specific. We are able to see that top down budgeting is
more advantageous to use in budgeting approach. Countries like Netherlands, Chile and Canada
have independent bodies for economic forecast. Since Top down budgeting successes is seen in the

Sexually Transmitted Infections
In further understanding what sexually transmitted infections are one must know exactly what the
different types of sexually transmitted infections. In this case, the World Health Organization and
Wikipedia.com clearly define each type of infection: Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted infection
caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. In women, symptoms may include abnormal
vaginal discharge, burning during urination, and bleeding in between periods, although most
women do not experience any symptoms. Symptoms in men include pain when urinating, and
abnormal discharge from their penis. If left untreated in both men and women, Chlamydia can
infect the urinary tract and potentially lead to pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). PID can cause
serious problems during pregnancy and even has the potential to cause infertility. It can cause a
woman to have a potentially deadly ectopic pregnancy, in which the child is born outside of the
uterus. However, Chlamydia can be cured with antibiotics. The two most common forms of
herpes are caused by infection with herpes simplex virus (HSV). HSV 1 is acquired orally and
causes cold sores. HSV 2 is acquired during sexual contact and affects the genitals. Some people
are asymptomatic or have very mild symptoms. Those that do experience symptoms usually notice
them 2 to 20 days after exposure which last 2 to 4 weeks. Symptoms can include small fluid filled
blisters, headaches, backaches, itching or tingling sensations in the genital or

Benito Mussolini Research Paper
INTRODUCTION
During the Second World War, Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini was the leader of the Italian
Nationalist Fascist government. He was head of the Italian government from 1922 till 1943. The
significance of Mussolini is that he played a key role acting as the Italian Prime Minister and

there was much retaliation, such as the blowing up of a tunnel that killed 600 Italian soldiers in
return for the massacre of 106 hostages. In another reprisal, 15 men were taken hostage and

keeping with traditional four year colleges and universities, student athletes enjoy the benefit of

Perhaps the rationale behind the lack of on campus housing offered at community colleges, which
is in stark contrast to that of four year colleges and universities, is the fact that a large number of

Rhetorical Analysis Of Leonardo Dicaprio s Speech
Rhetorical Analysis of Leonardo DiCaprio s Speech As debates surrounding climate change have
grown in recent times, especially with Donald Trump s withdrawal from the Paris Climate
Agreement, many environmentalists have evidently viewed his deed as a call to action. In today s
world, environmental change has been glossed over simply for the fact that some disagree upon its
existence. In turn, other well known figures have taken matters into their own hands; as a strong
believer in climatechange himself, famous actor and environmentalist Leonardo DiCapriogave a
powerful speech in front of the United Nations (UN) Climate summit. Through use of the rhetorical
triangle, the three appeals, the patterns of development, and SOAPSTone, DiCaprio presents his
speech effectively to his audience. DiCaprio includes several appeals to ethos, logos, and pathos
throughout his speech to convey that environmental problems need resolution. Although he is not a
scientist, DiCaprio builds his ethos through saying, I am not a scientist, but I don t need to be. He
recognizes that resolving environmental damage doesn t have to fall in the hands of only the
science community. Therefore, he takes initiative by presenting himself as a concerned human
being with only the thought of making the Earthcleaner. Additionally, he uses logos by stating not
only facts but also bringing attention to information that should already be obvious. After talking
about way to improve our environment through economy, he states, The economy will die if our
ecosystems collapse. As the economy relies on the environment for it s resources that later
facilitate trade, only a healthy environment can maintain a steady economy. In addition, DiCaprio
uses pathos throughout his speech to invoke fear and guilt. Most notably in his speech, he states,
And solving this crisis is not a question of politics. It is our moral obligation... He points out that
despite knowing the Earth is changing in a negative way, people would rather choose to fight each
other instead of tackle the environmental problems themselves. And as a result of the human ability
s failure to separate political views aside from bigger problems, the future generations on the Earth

Date:February 10, 2015
This memorandum will use Grossman s model of production of health to evaluate how New York
City s new sick leave law will affect emergency room use.
Grossman s model states that a person utility is based on health (H) and other non health related
goods (Z) that the person consumes. The production possibility frontier for Grossman model shows
the tradeoff between home good production (Z) and health (H). Unlike usual production possibility
frontiers, an individual needs an optimal level of H to maximize consumption of Z goods.

The individual s health is a stock variable which changes over time. Hence, health decisions in
one period not only impact that period but also impact subsequent periods. With paid sick leave,
it is easier for an individual can take time off work to recuperate. This has multiple benefits.
Firstly, it allows the individual to recuperate before health levels become extremely low.
Extremely low levels of health will result in more ER visits and a longer recovery period.
Secondly, if the individual has an infectious disease then paid sick leave allows the individual to
recover and it prevents the infection from spreading to other people in the organization. Lastly, the
improved health (due to recuperation) will increase employee productivity in subsequent periods
at work. Hence paid sick leave will reduce ER visits over the course of the individual s life.
3) A study shows that availability of after hours care by primary physicians reduces emergency
room visits. Based on this study we can infer that it is likely that some of these individuals are
forced to visit emergency rooms due the unavailability of after hours care by primary physicians
and lack of paid sick leave to reach the primary care physician during regular work hours. Paid sick
leave will reduce the emergency room visits as employees can now contact their primary care
physicians during work hours.

Under the leadership of Lee Iacocca and with the support of federal loan guarantees, Chrysler
managed to turn itself around one more time, returning to profitability in 1982. While the late
1980s proved tough for the industry as a whole, the introduction and meteoric rise of the family
minivan (a market controlled 47% by Chrysler as of 1996), coupled with the 1987 acquisition
and subsequent exploitation of the Jeep brand name, left Chrysler the envy of the U.S. auto
market by the mid 1990s. As Fortune magazine stated in late 1996, If a vehicle is in demand and
generates high profit margins, you can bet Chrysler s making it. 4 While Chrysler s success and
relatively conservative management style attracted praise from industry observers, it also
attracted the attention of Las Vegas billionaire Kirk Kerkorian, who with the help of retired Lee
Iacocca, mounted a hostile bid for Chrysler in 1995. The (U.S. dollar) $55 per share ($27.50

The Patriot Movie Historical Accuracy
The Patriot The movie, The Patriot, was released in the year 2000. It is a drama/action film that
relates to the American Revolutionary War. Although the plot of the movie is fictional there are
many aspects that relate to what happened in the war, but some have discrepancies. The Patriot is
the story of a South Carolina plantation owner, Benjamin Martin, who is played by Mel Gibson.
It is more a story of a family during the war then the war itself. When all of the men from
Charleston gathered to the town meeting to discuss whether they should join the war effort and
separate with England or not, Martin speaks of taxation without representation, which in fact was a
major factor in the war. To me, this proves that the movie tried to be as factual to history as
possible. Originally, Martin... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They had already lost their mother; he was all they had left. When William Tavington, a ruthless
British Colonel, kills one of his sons and takes another prisoner, he is left with no choice but to
fight for the colonies freedom. Benjamin Martin s character is supposedly based on Francis
Marion, who was a heartless murderer. Martin uses guerilla warfare to stop the British from
getting supplies and attack outposts in order to slow General Charles Cornwallis from joining the
British troops in the North. Although the purpose of the movie is to entertain the audience, it can
also be viewed as history. It does follow historical events from the beginning of the Revolutionary
War. However, many details have been altered to create drama and action for the viewer s
entertainment. One scene in the movie that was created solely for the purpose of entertainment is
when the British grouped many colonists and locked them inside of a church that they then set on
fire, burning them all alive. This never occurred in history because something of such matter would
have been printed in every history

Sustainable Wood Flooring
We all want to do our part to help save our planet. Nevertheless, most of us do not like to be told
what we should purchase or what we should not consider purchasing. We have been encouraged
to wean ourselves away from incandescent light bulbs, and switch to energy saving bulbs, which
we have now grown accustomed to, and in many cases have come to prefer, but what about
flooring? Fortunately, flooring is also an area where you can go green, and do so in style. It is
indeed possible to have great looking wood flooring in your home without contributing to
worldwide deforestation. Wood Flooring and Sustainable Wood Flooring Your choices are many.

The cork oak tree itself is the responsible party in this case, as the flooring material comes from
bark that is shed from the tree. There is no need to cut a single tree down. The flooring material

flooring. Other Types of Sustainable Flooring Engineered wood is another good example of
sustainable flooring material, since it only a small percentage of it is solid wood. The rest is
scrap or recycled material. The same is true to an even greater extent with laminates. Although
supplies are somewhat limited, recycled wood such as antique wood is an option. Old barn
wood was once a very popular choice and still is, but old barns are unfortunately not sustainable,
and are becoming scarcer with each passing year. There many examples of non wood sustainable
flooring, including stone, ceramic, vinyl, rubber, and of course, carpeting. Many if not most
homeowners like to have at least some wood flooring in their homes however. Fortunately, the
choices of sustainable wood flooring are many and varied. Have no fear of going green. There are

problem as I was still fresh in a 6 year contract. I did not waste the time I had left; I focused on
becoming the best soldier I could. Fueled by the expertise, dedication and experience of the
aviators I have come across, I began requesting training above my level and consistently rising to
the challenges of my superiors and performing above average. I surprised myself along the way,
surpassing my own high expectations, and after appreciating every success I reset the bar higher
than before. The struggles that have caused me to push back my timeline are not seen as regrets.
Every struggle was beat. Every hurdle showed me how much more I am capable of. My desire and

Memory Skills
TRAIN YOUR BRAIN2
INTRODUCTION
What is Memory?
Memory refers to a mental process that is used to gain, gather, and recover information. The
information that is stored in our memory with the help of our senses will be processed by
numerous systems all through our brain, and it will be accumulated for later use (Mason, 2003
2006). Gordon and Berger (2003) said that there are two basic kinds of memory: ordinary and
intelligent memory. Ordinary memory is remembering specific names of people, time, place,
locations of certain things, and things to be done. It is comparatively fragile for it stores
information for a few minutes, and that information will soon be forgotten. Thus, it is what fails

Human Nature And The Desire For Superiority
Holly Donohoe
Period B2
Human Nature and the Desire for Superiority
It s no doubt that superiority and power has played a huge role in the past present and will in the
future. Throughout American Literature, it is a dominant trait in many protagonists and especially
antagonists. The desirable trait has caused many conflicts and hardship and in turn, has led to the
demise of a civilizations in the past. In the film Apocalypse Now, the novella the Heart of Darkness,
and the poem The Hollow Men, it is shown how the desire for power can impose negative
impacts not only a civilization, but to the pursuer of that power as well. Containing so much
power can bring out the best in people, and at most times, it can bring out the worst. However,
many people wonder how is it that a civilization just allows a group of people or a person to
dominate them without a fight. The Hollow Men are a part of a society that has ridden them of
their own beliefs in order to leave room to impart their own dominion. On the other hand, the
character Colonel Kurtz, who is apparent in both Apocalypse Now and the novella, takes on this
role as a god in the eyes of the natives, the power later leads to his insanity.
The Hollow Men now live in a prominently atheist society, the Hollow Men no longer have the
freedom to embrace their own views, but rather the godless form of their society s beliefs (Colonel
Kurtz). The Hollow men attempt to follow their God and hold true to their beliefs, however, they re

Analysis Of Bruno Bettelheim s Beauty And The Beast
Bruno Bettelheim, he analyzed fairy tales in terms of Freudian psychology, which is represented
in his works of The Uses of Enchantment. Beaumont s story of Beauty and the Beast is where
the first discovery of Beauty s problem was identified as the Oedipal complex. The Oedipal
complex is a child s desire to have a sexual relation with the parent of the opposite sex, but it is
repressed deep in the mind. Beauty in Beauty and the Beasthas a special bond of affection with her
father; there is the problem that arises within this complex that what if she were to be stuck at the

there is the representation of the period where she begins to transfer the affection to someone else.
An analysis of Bettelheim s theory of the Oedipal complex reveals psychological problems of
growing up in the written fairy tale and Disney adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. Bettelheim s
theory is centralized on his argument of the importance of fairy tales on a child s development. This
argument was proposed through The Uses of Enchantment, he suggested that fairy tales provided
images to the children and with these images they could structure a better direction to one s life.

Police Agencies in modern society are a part of the American fabric to serve and protect the
American public. The United States currently have more than 15,000 police agencies, (Walker
Katz, 2011). Police Departments across the United States face similar critical issues policing. All
police officers face dangers in the job of policing the dangers can emanate from internal and
external origins. Police officers have continued to evolve to serve communities by finding better

In addition, police officer exposed to high levels of stress relate to their job have been at an
increased risk for adverse health problems, including depression, anxiety, and posttraumatic
stress disorder, (Grant Terry, 2012). Less than lethal weapons Use of fire arms as the choice
weapon by police officers have been around since the late 1800s. Police departments started
issuing firearms to police officers in a response to better armed criminal populations, (Bulman,
2010). Recent studies have shown that less lethal weapons decrease the rate of police officers and
suspect injuries. Because evidence supports less lethal weapons for police officer, many law
enforcement agencies have agencies are stressing the use of less lethal weapons. In the early 19th
century, the less than lethal weapon of choice was the wooden club, (Bulman, 2010). Less than
lethal weapons have evolved to technology such as conductive energy devices (CEDs), commonly
known as the Taser. Technology used in policing Police Departments are continuing to evolve to try
to stay ahead if the criminal. Police technology is most influential changes relative to modern

Comparison Between Health And Pakistan Essay
Comparison of Health Policy in Bangladesh and Pakistan
Introduction:
Health is declared as a basic human right by the universal declaration of human rights in 1948,
stating that everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well being
of oneself and one s family, including food, clothing, housing, and medical care. Endowment of
health is a fundamental good and a moral issue because it provides opportunity to pursue life
goals, reduces pain and suffering, prevents premature loss of life, and provides information needed
to plan lives (Jacobson and Mathur, 2010). However, it is not later than three decades ago that
health is placed high on international agenda. This international agenda has strongly passed on into
almost all countries after the report of the Commission on Macroeconomics and Health, that
investing in health leads to economic development. This reports emphasized health as a resource
for everyday life and as driver of economy of nation (WHO, 2001).
What is a Health Policy?
Health policy can be formally defined as the broad statement of goals, objectives and means that
create the framework for activity. It includes what governments decide to do or not to do. (Buse et
al., 2005). Health policies are expected to offer methods and opportunities to develop collaboration
among different sectors, organizations and people to attain a common goal of promoting health
(WHO, 1986, Byrant, 2002). The main intent of health policies is to

The converses were high tops and navy blue. The objective for the auction of sneakers by Freyer
was Converse declared bankruptcy. Converse laid off American and Mexican manufacturing
workers reason being they wanted to pay lower wages. American men and women could not
compete with China for lower wages. Freyer s visual was to get the audience attention why it s
important to buy American products. in order to stop sweatshops. Supporting American s is very
important to Freyer s belief system. Freyer wanted to reach an American audience so they stop

smokers in her household. John Freyer and EBay have two different types of audiences they are
trying to capture. Freyer made his auction of converse sneakers more political and EBay is more
about a sale. Between the two sales of converse sneakers I would chose Freyer. Even though I may

How Is Mr Keating Change In Dead Poets Society
In the film, Dead Poets Society (1989), John Keating becomes an English teacher at Welton
Academy, a school known for its four pillars: tradition, honor, discipline, and excellence. His way
of teaching is completely different from the school standards as he challenges the traditional
curriculum the school uses by teaching in a style of free thinking. Mr. Keating is a good teacher,
as his role at Welton Academy allows him to interact with his students. His lessons are based off
on poems relating to the subject of the individual, and with these poems his purpose of teaching
these lessons was to bring great ramifications among his students, allowing them to gain a new
perspective of the world and be able to control their own lives. The end result... Show more content

Keating teaches to his students have often based around on philosophies of romanticism,
transcendentalism, and self reliance. He often teaches these poems so that his students will be able
to find their inner individual and find peace in nature and harmony. For example, Keating refers to
the poem, Walden (1854) written by Henry David Thoreau, and quotes, I went to the woods
because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could
not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived
(Thoreau). The purpose of Mr. Keating introducing this poem to his students was to compare
how Thoreau went to the woods to get away from the aspects of modern life to how they could
find ways to apply free thinking instead of simply searching for broad answers. By doing this,
Mr. Keating is helping his students find ways to express themselves and pave the road to their
future. Mr. Keating also makes a reference to Robert Frost s poem, The Road Not Taken (1916),
in a scene where he is teaching his students of finding their own way to walk in the courtyard. He
states, Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one
traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth
(Frost). By referring to this quote, Mr. Keating is encouraging his students to find their own way of
walking in terms of pace, direction, and in any

Something The Lord Made Essay
Something the Lord Made is a historical analysis conducted under a dramatic lense of the
innovations of Vivian Thomas and Alfred Blalock in respect to heart surgery, specifically blue baby
syndrome. Although the dramatic documentary is geared towards the innovations of heart surgery
at this time, there are also heavy ties to the racial divide during the period of history. Essentially,
our protagonist, Vivian Thomas, who subsequently has not had the opportunity to earn a college
degree, is adopted by accredited surgeon Alfred Blalockat Johns Hopkins University. While we see
their research progress we also see the nature and evolution of the dynamic of their relationship
where Vivian Thomas, also being incredibly intelligent, is regarded... Show more content on

I would like to make the argument, however, that this conflict is never resolved, but partially
mediated through habitual compromise. Vivian is given a stable position at Johns Hopkins
University and eventually receives a degree of respect he deserves, but he never matches his
level. Due to his race, Vivian is never able to live out his passion to the extent of which he is
capable.
The two scenes that stand out to me in the film are related to the contrast of Vivian s strong family
and his treatment at JHU and the cinematic value of the surgery itself. The filmmaker made the
excellent decision of contrast through cuts at several points during the film, Vivian s treatment by
Blalock, and Vivian s companionship with his wife. The scene in which the blue baby is operated
on is excellently done, especially with the auditory climax with the layering of the instrumentals.
In the film, we are presented with an incredibly realized character, despite his skin color. We see he
is morally strong and mentally apt which, in any world, constitutes respect professionally and
relationally. For this, in the fashion of a case study, this emotional cognitive dissonance strengthens
the readers understanding and empathy of the overall cultural ambiance of this period of

lower extremity on strength, balance, and motor function in children with spastic diplegia cerebral
palsy (CP). The study applies to my intervention because I want to work on strengthening the trunk
muscles to increase core stability.
The study design of the research is a randomized controlled trial. It is appropriate for the study
question because it compared children who received strength training in the experimental group to
children who received conventional physical therapy treatment in the control group. Hence, the
outcome demonstrates whether strength training is more beneficial in improving strength, balance,

group received 6 weeks of strength training exercises and the control group received 6 weeks of
conventional intervention. Before the start of the intervention, general assessment of strength,
balance, and gross motor function was conducted by a qualified physical therapist. The
experimental group completed intensive strength training with progressive resisted exercises in
different workstations. The exercises were performed three times per week and each session lasted
between 60 90 minutes. The experimental group also received conventional physiotherapy
treatment 1 2 days a week. In contrast, the control group only received conventional physiotherapy
treatment 3 5 sessions per week, with each session lasting between 60 90 minutes. The conventional
physiotherapy treatment included range of motion and stretching exercise, mobility training,
movement transitions, positioning or prescription of adaptive devices, gait training, and functional
activities.
There was a significant increase in strength in all the tested muscle groups for the experimental
group while only some muscle groups increased in strength for the control group. Increase in
balance was also noted when assessed with the PBS for the experimental group. Significant

Comparison Of Kuhn And Popper s Understanding Of Science
In this section we will compare and contrast Kuhn s understanding of science with Popper s
understanding of science. These two methods are narrower when it comes to levels of scrutiny.
They are also more open and willing to embrace change because they seek to change the status quo
which is traditional science. Both scientists agree that the traditional method of science is too
broad and ignores many different variables that could change the outcome of the results. They
also concur on the idea that a subjective approach to science and reason is more suitable to reach
a correct answer rather than shooting wildly in all directions and accepting the bullet that is
closest to our target. Kuhn and Popper looked at traditional science as a method based on
assumptions and estimates rather than exact truths or data. They do differ however in some ways.
Kuhn does not believe that falsifying theories is necessary to ascertain the truth like Popper does.
He simply believes that society is rapidly changing and therefore the methods of science must
change also. Popper does not necessarily concern himself with sociological opinions or status quos.
He focuses more on the procedures of traditional methods and works to disprove theories. Karl
Popperwas an Austrian British philosopher as well as a professor of science. He grew up in a
wealthy family and surrounded himself with education and knowledge. He attended various
lectures and soon found himself accepting the socialist ideas of Karl

Ecclesiastes Death Equalizer
Death being the great equalizer has been a popular phrase for a very long time. In Ecclesiastes,
It is explained what death being the great equalizer means. Ecclesiastes 9 1 2 (NLT) reads This,
too, I carefully explored: Even though the actions of godly and wise people are in God s hands,
no one knows whether God will show them favor. The same destiny ultimately awaits everyone,
whether righteous or wicked, good or bad, ceremonially clean or unclean, religious or irreligious.
Good people receive the same treatment as sinners, and people who make promises to God are
treated like people who don t. What these verses are saying is no matter who you are or what you
do, deathis something we all share and it s something we re all going to meet eventually. So there s
a question to be asked, why be righteous and follow God... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Continuing with Ecclesiastes 9, it goes on to say one should enjoy their lives and live then to
the fullest because the lives we live in the living world is meaningless. Ecclesiates 9 7 8 (NIV)
reads Whatever they did in their lifetime loving, hating, envying is all long gone. They no longer
play a part in anything here on earth. 7 So go ahead. Eat your food with joy, and drink your wine
with a happy heart, for God approves of this! 8 Wear fine clothes, with a splash of cologne!?
Although many times in Ecclesiastes it says what we do in life is meaningless, it still
encourages people to be wise and the characteristics of the wise person and the fool are still the
same as they are in Proverbs and other wisdom literature in the Bible. What s different about
Ecclesiastes is it tells you not to be over wise and destroy yourself and it also says the same thing
about wickedness. It tells you to basically stay as neutral as you can and avoid extremes because
falling more into one side than the other will cause your own destruction. It says this in Ecclesiastes

Calf diarrhea or scours is a commonly reported disease and a significant cause of economic losses
and decreasing productivity of dairy producers. Disease prevention and management is important
from both a calf and public health perspective due to positive association between exposure to

review is to identify the zoonotic enteric diseases of neonatal calves and identify animal husbandry

Cryptosporidium is wide spread in Australian dairy calves with prevalence as high as 100% in
some herds. Infected calves can be asymptomatic, however, typical clinical signs include:

loose, watery diarrhea, straining, anorexia,
weight loss,
depression,
dehydration.
Humans can be infected either directly or indirectly by consuming food or water contaminated
with ooysts or by inadequate hand washing practices after exposure to infective feces or animals.
Many people do not develop illness after exposure. Individuals with the greatest susceptibility to
cryptosporidiosis include the young childeren, elderly, malnourished, disease impaired (i.e. those
with diabetes, or chronic disease), and a broad group of immunocompromised individuals (i.e.
AIDS patients, transplant recipients, and those receiving chemotherapy) who may become infected
with lower number oocysts. For those individuals that show clinical signs, explosive watery
diarrhea and abdominal pain are common. Vomiting, nausea, fever, and muscle cramps can also
occur. The symptoms usually resolve in 7 to 14 days in an immunocompetent host. Oocyte
excretion may continue to occur for up to an additional 1 to 4 weeks post resolution of clinical
signs. Cryptosporidium are able to survive for prolonged periods in the environment under
favorable conditions (temperatures from 0В°C to 65В°C) and are resistant to most common
disinfectants (including chlorine bleaches and alcohol). Cryptosporidium loses its infectivity by

Dark And Light Imagery Within The Hobbit Essay example
The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien is said to be one of the greatest children s novels of all time. The
novel, due to its use of such characters as goblins, elves, trolls, giants, and others is in tradition, a
fairy tale. The tale centers on a small hobbit by the name of Bilbo Baggins. It follows the journey
of a band of dwarves, a wizard named Gandalf, and their robber, Bilbo on their way to retrieving
treasure that had long been taken away from them. The hobbittraveled all over Middle Earth,
beginning with Bilbo s tiny hobbit hole in the ground, to Mirkwood forest, to finally reaching the
Mountain in which the dragon Smaug lives. Tolkien uses a large amount of imagery in his writing
which can been seen through settings in The Hobbit. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These forms of figurative language help the reader create a mental picture . For example, when
Bilbo Baggins meets Gollum, a strange, slimy creature who lives deep in the caves of Moria, he
describes Gollum s eyes as В… the light of his eyes burned with a pale flame (92). Gollum s eyes
are not really pale flames, but because hi iris was such a bright color, in contrast to the dark, Bilbo
had observed it as pale. Also, his eyes were not actual flames . Gollum was infuriated by the lose of
his ring and therefore Bilbo saw rage in his expression, his eyes were not flames .
The majority of Tolkien s imagery is found in nature. In 1999, Karen Oberst concluded that Tolkien
s greatest use of nature was when he anthropomophized it, which means to attribute human
characteristics to something that is not human. This form of imagery is an on going pattern
throughout Tolkien s tale. Bilbo Baggins repeatedly advises human characteristics to the inanimate
objects that are around him, which adds profoundness to Tolkien s tale. For instance, Bilbo
describes the west part of the Mountains on the way to Homely Home as having no trees and no
valleys and no hill to break the ground in front of them, only one vast slope going slowly up and
up to meet the feet of the nearest mountain [В…] (Tolkien 52). Tolkien used this example of
imagery to emphasize the bleakness of the situation.
Light imagery and dark imagery are found in two very different

Every company has an accounting cycle. An Accounting cycle is the process that begins with

Journalized and Posting Adjusting Entries Then, adjusting entries are journalized and posted to the
ledger. At the end of the accounting period the adjusting entries appearing in the work sheet are
recorded in the journal and posted to the ledger; bringing the ledger into agreement with the data
reported on the profit and loss account and balance sheet. The adjusting entries are dated as on the
last day of the accounting period, even though they are usually recorded some time later Preparing
an Adjusting Trial Balance The next step involves an adjusting trial balance being prepared. The
adjusted trial balance is prepared to verify the equality of the total of the debit and credit balances.
This is the last step before preparing the financial statements. If the adjusted trial balance does not
balance, an error had occurred and must be found and corrected. Preparing the Financial Statements
The financial statements are then prepared. The financial statement is the most important outcome
of the account cycle. In this process the income statement is prepared first, followed by the
statement of owner s equity, and then the balance sheet. The statement can be prepared directly
from the adjusted trial balance, the end of period spreadsheet, or the ledger. The net income or net

  • 2. Taking a Look at Ancient Egypt Africa is located to the south of the Western Europe and it is a very large landmass. It is bordered in the north by the Mediterranean Sea and on the east by the Red sea and the Indian Ocean and in the west by the Atlantic Ocean. Africa is known to have many diverse environments, which include arid areas, semi arid, Tropical rainforests, Savanna, vast swamps and snowcapped mountains in the south of Africa. The first ever civilization in Africa was in Egyptalong the river Nile. This civilization later spread to the other parts of Africa. The emergence of civilization in Africa provided a framework for most of developments in African history. There were different setups cultural and political aspects when civilization was emerging. The Egyptian civilization was the earliest and it was one of the catalysts in the development of civilization in other parts of Africa. The civilization began around 3000 BC. Its civilization is known to be one of the longest serving civilizations in the world s history. Egypt is located in the Nile valley of northeast Africa. The life of Ancient Egyptwas centered on the river Nile and the fertile land around it for the purpose of agriculture and commercial purposes. • 3. Reasons For The Missouri Compromise In 1820 the Missouri compromise was formed and the reason it was formed was to satisfy both Missouri and Maine by admitting both to be states, one Free State and one slave state. The reasoning behind this was to maintain balance in senate. Missouri wanted to be admitted as a slave state and it would have disrupted the balance in the senate, so that is why they admitted Maine as a Free State making the senate balanced again. That was not the only part of the Compromise, the other part is called the 36В° 30В°N line. Referring to the longitude latitude coordinates for this boundary line. Basically the purpose of this line was to determine whether new states, in the Louisiana territory bought from the Louisiana Purchase, would be free states or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... California now wanted to be admitted as a free state. Henery Clay also took part in the making of the compromise to solve this problem. California was admitted as a free state and the other southwestern territories would decide whether to be free or not through popular sovereignty. This influenced stronger fugitive slave laws in the south which eventually graduated to any southerner accusing any black man or woman being a runaway slave. Many Southerners did not like the idea of the Missouri compromise because it made laws regarding slavery. The south did not want slavery to be completely abolished because a large part of the South s economy depended on slaves working on plantations to produce crops and goods. On the other hand, the north condemned the compromise acquiescing the expansion of slavery. Eventually, the Missouri Compromise was deemed unconstitutional in the Supreme Court during the Dredd Scott case. Henery Clay s talent for composing compromises for the north and south helped keep a balance between slave and Free states. He very well may have postponed the start of the civil war by many years. Clay s nationalism in many people s eyes was seen as the savior of the union, keeping it intact for as long as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Abstract: This report investigates animal is cosmetic testing. The introduction outlines the focus of this report, the history of animal testing and presenting relevant case studies to illustrate the issue. The discussion provides in depth information about animal testing by presenting two sides of the story. The conclusion will highlight the main points learned to help decide if animal experiments are, indeed, necessary. Methodology: Searching online became useful for secondary sources. Websites such as BUAV (British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection), which offered a useful timeline, like the Cruelty Free International campaign and how these actions contributed to stopping animal testing in the EU. Cruelty Free International is supported by a number of celebrities including Ricky Gervais and Sir Paul McCartney. PeTA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) provided information about the types and alternatives of testing. The website also listed alternatives to animal testing, such as the Human skin models, which are considered in this report. News articles by the BBC were very helpful when considering the pros and cons of animal testing. A blog by The Beauty Brains provided a scientist s opinion. Social networks e.g. Facebook and YouTube offered access to video campaigns and the public s opinions. Primary sources were used to experience face to face research, asking ... • 5. Selfishness In Kenneth Grahame s Literature To begin, selfishness is one of the most common personality traits shared amongst society, Kenneth Grahame s literature features the theme of how making rash decisions can lead to dramatic effects to those around you. As this is still seen today through historical marks such as, the Zimmerman case which led to social movements across nations. Sadly not every selfish decision made leads to something greater. Such decisions include WWII and dictators amongst history. Kenneth Grahames use of personification by having animals represent humans in many of his stories can be interoperated as an analogy for how making selfish and rash choices, can cause humankind to look barbaric and primitive, just as animals. Moreover, The Wind in the Willowsfeatures a Toad, who is one of the more egotistic characters to be read, as he cares about himself only, while his friends are constantly bailing him out of his mistakes. This is seen especially towards the end, after toad escapes his punishment from reckless endangerment through motor vehicles; his friend s mole, rat, and badger are forced to rush into danger to help toad get his house back from the squatters. After this, toad swears to be better about his choices, and he finally express s a great gratitude for all the work his friends do to help him. The story begins on a lonesome mole, who fears he misses out on everything because he is underground, But Mole stood still a moment, held in thought. As one wakened suddenly from a beautiful ... • 6. Goodman Brown Archetypes Olivia Kim AP Literature Short Fiction Essay In Nathaniel Hawthorne s 1835 allegorical, short fiction Young Goodman Brown, innocent, young Puritan of Salem Village, young Goodman Brown willingly leaves his wife and religion Faith and enters the dark forest, where he experiences a radical encounter that alters his ways of life. Throughout this short story Young Goodman Brown, Hawthorne reveals man s inherent nature to stray and sin, due to man s corruption of morality. Human fallibility, even that of the religious, good, pure man, is inevitable in the world, where sin and darkness reign through the devil s destructive temptations and accusations. Nathaniel Hawthorne incorporates countless archetypes, allegories, characterizations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Along with character and color archetypes, Hawthorne also includes situational archetypes to convey the loss of innocence and the fall of man in Young Goodman Brown. The journey sparked by curiosity led to the encounter with the devil, which resulted in the fall of man and the battle between good and evil. Therefore, although young Goodman Brown entered the forest with only one intention of meeting someone and returning back to Faith, the devil does not easily let go of him. When Goodman Brown halts and tries to turn back towards Faith, the second traveller convinces him to continue and they continued to walk onward... This scene depicts the constant battle between good and evil, where the devil throws temptations and leads man astray from the good, pure, straight walk with the Lord. As Goodman Brown is taken deeper into the forest by the second traveller, they encounter a circle of devil worshippers, from what it seems. Hawthorne uses imagery, epithets, and dialogue to express the consuming darkness. As Goodman Brown draws nearer toward the crowd, he sees and hears. Welcome, my children, says the dark figure, to the communion of your race. Ye have found thus young your nature and your destiny. My children, look behind you! Hawthorne includes chilling dialogue of the devil and describes the crowd of figures to be recognizable by Goodman Brown. They turned; and flashing forth, as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Analysis Of The Book Great Expectations Letter Essay, Great Expectations By Leona Markose One of the books I have recently read is Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. It introduces the reader a rather unique approach into the subject of social class. Throughout the book, Pip, the main character is faced with many challenges that shape him into who he is. We first meet Pip on Christmas eve around the 1800s. While out in the church graveyard to pray across the graves of his late family, Pip meets an escaped convict. His eyes wide in fear, he listens as the convict demands that he steal food and a file for him. Pip, extremely shaken, goes home (where he lives... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the final meeting, Miss.Havisham gives the money for Pip to be bound as an apprentice blacksmith. So, Joe starts teaching Pip the ways of his trade. One fateful day while they are away at work, Mrs. Joe is brutally attacked, leaving her unable to speak and a little out of her mind. Biddy, a bright and lively girl arrives to help with her care and becomes a blessing to the household . (pg 110) During Pip s apprenticeship to Joe, Mr. Jaggers, a lawyer, approaches him in the village. He gives surprising news that Pip has expectations from a benefactor. Apparently this benefactor has arranged money to be left for Pip to learn the true ways of a gentleman. The benefactor s name is to remain anonymous until that person is ready to speak up. It has been arranged that Pip must leave for London the following week. Before leaving, Pip assumes that the only possible person who could be this benefactor is Miss Havisham. He visits her to say goodbye once and for all. Before leaving he bids Biddy a farewell. In it he says, `If I could only get myself to fall in love with you, you don t mind my speaking so openly to such an old acquaintance? `Oh dear, not at all! said Biddy. `Don t mind me. `If I could only get myself to do it, that would be ... • 8. The Corpse Bride And Edward Scissorhands Analysis We do not fear the unknown. We fear what we think about the unknown. Is a quote from Teal Swan. This idea is incorporated into a lot of director s movies, however, Tim Burton, a creator of many famous movies, would probably have one of the best understandings of this idea. This is through Burton s constant use of ideas about the unknown in many of his films. Yet, these ideas of fearing the unknown and curiosity of the unknown are especially prominent in Burton s films such as The Corpse Bride and Edward Scissorhands. There are a great amount of techniques Burton uses to convey these ideas of the unknown, but Burton typically uses techniques such as some sort of misfit protagonist that is different than most people and a judgmental... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He then becomes more of an outcast than he already was and now has to face the ridicule of his society. He then runs away to hide from everyone and is followed by Pegg s daughter, Kim. Kim ends up making the neighborhood realize that Edward was innocent of stealing and only acted in self defense when killing Jim. The neighborhood then realized they never should have feared Edward and then left Edward alone to enjoy doing what he loves. Both of these examples showcase that these misfit characters taught their own societies to never fear them or the unknown. Burton also tends to have a judgmental society to showcase further that society wrongly teaches people to fear the unknown. Such as in Edward Scissorhands, where the neighborhood was always too quick to judge Edward and automatically assumed the worst in him. This is especially present when the neighborhood assumed Edward had killed Jim for no reason and then tried to kill Edward themselves. This shows that the neighborhood harshly judges those who act outside of their unspoken rules. This also demonstrates that the neighborhood will only believe what they want to believe. In the end the neighborhood really only thought of Edward as something new that should bring joy to their lives, but then wrongly taught themselves to fear him. This technique is also evident in The Corpse Bride when the townspeople is struck by fear when the dead enter their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Advantages Of Top Up Budgeting QUESTION 1 In developing an annual budget accompanies may choose to adopt either top down budgeting approach or bottom up budgeting approach. In the finance ministry bottom down budgeting was a traditional way used in budget formulation. Top down budgeting came in the 1990s as a motivation to curb the fiscal deficits in which it lead to fiscal crisis in other countries. Top down budgeting was found that it helps and manages well the fiscal deficit efficiently unlike bottom up budgeting approach. Countries like Denmark, Korea Sweden, Australia, Netherlands, and Chile etc actively use top down budgeting because it helps in getting information for the evaluation of new initiatives and also in reviewing of programs for monitoring purposes. Sweden adopted top down budgeting approach because of the series of huge fiscal deficits it used to incur and it came to be that top down budgeting saved them. Top down budgeting is advantageous since it is done multiyear unlike bottom down budgeting which is annually. Top down Budgeting saves on time since it has delegated authority to take care of the budgeting process unlike Bottom down approach which is time consuming. Bottom up approach ignores economic forecast since it involves ministry by ministry analysis unlike top down approach which focuses on economic forecast as it is bases more in fiscal analysis. In top down budgeting there is ownership of proposal whereby the ownership is joint unlike bottom up approach where the ownership proposal is specific. We are able to see that top down budgeting is more advantageous to use in budgeting approach. Countries like Netherlands, Chile and Canada have independent bodies for economic forecast. In this case, the World Health Organization and Wikipedia.com clearly define each type of infection: Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted infection caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. In women, symptoms may include abnormal vaginal discharge, burning during urination, and bleeding in between periods, although most women do not experience any symptoms. Symptoms in men include pain when urinating, and abnormal discharge from their penis. If left untreated in both men and women, Chlamydia can infect the urinary tract and potentially lead to pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). PID can cause serious problems during pregnancy and even has the potential to cause infertility. It can cause a woman to have a potentially deadly ectopic pregnancy, in which the child is born outside of the uterus. However, Chlamydia can be cured with antibiotics. The two most common forms of herpes are caused by infection with herpes simplex virus (HSV). HSV 1 is acquired orally and causes cold sores. HSV 2 is acquired during sexual contact and affects the genitals. Some people are asymptomatic or have very mild symptoms. However, its approach was much different. Google had made just the software, not the device, giving the software free to phone makers to alter and adjust in anyway they pleased to fit their over 70 different phones. Google believed that by offering it free, in the long run would create more internet friendly phones and more ad views for Google. The unresponsive touchscreen, unnecessary software, overall layout of the home screen is unattractive and difficult to comprehend and the overall cheapness of the phones frustrated Manjoo. Other attributes include vast numbers of first generation students, students of color, and full time students. Perhaps the rationale behind the lack of on campus housing offered at community colleges, which is in stark contrast to that of four year colleges and universities, is the fact that a large number of community college students live in the community, or the urban community colleges are situated whereby students may make use of mass transit means to get back and forth. • 16. Rhetorical Analysis Of Leonardo Dicaprio s Speech Rhetorical Analysis of Leonardo DiCaprio s Speech As debates surrounding climate change have grown in recent times, especially with Donald Trump s withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement, many environmentalists have evidently viewed his deed as a call to action. In today s world, environmental change has been glossed over simply for the fact that some disagree upon its existence. In turn, other well known figures have taken matters into their own hands; as a strong believer in climatechange himself, famous actor and environmentalist Leonardo DiCapriogave a powerful speech in front of the United Nations (UN) Climate summit. Through use of the rhetorical triangle, the three appeals, the patterns of development, and SOAPSTone, DiCaprio presents his speech effectively to his audience. DiCaprio includes several appeals to ethos, logos, and pathos throughout his speech to convey that environmental problems need resolution. Although he is not a scientist, DiCaprio builds his ethos through saying, I am not a scientist, but I don t need to be. He recognizes that resolving environmental damage doesn t have to fall in the hands of only the science community. Therefore, he takes initiative by presenting himself as a concerned human being with only the thought of making the Earthcleaner. Additionally, he uses logos by stating not only facts but also bringing attention to information that should already be obvious. After talking about way to improve our environment through economy, he states, The economy will die if our ecosystems collapse. As the economy relies on the environment for it s resources that later facilitate trade, only a healthy environment can maintain a steady economy. In addition, DiCaprio uses pathos throughout his speech to invoke fear and guilt. Most notably in his speech, he states, And solving this crisis is not a question of politics. It is our moral obligation... He points out that despite knowing the Earth is changing in a negative way, people would rather choose to fight each other instead of tackle the environmental problems themselves. And as a result of the human ability s failure to separate political views aside from bigger problems, the future generations on the Earth will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Grossman s model states that a person utility is based on health (H) and other non health related goods (Z) that the person consumes. The individual s health is a stock variable which changes over time. Hence, health decisions in one period not only impact that period but also impact subsequent periods. With paid sick leave, it is easier for an individual can take time off work to recuperate. This has multiple benefits. Firstly, it allows the individual to recuperate before health levels become extremely low. Extremely low levels of health will result in more ER visits and a longer recovery period. Secondly, if the individual has an infectious disease then paid sick leave allows the individual to recover and it prevents the infection from spreading to other people in the organization. Lastly, the improved health (due to recuperation) will increase employee productivity in subsequent periods at work. Hence paid sick leave will reduce ER visits over the course of the individual s life. 3) A study shows that availability of after hours care by primary physicians reduces emergency room visits. Based on this study we can infer that it is likely that some of these individuals are forced to visit emergency rooms due the unavailability of after hours care by primary physicians and lack of paid sick leave to reach the primary care physician during regular work hours. Paid sick leave will reduce the emergency room visits as employees can now contact their primary care physicians during work hours. 4) With the new paid sick leave law, an ... Although the plot of the movie is fictional there are many aspects that relate to what happened in the war, but some have discrepancies. The Patriot is the story of a South Carolina plantation owner, Benjamin Martin, who is played by Mel Gibson. It is more a story of a family during the war then the war itself. When all of the men from Charleston gathered to the town meeting to discuss whether they should join the war effort and separate with England or not, Martin speaks of taxation without representation, which in fact was a major factor in the war. The desirable trait has caused many conflicts and hardship and in turn, has led to the demise of a civilizations in the past. Beaumont s story of Beauty and the Beast is where the first discovery of Beauty s problem was identified as the Oedipal complex. The Oedipal complex is a child s desire to have a sexual relation with the parent of the opposite sex, but it is repressed deep in the mind. Beauty in Beauty and the Beasthas a special bond of affection with her father; there is the problem that arises within this complex that what if she were to be stuck at the stage of development and never outgrow it. Comparison Between Health And Pakistan Essay Comparison of Health Policy in Bangladesh and Pakistan Introduction: Health is declared as a basic human right by the universal declaration of human rights in 1948, stating that everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well being of oneself and one s family, including food, clothing, housing, and medical care. Endowment of health is a fundamental good and a moral issue because it provides opportunity to pursue life goals, reduces pain and suffering, prevents premature loss of life, and provides information needed to plan lives (Jacobson and Mathur, 2010). However, it is not later than three decades ago that health is placed high on international agenda. • 46. Comparison Of Kuhn And Popper s Understanding Of Science In this section we will compare and contrast Kuhn s understanding of science with Popper s understanding of science. These two methods are narrower when it comes to levels of scrutiny. They are also more open and willing to embrace change because they seek to change the status quo which is traditional science. Both scientists agree that the traditional method of science is too broad and ignores many different variables that could change the outcome of the results. They also concur on the idea that a subjective approach to science and reason is more suitable to reach a correct answer rather than shooting wildly in all directions and accepting the bullet that is closest to our target. Kuhn and Popper looked at traditional science as a method based on assumptions and estimates rather than exact truths or data. They do differ however in some ways. Kuhn does not believe that falsifying theories is necessary to ascertain the truth like Popper does. He simply believes that society is rapidly changing and therefore the methods of science must change also. Popper does not necessarily concern himself with sociological opinions or status quos. He focuses more on the procedures of traditional methods and works to disprove theories. Karl Popperwas an Austrian British philosopher as well as a professor of science.
