Ketoconazole cream (Kz) is used to treat
skin infections such as athlete's foot, jock
itch, ringworm, and some kinds of dandruff.
This medicine is also used to treat a skin
condition known as pityriasis (tinea
versicolor), a fungal infection that causes a
lightening or darkening of the skin of the
neck, chest, arms, or legs.
Ketoconazole cream is an azole antifungal
that works by preventing the growth of
fungus.

Kz (Ketoconazole Cream) has to be
stored at controlled room temperature
i.e. from 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F) .
Keep this as well as all other medicines
away from children and pets.

Before using Ketoconazole, inform your
doctor in case you are allergic to it or to
other azole antifungals such as
clotrimazole, econazole, or miconazole;
or if you have any other allergies. Kz
(Ketoconazole Cream) may contain
inactive ingredients, which can cause
allergic reactions or other problems.

➢ Use this Ketoconazole cream (Kz) on the
affected skin, usually once or twice a day or as
directed by your doctor. Clean and thoroughly
dry the area to be treated. Dosage and length
of treatment depends on the type of infection
being treated.
➢Apply enough medicine to cover the affected
skin and some of the surrounding skin. After
applying this medicine, wash your hands. Do
not wrap, cover or bandage the area unless
directed to do so by your doctor.

Contraindications
Kz Cream is contraindicated in patients
with a hypersensitivity to Ketoconazole or
any other component of this medication.
It is also contraindicated in patients who
have an allergy to other azole antifungals
such as Clotrimazole, Econazole, or
Miconazole.

➢Ketoconazole Cream side effects can
include Stinging, swelling, irritation, or
redness of the treated skin. In case any of
these effects persist or worsen, inform
your doctor promptly.
➢A very serious allergic reaction to this
drug is not likely, but seek prompt
medical attention in case it occurs.
➢Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction
can include: rash, itching/swelling
(especially of the face/tongue/throat),
severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

This medicine may be harmful in case it is
swallowed.
In the event of acute accidental
Ketoconazole overdose, treatment
consists of supportive and
symptomatic measures. Within the first
hour after ingestion, activated charcoal
may be administered.

Ketoconazole Cream (Kz) has been
assigned to Pregnancy Category C by the
FDA. Animal studies with oral
Ketoconazole have shown evidence of
teratogenicity.
Controlled studies have not been
conducted in human pregnancy.
Ketoconazole applied topically has not
been detected in plasma.
There are no controlled data in human
pregnancy. Ketoconazole topical is only
recommended for use during pregnancy
when benefit outweighs risk.
