2. Introduction
• Human development is an important mean in creating
“human beings with quality and integrity” because
national development is directed on both physical and
spiritual enhancement.
• Human development ensures a strong and capable
nation.
• In Malaysia, government has implemented various
programmes such as the NDP, Philosophy of National
Education, National Social Service and etc.
3. Introduction
• Malaysians need to have the right attitude to continue their
peaceful kind of life.
• Future Malaysians should be citizens with principles capable of
contributing to the nation’s development and face the challenges
of future wisely.
• Pure steadfast vision will produce Malaysians who will be filled
with enthusiasm, resolution and commitment that can wipe out all
negative ills.
• Human development programmes will ensure Malaysians to have
strong mind to reject all weaknesses such as corruption and drug
abuse.
4. Special Governmental Human
Development Programmes
• The government implements many programmes
through various ministries such as
– Ministry of Youth
– Ministry of National Unity and Social Development
– Human Resource Ministry
– Ministry of Education
• To create a defense to fight against negative social
ills.
5. • The Ministry of Youth and Sport has programmes to
develop the young through the “Prime Agenda”,
“Core Programmes” and “National Social Services”.
• The Prime Agenda focuses on efforts to build a
young generation that is dynamic, creative and
farsighted.
• The Core Programmes play an important role in
training, honing and producing entrepreneurs,
developing individuality and guiding youths with
problems.
6. • Self-control is inculcated through National
Social Services especially the spirit of
patriotism, sincerity and unity.
• The Malaysian Youth Council Action Plan
constitutes an agent of reformation and
socialization that plans a variety of activities
such as, the participation of youths in unity
programmes.

• Competitiveness and self – control can be created
through developing strong morals, technical
knowledge and skills, high integrity and fostering
sustained peaceful and harmonious living.
• Factors encouraged for developing social peace
and prosperity are quality of life, patriotism,
expertise, awareness of history and capacity to
compete.
8. • Wholesome values that place Malaysia on the
world map can be achieved through
development of world standard knowledge.
• The Multimedia Super Corridor is a universal
symbol of Malaysia’s stride towards
advancement in science and technology.
• The development of integrated knowledge and
strong religious principles are a strong
foundation for harmony, peace and prosperity.

the people.

13. Control of Drug Abuse
• The problem of drug abuse needs to be fought effectively
and with the support of the people.
• Drug abuse and HIV/Aids can threaten economic, social
and political progress; human development and national
defense.
• Some factors that cause drug abuse are :
– inadequate knowledge about the danger of drugs,
– peer influence,
– lack of self- control to overcome problems faced,
– not making good or proper use of time,
– personal problems / broken home
– putting luxury to wrong use.
14. Prevention Of Drug Addiction
• Methods to counter the ills of drugs are through :

Guidance
Counseling
Information
Education
Socialization activities.
15. • The HIV / Aids illness is an acquired immunity
deficiency syndrome illness caused by the “Human
Immune Deficiency” virus.
• The illness alters the immune system, making people
much more vulnerable to infections and diseases.
• HIV can be transmitted through sexual transmission,
prenatal transmission and blood transmission.
• Infected pregnant women can pass HIV to their
babies during pregnancy,

• The government helps to control the HIV/Aids
illness through
– The allocation of funds
– Educational and health programmes,
– Combined protection between central
government, state and district centres.
– “Health Without AIDS” programmes to improve

• Strong family institution is vital to contribute to the
country’s peace and harmony.
• A number of factors that can help to strengthen the
family include
Emotional development,
Socio-economic development,
Health,
Counseling services
Shelter for senior citizens.
18. • The government is implementing a number of
programmes to develop the family :
– family health
– parenthood
– agricultural development in rural areas
– protection of children
– National Action Plan
– tax exemption
– construction of residential places for the poor.
19. Vision 2020 Challenges for Youth
• Young people today and in the years to come must
have the capacity to face various increasingly
complex challenges.
• Vision 2020 can be considered as the starting point
for young people to develop themselves and society
for excellence compatible to world standards.
• Certain programmes for developing the young are
aligned to the challenges of Vision 2020.
20. • Young people should play a role and contribute
towards building a nation that is united through
the values of peace and prosperity, integration,
racial unity and justice.
• A sound mind needs also to be built based on
confidence, pride, perseverance in the face of
obstacles, quality, farsightedness, religious piety,
and strife to develop a progressive society.
