The document discusses using Lean Manufacturing approaches to identify and reduce waste at small and medium metal casting enterprises (SMEs). Big Picture Mapping and tools like VALSAT and pie diagrams were used to identify the most significant waste, which was found to be waiting. Root cause analysis (RCA) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) identified the causes of critical waste. The highest risk priority number (RPN) from the FMEA was used to determine the best alternative to reduce waiting waste, which was proposed to be improving production activities and tool management. Currently only 26% of activities add value while 74% do not.

resulted in to Rejection of Product. This study deals with Six Sigma DMAIC methodology implementation and
gives a frame work of how the non-conformance rate was first monitored and then brought in to acceptance
limits. A complete Coverage of the statistical analysis performed during the study is given and results are
shown to describe that how Six Sigma helped the Project members to Improve Quality of Pump casings at
manufacturing facility.

The main problems identified were uneven shape/thickness of latex products and high bursting rates. Through the Define, Measure, Analyze phases, the team found the dipping process caused uneven coagulant/latex distribution, leading to uneven shapes after inflation and thin/thick product walls. Improper former cleaning also caused uneven wall thickness. The root causes were identified as poor coagulant wetting, uneven liquid distribution, and viscous latex running off the formers during removal. The goal of the study was to reduce defects from a 2 to 4 sigma level through analyzing and improving the dipping process.

This project applies the Six Sigma DMAIC methodology to improve a sand casting process at a foundry in Southern India that manufactures flywheel outer casings. In the Define phase, the problem of high defect rates is stated. In the Measure phase, defect data is collected and the baseline sigma level is calculated. In the Analyze phase, statistical tools like Pareto charts and fishbone diagrams are used to identify sources of variation. In the Improve phase, solutions are implemented to reduce defects. Experimental results show the optimized process reduced defects and increased sigma levels, validating the Six Sigma approach.

Embedded machine learning-based road conditions and driving behavior monitoring
Car accident rates have increased in recent years, resulting in losses in human lives, properties, and other financial costs. An embedded machine learning-based system is developed to address this critical issue. The system can monitor road conditions, detect driving patterns, and identify aggressive driving behaviors. The system is based on neural networks trained on a comprehensive dataset of driving events, driving styles, and road conditions. The system effectively detects potential risks and helps mitigate the frequency and impact of accidents. The primary goal is to ensure the safety of drivers and vehicles. Collecting data involved gathering information on three key road events: normal street and normal drive, speed bumps, circular yellow speed bumps, and three aggressive driving actions: sudden start, sudden stop, and sudden entry. The gathered data is processed and analyzed using a machine learning system designed for limited power and memory devices. The developed system resulted in 91.9% accuracy, 93.6% precision, and 92% recall. The achieved inference time on an Arduino Nano 33 BLE Sense with a 32-bit CPU running at 64 MHz is 34 ms and requires 2.6 kB peak RAM and 139.9 kB program flash memory, making it suitable for resource-constrained embedded systems.

- 1. Lean Manufacture Systems Approach To Identify & Reducing Waste on Metal Casting SMEs Sulung rahmawan wira ghani Universitas Pesantren Tinggi Darul Ulum Summary All kind of wastes which happen in small and medium enterprises (SME) are something that must be eliminated to reach effective and efficient business process. Waiting waste in small and medium enterprises (SME) business process is kind of waste which is always faced in production operation process of aluminum casting company. Feeling of having high waiting waste makes this progressive SME must do improvement in business performance process. To reduce waiting waste which happens in business process of this SME used Lean Manufacturing approach. Steps which have to be done to reduce waste waiting consists of describing condition of system by using Big Picture Mapping, identifying the most significant waste by using VALSAT, pie diagram, searching the cause of critical waste by using RCA and FMEA, and the last step is determining the best alternative to reduce waste waiting with analyzing the highest risk score of RPN. The result which is obtained shows that in production process has high waiting waste. Percentage of VA is 26% and NVA is 74%. This indicates that still many activities don’t add use value in production process of SME. To solve that waste is proposed to use alternative improvement of production activities, giving label on tools and utilization management of production process tools. Those are proposed which are adjusted with problem in business process of SME. Key words: SME, VALSAT, waste, VA, NVA, RCA, FMEA, RPN
