This document discusses leadership and the roles of community leaders in community health programs. It defines leadership as enabling individuals to guide and direct community members to enact change. There are two types of leaders: formal leaders who are appointed and have official roles, and informal leaders who are respected community members. The roles of community leaders in health programs include acting as gatekeepers, motivators, communicators, planners, and facilitators. Community health workers also act as agents of change by promoting health and raising awareness of health problems and diseases. Health educators must identify leaders and establish relationships to gain their support in motivating communities.
