12. Evidence?
• Calloway, et al 1992 – Vegetarian diets in Egypt, Kenya and Mexico
deficient in many micronutrients
• Krebs, et al. 2011 – Meat consumption associated with less
stunting in toddlers
• Dror & Allen 2011, Systematic Review – Milk improves
anthropometric scores and cognitive function
• Neumann et al 2003 – Meat improves cognitive function, physical
activity, muscle mass and B12 status , Milk improves B12 status
and linear growth
• Iannotti – (personal communication) Daily egg consumption in
children 6-9 months old reduced stunting by 47% in Ecuador
