Li-Fi is a wireless communication technology that uses visible light communication to transmit data. It can provide bidirectional, high-speed wireless communication similar to Wi-Fi but uses light rather than radio waves. Li-Fi is a subset of optical wireless communications and can complement existing RF technologies like Wi-Fi and cellular networks. It allows for underwater communications, vehicle-to-vehicle communication, and highly accurate location-based services. The first Li-Fi equipment was developed by Professor Harald Haas and coined during a TED Global talk.
