The document discusses the transformation of librarians into cybrarians due to advances in information and communication technologies. A cybrarian is defined as a library and information science professional that specializes in using the internet as a resource tool and helps integrate internet technology into education. The key responsibilities of a cybrarian include dealing with web content, implementing new technologies, educating users, and providing access to resources. This transformation is necessary due to the changing nature of libraries and information access, requiring cybrarians to develop new technical skills to navigate digital resources and steer users to relevant information.
Ancient Gurus in ancient Gurukulas used to impart knowledge to their pupils through oralteaching. The Gurus themselves were treasure troves of knowledge, without the need to refer to
hard and soft copies, and online resources. The long-driventransition from paperless back topaperless, that is, from oral instruction through palm leaves through copper plates through virtualpaper through electronic to digital Libraries is as arduous as it is fascinating.

The Web 2.0 is here and it’s changing everything that we do on the Internet! Library 2.0: A New Version for the Future looks at how library systems and services fit into this user-centric world where dynamic, Web-based tools, online communities, and the ability to personalize everything drive one’s computing environment. In this day-long seminar we will look at how people are using technology (in and out of the library) and explore the the mindset of library users. We will also take a look at specific Web environments, tools, and applications that are currently shaping the information landscape.
ABSTRACT : A digital is an organized collection of electronic resources. Digital library is a very complex and dynamic entity. It has brought phenomenal change in information collection, preservation and dissemination scene of the world. It is complex entity because it completely based on ICT systems. A distinction is often made between content that was created in a digital format, known as born-digital, and information that has been converted from a physical medium, e.g. paper, by digitizing. It should also be noted that not all electronic content is in digital data format. The term hybrid library is sometimes used for libraries that have both physical collections and electronic collections for example: American Memory is a digital library within the Library of Congress.

E- library system also known as a digital library is concerned with that body of knowledge relating to the collection, organization, storage, distribution, retrieval, and utilization of digital information. Digital libraries basically store materials in electronic format and manipulate large collections of those materials effectively.
Format would be a combination of text, imaging, sound, video, audio and animation.

We all know that technology trends are moving at light speed. The truth is that many of these trends are here one day and gone the next. Most of this technology also isn’t particularly relevant to the library world. This presentation will dive into how to identify emerging technology that might make an impact on libraries, now or in the future. Tune in if you want to learn more about the following topics:
•What is Emerging Technology?
•What are some examples of emerging tech?
•How is this tech applicable to libraries?
•What might library patrons want to know about emerging tech?
•What can we tell interested patrons about these tech trends?
We will dive deeper into this topic on March 13 during a presentation about the Ethics Behind Emerging Technology.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
