The Maasai Mara National Reserve is a large game reserve in southwestern Kenya known for its exceptional populations of lions, leopards, cheetahs and wildlife, as well as the annual migration of zebra, gazelle and wildebeest. The terrain is primarily open grassland with seasonal rivers. All of the "Big Five" African animals can be found there, as well as hippos, crocodiles, leopards and many bird species. Unlike most Kenyan national parks, it is administered by local authorities rather than the wildlife service.
