This document provides an overview of Li-Fi technology. It discusses the history, construction, working, advantages, limitations, and applications of Li-Fi. Li-Fi transmits data through visible light communication and was coined by Professor Harald Haas in 2011. It consists of LED bulbs, photo detectors, and other components. Data is transmitted by turning the LED on and off very fast. Li-Fi provides advantages like higher speeds, better security, and no interference. However, light cannot pass through objects, which poses a limitation. Potential applications include use in cars, airports, and medical facilities where Wi-Fi is restricted.

Li-Fi can be thought of as a light-based Wi-Fi. That is, it uses light instead of radio waves to transmit information. And instead of Wi-Fi modems, Li-Fi would use transceiver-fitted LED lamps that can light a room as well as transmit and receive information. Since simple light bulbs are used, there can technically be any number of access points.
Let's go to next ladder and grab information about new technology which faster and Innovative than present technologies. That technology name is Gi-Fi. Which transfers the digital data through light.
Li-Fi is a new paradigm for optical wireless technology to provide unprecendented connectivity within a localized data-centric environment. The increasing demand for higher bandwidths, faster and more secure data transmission as well as environmental and undoubtedly human friendly technology heralds the start of a major shift in wireless technology, a shift from RF to optical technologies.
The principle is simple: turn a light on and off so rapidly that the human eye can't see the flicker, but a photodetector can nonetheless pick up the stream of 1s and 0s the blinking bulb is transmitting. Compress the data, and you up the throughput even more. Old-style filament bulbs and fluorescent tubes aren't up to the task, but new, LED-based lighting is.

You can get the basic theme of an emerging communication technology named "LiFi" which will overcome the drawbacks of WiFi by a good margin!

This technology uses a part of the electromagnetic spectrum that is still not greatly utilized- The Visible Spectrum. Light is in fact very much part of our lives for millions and millions of years and does not have any major ill effect. Moreover there is 10,000 times more space available in this spectrum and just counting on the bulbs in use, it also multiplies to 10,000 times more availability as an infrastructure, globally.
Light Fidelity is the next generation technology which gives rise the next path braking technology by which we internet can be provided more efficiently, cheaply and with more speed using LED bulbs.
LiFi is cellular wireless networking (re)using lights. Specifically, light emitting diodes (LEDs) are used in LiFi as visible light transmitters.
LiFi is a wireless optical networking technology that uses light-emitting diodes (LEDs) for data transmission. LiFi is designed to use LED light bulbs similar to those currently in use in many energy-conscious homes and offices.
Li-Fi uses common household LED (light emitting diodes) light bulbs to enable data transfer, boasting speeds of up to 224 gigabits per second.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

3. INTRODUCTION
Li-Fi means light fidelity.
It can be used as light based Wi-Fi.
Instead of radio waves it uses visible rays for transmission.
Data can be transmitted through LED light.
4. HISTORY
Li-Fi is a VLC [Visible Light
Communication] .
It is a technology developed by a team of
scientists including Dr Gordon Povey , Prof.
Harald Haas and Dr Mostafa Afghani at the
University of Edinburgh UK
.
The term Li-Fi was coined by Prof. Haas in
July 2011
Harald Hass, who is considered to be the
Father of Li-Fi says that the heart of Li-Fi
technology lies in the intensity and the potential
of the LEDs
HARALD HASS
5. Li-Fi consists of four primary sub-
assemblies:
Printed circuit board (PCB)
RF power amplifier (PA)
Bulb
Enclosure
6. Electrodes

material
The bulb is embedded in the
dielectric material
Two degradable electrodes are used.
Dielectric material serves two
purposes-waveguide, electric field
concentrator.
Plasma state-emits light of high
intensity.
7. The operational procedure is very
simple.
If the LED is ON digital 1 is
transmitted, if it is OFF digital 0 is
transmitted.
Lamp driver-codes data into
LED’s.
Photo detector encodes the data
8.
9. Gamma rays can’t be used as they could be
dangerous.
X-rays have similar health issues.
Ultraviolet light is good for place without people, but
other wise dangerous for the human body.
Infrared, due to eye safety regulation, can only be
used with low power.

oCars communicate – prevent
accidents
Airports:
oWi-Fi will be slow.
oTo avoid these Li-Fi is used.
13. Visible Light is

• Operating rooms don’t
allow Wi-Fi.
14. The possibilities are numerous and can be explored
further.
If this technology can be put into practical use,
every bulb can be used something like a Wi-Fi hotspots
totransmitwireless data.
With its magic of light it can make our world
greener , safer, cleaner and more over a brighter place
