Minimum clearance should be 10 ft for 50 KV lines & 0.4 inch for each 1 KV over 50 KV.
Electric overhead traveling cranes or EOT cranes are a common type of overhead crane,
also called bridge cranes. They consist of parallel runways, much akin to rails of a
railroad, with a traveling bridge spanning the gap.
What is EOT Crane ?
Working Principle of EOT Crane
There are three working movements of EOT Crane- crane hook up and down lifting, trolley lateral
movement and crane long travelling longitudinal motion. The motor exhibits a driving force of the
hoisting mechanism. This transmits the power to high-speed shaft end.
TYPES
•Single girder EOT crane. The single girder EOT crane has a single girder with a trolley and hoist
that runs along the axis.
•Double girder EOT crane.
Single girder EOT crane
Double girder EOT
crane
Difference Between Single & Double Girder EOT Crane
Single Girder EOT cranes used mostly up to 20 mtr 25T
capacity for normal working. Double Girder EOT cranes can be
used from 1Ton to more than 500 Ton as per requirement.
Single Girder cranes used mostly in light applications for
handling normal material with standard working conditions.
Advantages :
•Easy to operate
•High efficiency
•Low maintenance cost
•Low power consumption
•High-graded Steel
•Precision Hob cut helical gear unit
•V3F Control Panel
•Cabin, Pendent, and Radio Remote Control
Options
•Walkway Platform
•Synchronized Twin drive motion
However, it has been used in wider
sectors such as:
•Automobile industry
•Heavy Engineering
•Steel industry
•Power industry
•Textile industry
•Cement industry
•Glass industry
•Railway Workshops
Need For EOT Crane :
What is an Overhead Crane
An overhead crane is a type of heavy duty machinery that is capable of moving
extremely heavy loads and equipment from one location to another in a safe
and precise manner using the overhead space of a manufacturing facility. Due
to the nature of the work they perform, they are precision configured and
designed to fit a specific form of loading application.
Overhead cranes come in a variety of sizes, types, shapes, and configurations
with components and accessories. They are used for loading and unloading,
moving materials, lifting dies from stamping machines, or feeding raw
materials.
The two main reasons for installing an overhead crane are efficiency and safety.
Overhead cranes can work several times faster than floor or land based devices.
In hazardous, dangerous, and severe conditions such as where there are heated
metals, chemicals, or toxic materials, overhead cranes can safely move
materials without endangering workers.
How Overhead Cranes Work
When it is necessary to move bulky materials or extremely heavy loads through a
manufacturing facility, it is more convenient and efficient to use an overhead
crane instead of struggling to navigate aisles and floor space. Overhead cranes
lift, lower, and move horizontally along a rail or beam and are capable of safely
lifting extremely heavy loads. The travel and speed of the crane is controlled by an
operator using a pendant station or wireless control.
Overhead cranes cover a rectangular area and are able to move loads from side to
side as well as forward and backward. Though not every overhead crane is the
same, they do have certain standard features such as a hoist, trolley, beams,
girders, and control systems.
Classification
The determination of a crane‘s classification uses these criteria:
•Frequency of use
•Speed of material transfer
•Number of lifts per hour
•Maintenance cycle
•Average load
•Number of full capacity lifts
•Work environment
Bridge Crane
A bridge crane has two runways built into either side
of a building and attached to the superstructure. The
runways are connected by a bridge by end trucks
that run on wheels on the runway. The bridge can be
configured as either a single or double with a trolley
running on each. The trolley and hoist are
underhung and run along the bottom of the bridge.
Gantry Crane
A gantry crane is very similar to a bridge crane with a
single difference. A bridge crane has its runways
attached to the super structure of a building. A gantry
crane sets on four legs that support and move it. The
bridge, trolley, and hoist are connected to the legs.
The legs move along rails to position the bridge for
loading, lifting, and moving. The rails for the legs are
mounted on the floor, ground, or foundation much
like a railway track.
Monorail Crane
Monorail cranes do not have a bridge or girders. The
trolley connects to an I beam that is built into the
ceiling and travels along the flat surface at the
bottom of the beam.
Jib Crane
A jib crane is another variation of overhead cranes that does not
use a bridge, runway, or any form of track system. They can be
placed and mounted in several different positions from being
connected to a wall to standing alone. They can be designed to
rotate in a complete circle or have a limited range of rotation.
Automated Crane
The control of an overhead crane can be fully automated where
the operator programs the activities of the crane and it completes
each operation without manual interference or be semi-
automated where certain functions are controlled by the operator.
The key to a fully automated system is the type of software
programmed into the crane.
Pendant crane is a type of pendant overhead crane, used in industrial
environment. A pendant overhead crane is consisted of parallel crane
runways with a traveling bridge spanning the gap. An electric hoist or
trolley travels along the bridge as the lifting mechanism.
What is Pendant Overhead Crane
What should you do before moving a load?
• Make sure you have the required training, qualifications, or certification as determined by your
jurisdiction to operate the crane.
• Visually inspect the crane before use.
• Make sure all loose materials, parts, blocking and packing have been removed from the load before
lifting.
• Remove any slack from the sling and hoisting ropes before lifting the load.
• Make sure that the lifting rope is vertically straight to the load to be lifted.
• Verify that the load is not heavier than the maximum load capacity.
Winch is a lifting machine which is designed to pull loads horizontally across a
relatively level surface.
Capacity : 1 to 10 Ton
Safety Precautions for Winch operation
Never engage or disengage clutch if winch is under load, winch rope is in tension
or drum is moving.
Never touch winch rope or hook while under tension or under load.
Always stand clear of winch rope and load and keep others away while winching.
Never use vehicle to pull load on winch rope.
What is a winch ?
MOTOR DRIVEN WINCH MANUAL WINCH
TYPES OF WINCH AS PER DRIVE SYSTEM
What is a Jack ?
Jacking tool is a portable hand-operated device for raising heavy weights
through short distances, exerting great pressures, or holding assembled work
firmly in position.
Types :
1) Mechanical jack
2) Hydraulic Jack
Capacity :
Mechanical : 1 to 3 Ton
Hydraulic Jack : 10 to 50 Ton
Use : Pulling of coupling/bearing from shaft, for fixing wheel in vehicle etc

  • 19. Electric overhead traveling cranes or EOT cranes are a common type of overhead crane, also called bridge cranes. They consist of parallel runways, much akin to rails of a railroad, with a traveling bridge spanning the gap. What is EOT Crane ? Working Principle of EOT Crane There are three working movements of EOT Crane- crane hook up and down lifting, trolley lateral movement and crane long travelling longitudinal motion. The motor exhibits a driving force of the hoisting mechanism. This transmits the power to high-speed shaft end. TYPES •Single girder EOT crane. The single girder EOT crane has a single girder with a trolley and hoist that runs along the axis. •Double girder EOT crane.
  • 22. Difference Between Single & Double Girder EOT Crane Single Girder EOT cranes used mostly up to 20 mtr 25T capacity for normal working. Double Girder EOT cranes can be used from 1Ton to more than 500 Ton as per requirement. Single Girder cranes used mostly in light applications for handling normal material with standard working conditions. Advantages : •Easy to operate •High efficiency •Low maintenance cost •Low power consumption •High-graded Steel •Precision Hob cut helical gear unit •V3F Control Panel •Cabin, Pendent, and Radio Remote Control Options •Walkway Platform •Synchronized Twin drive motion However, it has been used in wider sectors such as: •Automobile industry •Heavy Engineering •Steel industry •Power industry •Textile industry •Cement industry •Glass industry •Railway Workshops Need For EOT Crane :
  • 23. What is an Overhead Crane An overhead crane is a type of heavy duty machinery that is capable of moving extremely heavy loads and equipment from one location to another in a safe and precise manner using the overhead space of a manufacturing facility. Due to the nature of the work they perform, they are precision configured and designed to fit a specific form of loading application. Overhead cranes come in a variety of sizes, types, shapes, and configurations with components and accessories. They are used for loading and unloading, moving materials, lifting dies from stamping machines, or feeding raw materials. The two main reasons for installing an overhead crane are efficiency and safety. Overhead cranes can work several times faster than floor or land based devices. In hazardous, dangerous, and severe conditions such as where there are heated metals, chemicals, or toxic materials, overhead cranes can safely move materials without endangering workers.
  • 24. How Overhead Cranes Work When it is necessary to move bulky materials or extremely heavy loads through a manufacturing facility, it is more convenient and efficient to use an overhead crane instead of struggling to navigate aisles and floor space. Overhead cranes lift, lower, and move horizontally along a rail or beam and are capable of safely lifting extremely heavy loads. The travel and speed of the crane is controlled by an operator using a pendant station or wireless control. Overhead cranes cover a rectangular area and are able to move loads from side to side as well as forward and backward. Though not every overhead crane is the same, they do have certain standard features such as a hoist, trolley, beams, girders, and control systems. Classification The determination of a crane‘s classification uses these criteria: •Frequency of use •Speed of material transfer •Number of lifts per hour •Maintenance cycle •Average load •Number of full capacity lifts •Work environment
  • 25. Bridge Crane A bridge crane has two runways built into either side of a building and attached to the superstructure. The runways are connected by a bridge by end trucks that run on wheels on the runway. The bridge can be configured as either a single or double with a trolley running on each. The trolley and hoist are underhung and run along the bottom of the bridge. Gantry Crane A gantry crane is very similar to a bridge crane with a single difference. A bridge crane has its runways attached to the super structure of a building. A gantry crane sets on four legs that support and move it. The bridge, trolley, and hoist are connected to the legs. The legs move along rails to position the bridge for loading, lifting, and moving. The rails for the legs are mounted on the floor, ground, or foundation much like a railway track.
  • 26. Monorail Crane Monorail cranes do not have a bridge or girders. The trolley connects to an I beam that is built into the ceiling and travels along the flat surface at the bottom of the beam. Jib Crane A jib crane is another variation of overhead cranes that does not use a bridge, runway, or any form of track system. They can be placed and mounted in several different positions from being connected to a wall to standing alone. They can be designed to rotate in a complete circle or have a limited range of rotation. Automated Crane The control of an overhead crane can be fully automated where the operator programs the activities of the crane and it completes each operation without manual interference or be semi- automated where certain functions are controlled by the operator. The key to a fully automated system is the type of software programmed into the crane.
  • 27. Pendant crane is a type of pendant overhead crane, used in industrial environment. A pendant overhead crane is consisted of parallel crane runways with a traveling bridge spanning the gap. An electric hoist or trolley travels along the bridge as the lifting mechanism. What is Pendant Overhead Crane
  • 28. What should you do before moving a load? • Make sure you have the required training, qualifications, or certification as determined by your jurisdiction to operate the crane. • Visually inspect the crane before use. • Make sure all loose materials, parts, blocking and packing have been removed from the load before lifting. • Remove any slack from the sling and hoisting ropes before lifting the load. • Make sure that the lifting rope is vertically straight to the load to be lifted. • Verify that the load is not heavier than the maximum load capacity.
  • 29. Winch is a lifting machine which is designed to pull loads horizontally across a relatively level surface. Capacity : 1 to 10 Ton Safety Precautions for Winch operation Never engage or disengage clutch if winch is under load, winch rope is in tension or drum is moving. Never touch winch rope or hook while under tension or under load. Always stand clear of winch rope and load and keep others away while winching. Never use vehicle to pull load on winch rope.
