LESSON PLAN – JOLLY PHONICS
This lesson plan is designed to work all the individual letters and sounds in
the jolly phonics I have decided to work all of them the same way to
create a sense of continuity and systematic process so that little by little
they will always know what we are doing and therefore automaticity as
well.
Introducing
•First of all is presenting the sound to the students. To
do this the first page of the Notebook has a poster
with word, a picture representing that word and
the written form both capital and small letter.
Action +
Song
•Explain we are going to listen to a song that
belongs to the sound we haver previously talked
about.
•Once we haver listend to the song I will explain the
letter movement and practice it a little befor
joining it to the song .
Recognizing
•To check if they can recognize and descriminate
the sound we would play with the "I spy.." activiy.
•While doing this we could hold up a flashcard so
they can start to assosiate the specific sound to its
written form.
Writting
•With the sound song in the background, tell the
children to practice drawing the letter in the air, on
their partners back or coming up to the board and
trace the once on the Notebook activity screen.
There are some extra sounds such as ou/ow or oi/oy for instance, that
would explain with reinforcement activities such as alphabet soups, vowel
forests…
When it comes to working with vowel teams and consonant digraphs I will
use doorbells activities to explain the idea that for 2 letters there is only one
sound.
Alphabet book
I would create a class alphabet book and the children each their own
where thy woud inset all the worksheets and activities they have
completed of each letter.
Group Sequence
When finished the group we have been working on I would prepare a
whole group sequence to start segmenting and blending with low tech
and high tech activities.
