ACTIVATION (3 min.)

The teacher will show the students some flashcards and she will try to elicit the names of the
animals from the students, then she will ask:
T: can monkeys climb trees?
St: Yes, they can
T: Do they like bananas?
St: yes!

COMPREHENSION AND CLARIFICATION (15 min.)
The teacher will read a short paragraph about Tom and his day in the zoo, then she will write
on the board some sentences like “monkeys are brown and small”
She will then ask students for other animals they may like or dislike and for them to provide
some of their characteristics.


APPLICATION
Activity nº1: Answer the questions about the animals
Brief explanation: Sts will answer some multiple choice questions, using HOT POTATOES (Jquiz).
Time allotted: 10 minutes.



Activity nº2:
Brief explanation: Sts will match the description of an animal with its name.
Ss will have to use HOT POTATOES (Jmatch).
Time allotted: 10minutes


Activity nº3: Order the words to make sentences
Brief explanation:
Sts will order the words to ask sentences about the different animals, using HOT POTATOES

Brief explanation: Students will have to complete the crossword on animals and their
characteristics using HOT POTATOES (Jcross)

day in the zoo.

REFLECTION (2 minutes)
The teacher will write some sentences in the board and students have to meow like a cat if
they are describing animals or roar like a tiger if not.

Fish can only live in water
My mother hates snakes
Snakes are long, scary animals
