LEAD ACID STORAGE BATTERY
INTRODUCTION
• The battery which uses sponge lead and lead peroxide for the conversion
of the chemical energy into electrical power, such type of battery is called
a lead acid battery. The lead acid battery is most commonly used in the
power stations and substations because it has higher cell voltage and
lower cost. Lead acid batteries are used as a power source for vehicles
that demand a constant and uninterruptible source of energy. In India the
lead acid battery market is projected to reach 7.6 billion US dollars by
2023.Anticipated growth in the market can be attributed to booming
demand for automobiles and in addition to it the government is focused
on the increase in production of electric vehicles in the country. Moreover,
development of smart grids, continuing technological developments,
increasing budget allocation for housing projects and government
initiatives aimed at shifting the focus from conventional sources to
renewables in India is further expected to positively influence the
country’s lead acid battery market in the coming years. In our company we
buy the raw materials from the market and manufacture the battery and
directly sells it to the consumer.
ADVANTAGES
• Wide ranges of sizes and specification
available
• Zero maintenance operations
• Long-life without maintenance
• All requisite quality tests conducted for
products supplied
• Customized packaging
• Cost effective product
USES
• Uses in inverter
• In CPU’s
• In automobiles
• It can also use as a battery bank
MARKETING STRATEGIES
• Social media marketing:one of the fine and easiest
method of marketing. Nowadays most of all are active
in social medias so it must be a good marketing idea to
reach the product to peoples.
• Newspaper:Newspaper advertising can promote your
business to a wide range of customers. Display
advertisements are placed throughout the paper, while
classified listings are under subject headings in a
specific section. You may find that a combination of
advertising in your state/metropolitan newspaper and
your local paper gives you the best results.
• Magazine: Advertising in a specialist magazine can
reach your target market quickly and easily. Readers
(your potential customers) tend to read magazines at
their leisure and keep them for longer, giving your
advertisement multiple chances to attract attention.
• Television:Television has an extensive reach and
advertising this way is ideal if you cater to a large
market in a large area. Television advertisements have
the advantage of sight, sound, movement and colour
to persuade a customer to buy from you. They are
particularly useful if you need to demonstrate how
your product or service works
• Providing Warranty:We provide 1 year
warranty for the battery
RAW MATERIALS
The Raw materials required to produce Lead-
acid battery is bought from suppliers in India
itself. The main raw materials required are
1. Battery plates are used to form the positive
and negative terminals.
2. Sulphuric acid is used as the Electrolyte.
3. The Separator is used to separate positive
and negative terminals.
4. A Container is needed to enclose the entire
system.
5. Lead is needed for welding purposes.
6. Bitumen is needed to reduce leakage of
electrolytes from the cell.
7. Battery Cap is used as spark arresters.
MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT
1. Melting Pot
2. Dies
3.Welding Equipment
4.LPG Cylinder with Regulator
5. Oxygen Cylinder
6. Compressor
7. Water Distillation Machine
TESTING EQUIPMENT
1. Battery Tester
2. Resistance/Capacitive Discharge tester
3.Hydrometer
4. Temperature meter
5. Battery charger
LAND AND BUILDING REQUIREMENTS
The Land required to set up our production unit has
to be purchased. We plan to purchase 20 cents of
land in the Ernakulam district of Kerala preferably
at a place far away from the town. The location is
easily accessible for transport purposes.
The total area is divided for different purposes as
follows Total land = 800 sq. mt
Build up area = 650 sq. mt
Office and store = 150 sq. mt
Assembly and testing = 200 sq. m
LABOUR REQUIRED
• We will require a total of 15 employees which
includes both skilled and unskilled Laborer. We
require 6 top-level Employees and we will be
employing 9 workers of whom 5 are skilled. The
number of employees is as follows
1. Manager - 1
2. Engineer – 3
3. Sales Executive – 2
4. Skilled Workers – 5
5. Workers - 4
LICENSE
• Most businesses in India are started as
proprietorships or partnership firms, without any
registration from the Central Government. The
Ministry of Corporate Affairs regulates the
registration of a company and LLP.
• GST REGISTRATION:All types of entities and
individuals who have an aggregate annual
turnover of more than Rs.20 lakhs in most State
and Rs.10 lakhs in Special Category States are
required to obtain GST Registration
• SHOP AND ESTABLISHMENT ACT LICENSE: “The Shop and
Establishments Act”, was created for regulating the conduct
of business like the hours of work, child labor, payment of
wages, safety and general health of the employees. Shop
and Establishment Act license or registration is issued by
the State Governments and varies from States
• STATE POLLUTION CONTROL BOARDS (SPCB):There are
State Pollution Control Boards at various state capitals of
the country to advise respective state governments to
control and protect environment. State Pollution Control
Board (SPCB) Every existing and new industry is required to
obtain the authorization from the State Pollution Control
Board (SPCB) to commence the business further
ECONOMIC ASPECTS
