transparency, genuineness and honesty.
Authentic leaders build authentic
relationships and inspire trust and
motivation in their employees” (Kruse,
2013).

3. What is Relational Leadership?
 “Relational leadership is a model of leadership that
suggests the effectiveness of a leader and relates
their ability to develop positive relationships within
an organization. It also relates to the process of
people working together to achieve the greater good
or accomplish a positive change in the workplace”

Counselor

9. Scenario #1 Authentic Leadership
A high school counselor is leading a professional
development exercise for the faculty. During this exercise,
all staff are one green sticky note and one blue sticky note.
On the blue note, everyone was asked to write what they
would like to see change in their class. On the green sticky
note, everyone was asked to write what they would like to
continue in their classroom. At the end, the faculty was
asked to place their sticky notes onto two separate posters.
All answers are anonymous, and will be reviewed by
administration, counselors and instructional coaches.

High School Counselor

11. Scenario #2 Relational Leadership
 On the last Monday of a six-week grading period, the
school counselors invite the school staff to complete an
online form for a sweet treat. Everyone has the whole
week to select their treat. On the following Monday,
during the last two periods of the day, the individual
treats are delivered to everyone who participated. Each
sweet treat is wrapped and labeled with a statement of
appreciation.
