I was contracted to develop a fully comprehensive business plan for a Danish engineering
company, Advance Nonwoven. They are interested in setting up two manufacturing facilities for
the energy efficiency sector in South Africa. The Business Plan was approved and accepted and
was presented to potential shareholders/ investors who have signed a Term Sheet for the green-
fields project. Total project investment R157 million. The Investment Management project
involved:
• Market research: My involvement of a national building insulation market research study
resulted in a comprehensive document describing the current market size, estimated
future market conditions, competitive analysis and market share and price positions.
• R&D: I developed an innovative thermal insulation product manufactured from recycled
materials, which resulted in a low cost product compared to other materials and which
passed the national building regulations tests and requirements.
• Financial Modelling: My in depth knowledge of the business processes and supply chain
assisted with the creation of a financial model which gives five year projections, accurate
ROI and ROE projections as well as expense budgets, cash flow statements, and P&L
accounts.
• Procurement of manufacturing equipment: I verified and assessed the technology for
fitness for purpose to manufacture the insulation and compiled a fully comprehensive
purchasing contract with guaranty and warranty clauses.
• Raw material sourcing: I was involved in the procurement and negotiation of supply
contracts.
• Production process flow: I planned and optimised the process flow of the manufacturing
and logistics of the proposed company.
• Presentation and private equity funding: I helped compile the business plan and
presented the business case to potential investors and secured financial commitment in
the form of equity to the value of R97 million.
