MODERN DIET AND ITS METABOLIC
DISORDERS
• WHAT IS DIET???????
• The kinds of food that a person, animal, or community habitually eats
• A special course of food to which a person restricts themselves, either to
lose weight or for medical reasons.
• Restrict oneself to small amounts or special kinds of food in oder to lose
weight
Modern Diet
• Modern diet is food that contain too much high calories food or calorie rich
food that’s lack in micronutrients such as carbohydrate, protein and minerals
• Junk food related to modern diet that simply means an empty calorie
• A food that is high in fat, sodium, white flour and refined sugar and provides
high calories yet useless in value is known as Junk food which present
generation has adopted it as modern diet
Balance Diet
• A balance diet contain a mixture of whole food from each of the major food
groups such as grains, fruits vegetables and protein
• An Unbalanced diet contain food having too much calories or too low
calories
• An unbalanced diet may leads to malnutrition , loss of muscle and weakened
respiratory system
MAIN COMPONENT OF
BALENCED DIET
Macronutrients Micronutrients
Protein Vitamins
Carbohydrates Minerals
Fat Antioxidants
BALANCE DIET
BENEFITS OF DIET• Healthy diet increase endurance
• Healthy diet increase mental health
• Heart attack and strokes caused by high cholesterol and high blood pressure
we should be prevention of these disease with a proper diet
• A proper diet is a healthier body , causing more confidence
• More physical resistance
• Cellular hydration, mineral supplement, alkine pH.
• To reduce the risk of breast cancer
• Reduction of the risk of heart attack
DRAWBACKS OF MODREN DIET :
• Modren diet led to many metabolic disorders:
• Diabetes mellitus
• Early aging
• Weight gain and obesity
• Increase coronary artery risk
• Increase cancer risk
• Increase osteoporosis risk
• Coronary heart
Metabolic Disorders
abnormal chemical reaction in the body alter the normal metabolic process
• Different metabolic disorders are :
• Diabetes mellitus type 2
• Early Aging
• Abdominal obesity
• Coronary heart complexes
conditions
Sedentary life style
lipodystrophy
Diabetes Mellitus type 2
high blood sugar, insulin resistance and relatively lack of insulin
• It occurs as a result of lack of exercise and obesity
• SYMPTOMS:-
• Frequent urination, increased thirst , increased hunger
• It is a chronic disease ( 10 year life expectancy )
• PREVENTIONS
• through proper nutrition and regular exercise
• High level of physical activities reduce the risk of diabetes mellitus
METABOLIC PATHWAY OF DIABETES
MELLITUS
LESS EAT DIET FOR DIBETEC PATIENT
Trans fats from partially hydrogenated or deep fried food
Packaged and fast food, especially those high in sugar, baked goods, sweets,
chips desserts
White bread sugary cereals refined pastas or rice
Processed meat and red meat
Low-fat products
DIABETES EFFECT ORGANS
EARLY AGING
• It is process of becoming older
• In Human beings, ageing is the accumulation of change in human being over
time
• It’s a chronic disease ( about two third people die due to age relating disease)
• It increase the risk of cardiovascular disease
• Atherosclerosis is a ageing disease
FOOD THAT CAUSE EARLY AGING
SUGAR
1. It provokes chronic inflammation
To avoid from brown sugars etc. not naturally source like fruit
HYDROGENATED FATS
a) Promote inflammation
b) Trans fat promote insulin resistance or high cholesterol and obesity
FOOD THAT CAUSE EARLY AGING
PROCESSED FOOD
a) It include refined grains, processed meat and pasteurized
diary
b) Pasteurization also kill some digestive enzymes
c) Processed meat is a very strong contributor to aging and
disease especially cancer of the colon and rectum
Non-naturally raised meat
EARLY AGING
TO AVOID EARLY AGING
Seek out only free range and organic meat from animals fed entirely on the
natural diet such as grasses
Eat more natural food rich in phytonutrients and antioxidants
Drink more clean water
Eat naturally raised organic proteins
Abdominal Obesity
• Abdominal obesity, also known as Central Obesity, is when excessive abdominal
fat around the stomach and abdomen has built up to the extent that it is likely to
have a negative impact on health.
• Abdominal obesity means that a person is not only obese, but weight concentrates
in middle part of body
• This is a strong co-relation between central obesity and cardiovascular diseases
• It is associated with higher risk of hypertension, heart diseases , diabetes mellitus
and insulin resistance
OBESITY
CAUSES OF OBESITY
• Obesity is caused by eating too much and
moving too little. If one consume high
amount of energy particularly fats and
sugar but don't burn of energy through
exercise and physical activity . Much of
the surplus energy will be stored by body
as fats .
OBESITY CAUSING DIET
Eating processed
Fast foods
Unrefined carbohydrates
Leptin
A hormone produce by fat cells
Leptin resistance
Suggestions :
Vegetables
Grains
Milk and yoghurt
Drink plenty water
Limit intake of food containing saturated fat, added salt, added sugars and
alcohol
Use very low calorie diet
CONCLUSION
• Modren diet affects our lives too much .
• The percentage of fat in diet also impact on exercise and resting metabolism
• More activity and rapid growth results in shorter life expectancy
• Less activity and slower growth result in longer life expectancy
• Awareness on junk food facts is lacking amongst every individual in
community
• People like to eat more junk foods which led to many metabolic disorder
• Person with metabolic disorders can,t able to enjoy healthy life.
• Food that have moderate amount of sugar and salt calcium rich food used to
meet daily requirements.
