• It ain’t as bad as you think. It will look better in the
morning.
• Get mad, then get over it.
• Avoid having your ego so close to your position that
when your position falls, your ego goes with it. It ain’t
about you.”
• It can be done. (If you know what “ it” is.)
• Don’t be Afraid to Challenge the Pros, Even in their
own backyard.
• Share the credit.
• Being Responsible Sometimes Means Pissing People

Leadership: Some Things I have learned
• Take Care of your people – mentor … help them with their problems.
• Listen to your people – they are the SMEs
• Respond to all inquiries, “Expeditiously” even if you don’t
know the answer.
– This applies to everyone – Not just the people in charge
– One of the Biggest Morale & Productive problems – People Don’t Respond!
• If you don’t know the answer, don’t blow smoke!, Tell them
you don’t know and that you will get back to them.
– Follow though. Don’t hope they will forget, They won’t.
• Be available when your people need you.
• Don’t just tell them - tell them why.
• Have an open door policy.
• Walk around and listen – its amazing what you can

Leadership: Some Things I have learned
• Work with people of different backgrounds, looking at a
solution in different ways is good and profitable
• Just because its always been done that way, doesn’t mean it
can’t be done better another way
• Working with different personality types – Myers Briggs
training is good (my opinion)
– People think and feel different than you do (Yes it really is so!)
– Understand the different personalities, this is difficult, but it is a must!
