The US Constitution is not weighed down in detail but is simple, straight forward, and organized. The Constitution is built around six basic principles Popular Sovereignty Limited Government Separation of Powers Checks & Balances Judicial Review Federalism
From The Top Preamble- From this short concise introduction, we are left with this noteworthy opening words… We the People Of The United States, in Order to  form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure  domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense,  promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings  of Liberty to ourselves and out Posterity, do ordain  and establish this constitution for the United States  of America
Six Basic Principles The US Constitution is a balanced document  of seven sections known as articles. The first three articles deal with the three branches of government: Congress, The President, & Federal Court System Article Four: The States & American Union Article Five: The Process of Additional Amendments Article Six: National Supreme Law Article Seven: Ratification of the US Constitution
Popular Sovereignty- Political power resides in the people.  They are the only source for any and all government power.  Government can govern only with the consent of the governed.
Limited Government- No government is all-powerful.  Government many do only those things that they people have given them the right to do.  Government must be conducted according to constitutional principles
Separation of Powers- Powers, within the National Government are distributed equally between the Congress   (The Legislative Branch) ,   The President   (The Executive Branch),   & The Courts   ( The Judicial Branch)
Checks & Balances- The three branches of government are not separate, but are all tied together by a complex system, where each branch is consistently being checked by constitutional restraints
Judicial Review- Power of the courts to determine weather the actions of the government is in accordance with the Constitution.
Federalism- A divisions of power is found within the National Government and the State Government
So, How Does This  Shape Who We Are?   Our individual Political Identity is shaped by our political attitudes or positions that focus on the concerns of social groups identified mainly on the basis of gender, race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation  The best known aim of creating Political Identity in the United States has been by empowering the oppressed, to articulate their oppression in terms of their own experience, a process of consciousness, which distinguishes Political Ideality from the liberal conception of politics as driven by individual self-interest.
From the Six Basic Principles, the Articles, Preamble & the Bill of Rights in the US Constitution, the Framers allowed the American population to have the political freedom to individually shape a political identity and create a government that is ran by the people for the people.
