This document contains a lesson plan for a 6th grade English class about wild animals. The 50-minute lesson has the following components: An icebreaker hangman game to introduce the topic of wild animals. Brainstorming wild and domestic animals and classifying them into categories on the board. Playing a guessing game called "What am I?" where students ask yes/no questions to guess which wild animal flashcard is on their forehead. Finally, students complete a worksheet to classify more animal vocabulary as wild or domestic. The goal is for students to learn and practice vocabulary about wild animals through engaging activities involving listening, speaking, and critical thinking skills.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.

Procedures
(up to 3 minutes)
I will greet students and ask them what date is today.
As an icebreaker, I will let students guess the topic of today’s lesson by playing hangman.
I will briefly explain the rules for those who didn’t play this game before. Then I will write in
the board the words “Wild Animals” with gaps in them. So, I will ask the whole class and
also individually to tell me what letters could be missing. They are supposed to tell me the
letters in English.
Transition:
“Ok now let’s see how many animals you know”
(10 minutes)
To introduce the topic, I will ask students to brainstorm all the animal names they know in
English and I will write them on the board. In case they run out of names, I will elicit more
possible answers.
I will divide the board in two, in order to classify the mentioned animals into the categories
of “wild” or “domestic”. I will ask if anyone knows the difference between wild and domestic
animals. I can tell them that wild animals are not supposed to live with us but in their
natural habitat.
So, as a whole class, the students will help me classify the animals when I ask:
“Is the (monkey, dog, elephant) a wild animal? Or is it a domestic animal?” and I will guide
them to give a correct answer.
Transition:
“Alright very good, now we’re going to play a game!”
3. “What am I?” game
For this game I will first show some flashcards of wild animals and make sure students
know their names in English. Then I will explain how this game works. I will tell them that
each one of them should stick one of these flashcards on their foreheads so that they
CAN’T read the name of the animal. I can say something like: “The objective of the game
is to guess which wild animal you are by asking questions to your classmates”.
I will set some clear rules in Spanish before starting:
_You only have to ask “yes/no” questions. Give examples: “Do I have 4 legs? Do I live in
the ocean?” Then I will copy some prompts on the board.
_You can only ask ONE question to each classmate.
_You can’t sit still for this game; you have to move around the classroom.
_If you cheat you will lose the game.
_The questions can be in L1 but the names of the animals should be in English.
_When you are sure about your animal you should say: “I am a … (lion, tiger, snake, etc.)!”
Students who guess their animals before the time’s up (10 minutes) will be the winners. In
case some students have trouble remembering the names of the animals, they can resort
to the table from the board or ask me or the teacher. I will be monitoring their interactions
to make sure the activity is carried out in a controlled way and helping students in case
they don’t know what to ask or if they can’t guess their animal.
Before we start, I will exemplify the activity with any student who wants to collaborate.
The game could be played more than once if we have enough time.
Transition:
“Good work everybody! Now let’s move on”
I will clean the board and provide them with a worksheet. They will have a pool of words so
as to classify them, in order to revise meaning.
Worksheet:
tiger – bull – dog – lion – rabbit – cat – elephant – giraffe – hamster – turtle - fox
Wild Animals Domestic Animals
Transition:
“Ok nice class, goodbye! see you all on Thursday"
