INTRODUCTION
• Lifestyle diseases are diseases that are
caused partly by unhealthy behaviours
and partly by other factors.

1.DIABETES
• A disorder in which cells are unable to
obtain glucose from the blood such
that high blood glucose levels result .
Prevention
• Maintaining a healthy weight
• Avoid smoking
• Exercise
• Avoid junk food
• Avoiding sedentary life
2. STROKE
• Stroke is the loss of brain function due to
a disturbance in the blood supply to the
brain. The disturbance is due to either
haemorrhage.
• High blood pressure is the most important
modifiable risk factor. PREVENTION
• Weight reduction
• Smoking cessation
• Reduce salt
• 5fruits/ vegetables a day
• Regular exercise
3. CANCER
• Uncontrollable growth of abnormal cells.
• Risk factors for cancer are tobacco
use/smoking radiation, dietary factors, etc.
PREVENTION
• Don’t smoke
• Stay active
• Eat your veggies and cut the fat
• Eat moderate protein
• Get regular medical check ups .
4.HYPERTENSION
• A condition in which the force of the blood
against the artery walls is too high.
Risk factor
• Lack of exercise
• Increased salt intake
• Alcohol
• Smoking
• Stress
• Age
• Family history
Prevention
• Salt restrictions
• Weight reduction
• Stop smoking
• Diet modifications such as
1. Reduce intake of cholesterol and
saturated fat
2. Adequate intake of calcium and
magnesium
• Limit of alcohol intake.
5.DEPRESSION
• Habits
• Multiple medical issues
• Poor social relations
• Obesity
• Poor nutritional intake
PREVENTION
• Healthy diet
• Physical activity
• Yoga
• Meditation
• Proper sleep
PREVENT LIFESTYLE DISEASES
• Do daily routines of physical activity
• Drink moderate amount of alcohol
only
• Eat healthy food
• Do not smoke
• Manage stress
CONCLUSION
There are many factors that contribute to
negative lifestyle diseases. Preventive
measures such as healthy diet,
maintaining a healthy body weight,
adopting a physically active lifestyle, and
avoiding the use of tobacco products,
can help to prevent or possibly delay
health problems.

  • 4. 1.DIABETES • A disorder in which cells are unable to obtain glucose from the blood such that high blood glucose levels result . Prevention • Maintaining a healthy weight • Avoid smoking • Exercise • Avoid junk food • Avoiding sedentary life
  • 5. 2. STROKE • Stroke is the loss of brain function due to a disturbance in the blood supply to the brain. The disturbance is due to either haemorrhage. • High blood pressure is the most important modifiable risk factor. PREVENTION • Weight reduction • Smoking cessation • Reduce salt • 5fruits/ vegetables a day • Regular exercise
  • 6. 3. CANCER • Uncontrollable growth of abnormal cells. • Risk factors for cancer are tobacco use/smoking radiation, dietary factors, etc. PREVENTION • Don’t smoke • Stay active • Eat your veggies and cut the fat • Eat moderate protein • Get regular medical check ups .
  • 7. 4.HYPERTENSION • A condition in which the force of the blood against the artery walls is too high. Risk factor • Lack of exercise • Increased salt intake • Alcohol • Smoking • Stress • Age • Family history Prevention • Salt restrictions • Weight reduction • Stop smoking • Diet modifications such as 1. Reduce intake of cholesterol and saturated fat 2. Adequate intake of calcium and magnesium • Limit of alcohol intake.
  • 8. 5.DEPRESSION • Habits • Multiple medical issues • Poor social relations • Obesity • Poor nutritional intake PREVENTION • Healthy diet • Physical activity • Yoga • Meditation • Proper sleep
  • 9. PREVENT LIFESTYLE DISEASES • Do daily routines of physical activity • Drink moderate amount of alcohol only • Eat healthy food • Do not smoke • Manage stress
  • 10. CONCLUSION There are many factors that contribute to negative lifestyle diseases. Preventive measures such as healthy diet, maintaining a healthy body weight, adopting a physically active lifestyle, and avoiding the use of tobacco products, can help to prevent or possibly delay health problems.
