This document outlines an innovation plan to establish accountable district nutrition steering committees in Tanzania. The plan aims to (1) have working and accountable district nutrition steering committees, (2) build their capacity, (3) develop district nutrition strategic plans, (4) form sub-district nutrition committees, and (5) develop performance contracts between committees and district authorities. Key stakeholders like the district committees, CSA, and government officials will implement actions like capacity building, plan development, and committee formation. Results will be evaluated monthly and disseminated nationally through meetings and media.

It help to the attainment of one of PANITA strategic goal which is to
advocate for policy improvement and foster dialogue on strategic
nutrition issues in Tanzania

What kind of favourable conditions, existing today in your country, can
enable the achievement of this Plan?
- Presence of New Multisectral Nutrition Action Plan. 2016 – 2021.
- Presence of District Nutrition Steering Committee.
- Presence of Circulars and Guidelines from Central government.
- Presence of political will from from the top. E.g Vice president is the
Nutrition champion.
- There is a demand creation of sub district nutrition committee
