Such beings do not belong to the rabbit family, the carrot family, etc. Define "Person" Person is defined in at least a dozen different ways, according to the field or discipline in which you define it. The First Trimester The heart, no larger than a poppy seed, has been beating since day 18, and by 21 days it is pumping, through its own closed circulatory system, blood whose type is different from the mother’s. Four weeks after fertilization the eye, ear and respiratory systems begin to form and thumb sucking has been photographed within the first month by scientists. Did you know? 9. By 8 weeks the embryo grows to 1/2 an inch, the major muscles system develops and he moves gracefully like a good swimmer although the mother can't feel it yet. This tiny human is perfectly developed with long, tapering fingers, feet and toes and whose skin is almost transparent with a highway of delicate arteries and veins visible to the ends of the fingers. By 10 weeks, 20 tiny baby teeth are forming in the gums, he squints, swallows, moves his tongue, and if you stroke his palm, will make a tight fist. 11. By the second trimester, the baby is now in its fetal stage and measures 2 1/2 to 3 inches in length. Fully formed, the heart rate can be heard with a special instrument called a Doppler and just as adults, the fetal baby can experience the rapid eye movement (REM) sleep of dreams. The body is more complex than ours. The fetal baby has several extra parts to his body which he needs only so long as he lives inside his mother. He has his own space capsule, the amniotic sac. He has his own lifeline, the umbilical cord, and he has his own root system, the placenta. These all belong to the baby himself and not to his mother, all developed from his original cell. From 12 weeks, they can stretch, kick and leap around the womb - well before the mother can feel movement.

15. At four months the baby is coated with soft downy hair called "lanugo" and comes in at about 6 inches in length and weighing 6 to 7 ounces. Fine hair, eyelashes, and fingerprints are all complete. Awake or asleep, the fetal baby moves 50 times or more each hour exploring his warm, wet compartment by touch. He touches his hand to his face, places one hand on the other hand, clasps his feet, places his hand to the umbilical cord and sometimes walks around the womb by pushing off with his feet. By 20 weeks the baby will have grown to 1 pound or 454g and though still small and fragile he can hear and recognize the mother's voice. By six months the tender skin is now covered by a waxy substance called "vernix" and the baby continues to practice breathing by inhaling amniotic fluid in preparation for the big day when he takes his first breath of air.

16. Cruel Facts About Partial Birth Abortion While most babies are in their 20th to 24th week when aborted in this manner, babies are aborted as late as the ninth month ! This was admitted to by abortionist Dr. McMahon who, in 1995, submitted to the House Judiciary Constitution Subcommittee a graph and explanation that showed he aborted healthy babies even in the third trimester! When this type of procedure first became public knowledge, those defending it said it was only done a few hundred times a year. The reality is, this gruesome method of killing partially born babies is done many thousands of times a year. Abortionist, Dr. McMahon, admitted in 1995 to performing over 2000 partial birth abortions. In a tape-recorded interview to the House Judiciary Committee abortionist Dr. Martin Haskell admitted: “...the majority of fetuses aborted this way (partial birth abortion) are alive until the end of the procedure.” As disturbing as this sounds, these are the facts. In this country medical doctors are partially delivering babies and then killing them. These babies are inches from being born. Many could be born and placed directly in the loving arms of childless couples for adoption. Instead, they are cruelly killed. Dr. Haskell said in a tape recorded interview with the AMA’s American Medical News: “...and I’ll be quite frank: most of my abortions are elective (not medically necessary) in that 20-24 week range ... In my particular case, probably 20% are for genetic reasons. And the other 80% are purely elective.”
