The document discusses what a functional specification is and provides guidance on how to write one. It begins by defining a functional specification as a blueprint that details what a product will do, how users will interact with it, and what it will look like. It explains that creating a functional specification upfront saves time and ensures developers and clients have clear expectations. It then provides tips for who should write it and what should be included, such as user research, models of how users and designers conceptualize the product, information architecture diagrams, and more. The overall goal is to provide all necessary information to guide the development process.

This document discusses the application bar in Windows Phone 8. It begins with an overview of what an application bar is and how to add one to a project. It then covers making the buttons on the application bar functional by adding click event handlers. The document also discusses text-based menu items, other properties that can be set for the application bar, and where to find best practices for application bars.
This tutorial demonstrates how to create a website using the myaiesec.net web publishing system (WPS). It shows how to set up the basic page structure and navigation, create a sample website for a fictional Member Committee called "Secondlife", and add pages, folders, images and content. Key steps include creating an index.html homepage, adding additional pages through new folders, uploading and inserting images, and publishing pages live on the website. The WYSIWYG editor allows dragging and dropping content like in a word processor.
This document provides guidelines for creating mobile apps using the ChaseDaddy platform:
1. The app must not be purely promotional and must have dynamic content so users find value in opening it more than once. Blank sections or broken links will result in rejection.
2. Native iPhone features like the camera and GPS should be incorporated near the front of the app to help gain approval from Apple.
3. When creating an app, all content sections must be filled out to avoid automatic rejection. Color schemes and layout should match the corresponding website.

It discusses how AWA allows for fast development of robust web apps connected to SQL Server/Azure with opportunities to distribute apps through the SharePoint app store. The document walks through creating a simple contacts management app with tables for contacts and related activities. It demonstrates how AWA automatically generates forms, menus and related item controls linking the tables to provide a basic but functional web app within minutes without complex coding.
This document discusses the use of apps as an interface paradigm for complex content management systems (CMS) like Magnolia. It argues that apps can help address UI complexity by dividing the interface into focused modules that map to specific tasks. The document outlines some benefits of apps, like modularity and clarity of extension points, but also notes challenges like ensuring navigation is not disorienting and content is not siloed. It concludes that adopting apps fully turns the CMS into more of a platform and requires focusing on core services and integration between apps.

We can help our clients better manager their websites and web content if we give them a CMS interface that is tailored to their needs. So instead of expecting them to use a one-size-fits-all admin template, we provide a client template that is tailored to those who will be managing the website through the CMS.
This presentation, delivered at the 2013 Joomla World Conference, illustrates the client template and how it can be tailored.

Vanilla HTML is limiting and boring. Our clients demand highly engaging and interactive web experiences. And wouldn’t you know, with just a bit of HTML and JavaScript we can craft amazing custom controls, widgets and effects that go far beyond the confines of traditional static markup. But how can we ensure that these custom experiences are both understandable and usable for people with disabilities, and in particular those using assistive technologies such as screen readers?
In this talk, we will look at the basics of making some common custom-built components accessible - covering how browsers and assistive technologies interact, the limitations of HTML, and how ARIA can help make interactive experiences more accessible. In addition, we will explore some of the recent additions in ARIA 1.1, as well as some particular challenges when it comes to traditional ARIA patterns and assistive technologies on mobile/tablet/touch devices.

This document discusses implementing mobile solutions for SharePoint. It argues that mobile users need task-oriented and context-sensitive interfaces that focus on specific tasks rather than providing all information. An example help desk solution is demonstrated that adapts forms and permissions based on user role and task status. Customizing SharePoint with InfoPath, mobile-optimized CSS and master pages, or using third-party solutions can create interfaces tailored for mobile use that improve productivity by streamlining common tasks.
This document describes a SharePoint feature called the SharePoint File Controller Feature. It allows administrators to configure file size limits and allowed file types at the list/library level, which is not possible in the default SharePoint configuration where these settings can only be configured at the Web application level. This makes it possible to enforce governance policies by controlling what types of files can be uploaded to specific lists. The summary demonstrates how an administrator can use this feature to limit a Tasks list to attachments under 2MB and block zip files. It concludes that this helps save server resources and implement company governance policies over SharePoint.

HCL Notes and Domino License Cost Reduction in the World of DLAUpanagenda
Webinar Recording: https://www.panagenda.com/webinars/hcl-notes-and-domino-license-cost-reduction-in-the-world-of-dlau/
The introduction of DLAU and the CCB & CCX licensing model caused quite a stir in the HCL community. As a Notes and Domino customer, you may have faced challenges with unexpected user counts and license costs. You probably have questions on how this new licensing approach works and how to benefit from it. Most importantly, you likely have budget constraints and want to save money where possible. Don’t worry, we can help with all of this!
We’ll show you how to fix common misconfigurations that cause higher-than-expected user counts, and how to identify accounts which you can deactivate to save money. There are also frequent patterns that can cause unnecessary cost, like using a person document instead of a mail-in for shared mailboxes. We’ll provide examples and solutions for those as well. And naturally we’ll explain the new licensing model.
Join HCL Ambassador Marc Thomas in this webinar with a special guest appearance from Franz Walder. It will give you the tools and know-how to stay on top of what is going on with Domino licensing. You will be able lower your cost through an optimized configuration and keep it low going forward.
These topics will be covered
- Reducing license cost by finding and fixing misconfigurations and superfluous accounts
- How do CCB and CCX licenses really work?
- Understanding the DLAU tool and how to best utilize it
- Tips for common problem areas, like team mailboxes, functional/test users, etc
- Practical examples and best practices to implement right away

Threats to mobile devices are more prevalent and increasing in scope and complexity. Users of mobile devices desire to take full advantage of the features
available on those devices, but many of the features provide convenience and capability but sacrifice security. This best practices guide outlines steps the users can take to better protect personal devices and information.
1. Did you know that you can easily create custom-tailored SharePoint Mobile solutions in just a few minutes, without any code development at all?
2. “But SharePoint is very customizable and already has a mobile output format (/m)” OK...I just got out from a meeting with a customer, I would like to create a follow-up task for myself while I’m on my way to my car..
3. Here’s SharePoint’s mobile view (/m) Where is my sales dashboard?? All I see is a long list of lists and libraries..most of them I don’t know.. I just need a big “New Task” button Oh, here is the Tasks list! Let’s click it…maybe then I’ll see the “New Task” button
4. Here are my tasks!(I see some which are VERY old..) Oh, this one should be closed long ago. How do I close a task? Very simple! Click “Display”, then click “Edit” and then mark the task with “Completed” status and then click “Save”… Close Task I wish I could just have a “Close Task” link here.. Found the “New Task” link!!(I already got into my car..)
5. Finally I can write the follow-up task for myself! Why do I need this field?? It’s a NEW task so of course it was not started!! Same for this one…why is it here?? Now I have to select myself from a list…this is really taking far too long for one simple follow-up task..
6. Couldn’t our IT experts just create a simple “New Task for Myself” button that opens a new task page without the irrelevant fields ?? Couldn’t they spare me from all these screen and allow me access directly the “New Task page”? I don’t care how SharePoint works.. I need to be able to work faster!!
7. SharePoint mobile-user challenges A much more focused interface is required No more generic New-View-EditSharePoint list pages – all with the same “generic” menus. Have the exact interface needed by your mobile users to perform their business activities.
8. What mobile users do need Custom pages that include EXACTLY what I need My Sales space Fits 100% to my smart phone (without any development) My Monthly Summary My Actions Easy to create and configure, just like SharePoint + + Instead of the generic SharePoint screens have a focused, simple Task-Oriented interface!
10. SharePoint Mobile ExtensionsSmart, focused interface for productive mobile users In just a few minutes you can produce a custom-tailored, focused mobile interface that answers your mobile users’ specific needs!
30. I now see the exact menus I need (and NOT the regular SharePoint menus that half of them I never use..) I see only the menus I need to see according to defined logic (who I am, Which view I am watching) When I click the “Create new task for me” action, The following will happen
32. Remember what fields you see in SharePoint when you want to create a new task for yourself? I would like not to see this field, and have a default value of “Not Started” don’t want to see this field(and have a 0 default value for it) I would like this field to be automatically filled with my user name
33. Well..here is the focused, mobile version: Since it is a new task for myself, I see only relevant fields. The field “assigned to” is not visible and is auto-filled with my username.
35. I am automatically redirected to “My Tasks” view(because this is how I defined it), and several fields were auto-filled.
36. Let’s now go to an existing task Clicking an item..
37. I see only the fields I should see The fields are grouped into page parts (sections) according to the way I wanted
38. Clicking the “Actions” shows custom item-level actions You can define item-level conditioned menus which are visible according to a defined logic! For example: The action “Close Task” is visible because this task is assigned to me.
40. This is a regular Tasks list. You can see we’ve added some custom actions to the list. Go to the List’s Settings page to configure its mobile behavior…
41. Click the “SharePoint list forms extensions” link to configure the list (both for web and for mobile)
42. In his page for example you define the available custom list actions
43. These custom actions produce... …the menus that your users see on their smart phones
44. You can define the exact logic for every custom action Caption and icons To which page the user will be redirected after the action was done Who sees this action, and on which views
45. Define fields auto-update rules for each menu.(in our example:when creating a task for myself, make the “Assign To” field be equal to [me]) Define which field groups (tabs) will be visible for user input You can define which workflows should be initiated upon this action’s completion!
46. You have similar abilities to define Item-level actions, but… You can also define logic conditions for each menu’s visibility! Example:The menu “Close Task” will be visible only to the user which the task he sees is assigned to him (you cannot close other employee’s tasks)
47. Summary I see only the relevant fields I see only the relevant views I see only the relevant, custom list-leveland item-level menus These menus are depended upon who I am, what I am watching and that state of the current item (so there are no irrelevant options) Minimum mistakes to do, minimum post-backs Task-oriented, easy to use solution!
51. This solution is based on Strict XHTML Master page + layout pages HTML generated using user controls ASCX and repeaters (highly customizable!) UI is strictly done using CSS
52. Fully integrated SharePoint solution Settings are saved as XML file in the list or site. Can be saved as part of a: Template Definition Can be set using features on existing lists Standard SharePoint solution, easily deployed across your organization!
54. Product Roadmap Feb-10-2010, V1.0.50 (Public beta) March-2010, V1.1.00 (RTM) SP2007 & SP2010 Mobile solution templates (Sales workspace, Help Desk) May-2010, V1.2.00 Custom Actions API More mobile solution templates TBD
