Food security relies on food availability, access, and utilization. By 2050, the world's population is projected to grow to 9 billion people, requiring more food production. However, increasing demands for meat, milk, and eggs will need to be met while using fewer resources. Innovation in dairy farming could help fill the growing supply gap. Applying existing technologies could increase milk yields from each cow and meet future demand while saving resources like land, feed, and water by not needing additional cows. Ensuring access to innovations, trade to move food globally, and consumer choice of nutritious options are key to achieving global food security.

Food Nutrition Security & Innovation
Food security and nutrition security are related but distinct concepts. Food security refers to reliable access to sufficient quantities of safe and nutritious food, while nutrition security additionally considers factors like food utilization, caring practices, and access to healthcare that impact nutritional status. Ensuring nutrition security requires a multi-sectoral approach that addresses underlying determinants like income, education, water and sanitation alongside direct nutrition interventions. Assessing and helping to address clients' food security is important for effective nutrition care and support, as food insecurity can negatively impact health status and limit the options available to improve nutrition.
Food systems, food security and environmental change
This is a presentation given by Dr John Ingram of Oxford University's Environmental Change Institute (ECI) to a Critical Theme organised by the International Institute for Environment and Development on 12 February 2015.
Dr Ingram leads the Environmental Change Institute's Food Systems Research and Training Programme, which aims to increase understanding of the interactions between food security and environmental change. The programme's research products have been adopted by national and international organisations, including the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the UK and Dutch governments.
In his presentation, Ingram looked at food system activities and 'planetary boundaries' – the safe operating space for humanity with respect to the earth's biophysical systems. If these planetary boundaries are crossed, then important subsystems, such as a monsoon system, could shift into a new state. Such shifts could have damaging consequences, including undermining the environmental conditions and the natural resource base on which our food security depends.
IIED hosts Critical Themes meetings to explore new ideas, introduce new research and broaden the knowledge of its staff.

Sustainability is a burning issue, gaining global awareness each day. We would all like to believe that we can continue in our old familiar ways but we are also beginning to realize how critical it is to change and evolve in order for humanity and earth to survive. I created an infographic presentation for Shir Halpern, Owner at Tel Aviv Farmers Market and The Port’s Market, and a very active figure in the field of Agritech, Agrifood and Sustainability. The purpose is to portray all the hot topic in the world of foodtech and how our way of eating and consuming food is bound to change in the years to come.

Food insecurity
1) Food security exists when all people have access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs for an active and healthy life.
2) Around 870 million people, or 12.5% of the global population, were undernourished between 2010-2012. Sub-Saharan Africa and Southern Asia have the highest levels of hunger.
3) India alone accounts for over half of all malnutrition-related child deaths worldwide despite growing enough food to meet its population's needs. High poverty, lower incomes, and poor infrastructure contribute to India's food insecurity challenges.
