The identification of personal values and the development of personal visioning skills are always highlights of The Leadership Challenge Workshop. However, as articulating organizational values and vision are fundamental to building a robust and healthy culture, a gap often exists in making explicit links between individual and group understanding of these fundamental concepts. In this interactive session, we will demonstrate how to better connect personal fluency to a coherent set of organizational values and vision. We will share examples from the field as well as practical tools to put these links into action in any organization.
Dan Schwab began working with authors Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner in the early days of The Leadership Challenge® Workshop and is now a Certified Master. Evans Kerrigan is an experienced facilitator and trainer with over 20 years working with leaders across a range of industries. He helps clients become Healthier Organizations by applying The Five Practices with individual leaders as well as working with those leaders to see how they can apply the model more broadly to their organizational culture. He is a Certified-Master-in-Training.
This session will engage participants in ways to fully leverage the LPI® to drive behavior change in workshop participants and culture change in the organizations they lead. Beyond interpretation of the results, themes, and development plans, we’ll explore techniques to go deeper with individuals. In addition to sharing our own insights and experience, we’ll facilitate table discussions and best practice sharing on topics such as powerful questions, tapping into genuine motivation, dealing with resistance, and ways to reinforce behavior change.

In this book, Marshall Goldsmith begins by examining the trouble with
success, explaining how previous accomplishments often prevent leaders
from gaining more success. He analyzes why high achievers are so resistant
to change due to their delusion of success, pointing out that they can’t see
that what got them here won’t get them there.
These are people who do one annoying thing repeatedly on the job and don’t realize that this small flaw may sabotage their otherwise golden career. Worse yet, they do not realize that it’s happening and that they can fix it. Goldsmith details the 20 habits that hold you back from the top rung of the corporate ladder. In his experience, these are the most irritating interpersonal issues in the workplace. For each habit, he gives examples
and practical solutions you can implement. He then describes the 21st habit, which stands separate from the other 20 habits –– not because it is a flaw, but because it is often the root of an annoying behavior.
Finally, Goldsmith addresses the problem of how you can change your interpersonal relationships for the better, and ensure that you make your behavioral changes permanent.
This summary reveals how you can identify which of these 20 habits apply to you, and how to choose the one or two you should focus on.
In addition, you will learn:
The four key beliefs that make you successful but also resistant to change.
Why the higher you go, the more your problems are behavioral.
Why the 21st habit, goal obsession, may be the most destructive of all.
How to get good 360-degree feedback from your colleagues on your own.
How to overcome special challenges if you’re the one in charge at the workplace.
Filipino corporate trainer and motivational speaker in the Philippines, Mr. Myron Sta. Ana talks about the basics or essentials of being a leader by enumerating the characteristics that people have to possess in order to lead others effectively

Experiments indicate that trial-and-error problem solving helped groups outperform other groups who made fewer errors, when transferring the skills learned during the acquisition phase to a new related task. (Journal of European Journal of Behavior Analysis, 2010)
Resilient people are distinctive in part in their use of positive emotions to overcome negative arousal, but more importantly - they find positive meaning in negative experiences. (NIH, 2011)
Resilience is associated with longevity, lower rates of depression, and greater life satisfaction. Even in a stressful situation, by prompting yourself to reframe emotions – considering for example what positive qualities you’ll bring to the situation, you give yourself a greater sense of control. (Harvard Health, 2016)
A meta-analysis of mindset research found that those with a learning mindset (a belief that human traits are malleable and learnable), were significantly more likely to engage in goal oriented behaviors and strategies linked to improved performance than those with a more fixed mindset. (David Yeager, PhD, U. of Austin, 2017)
According to health research, suffering has been shown to be a catalyst for growth, meaning, and compassion; the latest science shows this is especially true when we choose to view suffering in these ways. (Kelly McGonigal PhD, Stanford University, 2015)

Resist the urge to stay in that place of ‘funk’ or feeling of failure. Learn and move on !
Focus on what is in your control only - that you can fix – leave the rest.
Positive self-care and a healthy work life balance all contribute to a faster recovery after a set-back.
Hang around people with a positive mindset and those who genuinely wants you to succeed. Stay away from all others.
