Disability Movement
Prior to reading this article I never truly understand the harsh conditions that the disabled had to
live with prior to the disability movement. While reading this article I questioned how individuals
abusing the disabled got away with doing so for so long. Yet, while further reading through the
article I realized that this abuse may have resulted in lack of educationon disabled individuals and
possible fear of the disabled. The article spoke about how the disabilitymovement did not really
start until after Dr. Samuel Gridley started a schoolfor idiotic children (Pfeiffer D. 1993). This was
a start to helping disabled more, but a very small start at that. Soon after the school was shut down
for dehumanizing the disabled. I feel that this idea was a great idea and start to the disabled
movement but was not run right therefore was abused and used the disabled individuals for labor
work instead (Pfeiffer D. 1993). One of the movements I thought was inspiring and finally helped
the Disability Movement turn in the right direction was the AFB, American Foundation for the
Blind. This... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I feel this article would be beneficial for everyone to read to get a basis on the start of the
movement, but that there is still much work to do. There is still much bullying and abuse toward
disabled individuals that I feel could be improved by more education on the matter. I know
growing up I was not taught much about disabilities until I went to college and further educated
myself on the matter. The definition of disabled in this article starts out with a very important
statement: with respect to an individual (Garcia, S. 2013). I feel that much respect is yet to be
built and with further education on the matter from historical overviews, such as what Pfeiffer
wrote, we can learn what not to do and how to move

The Bald Eagle as an Endangered Species Essay
The Bald Eagle as an Endangered Species
The bald eagle is the most well known endangered species because it is the nation s symbol. It is
suppose to stand for freedom and the American way, but if we allow the bald eagle to become
extinct how can we let something that doesn t exist anymore stand for freedom and the American
way. Being the symbol of the nation, the bald eagle was put on the endangered species list faster
than most species. When the bald eagle reached its low point in the 1960 s (400 pairs), it was put
on the endangered species list. The many federal acts or programs, the Endangered Species Act
being the most effective, that were created for the bald eagle show how much the government cares
about the symbol of our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second reason why the bald eagles became an endangered species is hunting. Before the bald
eagle was declared an endangered species, they were hunted as any other animal was. Despite
being the symbol of the nation, the eagles were still considered a nuisance and were shot on sight.
This ignorance brought the bald eagle closer to becoming an endangered species.
Historically, Americans treated their nation s symbol about as well as they did their other natural
resources. Recent guesstimates of eagle numbers at the time of European settlement range from
25,000 to 75,000 birds, though the species distribution was spotty. Feeding largely on fish and
carrion, and thus harmless to human interest, bald eagles were nevertheless classed as vermin, to be
shot on sight. (Graham 2)
Though the bald eagle is the nation s symbol, people still saw them as vermin and shot them on
sight. Not only were they shot because they were thought to be vermin, but they were also shot
because they were considered to be great trophies. This lack of patriotism and lack of kindness to
animals in general brought down the population of the bald eagle. Since the population of the bald
eagle went down, the bald eagle became closer to becoming an endangered species.
The third reason why bald eagles became an endangered species is the climate or

Descriptive Essay About Mangonada Margaritas
Mangonada Margaritas
Mangonada Margaritas. Yep, you read that right! All of the flavors of a mangonada blended into a
classic frozen margarita. If you aren t familiar with a mangonada it is a Mexican frozen mango
drink made with lime juice, chili lime seasoning, and chamoy sauce. So I incorporated those same
ingredients in my margarita! It s sweet, with a little bit of heat, and some tequila to wake things up
a bit.
I love chamoy sauce, but if you ve ever read the label on the back of the bottle you will see
ingredients that I do not particularly care to consume. So I decided to make my own organic
chamoy sauce in order to make my Mangonada Margaritas. And it was a total success! To make
my homemade chamoy sauce I used HEB s recipe. I adapted ... Show more content on

Abraham and Moses Essay
Abram is presented to us as an old man without an offspring or heir. He is at the age of seventy
five when God comes to him with the offer of the covenant. Abraham stands for devotion, justice,
compassion, faith, tact, and personal integrity. He is also seen as cunning, humorous, and
pragmatic throughout the story. Abram is a man looking for his faith, and God asks Abram to
leave his land and kinship to a land which God will show him. In exchange for Abram s faith and
compliance, God will make of Abram a great nation, make his name great, bless those who bless
him and curse those who curse him, and finally all the communities of the Earth will find blessing
in him.
The covenant is a basic understanding between Abram and God that ... Show more content on

Abraham found out that this was God s final test before the covenant was finalized. God told
Abraham that all his people must look to God as their god, and that all the boys must be
circumcised on the eighth day after their birth. If Abraham would fulfill his part of the covenant,
God would provide Abraham with the lands of Canaan.
Abraham must have faith in God throughout his journey because the God he speaks to asks him to
leave his lands and kinsfolk to go to a promised land that Moses has never seen nor heard much
about. God promises Abraham many things which were unbelievable or impossible without divine
intervention, so Abraham s faith is always being tested. Abraham knows that his legacy will never
continue without an heir, so his faith lets him continue and believe that he will still have a son
even after he has aged so much. Another reason why Abraham must have faith is that the people
following him have faith in Abraham. If at any time Abraham loses faith, he will not only risk
breaking the covenant with God, but he will also be letting down all the people who had faith in
him.
The story of Abraham changed the way the Hebrew people thought about time. The Hebrew
people began to think of time as cyclical. Each cycle was begun with the promise of what is to
come, and ended with the fulfillment of this promise and the need of a new promise. This fits in
with the stories of the Prophets, as the coming of Abraham and Moses can be

Prejudice In The 12 Angry Men
Prejudice is something that every one has experienced or seen in other people. In the film The
12 Angry Men, the 12 jurors are ready to send a young man to the execution chair for the murder
of his father. 11 of the twelve men vote that the boy is guilty but juror number 8 votes not guilty.
This man was able to see passed his prejudices while the other men are seemly blinded by them.
You can t dwell on what might have been... and it s not fair to condemn him for something he hasn
t done. ( Wendelin van Draanen) In the 1957 MGM film twelve angry men, the jurors reveal their
prejudices through their beliefs, words and attitude. A great example of how peoples beliefs can
influence the way they think about other people. The jurornumber 11 sees the young manas still a
child and in the men s eyes all children are born as liars. They are incapable of telling the truth and
therefore the boywould have had to kill his father and didn t go to the movies that night during
the murder like he said. This is backed up by juror number 4 who says that the boy couldn t seem
to remember the movie he saw or the actors that stared in the film. If he couldn t remember that
the movie then he must be lying about seeing the movie. But juror number 8 proves that not
everyone can remember every little fact about every movie. The boy had just gone to the movies
and came back to find his father dead on the floor and police arresting him. It is very unlikely that

Telekinesis-Personal Narrative
My eyes scan the computer as I read about telekinesis. With telekinesis you re able to move
objects with your mind. I believe I have that. Well I guess it s time to see. I get up and grab an
apple and go outside to the field by my house. I set the apple down on a picnic table in the
middle of the field and walk away from it. I turn back around and I look at the bright red apple.
My eyes narrow and the apple is thrown across the field. I close my eyes and breathe in, smelling
the freshly cut grass. I awake with a jolt in the middle of the field. That was a weird dream. It s

Descriptive Essay On Computer Store
It s 8:59 A.M. on a Saturday, and I am waiting with my dad in his car. It is the only car in the strip
mall parking lot. I am antsy to get my repaired computer back to play games. A small silver car
pulls in next to us and out walks a college aged guy that smells of a stale smoke. My dad hands
me some cash and I walk into the store behind the young guy as he turns on the lights of the
computerstore.
You come to pick up a computer? the young smoker asks me while he boots up the store s main
computer. He is polite and asks me questions about some of my hobbies; I tell him my
fascination with electronics and how I ve been wanting to build my own computer. I glance
around the store and stare at the variety of computers, devices, and printers within the store. The
printers are piled on top of each other blanketed in a layer of dust. Parts are overflowing from the
shelves, making a thin walkable path throughout the store. Vast amounts of various computer
components are scattered on tables, and there is a stack of desktop computers piled to the
ceiling. This store is a messy computer museum! It s an unorganized chaos, but I am mesmerized.
As I am waiting for the man to print my bill, a middle aged man enters the store and heads
straight to a private cubicle with privacy provided by a sheet of plywood. He is immediately on
the phone with an agitated voice with what must be a customer, creating a sense of discomfort.
Justin? He asks me but I don t hear him, Is your name

Telecommunication may already be a reality in some companies but there are many that are

that needs to be solved is how to effectively balance telecommuting with green computing and
keeping productivity and morale high as well as costs of overhead and expenses low.
CEO Marissa Mayer made a very controversial decision in February 2013 when it became public
that she was recalling the previous policy of allowing employees to telecommute and instituting a

Saviors And Persevere For The Greater Good
If someone were to ask a group of people to give an example of a hero, what would the answers
be? Most would probably use fictional characters like Batman or Spider Man. Others might use
real people like the police or someone serving in the army. Are these people really heroes
though? Sure, they risk their lives for the good of others, but the soldiers and police are paid, and
Batman, Spider Man, and all the other superheroes are designed to fall under the stereotypical
definition of a hero. Therefore, true heroes are saviors and persevere for the greater good, never
showing weakness. Heroes persevere for the greater good. Take Abraham Lincoln, a perfect example
of someone who persevered for the greater good. In the last few months of the

Life Of The Blessed Emperor Constantine Analysis
It is evident that Constantine played a pivotal role in strengthening the relationship between Rome
and Christianity as he helped facilitate the spread of Christianity on a grander scale compared to
other emperors who followed. Eusebius makes this clear in his excerpt The Life of the Blessed
Emperor Constantine by portraying Constantine as a devout Christian who believed that God can
help him restore Rome to its original glory. During this time, Rome exited the crisis of the third
century characterized by numerous foreign incursions and domestic strife which left the Roman
empirein shambles (McKay et al. 167). Constantine rose to the occasion to help rebuild the
shattered empire. Through his conversion he was able to find a cause for... Show more content on

170). According to the Bagster translation by Ernest Cushing Richardson about Eusebius The Life
of the Blessed Emperor Constantine, Eusebius depicted Constantine s realization that ...of the many
emperors who had preceded him, those who had rested their hopes in a multitude of gods,... met
with an unhappy end (18; bk 1, ch. XXVII). Eusebius made it clear that Constantine realized that
the pagan emperors met their demise, thus he changed his approach and believed that Christianity
and God would help save the empire from ruin. Emperor Diocletian denounced Christianity and
urged people to accept his divine authority which was given to him by the Roman gods (Smarr
January 25, 2017). This combined with the creation of buildings denouncing Christianity led to
numerous revolts against Diocletian s rule (Smarr January 25, 2017). This paved a path for
Christianity s takeover of the Roman empire. Thus, for a short period of time it seemed as if the
relationship between Christianity and Rome was deteriorating, but with Constantine initiating the
acceptance of Christianity and Theodosius making it the religion of the empire in 380, it became
the most important religion in the Roman empire (McKay et al.

Is Undocumented Alien Illegal Immigration Really A...
When it comes to anything about conflict in immigration there is always a huge debate. There are
two sides to every story and both make very good supportive arguments. Some with very
compelling statistical reports. But which are true? That s for you to decide. Is undocumented alien
illegal immigration really a national problem? Honestly, I don t believe either side. There is no
definite completely correct reports out there. Both sides exaggerate the data to make it more
compelling. But regardless they both sides have very good arguments. One argument is Immigration
helps to determine the bargaining leverage of the American workers... If you use a form of labor
recruitment that bids down the cost of labor, that leaves you to a society where a small number are
very, very rich, nobody in the middle, and everyone is left scrambling for crumbs at the bottom.
P.132
Basically that means, with all the undocumented workers it takes away the labor rights to legal
citizens. Driving they re bargaining rights for a higher wage increase to nothing because everyone
is replaceable. Which then in turn makes the rich richer, and makes the middle class slip into
poverty. Leaving more and more people fighting for livable wages, housing, and a decent life.
The other argument is They never take into account the contributions that undocumented
immigrants make.... It would be an economic and social disaster for 11 million people to pick up
and leave.... Without immigration labor, it would almost

Improving the Records Management
Improving the Records Management
Implementation of Electronic Records Management Records management can be improved in
many ways. In my opinion, one of the ways is to implement the electronic records management.
The government should consider formulating policies, standards and practices, technical
specifications and training plans to enable its agencies including Mahkamah Negeri Sembilan to
manage records in electronic form. According to Arkib Negara Malaysia, The management of
electronic records is not a problem that needs to be solved. Its effective implementation in support
of program/ service delivery, decision making, etc., should be viewed from the perspective of the
extent to which it can lead to cost savings, cost avoidance, risk reduction and opportunity gain. This
means that electronic records could give a lot of benefits to the government agencies. As stated by
Arkib Negara Malaysia, electronic records management could help the government agencies to
reduce its costs. The traditional records management practiced by Mahkamah Negeri Sembilan for
example requires the government to actually spend more money. This is because, if we re looking
this issue from a strategic view then it is undeniable that the implementation of electronic records
management could save costs. The existing system practiced by the government requires them to
maintain all the equipments and also hire personnel to supervise the files room. Furthermore, it
contributes to the increased usage

Chabadoufe s Memoiry Analysis
Almost every commonplace scenario has a polite phrase that goes alongside it. When someone
sneezes, a scattered symphony of Bless you s follows soon afterward. When you receive a gift
of kindness, you would respond, Thank you. When accepting another s gratitude, you would
say, You re welcome. But what do you say when someone coughs? By normal people s standards,
the answer to that question is nothing at all. After somebody coughs, not a single word is
uttered, leaving an empty silence which desires to be filled with something. A while back in
middle school, it was this palpable feeling of emptiness which drove me to ponder the nature of
this situation. How could there be no phrase to respond to a cough? I soon resolved to come up
with my own word or words to use in response of someone else coughing. I thought on possibilities

Chabadoufe is more than just an automatic response to the sound of a cough. It holds more
meaning than that. When saying chabadoufe, you not only acknowledge that someone has
coughed, but also express concern or care for the individual that coughed. It is almost akin to
asking, Are you okay? since coughing feels very unpleasant and usually is a sign of an even
more unpleasant occurrence such as having a cold, sore throat, or something stuck in your throat.
With all these thoughts floating around in my head, I decided it would be wrong to share my
first response with my friend. Instead of telling her the original generic response I had planned, I

display concern over that person s well being and possible malady. After hearing that, she looked at

The Theory Of Assimilation And The American Dream
The theory of Assimilation was introduce in the article of Trucios Haynes and its basically talks
about immigrants coming to America and that they need to be force to give up on their own culture
and assimilate to the American culture. Throughout the reading, I have learned that the theory of
Assimilation has been present in this country for many years and how impactful it can still be.
Since America was built around immigrants, the first people who came in to this country has
already establish a certain life style and whoever would come after them, those immigrants are force
to be like the current W.A.S.P. Assimilation in essence is a concept that the first immigrant s
created for forcing other immigrants to adapt to their own culture and forget their own culture to be
an American. If you choose to not assimilate, then you will have a tougher time in gaining the
benefits in living in this country and chasing down the idea of the American Dream. The first article
titled 50 Years Ago, ImmigrationChanged in America talks about to deport the illegal and legal
immigrants who came to America. After they are deported, should we as a country build a wall to
block people from Mexico from coming to America Throughout the reading, the Immigration and
Nationality Act of 1965 was mention in giving us an example of how we treated immigrants. This
law was based on the national origin that heavily favored Western Europeans such as the Irish,

If I were to choose a figure in the government who I admire the most, that person would be
Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina. Ever since I began to take an interest in politics, I always

community has tended to vote Democrat and when they see one of their own come out as a

He believed that minimal role of state in the economy and whether people act out of self interest
will benefit to the society. Invisible hand will regulate the market which at once satisfies self
interest and the needs of the community. Hence Smith s considered political economy as the
study of wealth generation . (Babe 2009: 14) Karl Marx with other economists worked on
Labour theory of Value (Babe: 14) believing that workers have rights to be paid for their work
(labour). This is another important characteristic of classical political economy. But on the other
hand he claimed that (to be in opposition to Adam Smith s theory) free market polarises wealth
where rich people get richer and poor get even poorer. So the public ownership of the means of
production is the only way of equal distribution of wealth. People act out unity and for the good of
society. Neoclassical Political Economy is all about consumers taste and preferences which is
valued and preferred more than labour. Class does not matter at all, but everyone is a consumer and
cultural goods and services became treated as commodity. In this neoclassical period of political
economy the main question is how humans want be most satisfied? And how markets function at
the best? (Hesmondhalgh 2007) Economics became essentially a mathematical deductive system in
stark contrast to classical political economy, which was fully engaged with the

at an alarming rate. Rinkesh states, according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture
Organization, an estimated 18 million acres of forest are lost each year (Rinkesh). The rapid loss
of rainforests is due to deforestation, the clearing, destroying, or otherwise removal of trees through
deliberate, natural or accidental means ( Effects of Deforestation ). While there are many valid
reasons for deforestation, it s important to consider the destructive consequences if the rapid rate of

The removal of forests results in a decrease of clouds, which in return means less rainfall (Bala et
al.). The trees help in the water cycle process, as they return water vapor back into the atmosphere
( Deforestation ). Deforestation disrupts the water cycle, as tress can no longer evaporate the
ground water, and as a result the climate becomes drier. If the trees aren t able to do their part in
the water cycle, then the rainforest turns into more of a desert. A study was done that concluded
deforestation in the Amazon reduces rainfall in the US Midwest and northeast China
(Mcsweeney). Rainforests play such an important role in the water cycle that just one rainforest
can effect rainfall on the other side of the world. Rainforests take the water from the soil and
turn it into moisture in the air, thus cooling the air (Mcsweeney). Without trees this cooling
effect wouldn t occur and the additional moisture wouldn t be added to the air. The decrease in
moisture in the air will then result in a drier climate, and the rainforest would become more like
a desert resulting from the lack of trees. This puts a risk on agriculture as well, as the climate
becomes drier due to the lack of rainfall. Not only does the rainforest play an important role in the
water cycle, but in preventing soil erosion as

Obesity. Obesity, also known as overweight, is a serious epidemic disease that can cause harm to
the systems of the body including the heart. Obesity is the biggest threat to the United State of
America s population and something urgent has to be done, otherwise our future generation is at
stake. the parent of U.S kids should be aware that obesity is affecting health, has national
consequences, and lead to depression in the victims. If something is not done fast to alter this
misfortune, there is a high percentage that our future generation is at stake. Moreover, Obesity
is a vital root of many life threatening diseases, like diabetes type 2, high blood pressure and
even strokes. Most people who are obese are often associated with type 2 diabetes because
obesity can cause resistance to insulin that produces the hormone to regulate sugar in the blood.
Malnutrition motivates obesity whereby producing a lot of cholesterol, which closes up the
bloodstream in the body, causing high blood pressure the process by which the heart is not able to
pump the blood needed by the body. All this threaten the life of Americans and can lead to early
death. Most obese Americans seem as if they do not care about what they eat nor drink. Their
greatest concern about what they consume is fast food because they

Characterization Of Everyday Use By Alice Walker
Characterization is considered to be an element of literature. Analyzing characterization is the key
to finding a fictional story s theme, and it is made known through direct and indirect
characterization. Direct characterization tells the personality or traits of the character, while
indirect presents the character by their actions. Alice Walker s Everyday Use is a short story that
reveals its theme through characterization and used by exposing the characters values, heritage, and
insecurities. The literary sub¬genre of Everyday Use is realistic fiction. This story focuses its
writing and plot around the values of a rural family. Walker story is about two sisters and a mother
who live in a rural section of Georgia. The oldest daughter left and pursued a college career and
after a while she decides visit her mother. At the end of her visit she intends to leave with some of
the family heirlooms two quilts. The mother finds out her daughter only wants the quilts as a
pretense of displaying heritage. Alice Walker story exposes the theme of heritage. Throughout the
story, Walker uses indirect characterization to describe Dee, and direct characterization to describe
Maggie and Mama, in order to reveal the different ways that people embrace their heritage. The
indirect characterization of Dee shows how she embraces her heritage superficially. While Dee is
shown to be spoiled and selfish, throughout the story her indirect characterization is shown through

Documentation In Nursing
Stay out of court with proper documentation, by Sally Austin, is a great eye opener to how
crucial it is to document in the health care field as a nurse. As many know, nurses are extremely
busy throughout their day, and as a result, many of them find it difficult to find the time to
document in their patient s medical record. According to the article, a medical record is a legal
document required by law and other regulatory bodies. Therefore, it must be done so the patient
gets the best and most accurate care. The medical record is also one of the first places people
look when a lawsuit is brought up or something goes wrong, so documentation needs to be done
properly and in a timely manner. The article gives five suggestions on how to avoid errors and
complications in documentation which are: be objective, document at the same time as your... Show

One suggestion that the article gave that I will be putting to use is that of documenting right away,
if at all possible. As mentioned above, nurses are very busy and if a nurse does not document right
away there is a good chance it will not get done, and if it does it may not be done correctly or
forgotten. Another topic that stood out to me was that it is my legal responsibility, as a nurse,
to document on the patient s medical record. If I do not document it it legally did not happen;
therefore, I will have to suffer the penalties of those actions or lack thereof. Finally, I learned
how serious and critical it is to document and to do it properly. Before I read this article, I knew it
was important, but after reading this article it really sunk in that documenting should be taken
more seriously. The patient s medical record is the go to place for health providers in providing
care, and it is also one of the first places people look when something goes

Action Potential Essay
RESTING POTENTIAL
Resting potential is the membrane potential when a neuron is not conducting any electrical impulse
or signal. The resting potential is around 75 mV. During resting potential, the inside of the axon is
negative
GRADED POTENTIAL
ACTION POTENTIAL
Action potential is a fleeting reversal of the membrane potential, caused by changes in permeability
of the plasma membrane of neuron to potassium and sodium ions causing an electrical impulse to
be transmitted along the axon.
When a stimulus depolarizes the membrane, a few of the voltage gated sodium channels that are
found in the neuronal plasma membrane open permitting sodium ions to pass through. Since there
is much greater concentration of sodium ions outside the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is called temporary hyperpolarisation. The potassium channels then close, and the sodium
potassium pump begin to act again, restoring the normal/original distribution of sodium and
potassium ions across the membrane, and therefore restoring the resting potential. This process
takes time. THE REFRACTORY PERIOD Refractory period is the period of time during which a
neuron is recovering from an action potential, and during which another action potential cannot be
generated. At this period, the voltage gated sodium channels are still firmly closed (or temporary
inactivated) and the membrane cannot produce an action potential, regardless of the stimulation.
CONDUCTION/PROPAGATION/TRANSMISSION OF ACTION POTENTIAL An action
potential at any point along an axon s plasma membrane triggers the production of an action
potential in the membrane on either side of it. During the action potential, sodium ions enter a
point on the axon. The temporary depolarization of the membrane where the action potential is
causes a local circuit to be set between the depolarized region and the resting regions on either side
of it. Sodium ions flow sideways inside the axon, away from the positively charged region towards
the negatively charged regions on either side. This depolarizes these adjoining regions and so
generates During the action potential, sodium ions enter

Rubbish Can Be Sayd To Have Value In A Consumer Society
Outline the ways in which rubbish can be said to have value in a consumer society.
A consumer society is increasingly organized around consumption of goods and leisure, rather
than the production of materials and services. It rests on consuming material goods as a supreme
characteristic of value. Therefore individuals who do not consume are viewed as undervalued.
Peoples consumer choices (taste and style) are seen to be indicators of who they are as a person
and of their moves within the games of class, prestige, status, hierarchy, fashionability ( Features of
a Consumer Society McGregor 2011). Many spending and investments are committed to consuming,

Up to now the focus is on the idea that rubbish doesn t have value. That is, rubbish has no value to
the person who throws it away. ( Rubbish Society , 2009 p.118).It might still have negative value,
in that disposing of it money and costs time. For example if a person has to take any of his
household items for disposal then it will have negative value for him, considering transportation
costs and the consumed time
But rubbish can potentially have value for others. As the old saying goes: One man s junk is
another man s treasure .(Unknown). This is essential for defining how come there are businesses
of rubbish. Rubbish allows them to make money by disposing it off in proper manner. These
businesses turn rubbish into something of value. They make this possible by converting it into
marketable products or by moving it away for dumping. ( Rubbish Society , 2009 p.119). The
growth in the recycling industry and people s increased awareness and participation in recycling
programs all over the world has also created an opening for larger organizations to operate
recycling and disposal operations on an international level. The process of recycling can thus give
value to rubbish and waste by producing outputs

Argumentative Essay On Honey Bees
Bees, commonly referred to as a nuisance, actually play an important role in the world, bees may
seem like just another bottom of a food chain useless Anthophila on planet Earth, but they play a
vital part in the food system that keeps us alive. Honey Bees are natural pollinators, and
pollinate 30% of our crops. Unfortunately Bees are dying off in Large colonies at a time,This is
called Bee Colony collapse disorder (CCD).Many studies relate this disorder to the use of
insecticides, herbicides and fungicides. Monsanto, being the largest producer of genetically

matriarchal society and everyone of them has their own duties. Without the Queen bee, bees

Government Vs Federal Government
George Smith wrote that Thomas Jefferson believed the distribution of power among federal, state,
county, and local agencies was indispensable to America s system of fundamental balances and
checks for the government. (Smith, 2012) Today federal, state, and local governments still play
important roles in the operations of public schools through providing funding, policies, scope and
organization of school systems. Through the years, the federal governmenthas increased their
position in governing public schools, stategovernment works to guide and offer clarification, and
local governmentis responsible for the day to day affairs.
In Federal Control of Public Schools and the Decline of Community Carl Bankston III discusses the
fact that the US Constitution makes no reference to schools or education. Since there is no direct
mention the Tenth Amendment reserves all the power to be held at the state and to the people. In
fact, federal government had no say in the first public schools, all power was delegated to the state.
It wasn t until after the Civil War that the federal government would become involved with public
education. Then after each war federal involvement would continue to increase. Court cases like
Brown vs. The Board of Education, Swann v. Charlotte Mecklenburg, and Green vs. County School
Board would be influential in the federal governments control. Even with the added involvement
the U.S. Department of Education states that the Federal contribution

The Film Angela s Ashes
Angela s Ashes
The lead actor s life in the film Angela s Ashes can be explored through western and cultural
theories of human development.
Although the story is titled Angela s Ashes for me the focal character was Frankie (Francis)
McCourt. His complex and tumultuous life drove the story from beginning to end and although
his mother Angela was very important she was part and parcel of the bigger picture that was
Frankie McCourt s life story (Parker, 1999). For me the story resonates the resilience of young
people and their ability and inability to work their way through life. The amount of sadness,
instability and constant impoverishment would have broken most, but Frankie in his role as eldest
brother and son always seemed to find a way to cope and move forward.
Both Cultural and Western theorists would have had a field day with the reality of Frankie s life,
but in looking at the ideas of two specific theorists to endeavour to make sense of his journey I
chose cultural theorist Mason Durie and western theorist Albert Bandura.
Mason Durie s Te Whare Tapa Wha model looks at the individual as a whole piece that needs four
parts to function; taha wairua (spiritual), taha hinegaro (mental), taha tinana (physical), taha
whanau (family) (Durie, 1998). If one part is having difficulty, one or all of the other three parts will
take the strain in some way in order for the individual to function as normal as possible. In the story
Frankie s life was a melee of all four

Consequences Of Teen Drinking
Consequences of Underaged Drinking
By: Ashley Thomas
Underaged drinking is becoming more of a problem every year. There are many negative
consequences that coincide with this risky activity; other than the obvious fact that it is illegal.
These consequences include: violent behavior, risky sexual activity, engaging in dangerous
activities putting oneself in harm s way, drunk driving, and long term effects such as brain damage
and depression. Whether the person engages in drinking regularly and simply believes nothing
bad will happen to them, or has been talked into drinking for the first time, both are put at equal
risk for any of these events to occur. Arguably some of the most devastating side effects of
drinking at a young age are changes in the way the brain develops. The human brain does not stop
developing until one is well into their twenties. Because of this, Young people that consume/abuse
alcohol, are put at a much higher risk of early onset depression and alcohol dependence into
adulthood. The more concerning aspect of this is teens that start having problems with depression,
due to drinking, often lie about their habits, thus not getting help until it is too late. More times
than not, young people do not confide in parents for fear of judgement and/or ridicule. Situations
like these often cause young adults to feel alone and isolate themselves from those who wish to
help, quite possibly resulting in suicide. The best way to avoid this is for parents to be

North Germany And The Punk Rock Movement
East Germany and the Punk Rock Movement That Paralyzed It
The punk rock movement, which started in the early 1970s in England and America, expanded
through Germany. At the end of WWII and the beginning of the postwar years different economic,
social, and political ideals led to the division of Germany. Two very distinct Germanys emerged
causing West Germany to join the Western Allies and East Germanyto integrate into the socialist
camp (Hoffmeister, Tubach 124). East Germany paid close attention to westernized music;
specifically punk rock since these types of music did not comply with socialist ideals (Hurley 160).
By the end of the 1970s and beginning of the 1980s, an underground punk scene sprang up in East
Germany (Hurley 163). Some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The conditions in East Germany during the 1970s 1980s were that of total institutions culminating
an environment of transition. East Germany found itself transitioning from one political, economic,
and social system to a governmental system that operated in the form of a total institution .The
concept of total institution developed by sociologist Erving Goffman describes institutions that
have complete control over people s lives and usually have them enclosed or isolated from the
outside world (Mouzelis 9). These institutions can be prisons or mental institutions, in this case, I
claim the East German government was a total institution since it had complete control over its
citizens under an enclosed environment. The German Democratic Republic (GDR) controlled East
Germany. The Soviet Union controlled the GDR through the Socialist Unity Party (SED)
(Hoffmeister, Tubach 123). The GDR and the SED were governmental institutions that oppress the
people of Germany and had many regulations against its citizens. The SED was a Marxist Leninist
party, and even though the GDR stands for the German Democratic Republic, it was only
Democratic in the name because other then that it was totalitarian.

scene. Punk music has an identity of its own

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Servals
The Serval enclosure provides adequate functioning and living throughout the enclosure through the
use of already implemented enrichment techniques. This includes climbing structures as well as
shrubs to provide cover and the use of heat lamps. Despite these enrichments the Adelaide Zoo
enclosure does not seem to meet behavioural needs. Stuart and Stuart (2016), state Servals are
found throughout swamp and grasslands with areas that provide vegetation for coverage, however
the Adelaide Zoo has provided a very dry environment for the Servals. As Servals are found
throughout landscapes that contain a permanent water source the enclosure seems insufficient,
until water and vegetation aspects are made available to meet behavioural needs. This was also
proven when visiting the zoo as the Servals were displaying abnormal behavior such as pacing.
Canniff (2011), state that Servals are solitary animals due to their territorial nature however the
enclosure at the Adelaide Zoo has them housed with other Servals. As these Servals are raised in
captivity and not in the wild, it is difficult to determine whether this species will benefit from being
housed with others, therefore more research will need to be conducted to determine this effect.
(b)Keeper Point of View (4 marks) Climbing structures and logs throughout the enclosure would
need to be maintained to ensure that left over food on the branches or inside the log, does not rot
through the wood or attract unwanted insects.

Intel s studies have shown that raising employees awareness of how much power their equipment
is consuming, and getting them involved in reducing that amount, is critical to success in
reducing energy use in the office environment. We have taken an example of the Intel Company:
Intel conducted a small PoC that explored how they could encourage behavior modification by
showing employees that small things, such as using standby mode on their laptops or turning off
a printer when it s not being used, can add up to big savings. During this PoC, they first
established a baseline of energy consumption through real time metering of energy use in 12
cubicles. In one group, they focused solely on awareness and education. Every two to three days,
Intel provided this group with information on how much energy they were using, and how much it
cost. They did not provide any other information or requests to change behavior to the members of
this group. For the second group they installed a third party software agent that deployed and
enforced power management profiles. The profiles were set up to put the monitor into standby after
ten minutes of idle time, and to put the PC into standby after 30 minutes of idle time. After two
additional weeks of real time metering, Intel examined the energy use of the two groups.

Theme Of Freedom In Fahrenheit 451
Have you ever wished that something wasn t true that in in fact very true? Take basic math for
example. If I was asked, what is 2+2 and I answered 5 , I wouldn t be correct and I would have
gotten the problem wrong. But imagine being in a world where 2+2 could be whatever you
wanted it to be. A world in which no one could tell you that you were wrong. One in which no one
would be able to hurt your feelings because no one was allowed to. We come to this world in the
book named Fahrenheit 451. In this book, readers are summered into a world in which the author,
Ray Bradbury, describes what the society is and how it was made through the life of Guy Montag.
Our main character sets out to discover many things about his society including what it truly
means to be free and how he and his neighbors really aren t really free. Yet they are safe from
harm. Is this balance worth it? In order for one to understand the suppression of freedom in this
culture of F451, readers must first have a good understanding in what freedom really is.
What is freedom? Well, according to the Oxford Dictionary it is having the power or right to act,
speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. Keeping this definition in mind, it is
very disheartening for one to see the suppressed freedom is in F451. Yes, the people do enjoy the
ability to eat, wear, and do what they want, but there is more to life than just doing these things.
Take the United States of America for example.

The Pen Of Thomas Paine
These are the times that try men s souls. Rarely have there been as powerful and as meaningful
words as these from the pen of Thomas Paine. Paine was one of the many men who experienced
the harsh effects of the war. The war was deadly, more deadly than ever could be expressed
through words. The extremes of the war were felt by all, although some felt the cruelty the war
more than others. Men from many different walks of life and men from different sides of the war
all had their souls tried by this war. Some of the men, who joined the Colonial Army, could not take
these trials once the going got tough. When the war started in the summer of 1776, the Army was
doing well with the victory of Boston behind them, and with the excitement of defending Manhattan
in the future, many men joined the Colonial Army. When the Americans lost New York, started to
retreat through New Jersey, and the weather turned rainy, the number of men in the Colonial Army
started to drop significantly. Men were deserting or waiting until their enlistments were up and then
would not re enlist (McCullough 249). These numbers dropped even farther once the weather
turned poor when the rain and snow came (McCullough 81). This shows precisely what Paine
meant by his second statement in The American Crisis, The summer soldier and the sunshine
patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country... All the men of the war were
suffering, but the men who stuck it out even in the hardest of

The Role Of Technology In The Criminal Justice System
Technology in the criminal justice system has come a long way in the history of criminal justice.
Technology has helped with communication within the criminal justice system and has helped in
criminal databases. In the criminal justice system there are many forms of new technology that
continues to arise each year in order help law enforcement agencies create a faster way in receiving
critical information needed to do their job.
StarChase Pursuit Management System, is one of today s new technologies being brought to law
enforcement agencies. This device is a compressed air launcher, mounted in the grille of the police
cruiser, which uses a laser to target the fleeing vehicle, once the laser in locked on the fleeing
vehicle it shoots a sticky tag that enables a GPS on to the suspect s vehicle allowing police to
monitor the location from a safe distance and still being able to remain unnoticed. This will allow
the police to apprehend the suspect in a less lethal environment by not putting danger on the road.
However the use of GPS devices without a warrant is currently under review by the U.S. Supreme
Court. (Rivera, 2011).
Another great new technology being used in law enforcement is the Project54 Voice Command
System. This system allows officers to receive vehicle registration by verbal commands. (Rivera,
2011). Not only does the software allow registration information to be pulled up but can also be
used to operate functions inside the squad car such as turning on sirens

Mary Tudor s Bloody Mary
Mary Mary quite contrary. How does your garden grow? With silver bells and cockleshells. And
pretty maids all in a row. This is a nursery that is believed to be associated with Mary Tudor, most
commonly known as Bloody Mary . Sounds like an innocent nursey rhyme, right? But really,
according to Gillies, the garden in the nursery rhyme is a reference to graveyards which were
increasing in size, with those who dared to continue to follow the Protestant faith. The silver
bells and cockleshells were said to be used as torture devices and the pretty maids mentioned in
the nursery rhyme were in rows for guillotines. There are stories out there that dig deeper into the

reputation and they have argued that Mary deserves more appreciation for her work than
previously thought. This shows that Mary Tudor was not a bad person, but she did good things
throughout her lifetime. Mary Tudor was born February 18, 1516 in a palace Palace of Placentia
located in Greenwich, England. Mary was born to King Henry VIII

for such a sight. When I first arrived here, I have seen nothing but blood, guts and bullets.
Its amazing how quickly we humans desensitise ourselves to such confronting sights, sounds and
smells. The war does that to you, any and all feelings that you have prior will disappear in order
for us to get on with the job; its a survival instinct. Any minute now, in any minute myself and all
of my fellow prisoners will board a train to go meet with our fallen brothers, I haven t been this
excited since I signed up to fight. A cowards mentality is one that I carry, at least that s what I
have been hearing. I have never known someone who looks forward to their death; and I thought I
have seen everything, I guess if you don t recognise and face your fear, it will consume you. The
truth is I have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With majority of the Australia defence force fighting in Europe, meant that Australia was left
vulnerable to an attack from the Axis forces, forcing their way through the pacific. The so called
Cowards who didn t sign up for Europe, now had a second chance to be a hero. For the future
generations of Australia. Everyone is understandably worried, it is more or less the citizens of
Australia fighting against trained Japanese troops in jungle warfare. As we left to PNG we left a
trail of white feathers behind.
When the survivors were captured, they took us to an unknown location. If we wanted to escape,
there was no where to go, ocean to the east, thick and high terrain to the west. We would probably
come into contact with more of the Japanese if we did that, if not malaria would take care of the
rest. A train runs past here all the time, we think it was used to bring supplies and other imports
into the region. We know that it is now used to move War prisoners around the

Comparing Brutus And Cassius In Shakespeare s Julius Ceasar
In Shakespeare s Julius Ceasar , Brutus and Cassius are very important characters, sharing many
similarities and differences. Brutus is a more dominant and noble character, honest and naive.
Cassius is a more manipulative, perceptive character. They both take part in the more dramatic
scenes and are essential to the play itself. They differ in the way they perceive Antony as a threat to
the assassination plot, their dominance in personality, and their moral obligation. To begin with, an
important similarity of Cassius and Brutus is that they re both two of the most noble and honorable
people in Rome, and both end up in the going down similar paths throughout the story. They re both
conspirators that assassinated Caesar and in the end they both fought the battle against Antony and
Octavius, both Cassius and Brutus died the same way. However, despite them having had similar
roles and plots they have very different personalities.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His impulsive personality is shown clearly in his argument with Brutus when he becomes angry
over a little insult, taking the argument so seriously that he offers his life to prove he is right.
Cassius s personality led to his downfall when he murders Caesar over jealousy and anger
without thinking clearly the about consequences, and because of his murder of Caesar he and his
conspirators were condemned by the Romans as traitors and murderers instead of bringers of
justice; if Cassius had thought about it more before he killing Caesar then he wouldn t have been
condemned to death and defeated by Antony s army. Cassius also showed cunningness as he could
easily fool Brutus into taking part in this plan by tricking him into thinking that Caesar is taking
over Rome as a

The Causes Of Fast Food
The history of fast food is not long, but fast food has become a constant element of our lives.
Most people in the world recognize the logos of places like McDonald s or Burger King. A large
percent of the population at least once in their lives has eaten in a fast food bar; however, some
of them do it regularly and they cannot imagine that such bars could cease to exist. Over the years,
fast foods gained their supporters, but also opponents who only see evil in such places. I think the
reluctance to fast foodtriggers two important reasons.
First, fast foods contribute to obesity and increase its rates. The food served in fast food
restaurant catches our attention with good smell and taste. Unfortunately, the food offered at such
places contains a lot of fat, calories and very often chemical components that adversely affect our
bodies. Frequent consumption of hamburgers, French fries, hot dogs, etc. causes bad eating
habits in children and leads to slow weight gain, which over time becomes a serious problem.
Fast foods contain big amounts of salt and sugar that contribute to obesity, which leads to other
diseases such as diabetes, high pressure or circulation s problem. Most of them change our lives
and make them more complicated and less satisfying because we need bigger control of our food,
diet and we need to take medications. In Causes of Obesity and Overweight, Dr. Ananya Mandal
writes: Recent estimates from the World Health Organization (WHO) show that in 2014, about

Harbour Labourers Union Essay
Shipyards the Unions The sectarian workplace cultures of Northern Ireland relocated and re
positioned within mainland Britain, and in Scotland specifically. The consequence of this resulted
in significantly fewer Irish Catholics having the opportunity of gaining employment in skilled or
management positions, instead the vast majority were consigned to lesser skilled manual jobs.
This phenomenon produced a diverse cultural and social milieu on Clydeside, which can be
evidenced in dockside industrial relations of the 1850s. Kenefick s research uncovered the
existence, in the 1850s, of the Glasgow Harbour Labourers Union (GHLU), an exclusive
organisation of a few hundred members, reputed to have had collusive arrangements with specific...

Two Ulster immigrants Richard McGhee, a Protestant, and Edward McHugh, a Catholic, formed
the National Union of Dock Labour in Glasgow in 1889. Both men had links with and supported
Michael Davitt the Irish republican agrarian campaigner for Home Rule and land reform.
McGhee and McHugh garnered support within the Glasgow docks for the National Union of
Dock Labour and in doing so openly highlighted the combined heritage of both Catholics and
Protestants in support of Irish labour and the struggle for home rule. The Glasgow Harbour
Mineral Workers Union was formed in 1887 for workers in the coal and iron ore docks with a
membership made up mainly of Irish Catholics. The following year it was embroiled in a dispute
at the Glasgow docks with Martins (one of the main companies handling minerals) who, in an
attempt to circumvent the issue, advertised for Protestant only workers in Belfast. In spite of
playing the sectarian card, hiring and importing strikebreaking workers, Martins lost the dispute.
Following a period of sustained picketing (fifty pickets were arrested) the strikebreakers defected,
and Martins settled. Reports at the time suggest that some of the strikebreakers were given money
by the Union to pay for their journey back to Belfast, while others were secured employment in the
shipyards. Like the Glasgow Harbour Labourers

The Indian Removal Act Essay example
Indian Removal Act In 1830, the Jackson administration instated the Indian Removal Act. This act
removed the Native Americans from their ancestral lands to make way for an increase of additional
American immigrants. This act forced many Native American tribes from their homes including
five larger tribes, Cherokees, Chickasaws, Choctaws, Creek, and Seminole. These tribes had
populations were estimated to be around 65,000 people strong that lived in North Carolina,
Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi. (Foner, 2012) The American Indians fought for their
rights and beliefs through the American court system. Their other objective other than fighting for
their rights was but in the end, they were forced out of their homes to move... Show more content on

When the Georgia government realized that Worcester was helping the Cherokee, they arrested him
a total of three times; the last time, he was convicted along with other missionaries and
sentenced to four years in prison. The Cherokee tribe had paid a lawyer to represent Worcester
in his case Worcester v. Georgia in the U.S. Supreme court. The Supreme court ruled in
Worcester s favor declaring that the Cherokees possessed the right to live free from the state s
trespasses. Even though the Supreme Court ruled in Worcester s favor, Georgia ignored the
ruling and did not remove the missionaries from prison and continued to remove Cherokees from
their land. President Jackson also did not enforce the ruling and told the Cherokee people to
either leave the land or fall under Georgia s jurisdiction. (Garrison, 2004) In the end, tens of
thousands of Cherokee people were forced by federal soldiers to leave their homes a move west
from Georgia to Oklahoma in what many know as the trail of tears (Foner, 2012)
Seminoles
Other tribes such as the Seminoles stayed in Florida and fought for their land alongside slaves that
had escaped from Georgia. Georgia sent militiamen into Florida to fight the Indians and African
Americans. Hundreds lost their lives on both sides during the Seminole War from 1835 1842. In
the end, the Seminole people were forced from their

Richard Lederer The Case For Short Words Summary
A lot of the time in the world today we believe bigger is better, but is it truly? Short words and
how they are superior to the long is explained in the simplistic style he shares in Mr. Richard
Lederer s essay The Case for Short Words. We never do think of how when we say things simply
the meaning comes across quickly and in other cases more meaningful. After all the world is big
so when we can make things small why don t we go ahead and try. Mr. Lederer shows us through
his own experiences how short words can make for a more impactful meaning. How the simplicity
can bring beauty to a reader s mind proves the forethought in writing this essay. Mr. Lederer then
proceeds to show us this truth through the writings and sayings of great people

Cost Minimization Analysis Paper
Cost minimization analysis is mostly applied in the health sector and is a method used to measure
and compare the costs of different medical interventions Springer. Cost minimization analysis is the
simplest type of cost analysis. The central focus is that one medical intervention is the same as
another, at lower cost. That is the outcomes must be the same. If an institution wishes to substitute
and anesthesia drug which cost $100 less than another there are several question that need to be
answered prior to changing vendors or manufacturers. The first is quality of the medication. The
Food and Drug Administration requires the drug to have the same active ingredients but the the
inactive ingredients may not necessary be the same. The issue is the drug may be the absorbed
different due to its inactive ingredients.. Some patient may not similarly absorb the medication
which may require that greater quantities may be needed to achieve the anesthetic effect that is
desired. As the purchaser of the less costly medication, I would ask the manufacturer to supply data,
in controlled studies to support that the drug is not only therapeutic from the required active... Show

Will it cost more to prepare the medication and administer the lower cost medication? If the more
costly medication was for example in a single use vial this may require no more than transferring
the medication form the pharmacy to the operating room, where the anesthesia staff can administer
the medication. If however the the medication is purchased in a multi use vial it may require the
pharmacy to prepare the medication and then be distributed to the operating room or other areas of
the hospital. The man hours associated with this could be significant and more costly than using a
single dose vial. So therefore the direct and indirect cost of preparation need to be

Bhd Syndrome Essay
1.1 Birt Hogg DubГ© Syndrome
Birt Hogg DubГ© (BHD) syndrome (OMIM 135150) is a rare, autosomal dominant, hamartoma
disorder which is characterized by benign tumours of the hair follicle (fibrofolliculomas), lung
cysts and pneumothorax (collapsed lung), and renal neoplasia. BHD was first described in 1977
by three Canadian doctors Birt, Hogg and DubГ© (Birt et al. 1977). The syndrome had also been
identified 1975 by Hornstein and Knickenberg (Hornstein Knickenberg 1975) and there has been
suggestion of renaming the disease to Hornstein Birt Hogg DubГ©, however due to confusion this
name was never used.

in a study of 152 patients from 49 families in 1999 first described the presence of pulmonary cysts
in BHD patients (Toro et al. 1999). Most of BHD patients are likely to develop pulmonary cysts and
are susceptible to recurrent spontaneous pneumothorax. The study of 50 BHD families showed
88% of the families developed pulmonary cysts and 53% of the families had a history of
pneumothorax. In another study, Toro et al. reported a 93% pulmonary cyst presence in BHD
patients (Toro et al. 2007)(Toro et al. 2008). Pulmonary cysts are the most common BHD
manifestation, seen in up to 90 % of patients (Predina et al. 2011). It has been suggested that the
number of pulmonary cysts correlates with episodes of spontaneous pneumothoraces. Zbar et al.
identified an increase in the risk of pneumothorax for BHD affected individuals, which they
postulated to be due to the presence of pulmonary cysts (Zbar et al.

However, the relationship of Pierre and Marie completely juxtaposed this social norm of the era.
They worked furiously to isolate polonium and radium and when they were successful credit was
given mainly to Pierre. Originally the Nobel Peace Prize was supposed to be awarded to Henry
Becquerel and Pierre Curie in 1903. Marie Curie would not be credited because it was viewed by
the public that she only assisted Pierre with his experiments. Pierre did not like to be recognized
for his work, but insisted that Marie be credited and be a recipient of the prize which made
Marie Curie the first female recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Tragically, in 1905 Pierre was
killed by a truck. This left Marie as a single parent with three children. In her autobiographical
notes of Pierre s biography, she states I have been frequently questioned, especially by women,
how could I reconcile family life with a scientific career . Eventually, she takes on Pierre s full
time job as the Professor general of Physics at Sorbonne. She continued her studies of radium,
focusing on radioactivity which resulted in her win of a second Nobel Peace Prize in 1911.
However, despite her high achievements she is was denied membership to the French Academy of
Sciences because of her gender. Among the people that denied her membership were some of her
past teachers. Her

The Death Of The Barn
I can still remember the day that my dad made a dream of mine come true. One night my family
was sitting down for supper when my dad said, Oh, and by the way Sarah you can have a goat this
summer. At that point I just looked my dad and laughed. I thought he was joking, I had been asking
for a goat for about three years. He had proclaimed multiple times throughout my childhood that I
would not be getting a goatanytime soon. I guess my time had come. Within a few mouths it was
May, I had set up a wired pen for my goat and could barely contain my excitement as we went to go

That day I discovered that goats are very stubborn animals. For five minutes I dragged him around
until I forced him back to his pen. Little did I know that more frustrating times would come with
raising Beans as my show goat.
As time passed and the days grew warmer and longer, Beans and I became better friends. He
would let me pet him when he was in his pen, but when I tried to enter or leave his pen he would
attempt to get out. He never really succeeded until one humid afternoon.
I was feeding Beans and had left the pen to retrieve his ice cold water from the hydrant near the
hog barn. After getting the water I went back to his pen and poured it in the trough. Once I had
finished, I opened the gate, stepped out and tried to get the clunky five gallon pail through the
gate. Instead of getting the pail out, Beans ran out as fast as a cheetah chasing a gazelle. I chased
Beans all over the farm. We weaved in and out of the equipment that had been dormant because
planted season had ended months ago. I ran all over the green knee high tall oat plants in the field,
when Beans made the fatal mistake of running in the inside of the green old rake.
The rake is rectangle shaped with one side open and the other side closed off by a wall of rake
spikes. The rake s butt end rested on the ground, preventing Beans from crawling out. Very
carefully I approach Beans. The last thing I need is him dodging me and running away again. I
reached Beans and picked him up.

  • 2. Disability Movement Prior to reading this article I never truly understand the harsh conditions that the disabled had to live with prior to the disability movement. While reading this article I questioned how individuals abusing the disabled got away with doing so for so long. Yet, while further reading through the article I realized that this abuse may have resulted in lack of educationon disabled individuals and possible fear of the disabled. The article spoke about how the disabilitymovement did not really start until after Dr. Samuel Gridley started a schoolfor idiotic children (Pfeiffer D. 1993). This was a start to helping disabled more, but a very small start at that. Soon after the school was shut down for dehumanizing the disabled. I feel that this idea was a great idea and start to the disabled movement but was not run right therefore was abused and used the disabled individuals for labor work instead (Pfeiffer D. 1993). One of the movements I thought was inspiring and finally helped the Disability Movement turn in the right direction was the AFB, American Foundation for the Blind. This... The definition of disabled in this article starts out with a very important statement: with respect to an individual (Garcia, S. 2013). Being the symbol of the nation, the bald eagle was put on the endangered species list faster than most species. When the bald eagle reached its low point in the 1960 s (400 pairs), it was put on the endangered species list. The many federal acts or programs, the Endangered Species Act being the most effective, that were created for the bald eagle show how much the government cares about the symbol of our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second reason why the bald eagles became an endangered species is hunting. Before the bald eagle was declared an endangered species, they were hunted as any other animal was. Despite being the symbol of the nation, the eagles were still considered a nuisance and were shot on sight. This ignorance brought the bald eagle closer to becoming an endangered species. Historically, Americans treated their nation s symbol about as well as they did their other natural resources. Recent guesstimates of eagle numbers at the time of European settlement range from 25,000 to 75,000 birds, though the species distribution was spotty. Feeding largely on fish and carrion, and thus harmless to human interest, bald eagles were nevertheless classed as vermin, to be shot on sight. (Graham 2) Though the bald eagle is the nation s symbol, people still saw them as vermin and shot them on sight. Not only were they shot because they were thought to be vermin, but they were also shot because they were considered to be great trophies. This lack of patriotism and lack of kindness to animals in general brought down the population of the bald eagle. Since the population of the bald eagle went down, the bald eagle became closer to becoming an endangered species. The third reason why bald eagles became an endangered species is the climate or ... If you aren t familiar with a mangonada it is a Mexican frozen mango drink made with lime juice, chili lime seasoning, and chamoy sauce. So I incorporated those same ingredients in my margarita! It s sweet, with a little bit of heat, and some tequila to wake things up a bit. • 5. Abraham and Moses Essay Abram is presented to us as an old man without an offspring or heir. He is at the age of seventy five when God comes to him with the offer of the covenant. Abraham stands for devotion, justice, compassion, faith, tact, and personal integrity. He is also seen as cunning, humorous, and pragmatic throughout the story. Abram is a man looking for his faith, and God asks Abram to leave his land and kinship to a land which God will show him. In exchange for Abram s faith and compliance, God will make of Abram a great nation, make his name great, bless those who bless him and curse those who curse him, and finally all the communities of the Earth will find blessing in him. God told Abraham that all his people must look to God as their god, and that all the boys must be circumcised on the eighth day after their birth. If Abraham would fulfill his part of the covenant, God would provide Abraham with the lands of Canaan. Abraham must have faith in God throughout his journey because the God he speaks to asks him to leave his lands and kinsfolk to go to a promised land that Moses has never seen nor heard much about. God promises Abraham many things which were unbelievable or impossible without divine intervention, so Abraham s faith is always being tested. Abraham knows that his legacy will never continue without an heir, so his faith lets him continue and believe that he will still have a son even after he has aged so much. Another reason why Abraham must have faith is that the people following him have faith in Abraham. If at any time Abraham loses faith, he will not only risk breaking the covenant with God, but he will also be letting down all the people who had faith in him. The story of Abraham changed the way the Hebrew people thought about time. The Hebrew people began to think of time as cyclical. Each cycle was begun with the promise of what is to come, and ended with the fulfillment of this promise and the need of a new promise. In the film The 12 Angry Men, the 12 jurors are ready to send a young man to the execution chair for the murder of his father. 11 of the twelve men vote that the boy is guilty but juror number 8 votes not guilty. This man was able to see passed his prejudices while the other men are seemly blinded by them. A great example of how peoples beliefs can influence the way they think about other people. The jurornumber 11 sees the young manas still a child and in the men s eyes all children are born as liars. They are incapable of telling the truth and therefore the boywould have had to kill his father and didn t go to the movies that night during the murder like he said. This is backed up by juror number 4 who says that the boy couldn t seem to remember the movie he saw or the actors that stared in the film. If he couldn t remember that the movie then he must be lying about seeing the movie. But juror number 8 proves that not everyone can remember every little fact about every movie. Eusebius makes this clear in his excerpt The Life of the Blessed Emperor Constantine by portraying Constantine as a devout Christian who believed that God can help him restore Rome to its original glory. During this time, Rome exited the crisis of the third century characterized by numerous foreign incursions and domestic strife which left the Roman empirein shambles (McKay et al. 167). XXVII). Eusebius made it clear that Constantine realized that the pagan emperors met their demise, thus he changed his approach and believed that Christianity and God would help save the empire from ruin. Emperor Diocletian denounced Christianity and urged people to accept his divine authority which was given to him by the Roman gods (Smarr January 25, 2017). This combined with the creation of buildings denouncing Christianity led to numerous revolts against Diocletian s rule (Smarr January 25, 2017). This paved a path for Christianity s takeover of the Roman empire. Is undocumented alien illegal immigration really a national problem? Honestly, I don t believe either side. There is no definite completely correct reports out there. Both sides exaggerate the data to make it more compelling. But regardless they both sides have very good arguments. In my opinion, one of the ways is to implement the electronic records management. The government should consider formulating policies, standards and practices, technical specifications and training plans to enable its agencies including Mahkamah Negeri Sembilan to manage records in electronic form. According to Arkib Negara Malaysia, The management of electronic records is not a problem that needs to be solved. Its effective implementation in support of program/ service delivery, decision making, etc., should be viewed from the perspective of the extent to which it can lead to cost savings, cost avoidance, risk reduction and opportunity gain. This means that electronic records could give a lot of benefits to the government agencies. As stated by Arkib Negara Malaysia, electronic records management could help the government agencies to reduce its costs. The traditional records management practiced by Mahkamah Negeri Sembilan for example requires the government to actually spend more money. This is because, if we re looking this issue from a strategic view then it is undeniable that the implementation of electronic records management could save costs. This is another important characteristic of classical political economy. But on the other hand he claimed that (to be in opposition to Adam Smith s theory) free market polarises wealth where rich people get richer and poor get even poorer. The removal of forests results in a decrease of clouds, which in return means less rainfall (Bala et al.). The trees help in the water cycle process, as they return water vapor back into the atmosphere ( Deforestation ). Deforestation disrupts the water cycle, as tress can no longer evaporate the ground water, and as a result the climate becomes drier. If the trees aren t able to do their part in the water cycle, then the rainforest turns into more of a desert. A study was done that concluded deforestation in the Amazon reduces rainfall in the US Midwest and northeast China (Mcsweeney). Rainforests play such an important role in the water cycle that just one rainforest can effect rainfall on the other side of the world. Rainforests take the water from the soil and turn it into moisture in the air, thus cooling the air (Mcsweeney). Without trees this cooling effect wouldn t occur and the additional moisture wouldn t be added to the air. The decrease in moisture in the air will then result in a drier climate, and the rainforest would become more like a desert resulting from the lack of trees. This puts a risk on agriculture as well, as the climate becomes drier due to the lack of rainfall. As many know, nurses are extremely busy throughout their day, and as a result, many of them find it difficult to find the time to document in their patient s medical record. According to the article, a medical record is a legal document required by law and other regulatory bodies. Therefore, it must be done so the patient gets the best and most accurate care. The medical record is also one of the first places people look when a lawsuit is brought up or something goes wrong, so documentation needs to be done properly and in a timely manner. The article gives five suggestions on how to avoid errors and complications in documentation which are: be objective, document at the same time as your... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One suggestion that the article gave that I will be putting to use is that of documenting right away, if at all possible. As mentioned above, nurses are very busy and if a nurse does not document right away there is a good chance it will not get done, and if it does it may not be done correctly or forgotten. Another topic that stood out to me was that it is my legal responsibility, as a nurse, to document on the patient s medical record. If I do not document it it legally did not happen; therefore, I will have to suffer the penalties of those actions or lack thereof. Finally, I learned how serious and critical it is to document and to do it properly. Before I read this article, I knew it was important, but after reading this article it really sunk in that documenting should be taken more seriously. • 26. Action Potential Essay RESTING POTENTIAL Resting potential is the membrane potential when a neuron is not conducting any electrical impulse or signal. The resting potential is around 75 mV. During resting potential, the inside of the axon is negative GRADED POTENTIAL ACTION POTENTIAL Action potential is a fleeting reversal of the membrane potential, caused by changes in permeability of the plasma membrane of neuron to potassium and sodium ions causing an electrical impulse to be transmitted along the axon. When a stimulus depolarizes the membrane, a few of the voltage gated sodium channels that are found in the neuronal plasma membrane open permitting sodium ions to pass through. Since there is much greater concentration of sodium ions outside the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is called temporary hyperpolarisation. The potassium channels then close, and the sodium potassium pump begin to act again, restoring the normal/original distribution of sodium and potassium ions across the membrane, and therefore restoring the resting potential. This process takes time. THE REFRACTORY PERIOD Refractory period is the period of time during which a neuron is recovering from an action potential, and during which another action potential cannot be generated. At this period, the voltage gated sodium channels are still firmly closed (or temporary inactivated) and the membrane cannot produce an action potential, regardless of the stimulation. CONDUCTION/PROPAGATION/TRANSMISSION OF ACTION POTENTIAL An action potential at any point along an axon s plasma membrane triggers the production of an action potential in the membrane on either side of it. During the action potential, sodium ions enter a point on the axon. The temporary depolarization of the membrane where the action potential is causes a local circuit to be set between the depolarized region and the resting regions on either side of it. Sodium ions flow sideways inside the axon, away from the positively charged region towards the negatively charged regions on either side. This depolarizes these adjoining regions and so generates During the action potential, sodium ions enter ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A consumer society is increasingly organized around consumption of goods and leisure, rather than the production of materials and services. It rests on consuming material goods as a supreme characteristic of value. Therefore individuals who do not consume are viewed as undervalued. Peoples consumer choices (taste and style) are seen to be indicators of who they are as a person and of their moves within the games of class, prestige, status, hierarchy, fashionability ( Features of a Consumer Society McGregor 2011). For example if a person has to take any of his household items for disposal then it will have negative value for him, considering transportation costs and the consumed time But rubbish can potentially have value for others. As the old saying goes: One man s junk is another man s treasure .(Unknown). This is essential for defining how come there are businesses of rubbish. Rubbish allows them to make money by disposing it off in proper manner. These businesses turn rubbish into something of value. They make this possible by converting it into marketable products or by moving it away for dumping. ( Rubbish Society , 2009 p.119). Government Vs Federal Government George Smith wrote that Thomas Jefferson believed the distribution of power among federal, state, county, and local agencies was indispensable to America s system of fundamental balances and checks for the government. (Smith, 2012) Today federal, state, and local governments still play important roles in the operations of public schools through providing funding, policies, scope and organization of school systems. Through the years, the federal governmenthas increased their position in governing public schools, stategovernment works to guide and offer clarification, and local governmentis responsible for the day to day affairs. In Federal Control of Public Schools and the Decline of Community Carl Bankston III discusses the fact that the US Constitution makes no reference to schools or education. Since there is no direct mention the Tenth Amendment reserves all the power to be held at the state and to the people. In fact, federal government had no say in the first public schools, all power was delegated to the state. It wasn t until after the Civil War that the federal government would become involved with public education. Then after each war federal involvement would continue to increase. Although the story is titled Angela s Ashes for me the focal character was Frankie (Francis) McCourt. His complex and tumultuous life drove the story from beginning to end and although his mother Angela was very important she was part and parcel of the bigger picture that was Frankie McCourt s life story (Parker, 1999). For me the story resonates the resilience of young people and their ability and inability to work their way through life. The amount of sadness, instability and constant impoverishment would have broken most, but Frankie in his role as eldest brother and son always seemed to find a way to cope and move forward. Both Cultural and Western theorists would have had a field day with the reality of Frankie s life, but in looking at the ideas of two specific theorists to endeavour to make sense of his journey I chose cultural theorist Mason Durie and western theorist Albert Bandura. Mason Durie s Te Whare Tapa Wha model looks at the individual as a whole piece that needs four parts to function; taha wairua (spiritual), taha hinegaro (mental), taha tinana (physical), taha whanau (family) (Durie, 1998). There are many negative consequences that coincide with this risky activity; other than the obvious fact that it is illegal. These consequences include: violent behavior, risky sexual activity, engaging in dangerous activities putting oneself in harm s way, drunk driving, and long term effects such as brain damage and depression. Whether the person engages in drinking regularly and simply believes nothing bad will happen to them, or has been talked into drinking for the first time, both are put at equal risk for any of these events to occur. Arguably some of the most devastating side effects of drinking at a young age are changes in the way the brain develops. The human brain does not stop developing until one is well into their twenties. Because of this, Young people that consume/abuse alcohol, are put at a much higher risk of early onset depression and alcohol dependence into adulthood. The more concerning aspect of this is teens that start having problems with depression, due to drinking, often lie about their habits, thus not getting help until it is too late. More times than not, young people do not confide in parents for fear of judgement and/or ridicule. During this PoC, they first established a baseline of energy consumption through real time metering of energy use in 12 cubicles. In one group, they focused solely on awareness and education. Every two to three days, Intel provided this group with information on how much energy they were using, and how much it cost. They did not provide any other information or requests to change behavior to the members of this group. The extremes of the war were felt by all, although some felt the cruelty the war more than others. Men from many different walks of life and men from different sides of the war all had their souls tried by this war. Some of the men, who joined the Colonial Army, could not take these trials once the going got tough. When the war started in the summer of 1776, the Army was doing well with the victory of Boston behind them, and with the excitement of defending Manhattan in the future, many men joined the Colonial Army. When the Americans lost New York, started to retreat through New Jersey, and the weather turned rainy, the number of men in the Colonial Army started to drop significantly. Men were deserting or waiting until their enlistments were up and then would not re enlist (McCullough 249). Over the years, fast foods gained their supporters, but also opponents who only see evil in such places. I think the reluctance to fast foodtriggers two important reasons. First, fast foods contribute to obesity and increase its rates. The food served in fast food restaurant catches our attention with good smell and taste. Unfortunately, the food offered at such places contains a lot of fat, calories and very often chemical components that adversely affect our bodies. Frequent consumption of hamburgers, French fries, hot dogs, etc. causes bad eating habits in children and leads to slow weight gain, which over time becomes a serious problem. Fast foods contain big amounts of salt and sugar that contribute to obesity, which leads to other diseases such as diabetes, high pressure or circulation s problem. McGhee and McHugh garnered support within the Glasgow docks for the National Union of Dock Labour and in doing so openly highlighted the combined heritage of both Catholics and Protestants in support of Irish labour and the struggle for home rule. The Glasgow Harbour Mineral Workers Union was formed in 1887 for workers in the coal and iron ore docks with a membership made up mainly of Irish Catholics. The following year it was embroiled in a dispute at the Glasgow docks with Martins (one of the main companies handling minerals) who, in an attempt to circumvent the issue, advertised for Protestant only workers in Belfast. In spite of playing the sectarian card, hiring and importing strikebreaking workers, Martins lost the dispute. Following a period of sustained picketing (fifty pickets were arrested) the strikebreakers defected, and Martins settled. Reports at the time suggest that some of the strikebreakers were given money by the Union to pay for their journey back to Belfast, while others were secured employment in the shipyards. When the Georgia government realized that Worcester was helping the Cherokee, they arrested him a total of three times; the last time, he was convicted along with other missionaries and sentenced to four years in prison. The Cherokee tribe had paid a lawyer to represent Worcester in his case Worcester v. Georgia in the U.S. Supreme court. The Supreme court ruled in Worcester s favor declaring that the Cherokees possessed the right to live free from the state s trespasses. Even though the Supreme Court ruled in Worcester s favor, Georgia ignored the ruling and did not remove the missionaries from prison and continued to remove Cherokees from their land. President Jackson also did not enforce the ruling and told the Cherokee people to either leave the land or fall under Georgia s jurisdiction. How the simplicity can bring beauty to a reader s mind proves the forethought in writing this essay. • 49. Cost Minimization Analysis Paper Cost minimization analysis is mostly applied in the health sector and is a method used to measure and compare the costs of different medical interventions Springer. Cost minimization analysis is the simplest type of cost analysis. The central focus is that one medical intervention is the same as another, at lower cost. That is the outcomes must be the same. If an institution wishes to substitute and anesthesia drug which cost $100 less than another there are several question that need to be answered prior to changing vendors or manufacturers. The first is quality of the medication. The Food and Drug Administration requires the drug to have the same active ingredients but the the inactive ingredients may not necessary be the same. The issue is the drug may be the absorbed different due to its inactive ingredients.. Some patient may not similarly absorb the medication which may require that greater quantities may be needed to achieve the anesthetic effect that is desired. As the purchaser of the less costly medication, I would ask the manufacturer to supply data, in controlled studies to support that the drug is not only therapeutic from the required active... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Will it cost more to prepare the medication and administer the lower cost medication? If the more costly medication was for example in a single use vial this may require no more than transferring the medication form the pharmacy to the operating room, where the anesthesia staff can administer the medication. If however the the medication is purchased in a multi use vial it may require the pharmacy to prepare the medication and then be distributed to the operating room or other areas of the hospital. The man hours associated with this could be significant and more costly than using a single dose vial. So therefore the direct and indirect cost of preparation need to be ... Bhd Syndrome Essay 1.1 Birt Hogg DubГ© Syndrome Birt Hogg DubГ© (BHD) syndrome (OMIM 135150) is a rare, autosomal dominant, hamartoma disorder which is characterized by benign tumours of the hair follicle (fibrofolliculomas), lung cysts and pneumothorax (collapsed lung), and renal neoplasia. BHD was first described in 1977 by three Canadian doctors Birt, Hogg and DubГ© (Birt et al. 1977). The syndrome had also been identified 1975 by Hornstein and Knickenberg (Hornstein Knickenberg 1975) and there has been suggestion of renaming the disease to Hornstein Birt Hogg DubГ©, however due to confusion this name was never used. Most of BHD patients are likely to develop pulmonary cysts and are susceptible to recurrent spontaneous pneumothorax. The study of 50 BHD families showed 88% of the families developed pulmonary cysts and 53% of the families had a history of pneumothorax. In another study, Toro et al. reported a 93% pulmonary cyst presence in BHD patients (Toro et al. 2007)(Toro et al. 2008). Pulmonary cysts are the most common BHD manifestation, seen in up to 90 % of patients (Predina et al. 2011). It has been suggested that the number of pulmonary cysts correlates with episodes of spontaneous pneumothoraces. Zbar et al. identified an increase in the risk of pneumothorax for BHD affected individuals, which they postulated to be due to the presence of pulmonary cysts (Zbar et al. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the relationship of Pierre and Marie completely juxtaposed this social norm of the era. They worked furiously to isolate polonium and radium and when they were successful credit was given mainly to Pierre. Originally the Nobel Peace Prize was supposed to be awarded to Henry Becquerel and Pierre Curie in 1903. Marie Curie would not be credited because it was viewed by the public that she only assisted Pierre with his experiments. Pierre did not like to be recognized for his work, but insisted that Marie be credited and be a recipient of the prize which made Marie Curie the first female recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Tragically, in 1905 Pierre was killed by a truck. This left Marie as a single parent with three children. In her autobiographical notes of Pierre s biography, she states I have been frequently questioned, especially by women, how could I reconcile family life with a scientific career . Eventually, she takes on Pierre s full time job as the Professor general of Physics at Sorbonne. She continued her studies of radium, focusing on radioactivity which resulted in her win of a second Nobel Peace Prize in 1911. However, despite her high achievements she is was denied membership to the French Academy of Sciences because of her gender. • 52. The Death Of The Barn I can still remember the day that my dad made a dream of mine come true. One night my family was sitting down for supper when my dad said, Oh, and by the way Sarah you can have a goat this summer. At that point I just looked my dad and laughed. I thought he was joking, I had been asking for a goat for about three years. He had proclaimed multiple times throughout my childhood that I would not be getting a goatanytime soon. I guess my time had come. Within a few mouths it was May, I had set up a wired pen for my goat and could barely contain my excitement as we went to go pick up my goat. My dad and I arrived at the place to pick up my goat. The goat lived in a red barn on an anchorage with a nice middle aged man named Blaine. Blaine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That day I discovered that goats are very stubborn animals. For five minutes I dragged him around until I forced him back to his pen. Little did I know that more frustrating times would come with raising Beans as my show goat. As time passed and the days grew warmer and longer, Beans and I became better friends. He would let me pet him when he was in his pen, but when I tried to enter or leave his pen he would attempt to get out. He never really succeeded until one humid afternoon. I was feeding Beans and had left the pen to retrieve his ice cold water from the hydrant near the hog barn. After getting the water I went back to his pen and poured it in the trough. Once I had finished, I opened the gate, stepped out and tried to get the clunky five gallon pail through the gate. Instead of getting the pail out, Beans ran out as fast as a cheetah chasing a gazelle. I chased Beans all over the farm. We weaved in and out of the equipment that had been dormant because planted season had ended months ago. I ran all over the green knee high tall oat plants in the field, when Beans made the fatal mistake of running in the inside of the green old rake. The rake is rectangle shaped with one side open and the other side closed off by a wall of rake spikes. The rake s butt end rested on the ground, preventing Beans from crawling out. Very carefully I approach Beans. The last thing I need is him dodging me and running away again. I reached Beans and picked him up. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
