Spastic Diplegia Research Paper
Haley Hereld
Spastic Diplegia
Introduction Spastic Diplegia can briefly be described as a form of Cerebral Palsy that affects the
lower extremities. It is a neurological condition that appears early in life. I chose to do my research
over this condition because of a very special little girl in my life named Brenna. Right before
Brenna turned three years old she was officially diagnosed with Spastic Diplegia. This was a
diagnosis I had never heard of so when I began researching and found that Spastic Diplegia was a
type of Cerebral Palsy I was confused because Brenna does not portray the characteristics of other
Cerebral Palsy patients I have witnessed before. I have, since then, learned that there are different
types of Cerebral Palsy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A person with this diagnosis will see a variety of health care providers throughout their life.
Some of these may be Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Neurologists. Physical
Therapists will help each patient to learn how to be as functional as possible with their
condition. Many patients will have to walk with an assistive device or even wear a leg brace.
Gait training is very important for patients with Spastic Diplegia. Patients that are diagnosed
with Spastic Diplegia can have complete paralysis or muscle weakness in both lower
extremities. This often results in asymmetries on the right or left lower extremity. Therefore,
when a person with Spastic Diplegia walks they will repeat movements irregularly, and this can
lead to them developing secondary disabilities. 6(p1) A person with Spastic Diplegia can expect
to see a Physical Therapist on and off for their life due to the fact that physical therapy can help
them in so many different ways. Some doctors are prescribing certain medications, such as
muscle relaxers, to help with spastic muscles or even giving their patients Botox injections in the
tight muscles. This is a form of treatment that Brenna is now undergoing. The Botox shot is
injected into the tight muscles and is supposed to help these muscles be able to relax. The words
Cerebral Palsy and Spastic Diplegia can be very scary when they are used to diagnose somebody

Roofing Research
Calculating the quantity of materials needed for a roofing job can be complicated, especially if
the roof is complex. It can also be dangerous; some roofs are so complex that the only way to get
an accurate estimate is to climb onto the roof and measure each plane separately. In addition to
determining the quantity of shingles, you must also determine how much underlayment, drip edge,
flashing and other products will be required. For all of these reasons, it is best to have a
professional roofing contractor determine the materials needed for the job. However, if you are just
trying to get a rough estimate, the following information may help.
Definition of Terms
Before continuing, it might be helpful to define certain terms used.

You will need at least 14.756 squares of roofing. However, you should add about 10 percent for
starter strips, valleys, waste and hip and ridge.
Estimating Materials Based on Actual Measurements
Measuring each roof plane requires you to actually go onto your roof. If your roof has a number
of planes and numerous hips, ridges and valleys, this is the most accurate way to calculate the
materials needed. Take a metal tape measure and a pen and paper. Measure each plane s length and
width. Record your measurements. Once you are safely on the ground, use your measurements to
determine the square footage.
For rectangular areas, multiply the length by the width. For example, if a plane measures 30 feet
by 100 feet, this would be 3,000 square

Response To Intervention Essay
RTI, is an acronym that has become commonly used in education after No Child Left Behind was
implemented, but what does that acronym mean? Brown Chidsey and Steege quoted Dave Tilly, a
school psychologist, as saying that RTI actually means really terrific instruction! RTI is defined
differently in different states. Some would argue it is Response to Intervention, while others say
that it means Response to Instruction. Brown Chidsey and Steege state that whether you say
intervention or instruction, it does not matter; the importance is that teachers use scientific based
teaching that responds to students learning.
There are several benefits of RTI. First, according to the Nebraska RTI website, research states that

According to the National Center on RTI website, the first step a district needs to take to begin RTI
is to access the needs of the district and gather information on RTI. If RTI meets the needs of the
district, then an action plan should be developed. The district should form a leadership team that
consists of an administrator, general education teacher, special education teacher, and school
psychologist. Next, a universal screener should be adopted. This screener, for example, DIBELS,
should be administered three times a year. Also, professional development should be planned to
assist with the understanding of how RTI works and how the data will drive instruction.
According to the ESU10 RTI website, RTI is an educational service delivery system designed to
provide effective instruction for all students using a comprehensive and preventive problem solving
approach. RTI is a three tiered method of instructional delivery to meet the needs of most students.
The three tiers consist of the core, targeted, and intensive. The tiers represent instructional supports.
Tier one is the utilization of a researched based core instruction program. The district should
implement a universal screener to check for students learning. The goal is for districts to achieve at
least eighty percent of students meeting benchmark. If the student does not meet benchmark, then

Personal Narrative-The Life Of A MSP Airport Fire-Fighter
The Life of a MSP Airport Fire Fighter I woke up after, what felt like, 4 hours of sleep. I regretted
not going to bed at a decent hour the night before, because as soon as my alarm went off, I
instantly wanted to hit the snooze button. I headed out the door, a quarter after 6 AM, and with
the dark skies and chilly breeze, it really had me frazzled on how it was supposed to turn out to
be a beautiful day. As I headed North on 35W, I arrived at the fire station, in Minneapolis, around
7:45 AM. I called Firemen Kevin Taaffe from my car. Kevin has been a family friend of ours
since I was born, he used to babysit me and now in return I babysit his children. He met me in the

For example, Kevin worked Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday therefore he would have
Monday Thursday off of the next week. Then he would start back up his shift on Friday.
Throughout the whole fire department there were three different shifts. After I understood how
the shifts worked, I noticed on the whiteboard that different firemen were going to be on
different shifts, once the new year came around. I asked Captain Randy Slezak later, when I
interviewed him, How is your relationship with the other firefighters? Thinking back to the
whiteboard and the new shifts, he explained how the new shifts were decided and how
relationships were built. Every year they did shift bids, this included choosing what station they
wanted to go to. This explained how the firemen knew each other so well, even if they were on
different shifts or at a different station. Captain R. Slezak explained, Over the years you get placed
with almost all of the guys. You get to know them, then shifts change, and you don t see them as
often, but you can see them again with backfill or overtime

Northern California Transportation System
Introduction
The state of California is home to notorious fault lines such as the infamous San Andreas fault. In
Northern California, there are six significant Bay Area active faults: Calaveras, Concord Green
Valley, Greenville, Hayward, Rodgers Creek, and San Gregorio Fault [1]. After the Loma Prieta
earthquake of 1989, propagating from the Santa Cruz Mountains, caused approximately $6 Billion
dollars in damages [2]. Many infrastructure agencies altered their design and operations standards
to prepare themselves for the next major earthquake. The Bay Area Rapid Transit system (BART)
and The Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG E) have made changes so above and below ground

The program continuously searches for different types of failure including corrosion, third party
damage, weld vulnerability and earth movement damage [6]( Lee et al. 3). This is to ensure the
safety of society and to have a list of the pipeline segments which require a higher level of
attention than others. In a similar fashion the Integrity Management Program has integrated the
use of software such as the geographic information system (GIS) for their Gas Transmission
Earthquake Plan and Response Procedure. GIS has the ability to map PG E s gas line
infrastructure in real time with the likelihood of failure. With the use of GIS, a response algorithm
is created that uses known parameters such as soil, geographic, and topographic conditions.
Possible scenarios are then constructed to map potential hazards and anomalies to PG E s pipeline

School Lunch Essay
Skipping Dessert
When I was younger, I vividly remember the vast amount of delicious food that was offered every
day in my school lunchroom. The food that I use to describe as good food, I am beginning to
undoubtedly recognise for the unhealthy junk that it actually is. There are countless others who
also notice how horrible these foods are to feed children in school cafeterias. Today, those same
cafeterias are tremendously different from the ones I remember from when I was little, and they are
always continuously changing. The amount of options we are offered have not lessened, they have
simply changed. Instead of having the option to purchase nachos, we now are given the option of
baked fries. Also, instead of having a dessert of an innutritious brownie, we now are given a large
variety of sweet fruits to choose from instead. While some students distinguish these changes as a
catastrophe, I can understand the importance of having students skip dessert during a school lunch.
Allowing the NSLP to regulate what is served in school lunches would help parents trust that their
children would be getting healthier foods at school, help to combat the epidemic of obesity and
malnutrition in the United States, and assist in educating children on healthy diet choices.
In the article School Lunches , the author discusses whether or not the government s National
School Lunch Program (NSLP) should be allowed to regulate what is served in school lunches.

Summary Of On Natural Death By Lewis Thomas
On Natural Death
In his essay On Natural Death , research pathologist, medical doctor, and biologist Lewis Thomas
attempts to console the reader about the weighty topic of death by referencing his own
observations, citing scientific facts and statistics, and using the universal fear and unknown of
eternal rest. Thomas first points to the example of the unforeseen death of an elm tree in his own
backyard. The death of an inanimate lifeform is something with which most people are familiar and
probably even comfortable. This first hand experience displays a situation in which death is quick
and free of pain. It also shows how quickly death can tranpire; in this situation, the tree appeared
to be in perfect health just a week before its sudden passing. The story of a dying mouse displays
Thomas s own sorrow at the demise of a fellow mammal and former participant in life. The reader
is naturally brought to empathize with Thomas s sentiments by his use of firsthand emotions and
experiences. Thomas even calls upon the reader to understand the feelings of the mouse itself by
describing what the experience likely felt to the mouse painless to the extent that the mouse is
inclined to shrug. Another of his observations is that of two soldiers unfortunate fatalities after
being in a mortal automobile accident. This example brings the reality of death even closer to the
reader, as this time the it is experienced by human beings not unlike the reader. This situation is
akin to that

My Experience Of Music
Music isn t just what I do, it is who I am. I ve been surrounded by music ever since I remember.
One of my earliest memories is of my mom playing piano for my family, something she often did
throughout my childhood. Time and time again, her simple melodies echoed through our cozy
house and as I stood next to her, watching her hands, they also started to resonate in my heart.
Even in those early years, I knew that I loved music. From then on, I took every opportunity I
could to make music. I started taking piano lessons and joined church choir in third grade.
However, that wasn t enough for me, and I knew I would always want more music. I had this
thirst for music that I couldn t quench, and every opportunity I got just left me wanting more. This
is why the day I got to pick out my band instrument was such a big day for me.
It was May 15th and I woke up ready to have a good day. After so many years of waiting and
watching concerts from the audience, it was finally my turn to pick out an instrument and start
band or orchestra something I had been dreaming of for what seemed like an eternity.
As I got to school that day, I could see the excitement and anticipation on my friend s faces, as I
learned that they too were excited for band the next year. Perfect! Today s the day that I can talk on
and on about music without people thinking I m weird! Chatter about the day we got to try out the
instruments filled the fourth grade classrooms as everyone finalized their crucial

The demographics of the people around the location play a large part in which city the event

Terrorism and Riots in Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland is known for its humor, its accent, beautiful green hills, and their weather.
Although Ireland seems peaceful, more violence happens in the north then you would think. There
is terrorism and riots by the IRA used to prevent the British Catholics from trying to change the
island of Irelandto a catholic country. All this violence started with the Act of Union over 200 years
ago.
In Ireland and Great Britain in 1801, the British and Irish governments passed the Act of Union,
combining Ireland and England. During the next two hundred years the islands of Ireland and Great
Britain will change with war, terrorism, and riots in Northern Ireland. During the mid 1800 s the
Irish potato famine broke out, more than one million died and more than two million were displaced.
In 1914 World War One began and British Parliament passed laws making Ireland partially free.
Two years later on Easter Sunday a giant revolt happens that would later be named Easter Rising .
In 1945 World War Two ended. Eleven years after the Second World War ended the Irish
Republican Army, a paramilitary group, began. The IRA formed after a suppressed rebellion
fought for independence. Ireland was split in two parts and twenty six counties. During the 20
year period after the beginning of the IRA, there had been no stop to the violence. This time will
be forever known as The Troubles.

Spilt Avocado Painting Analysis
The recreation of The Spilt Avocado Painting I viewed online is what I chose to recreate because
the image captured my eye due to the shadows that appear from the top light within the painting.
While looking at the painting you can see yourself staring in the direction the reflecting shadows
from the top light. The sources of the light coming from the left of the avocado forces the shadow
to overlap on top of the other slice, which ultimately draws the observer s attention to the colour of
the avocado. Although you might notice the colour of the avocado at first, the shadows indicate a
calming mood due to the placement of the light. Additionally, the shadow is showing the direction
of light, which is coming from which effects the shade of greenthe avocado might appear. This...

Having to use an actual avocado to model and remake of this painting had its challenges. In

picture recreation by the placement of my desk lamp and by having my picture based on a white

direction I placed the light to create the same shadows from the painting. The challenging part
about using a desk lamp was trying to figure out the right distance I needed to direct the light at
the avocados to achieve the same shadows. In addition, to the challenging things with the process
of remaking the painting was to attain the same position of the avocado to be able to capture the

Analysis Of Princess Mononoke And The Classic...
Throughout the progression of civilization, technological advancements have always occurred at
the expense of altering and harming the environment; so much so that one of the five types of
conflict highlighted in literary writing is human vs. nature. One such story that addresses this
conflict is Princess Mononoke by Japanese storyteller Hiyao Miyazaki. Although appearing to be a
simple animated children s tale of a boy thrown into a fight between spiritual beings and the human
civilization that threatens to encroach upon their territory, Miyazaki delves into an utterly complex
commentary on the consequences technological advancements have on its surroundings. Unlike
other more mainstream examples from film such as Disney s Pocahontas, James Cameron s Avatar,
and the classic Soylent Green, however, Miyazaki chooses not to take a side as he highlights the
benevolence of the people that are destroying nature, while forcing the viewer to sympathize with
the nature spirits plight simultaneously. Refraining from dealing in absolutes, Princess Mononoke s
subject matter develops more nuanced critiques that allow the viewer to craft their own opinions.
While Miyazaki chooses not to reach any concrete resolution on how to fix the problems that may
arise, he offers a legitimate warning that balance is crucial beyond measure; a balance unattained,
even after nearly two decades have passed since the film s release. To reach a consensus on
resolutions to the ongoing crises that

Congressional Era Of Reconstruction During Post Civil War...
Failure is simply an opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.
Henry Ford. This was the Southern optimist s view of what the results of post Civil War
Reconstruction could be. Unfortunately, once the Congressional era of Reconstruction began, this
view was squandered under federal punishment of the South. This policy led to strained relations
between Congress and the ex Confederate states. The difference of opinion was over how harshly
the South should be punished for leaving the Union. The South wanted to be readmitted with as
little friction as possible, so they sided with the Democrats, like Robert E. Lee, and Moderate
Republicans. Congress on the other hand, being mostly controlled by Radical Republicans, believed

One explicit difference of policy was over the use of troops to put the South into military
districts that were under martial law and putting Northern Generals over Southern troops. As
historian S. Chase said in the Democratic National Committee of 1873 There should have been
as little military government as possible. This policy was even more harshly debated because
these troops were there to enforce a law that the Southerners were not ever able to vote on until
they were forced to vote for it if they wanted to rejoin the United States, which they had to do
because they lost the Civil War. This force, both physically and ideologically, seemed very out of
place in a country that claimed to be the land of the free, and even more out of place since it was a
Democracy. This ideological difference between Southerners and Congress has been a major point
of contention in discussions about Reconstruction policy since it was put into practice.
Another point of policy disagreement can be seen in how representation in the South would be
handled. In accordance with Congressional Reconstruction, certain classes of ex Confederates,
such as the class that Robert E. Lee was in, were excluded from being granted their suffrage . This
was an outrage to Southerners for two reasons. The first is that the certain classes being exempted
from regaining their suffrage were the highest part of the upper class and the people of high rank
from the ex Confederate

Common law has roots in the English system of law, it developed in England following the
Norman conquest of A.D. 1066, which became Common Law which was the body of the legal
decision that were made by the English court judges. This law started out was an oral law
decision making that resulted in the court judges walking around the country that would go
town to town to try cases. This was the nicknamed the unwritten law which resulted in the oral
law that served as the precedent for deciding successive cases with the same type of facts, and
this lead to the doctrine called star decisis which meant to stand by a decision which was
previously decided. This doctrine was the one that gave way to a rule that prior law decision made
was to be followed, unless it is turned over with a new rule established if there is no good reason to
do so. So in terms that are easy to understand, if society changes can decide that if a precedent is
no longer valid, a court of law may decide that a precedent is simply incorrect and will adjust
accordingly.
Common law refers to that law

Fascism American Style Summary
Fallacy Analysis of New York Times Article Titled: Fascism, American Style , by Paul Krugman
Have you ever thought to look for fallacies in news articles? You may be surprised at how many
that you can find. Fallacies are incorrect forms of thinking or false or mistaken ideas

This analysis will explain fallacies found in an article from the New York Times, entitled Fascism,
American Style by Paul Krugman, explain the author s argument, conclusion, and how the author

A formal fallacy is a flaw in structure or form that is typically a matter of invalidity, where A is
then B, and B therefore A, affirming the consequence, or A is then B (Miller, 2017). In Krugman s
argument, he describes what he says that Arpaio did was racial discrimination and described Arpaio
as a white supremisist. In fact Arpaio was convicted of criminal contempt because he violated a
court order to stop detaining suspected undocumented immigrants. Krugman claims that because of
that conviction, that means that Arpaio was racially discriminating against Latinos, and that it also
means that he is a white supremisist. He shows the formal fallacy in that he refers to Arpaio s
conviction as being for racial discrimination, and then writes that would mean that Arpaio is a white

The Challenge Of Facts By Samuel Graham Sumner
Samuel Graham Sumner wrote The Challenge of facts, and Walter Rauschenbusch wrote
Christianizing the Social Order in the early twentieth century that interconnect on themes present in
human society. Vice and virtue are commonly referred to as one relationship, while capitalism is
frequently referred to as a separate relationship, and they are constantly compared. Sumner starts his
essay out by explaining how socialism has been around forever. It can be visibly seen throughout
cultures, and societies throughout history from different time periods and different regions.
Socialism s roots essentially come from when man kind can portray harsh facts about human
society. Sumner s first example are homeless people. Obviously, the fact... Show more content on

He views this as a challenge because nature can give man the necessities, but each man is
burdened with the fact that he needs to succeed. Man can only succeed in life if one relies on
nature and man. Monogamous marriage and and dedicated family allows a man to become
respectable in society and tend more than any other forces to hold the individual up to the virtues
which make the sound man (Sumner, 19). The relationship between vice and virtue is explained
thoroughly. A human s race cannot be changed throughout life, which is essentially a vice for
some but a virtue for others. For some it is a penalty and for others it is a reward. That is just the
way life works, and these are harsh facts that humans have to accept everyday and in every
relationship. Preference, superiority, selection and devotion keep monogamous marriage a social
institution. Clearly, marriage degenerates when these characteristic traits are not present. In order
to have a true monogamous marriage, a man would have to mark the woman he married as
superior. However, this cannot be implicitly true. It is evident that some people should not be
parents, and should not raise children so there are clearly some flaws in this relationship among
society in these social institutions. In the relationship between children and parents, there are vices
but also virtues. Children have to deal with the consequences of their parents wrongdoings in
society; however, they are also

Extrinsic Rewards
Week four discussion board requires an answer to three questions. First, distinguish between
extrinsic and intrinsic rewards. Second, explain the four building blocks of the intrinsic rewards
and motivation. The final question is how does your organization motivate and rewards their
employees with examples. According to our assigned MBA 6000 book, extrinsic rewards are
financial, materialistic and social. Intrinsic rewards are psychic rewards because they are self
granted. The four building blocks of the intrinsic rewards and motivationare, leading for
meaningfulness, leading for choice, leading for competence and leading for progress. Leading
for meaningfulness is when managers inspire their employees and model the way. Model the
way is how a leader can show how to act in order to reach a desired behavior. An example of this
would be wearing the uniform properly while maintaining a professional image. Leading for
choice is where managers delegate a task and empower their employees. An example of this would
be assigning a subordinate a project where they can learn new skills while adding success to their
resume. Leading for competence is where... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the extrinsic awards I used was in awarding my best recruiter with an Air Force football
helmet in a glass case. The helmet also had little stickers that represented the number of people
recruited. Another reward was a two handed sword replica with wall mount and engraving marking
the achievement. For intrinsic rewards, I recognized my employees with sincere praise and the
delegation of a training task. For example; when one of my recruiters nailed a classroom
presentation I would have that recruiter put together a presentation for the rest of the recruiters.
This definitely had a positive effect as each person wanted their time in the

Pauline Greig s Life And Life
Pauline Greig was born in 1934 to a Protestant family. She grew up with 5 siblings in Cygnet,
Tasmania and married Robert Greig in 1960 when she was 26. I was first introduced to Pauline
by my mum. In 2011, working as a nurse, she treated her husband Robert in hospital as he was
recovering from surgery. Pauline was staying with Robert in his recovery room when she noticed
the necklace my mum was wearing around her neck. It had the little infant Jesus on one side and
Mary on the other. They then discovered and connected with each other through our shared faith,
Catholicism. When we moved to our new house in Macgregor we began attending Mass at St

You Can Use Meditation To Deepen Your Spirituality Essay
You can use meditation to deepen your spirituality. Very many practice it to have better health, both
physical and mental. But you can use it also to deepen your spirituality.
Deepening Your Spirituality
The origins of meditation have been mostly religious, especially religion as practiced in the
monasteries. Monks and nuns, both in Christian and non Christian groups, like Buddhism, are still
the ones who professedly practice meditation on a daily basis for long periods of time, even hours.
Some who have practiced it have experienced the beneficial effects this practice has brought to
them and so have encouraged to use this exercise to improve their physical and mental health.
But you can use meditation to also deepen your spirituality. By deepening your spirituality I mean
that you will have a broader grasp of spiritual realities. You may come to realize that it is not only
human persons who have a spiritual side to their nature but even the animals and plants have also a
spiritual dimension. At present this is not widely accepted because of the Aristotelian model most
learned in school that living things are made up only of matter and form, or body and soul. ... Show

Aesthetic Expression
Aesthetic Expression is addressed in the power point presentation in lesson one. In this presentation,
the students are given insight into the song and its origin so that they may understand and
appreciate the culture that it represents. By giving a brief history into the musical aspect the culture
and showing how it benefits daily life, studentwill be encouraged to use music to express
themselves. They should also develop respect and appreciation for their own culture and musical
genres.
Citizenship is addressed in the choice of song. The text to the song is in Spanish, a foreign
language that is a connection to the core curriculum of music. By using a piece that is not of their
own culture, the students will expand their knowledge of multiculturalism while it deepens their
understanding of the contributions other cultures have made into developing and defining our own.
Explaining the similarities and differences of the Spanish culture to ours will also foster a deeper
understanding of our own cultural identity and our heritage. This explanation will also take place in

Lincoln s Attempt To Support D Estaing
American forces in the south, between 5,000 and 7,000 men, were based at Charleston under the
command of General Benjamin Lincoln. Lincoln recognized that he would need assistance from
the French navy and army to retake Savannah. On September 3, he learned that the French forces
under the command of Admiral Comte d Estaing were en route to Savannah, bringing with them
ships of the line and 4,000 soldiers. On September 11, Lincoln marched out of Charleston with
2,000 Continentals to link up with d Estaing. Arriving first, d Estaing began offensive operations
to take the city. He initially offered Prevost an opportunity to surrender, but Prevost demurred,
hoping that reinforcements would arrive. He was given twenty four hours. This reprieve would
prove in the end to be pivotal, as 1,000 men arrived to support Prevost s force just as Lincoln
arrived to support d Estaing. The Allied forces, when fully assembled, numbered near 7,000.

bore the brunt of the artillery assault while the defensive positions remained relatively untouched,
so d Estaing eventually agreed to the frontal assault in spite of objections by his officers. He
worried that a protracted siege would take too long and wanted to redeem his glory that had been
tarnished at Newport, Rhode Island. Additionally, hurricane season was moving in and the British

How To Act Without Intention
Maddie Szewczyk
This week at Weil Elementary School I got the opportunity to interact with the kids much more
than I did in the week previous. The other Duquesne student that I am paired with and I assisted the
teacher by passing out papers, helping the kids sound out words, and helping the kids write the
words after sounding them out. I am really enjoying getting to know the kids better in through this
academic setting. Because I am getting to interact with the kids more and more, I am able to look
back and analyze which of my actions are done without intention and which are done with intention.
I believe that it is human nature for people to act without intention more than they act with
intention. This can be for many reasons, but I think that is the case because people tend to be
more concerned about what is of value to themselves, not what is of value to others. As nurses, I
believe that it is our responsibility and duty to act with intention in order to keep the patient at the

Various Trade Measures Affecting Exporters and Importers
The various trade measures affected exporters and importers. The most common type of trade
restriction or intervention measure is the tariff. There are 3 types of tariffs ad valorem, specific
and compound tariffs. However, there is the other most important form of trade restriction or
intervention non tariffs such as quotas, embargoes and sanctions, voluntary export restraints, buy
local legislation, export subsidies, anti dumping and countervailing duties safety measures and
administrative and technical regulations. CONTENT Tariff is a scheduled of duties which state
imposes on goods imported or exported. Duty in this case refers to the quantity of money payable
to the resident customs experts when a delivery of goods enters or leaves a country. The duty
applicable in the case of tariffs (and thus the actual revenue accruing) can be worked out of three
ways. пѓ An ad volorem (meaning in amount to the value ) rate of duty is a fixed percentage of
the customs value of a traded item. пѓ Specific rate of duty is a fixed monetary amount per unit of
the traded item. пѓ Compound rate of duty involves both an ad valorem and a specific rate of
duty being applied to the same product. Government impose tariffs for the following reasons:
пѓ Protection of local industry: import tariffs have the outcome of raising the value of imported
products comparative to similar goods produced in the local market. This places foreign producers
at a competitive disadvantage when selling in the resident

Aurobindo s political career lasted only four years, from 1906 to 1910. Though he had been active
behind the scene surveying, organizing and supporting the nationalist cause, ever since his return to
India, especially during his excursions to Bengal.
In 1905 an event occurred that changed the course of Indian history and the freedom movement.
This was the Partition of Bengal by Lord Curzon, known as Banga bhanga, which immediately

This change was affected by the advent of the aggressive nationalist thought of Lokmanya Tilak

The Operating System Linux
3. Linux
3.1 Introduction:
The operating system Linux is an open source version of UNIX [6]. In 1992 [8] Linus Torvalds,
who was a computer science student at the University of Helsinki [6], was the one who started this
operating system.
Linux is used on variety of hardware (e.g. on workstations, mid and high end servers and on
gadgets), which makes it unique [6]. Linux keeps maintaining its position in the market due to the
hard work of both employees and volunteers [6].
Previously, UNIX systems used batch jobs, which run a process until it is finished and then the next
process will run [8]. What UNIX used is known as non preemptive scheduling [8]. After years,
preemptive scheduling was used to run processes in parallel by switching between them [8].
3.2 Scheduling Technique: Linux scheduler is based on Time Sharing Scheduling technique [7],
which means It can effectively schedule tasks that have strict timing requirements . The CPU is
divided into small sections, which allows many process to run simultaneously [7]. Time sharing
depends on timer interrupts [7].
3.2 Scheduling Priorities:
The priority ranges differ for real time tasks and normal tasks in Linux scheduler [1]. In real time
tasks: priorities vary from 0 to 99. In normal tasks: processes priorities range from 100 to 139.
Processes who have higher priorities are numerically lower than others [1].
Normal tasks are appointed priorities based on their nice

Economical reasons that drove the Europeans to the New World. He himself did not chew

An example of such, is the Headright System. Since the king ruling at the time wanted to expand
his horizons he began with sending a group of colonizers to the New World. In the past when he
had began to do so, only 20% of the colonizers survived. So with his authority and better
judgment, the King began to give anybody 58 acres to anyone that volunteered to go on the
voyage to the New World Another Social reason is because of the number of Native Americans
decrease do to social events that the European. When Europeans began to trade with the Native
they trade utensils and clothing that had germs and diseases attached that the Natives were not
attached to, so before the colonies came along 1/10 Natives died from natural diseases. When the
europeans came along however the number jump to 8/10 so instead of decimation it had jumped
to octomation. The third reason was because of trade. When the Europeans first settle they traded
money, but when they came across the Natives they traded something of the same worth as stated
above in Economics. So the Indians with the New technology that the Europeans carried over,
started to gain the habits and way of the settlers. Property became a major problem between tribes,

reason is because of the florida Colonization. Juan Ponce de LeГіn in 1513 founded what was

1539 Hernando de Soto began another expedition in search of gold and silver which landed him

infectious diseases, waterborne and foodborne pathogens are all public health concerns and can be
affected by climate change. We can do anything about climatechange it s essentially out of our

Helen was against capital punishment for the reason being that you can not solve murder by
murdering as it will not provide justice. Sister Helen was able to recognize even the deadliest
man as a son of God and that deserved to be loved equally. She did not turn a blind eye to anyone,
even the ones that many claimed did not deserve it. She helped Matthew recognize God... Show

The New Testament call us to protect life, practice mercy, and reject vengeance. For this reason,
the death penalty is a form of hatred and bitterness because it denies mercy and forgiveness for
the prisoners. As Sister Helen stated in the movie, how can you solve murder by murdering? The
governments that enforce the death penalty, violate the international human rights laws in a way
that is hypocritical. The law states that it is illegal to kill, meanwhile, they do the opposite of
what they are enforcing in the country. This clearly shows the cynicism that the death penalty
consists of for by standers and victims. A well known quote an eye for an eye will make the
whole world blind shows how bitter and cynical the death penalty really is. Violence cannot be
fought with more violence. Justice is important, but so is mercy and compassion. No person should
be denied forgiveness and assistance to turn from his

Who Is Victor Frankenstein A Villain
In Frankenstein by Mary Shelly, it is hard to differentiate who is the hero and who is the villain. In
countless stories, it is almost automatically quite easy to distinguish the characteristics between the
hero and the villain. This is not the case in Mary Shelly s novel Frankenstein. In the novel, we meet
Victor Frankensteinand his science experiment gone rogue, the Creature. At first glance into the
novel, many people would debate that the Creature is, in fact, the villain because he had
maliciously murdered Victor Frankenstein s family and closest friends. Of course anyone with a
properly functioning brain would say that the Creature is the bad guy but what some people do not
take into consideration is the Creature s background,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite being gifted with excelling academically, he believes that his beliefs are
indistinguishable to the rules of the world that he must follow. When Victor was young he had
always been curious about life and death, as he got older, his curiosity turned into an obsession.
A new species would bless me as its creator and source; many happy and excellent natures would
owe their being to me. No father could claim the gratitude of his child so completely as I should
deserve theirs (Shelly 4.8). Frankenstein becomes obsessed with science because it helped him
cope with the death of his mother, Caroline, and it is also his breaking point. His emotions
mistakenly lead him to believe that he can have control over the destinies of people s lives if only
he knew how. This is where his obsession develops. Nor could I consider the magnitude and
complexity of my plan as any argument of its impracticability. It was with these feelings that I
began the creation of a human being. (Shelly 4.7). Frankenstein does not take into consideration
about the consequences he may face before he creates the Creature. When Frankenstein beings to
understand the factors to what makes life possible, he uses science in trying to become God and
tries to control these factors. Who shall conceive the horrors of my secret toil, as I dabbled among
the unhallowed damps of the grave, or tortured the living animal, to animate the lifeless clay?

Mexico s Social Class System
There are a plethora of factors that shape a social class system within a specific community. The
bigger the area, like the country of Mexico for example, there are more factors that come into play
when looking at the structure of the social institutions. The main factor I focused my research on
was development in Mexico. Was there a correlation between the development of the country s
economy and social inequalities in Mexico? To understand the links between the economy and the
social sector of Mexico, one has to look at the history of development. It is necessary to analyze
how the underdeveloped economies were linked historically to the world market and how
international social groups defined the relations implicit to underdevelopment... Show more content

The grasp of colonial as widespread as it was held a firm grip on Mexico. Mexico was one of the
many jewels in the crown of Spain. It was founded by the Conqueror to serve the conqueror
(Frank 5). Mexico was a large exporter of silver for the mother country. It was a heavy
contributor for Spain s demand for luxury items as aforementioned in the previous paragraphs.
Mexico s people faced the same oppression and exploitation that most of the third world faced.
Right after the end of colonialism the Mexican economy stagnated and even declined (Cardoso,
Faletto 39). Silver production was half that of the colonial period. This led to the search of loans
(40). However, none of the money borrowed covered the full amount of the expenditures. Great
Britain and the U.S. lent money to Mexico. The lender countries competed for control of the
economy in Mexico. This split Mexico between the liberals (U.S.) and conservatives (Britain). The
implications of the split on the social institutes are

Technology And The Future Of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
The package comes, but there is no deliverer. A tractor is plowing the field after a successful
harvest, but there is no driver. This is the future of technology, and more specifically, unmanned
aerial vehicles. UAVs, more commonly referred to as drones, have been advancing for decades now.
Their advancement has not come without opposition though, and while this argument is
concentrated behind drones role in technologies machination over society, the true reality is a shift
to mechanization, a progression the United Stateshas seen before. Historically, many economic
shifts have affected the US, including the shift from agrarian society to industrialization in the
Gilded Age, periods which allowed the US to dominate the world economy,... Show more content

In addition, farmers who are subject to working conditions along with the simple nature of human
abilities which detract from their ability to inspect a field compared to technology, are eliminated in
UAV practices of inspection. The benefit transfers down the line of agriculturewhen the product
the farmer was able to grow has ended up at the grocery store, and by the same means, the support
for the drones integration is bound to follow.
More acute compared to the agricultural and rural sectors, is the commercial interest of drones
through manufacturers and retailers like Amazon. These have come in headlines labeled as an
innovation and as an intrusion, bringing more opposition than other areas of use. In an article by
Trevir Nath, it is estimated that every year integration is delayed; the US loses $10 billion in
financial growth (Nath 2). This is undermined by the citizens of Syracuse who believe that as the
nation becomes more accustomed to drones...fewer people will oppose their use in war and in
commercial application that intrude upon American s privacy (Semuels 2). Such strong arguments
have came to light because of the growing drone hub in their area. They worry about the local
economy as well, and more importantly jobs. Dave Kashmer, a protestor, falls under the
opposition, and stated It s not going to produce jobs for a Syracusan... These arguments lend to a
primary consequence of a shift to drone technology a job market shift. Syracusans

  • 2. Spastic Diplegia Research Paper Haley Hereld Spastic Diplegia Introduction Spastic Diplegia can briefly be described as a form of Cerebral Palsy that affects the lower extremities. It is a neurological condition that appears early in life. I chose to do my research over this condition because of a very special little girl in my life named Brenna. Right before Brenna turned three years old she was officially diagnosed with Spastic Diplegia. This was a diagnosis I had never heard of so when I began researching and found that Spastic Diplegia was a type of Cerebral Palsy I was confused because Brenna does not portray the characteristics of other Cerebral Palsy patients I have witnessed before. I have, since then, learned that there are different types of Cerebral Palsy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A person with this diagnosis will see a variety of health care providers throughout their life. Some of these may be Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Neurologists. Physical Therapists will help each patient to learn how to be as functional as possible with their condition. Many patients will have to walk with an assistive device or even wear a leg brace. Gait training is very important for patients with Spastic Diplegia. Patients that are diagnosed with Spastic Diplegia can have complete paralysis or muscle weakness in both lower extremities. This often results in asymmetries on the right or left lower extremity. Therefore, when a person with Spastic Diplegia walks they will repeat movements irregularly, and this can lead to them developing secondary disabilities. 6(p1) A person with Spastic Diplegia can expect to see a Physical Therapist on and off for their life due to the fact that physical therapy can help them in so many different ways. Some doctors are prescribing certain medications, such as muscle relaxers, to help with spastic muscles or even giving their patients Botox injections in the tight muscles. This is a form of treatment that Brenna is now undergoing. The Botox shot is injected into the tight muscles and is supposed to help these muscles be able to relax. The words Cerebral Palsy and Spastic Diplegia can be very scary when they are used to diagnose somebody ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Roofing Research Calculating the quantity of materials needed for a roofing job can be complicated, especially if the roof is complex. It can also be dangerous; some roofs are so complex that the only way to get an accurate estimate is to climb onto the roof and measure each plane separately. In addition to determining the quantity of shingles, you must also determine how much underlayment, drip edge, flashing and other products will be required. For all of these reasons, it is best to have a professional roofing contractor determine the materials needed for the job. However, if you are just trying to get a rough estimate, the following information may help. Definition of Terms Before continuing, it might be helpful to define certain terms used. A square ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You will need at least 14.756 squares of roofing. However, you should add about 10 percent for starter strips, valleys, waste and hip and ridge. Estimating Materials Based on Actual Measurements Measuring each roof plane requires you to actually go onto your roof. If your roof has a number of planes and numerous hips, ridges and valleys, this is the most accurate way to calculate the materials needed. Take a metal tape measure and a pen and paper. Measure each plane s length and width. Record your measurements. Once you are safely on the ground, use your measurements to determine the square footage. For rectangular areas, multiply the length by the width. For example, if a plane measures 30 feet by 100 feet, this would be 3,000 square ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to the National Center on RTI website, the first step a district needs to take to begin RTI is to access the needs of the district and gather information on RTI. If RTI meets the needs of the district, then an action plan should be developed. The district should form a leadership team that consists of an administrator, general education teacher, special education teacher, and school psychologist. Next, a universal screener should be adopted. This screener, for example, DIBELS, should be administered three times a year. Also, professional development should be planned to assist with the understanding of how RTI works and how the data will drive instruction. • 8. School Lunch Essay Skipping Dessert When I was younger, I vividly remember the vast amount of delicious food that was offered every day in my school lunchroom. The food that I use to describe as good food, I am beginning to undoubtedly recognise for the unhealthy junk that it actually is. There are countless others who also notice how horrible these foods are to feed children in school cafeterias. Today, those same cafeterias are tremendously different from the ones I remember from when I was little, and they are always continuously changing. The amount of options we are offered have not lessened, they have simply changed. Instead of having the option to purchase nachos, we now are given the option of baked fries. Also, instead of having a dessert of an innutritious brownie, we now are given a large variety of sweet fruits to choose from instead. While some students distinguish these changes as a catastrophe, I can understand the importance of having students skip dessert during a school lunch. Allowing the NSLP to regulate what is served in school lunches would help parents trust that their children would be getting healthier foods at school, help to combat the epidemic of obesity and malnutrition in the United States, and assist in educating children on healthy diet choices. Summary Of On Natural Death By Lewis Thomas On Natural Death In his essay On Natural Death , research pathologist, medical doctor, and biologist Lewis Thomas attempts to console the reader about the weighty topic of death by referencing his own observations, citing scientific facts and statistics, and using the universal fear and unknown of eternal rest. Thomas first points to the example of the unforeseen death of an elm tree in his own backyard. The death of an inanimate lifeform is something with which most people are familiar and probably even comfortable. This first hand experience displays a situation in which death is quick and free of pain. It also shows how quickly death can tranpire; in this situation, the tree appeared to be in perfect health just a week before its sudden passing. The story of a dying mouse displays Thomas s own sorrow at the demise of a fellow mammal and former participant in life. The reader is naturally brought to empathize with Thomas s sentiments by his use of firsthand emotions and experiences. Thomas even calls upon the reader to understand the feelings of the mouse itself by describing what the experience likely felt to the mouse painless to the extent that the mouse is inclined to shrug. Another of his observations is that of two soldiers unfortunate fatalities after being in a mortal automobile accident. • 15. Analysis Of Princess Mononoke And The Classic... Throughout the progression of civilization, technological advancements have always occurred at the expense of altering and harming the environment; so much so that one of the five types of conflict highlighted in literary writing is human vs. nature. One such story that addresses this conflict is Princess Mononoke by Japanese storyteller Hiyao Miyazaki. Although appearing to be a simple animated children s tale of a boy thrown into a fight between spiritual beings and the human civilization that threatens to encroach upon their territory, Miyazaki delves into an utterly complex commentary on the consequences technological advancements have on its surroundings. Unlike other more mainstream examples from film such as Disney s Pocahontas, James Cameron s Avatar, and the classic Soylent Green, however, Miyazaki chooses not to take a side as he highlights the benevolence of the people that are destroying nature, while forcing the viewer to sympathize with the nature spirits plight simultaneously. Refraining from dealing in absolutes, Princess Mononoke s subject matter develops more nuanced critiques that allow the viewer to craft their own opinions. While Miyazaki chooses not to reach any concrete resolution on how to fix the problems that may arise, he offers a legitimate warning that balance is crucial beyond measure; a balance unattained, even after nearly two decades have passed since the film s release. This policy was even more harshly debated because these troops were there to enforce a law that the Southerners were not ever able to vote on until they were forced to vote for it if they wanted to rejoin the United States, which they had to do because they lost the Civil War. This force, both physically and ideologically, seemed very out of place in a country that claimed to be the land of the free, and even more out of place since it was a Democracy. This ideological difference between Southerners and Congress has been a major point of contention in discussions about Reconstruction policy since it was put into practice. The relationship between vice and virtue is explained thoroughly. A human s race cannot be changed throughout life, which is essentially a vice for some but a virtue for others.
